I love the 5 Min Journal, just finished it. I also do the morning pages, which I love and got from Julia Cameron who wrote "The Artist Way". Gotta work on the meditation part. Great advice. Will try that. Thank you.

I would change the tuna for Oatmeal. Also, I miss the cold showers, since moving to FL can't seem to get really cold water.

i get up then put my sheet and pillow where they can dry quickly. 15min later i make my bed. during these 15min i do other stuff. i will never get why one is supposed to make the bed immediately after getting up. it is a clear fact and no doubt that the sheets are wet/moist after a night of sleep. absolutely no need to make the bed right away...

dont make your bed. let the nights moisture evaporate from the sheets or the mites will proliferate .

What changed my life is adding a fat and protein breakfast as early as possible (after my morning run). A lot of people can probably experiment with Intermittent Fasting and others, but if you're in doubt, have anxiety or focus issues, go safe. Eat something in the morning. Experiment from there.

First thing you should do in the morning should tie to your goals. Making your bed will only help you become a champion housekeeper if there is such a thing. You will eventually get tired of it.

Lately mine has been wake up, spend 5 minutes taking a glance at my stock portfolio, make my bed, drink cucumber water, shower, then sit down and have a coffee. Definitely will add push ups

I do a lot of this already! I learned from a book by another author about making your bed first and he also suggested doing a few minutes of Radio Taiso. I also meditate for about 5 minutes a day and it all these things do wonders. Only thing I don't do(that I used to do) is journal and only because I feel like it takes too much time. I was doing it for probably 30 minutes to an hour a day so maybe I just need to add it back in but in shorter time frames.

The first thing that everone should do right now is acquire a dream journal. Doesnt have to be a physical journal - you can just use your phone - but write down your dreams every day first thing upon waking. watch what happens to them, and to you.

Start by putting your phone in airplane mode before you go to bed. You want to have a boot up system of your own rather than waking up to notifications. If you win the morning you win the day. 1. Waking up and making your bed. You accomplish one thing in the beginning of the day. Sets you up physiologically to have a productive day. 2. 10 -15 push ups to prime your nervous system. 3. Journaling (5 minute journal or morning pages) 4. Meditation 10-20 min (Headspace) BONUS: I would also include SMILING first thing when you wake up. Start the day in a positive way! :)

What about getting more sleep instead of meditation and all the other steps in your routine? That extra 10-15 minutes that I sleep after getting up by my alarm and checking my stocks, is the best.

My only issue with < 1000 calories / day is this will not work with athletes demanding more physical output, especially cardio. I guess the question that needs to be asked is what is more important - ketone levels, low body fat %, BMI, or energy/how-do-you-feel daily? I personally eat one GIANT meal per day at 5 or 6pm and feel great. I’ve improved my fat to 15%, goal is 9%, and I have all the commonly reported benefits of a ketogenic state. To achieve this I’ve followed recommendations of Ben Greenfield, Jason Fung, Firas Zahabi, and Rhonda Patrick. However, I have NOT used your recommended device to check ketone levels - will do so.

My mom always tell us to make our beds as soon as we get up. I never knew it's benefits..I never listened to her being a lazy kid, but after watch a video by one guy named Jocko about making beds. I tried to make a bed-making as a habit...and indeed it has helped me alot. I'm grateful to my mom. I think in India it's a household habit to make our beds as soon as we get up.

Idea: video on taboo subject of male (this of course wouldn't exclude female) anti aging practices, especially in relation to the face and cosmetics. E.G.- Vitamin C serum, retinol, topical formulas, the variety of slightly more invasive techniques done by a dermatologist, the cost of those, etc... I think some of us practice these (and consider them. I'm 40 yo) but it's never talked about in podcasts of the "biohacking, optimizing, etc" community.

I’m really trying to incorporate some of these tips, but I have kids. Our 9 month old still has us up every 2-3 hours and my 4 year old doesn’t like to sleep either. As much as I’d like to wake up at 5am and work out and journal and meditate, I’d also like to sleep. Going to bed earlier doesn’t work either, because my career has me working 9-5 at my main company and playing drums at night on the weekends until after midnight. I need help lol.

If you're feeling overwhelmed sometimes, it makes it even more worthwhile (necessary?) to meditate. Unfortunately, I also have more resistance to the idea of meditating when I'm stressed.

Can you meditate on your lunch break? 10 minutes a day is enough. If you take the bus, walk or drive to work, Headspace has meditation routines for those. For journaling, maybe you can record yourself on your phone on the way to work.

Hah! You "cigarette roll" her in the blanket and sheet, then fluff the pillows, then roll her and the linens back out. Tuck them all in. She'll wake up to a clean bed, knowing nothing of what happened. Or why her neck, shoulder, and 1 arm hurt really bad.

Hey! I think you can make your side of the bed like tidy the pillows, tidy half of the sheets. Or best, use a different blanket and then fold it neatly as you wake up.

I tried this routine, but when i tried to make my bed, i was so excited i flipped my bed onto me. I missed work and had to survive on the family size Cheetos i had left by my night stand. A neighbor helped save me. I will never make my bed again. Jk. Good tips. They help.

I definitely agree on the "making your bed" idea and "external mess = internal mess" idea. I have been working from home for almost 20 years and keeping things in order helps to keep the clutter from taking over your mind!

I totally understand the motivation for making one's bed upon arising. However, I've read that, if you make your bed immediately after waking up, you can trap moisture in which is a good environment for dust mites. So, I open my window and expose the unmade bed sheets to air and sunlight which is apparently like kryptonite for the mites. Then before leaving the house, I make my bed.

I just beat on my bed with a mallet,yelling "Die you little shits!!!." To kill mites. My neighbors always yell at 2 am when i do that and stomp on the floor. Guess they're killing mites, too.
