Very cool idea. I hate to use gesso because it's expensive to replace but I like this base.
+Crafty Come Lately I found it much easier to start with one coat of gesso once i ripped that layer off. TFW

I am on a roll to finding this kind of notebooks. I live in south east asia & couldn't find those types of COMPOSITION books! It looks super nice & vintage even with the glossy finish! How does that makes it awkward? & tips on where to find it? 😭
Louise Cooper (1 year ago)
shasha kina you can buy them on eBay
leonthesleepy (2 years ago)
You can look on amazon! I believe it costs about 2 bucks per notebook and you can buy them in a pack!
+shasha kina I am not sure if they go by different names in other areas of the world. Let me do some asking around and see if I can find out for you. Thanks for watching :)

Thank you for a wonderful tip,!
+Philip Klunk You are welcome :)
Great tip! I have done this before on other types of cardboard sign, but might have to try it on a composition book. Also, if you want to paint, but you think the paint will rub off, take a piece of sandpaper to the cover and ruff it up. I go in one direction first, then in the opposite direction, to create a hash mark like texture...the paint will grip on, and not rub off during use :)
Reena O (3 years ago)
Some of them don't come off easily. You can rough it up with sand paper too to get rid of the glossy if they won't peel.
+Reena O Thanks for adding that tidbit for anyone experiencing ones that wont peel easily :)

Interesting.... I've always just buffed it up with sandpaper.. to wear down the gloss.. which works well.. Never thought about peeling it.. TFW  cj

Totally understand... In my tiny home.. 375 sq ft.. If I need to do any thing like sanding.. I have to step outside...  Your idea of peeling the cover is very interesting and worth a try.. TFS... :D  cj
+mzscarlett12345 I had not considered buffing because I didn't want the dust since my art room floors are carpet right now.

+Janet Baker yes but much less annoying to remove haha

Great tip! Love this. I've done this a couple times and it works great. I even added a piece of chipboard over the peeled cover for a super thick and heavy cover. Blessings!
+JJsJoyfulCreations oo great idea, I will have to try that out on one. :)
