Official Ruling for The Chain Veil: “Because the last ability modifies the rules of the game, it affects not only planeswalkers you control when it resolves, but also planeswalkers that come under your control later in the turn.” Therefore when you cast teferi after he dies you just have 5 extra activations with him. So yes, you do go infinite with teferi, chain veil and 3 big mana rocks.

Best deck ive ever played was my scion of the ur dragon hermit druid deck.

Goretorium Gaming (1 month ago)
lol my rakdos deck also abuses the hell out of yawgmaw's will... Turn 1 possible kill, swamp+mana crypt. Swamp to dark ritual, 3 black and 2 colorless, tap the colorless and 1 black for yawgmaw's will. spam up 42+ black off of dark ritual, exsanguanate, profane command, what have you and smack everyone at the table for 40 damage turn 1. Or at any point I can get a tutor off this can go off with relative ease.
NECROLORDZ (1 month ago)
I have been trying to improve on a Varina deck that controls the board and then uses the tokens generated to close out the game... needless to say it has not been performing well.

Can we get a time stamp for each separate commander card
shaunjcwgaming (1 month ago)
A new deck I built has become the bane of my playgroup. It's an Aminatou combo deck that plays control until I can tutor for just 2 cards. Felidar Guardian and Oath of Teferi. Aminatou and those 2 cards go infinite. You can flacker your lands that come into play untapped to gain infintie mana and you can also activate the + and - abilities of other planeswalkers infinite times so the game ends with Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath or Sorin, Lord of Inistrad. You can also always draw the top card of your library so hilariously you can tutor for any card in your deck with a just a scry land so long as you have 1 other card in hand to swap it for. It's been really fun to play but people are getting annoyed since all I do is boardwipe and coutnerspell until I can tutor for my win con.

Okay Im not infinite BUUUT I have a few thousand mana😂😂😂😂😂

Watching this I feel sad and angry. If commander would ever turn into every other god damn format there is, I'm quitting Magic for good and sell everything.
Nocturnal Game Reviews (2 months ago)
Also on teferi when he re-enters the battlefield he gets free activations from the amount of times you activate the chainveil since hes technically a new permanent he gets all of those previous activations!
Nocturnal Game Reviews (2 months ago)
Isocrhon scepter with my mana drain trololol
Coen Stevenson (2 months ago)
For infinite green mana you can combo ¨Life and Limb¨ and ¨Spourmound¨ making a ton of saprolings that are also forests. Food chain in this makes double infinite green
Anthony Trumble (2 months ago)
Ive always liked animar hes not on this but if built right he can get off fast and furious and light up the battlefield
Wade Wilson (2 months ago)
The only decks I don't like are ones that keep you from playing magic or drag the game on for ever if i can't untap my creatures or lands and can't draw cards why play I'd rather take a fire ball to the face for a million than sit there for 11 turns while a 2/2 hit me and i just pass my turn for it all

My teacher has a commander deck it’s called the dem bones deck it all the cards have to have a bone in the art it’s obviously the best deck
the most powerful decks I've come across in my play group has to be Brago King eternal, we just never got to play magic at all, since he reality acided all our stuff and milled us to death. it was built as a mill deck, so it took forever to do. I wish he would have just played Phenax instead, it would have been faster. we did have a "Narset, Enlightened Master" in for 1 game, but that player never got to go off, so haven't seen what that commander can do really, but I'm told she can kill in 2-3 turns if you go off.

If it drops right my baral chief of compliance would tell every single one of those combos to go to Exile
michaelkeha (3 months ago)
I faced off against the teferi deck what a piece of utter boring shit that reinforces with adamantium rebar my view that competitive commander is a fuckin joke with dumb fucking decks also the tazri deck is the reason I couldn't get games for 3 weeks with my allies tribal deck because tazri was the new hotness in comp commander and people thought it was the comp deck so fuck both those decks.
The entire format should be pushed to "fun magic". Stuff like Tooth and Nails, Staff of Domination or Exquisite Blood should be banned. Infinite combos need to be hard to achieve and restricted to target one player only if possible. Otherwise it will turn into poorman's vintage, because the same tools are aviable, except that fair decks lack the consistency to stop them.
No mikaeus? The entire deck a huge infinite combo of "things", from damage, life, mana, even discard, and has way to many options or each.
RIOT (3 months ago)
Prossh may have the greatest weakness, but a tuned Prossh can be faster than most of these decks. Also, the Food Chain/Eternal Scourge combo is good in Prossh as an alternate use for Food Chain when Prossh eats an inevitable counter spell. The new Squee is another good replacement for Prossh if you need an infinite mana abuse card. Lastly, by having fewer than 5 colors, you have more room in your deck for removal and tutors, so you still move insanely fast. Resolving and protecting Food Chain is the hard part, not Prossh. I've been using Red Elemental Blast and Pyroblast lately to deal with any blue nonsense and Eternal Witness or Seasons Past to get Food Chain back if a game goes longer than necessary.

Yodaslayer3000 (4 months ago)
Going back and watching, I just now realized you explained the chained veil combo kind of wrong. Chained Veil doesn't target anything, it stacks the amount of times you can activate the planeswalker abilities, so you can kill teferi and then recast him and immediately stack a bunch of mana, so it is 100 percent infinite, the moment Jace hits the board, he should immediately be able to ult and kill the board.
Samuel Goodliffe (4 months ago)
34:50 That...that's an okay combo without Rings of Brighthearth or a similar effect. Even then it's meh. With Rings of Brighthearth I believe you maybe able to go infinite...tbh I'm going to bed after this comment so I'm not going to bother thinking about it tonight. Simple answer It requires 4 combo pieces and 6 lands to be at least good but even then it's still meh. It only draws you 13 cards and digs you 26 cards through your deck while producing 162 mana. And can not be disrupted by an opponent. Period. Good for semi-cheap decks. Complicated answer Lets start with what's on the field. 3 mana rocks that each produce 3 mana each (for the sake of optimal mana production) The Chain Veil 6 untapped Island's Basis of the combo 1) You cast Teferi from the command zone. (First time you just use the 6 Island's) 2) You plus Teferi (This doesn't impede the combo in fact it helps it by giving it 1 more activation with Chain Veil before he dies) 3) You tap your mana rocks to produce 9 mana 4) You then activate Chain Veil. Which costs 4 mana. 5) You minus Teferi, untap all 4 artifacts. (Mana rocks, Chain Veil) 6) Repeat steps 3 - 5 until Teferi dies. 7) Repeat steps 1 - 6 until re-casting Teferi no longer produces mana. Now lets talk mana production, since he enters with 5 loyalty and you plus him resulting in 6 minuses which each produce 5 mana per cast of Teferi (5 mana produced * 6 minuses = 30 mana produced). Or x = 6, y = (9x - 4x). x being the # of times the combo is executed per casting and y being the mana gained per casting. Exactly how many times can you cast Teferi? As many times as you like until he costs 32, on the last one you will gain no mana but you will get an extra card from the +1. But how many is that? 13 casts to be exact including the initial casting. Or 32 = 6 + 2(x - 1). x being the times cast. You maybe doing the math in your head like OMG that's 360 mana! But that's only Gross-Mana produced not Netgain in mana. What your forgetting is the cast cost of Teferi which goes up by 2 each casting. So in reality you only Netgain 162 mana...for a lot of steps and time...not too good. However you do get to look at 26 cards of your deck and draw 13 of them (from Teferi's +1) which you can then cast with the mana produced. That's probably the one redeeming factor in this combo TBH which makes it good but not top-tier. Especially when it requires 6 lands, 4 combo pieces and it absolutely can not be disrupted by an opponent....still fun idea and of course it will always be subjective on a per game basis (The high being you have other Planeswalkers you control, the low being your opponent has a response and it fizzles, etc.) Edit: If you feel like I am missing something be that a problem in the math, order, whatever, feel free to leave a comment. Or if you just want to discuss or voice your opinion that's cool too. Just so you guys know I probably won't be back unless the comment gets a toooooonnnn of likes due to how notifications work.
The Saurus (4 months ago)
It's not colorless mana... It's generic mana. It bothers me way more than it should that more people don't make that distinction.
LordScrambles (4 months ago)
I don't think you guys fully understand the Teferi combo. It IS infinite because when Teferi enters the battlefield, he is a new entity. This means that you get free uses of his Planeswalker abilities from the previous chain veil activations, resulting in perpetual net-gains as you recast him.
Professor. Moriarty (4 months ago)
Prossh with Nissa, voice of Zendikar, get it?
Kieran (4 months ago)
best one ive played is jace vryns prodigy
PhazonOmega (4 months ago)
Chain Veil also has a weird little quirk: Near infinite Planeswalker activations. Everytime Teferi is re-played from the Command Zone, he is treated as a "new" planeswalker, and receives EVERY ACTIVATION FROM THE VEIL that has happened this turn so far. Not only does this mean you can use his +1 in between his -1, but eventually you will have enough activations to use his +1 to search your deck for what you want (preferably a finisher planeswalker like Jace or Ugin). Then, when you play Jace or Ugin, you can use their abilities additional times for every Veil activation of that turn. So, if you have 39 activations and Ugin, you just Lightning Bolt everyone 40 times for 120 damage total, or 40 damage per player (doesn't divide evenly, but players are usually down a few points anyway).
PhazonOmega (4 months ago)
Training Grounds is the simplest and cheapest $$$ combo with Basalt Monolith, as it reduces the untap cost from 3 to 1, meaning you tap for 3 and untap for one, netting 2 colorless mana.
CaptBackwards (4 months ago)
21:00 tidewater minion + illusionist's bracers = infinite mana plus infinite untaps and etc.
Mike Asterios (4 months ago)
My Jhoira (captain) deck is pretty strong :D I purposefully keep the egginess of it low as our commander playgroup is more on the casual side

How do you spend an hour talking about infinite mana and don't mention grand pila pala
AgentOrange (4 months ago)
This went from a video about powerful decks to just be a collection of infinite combos. I wish to just hear about solid decks, a few combos don't make a deck. What about the actual rest of the deck? I have heard way less about protecting the combos and trying to stop an opponent.

I am in the middle of the "spectrum" if there was one to determine a decks power. I play powerful cards but stay away from combos. I have no problems with what people play as Edh and CEdh shouldn't be mutually exclusive. Those that take highly tuned CEdh to pub stomp kids or casual players are people I can't stand however in reverse a kid telling me I can't play Path to Exile because it kills his dragon is just as bad. Play to what your playgroup enjoys. From experience powering down my decks to play with my friends has made Edh more enjoyable while I keep my more powerful decks for more spike mind people. I love the idea of CEdh but I despise those that pubstomp the casual groups, honestly what do you get out of that?
Chad Morrison (5 months ago)
Surely if you know prossh could be countered when costs a million you woukd run command beacon to put it into your hand and start again
Michael Barker (5 months ago)
Angel's Grace won't protect you against Ad Nauseam's life loss, you will die on the cleanup step because Angel's Grace is worded to only modify damage dealt and not life loss. It protects you only from losing the game until end of turn from Ad Nauseam.
Nerdy George Washington (5 months ago)
I'll have to try that Isochron Scepter/Dramatic Reversal Combo. It's cheap, easy to pull off, and doesn't win the game by itself. I love it.

The most competitive deck I've played against was an Edgar Markov vampire tribal deck that my friend has been improving for the last year. It gets creature out fast and can easily create an army if left to its own devices. He also has two sanguine bond combos where you lose all of your life and and then lose the game. They use blood tribute and exquisite blood.

So the point of cEDH is finding a good and ideally flexible combo and tutoring the shit out of your deck to take off before your opponent ? In a theory craft perspective this seems fun but I can hardly see the point of playing it as a format; looks like it's taking away it's essence from said format. Shouldn't the point of having a format with a lot of singleton to have upsets, surprises, high and lows etc ? Like, those competitives decks seems to say "okay let's fight as much as we can against the limitation of the format so that we can win; high variance is a feature of the format but screw that". (Kind of new to Magic so I appologize in advance if I aproach this with a too narrow PoV; I'd like to have your insights if you're a cEDH player as I wanted to shout to every deck that I saw there -> play modern)

These are all sooo fragile lol like sure, ur tryna go off on turn 2-4, but you got 3 other competitive decks and you’re assuming they have no way to stop it. Seems like a lot of money to pour into a deck just to whif :/

I like duel decks, alot, mostly the older ones. One of the strognest I have ever played imo is Koth of the Hammer in duel deck Koth vs. Venser. Venser is cool synergy guy, but Koth is freaking agro-dmg-kinda-fast-mana-build deck. Ive never had a chance to play EDH officialy. By the way I gonna say it again, this channe lis sooooo under-rated, you should really have like another at the end of your sub number :)

Correction for the bit where they talk about ad nauseam: ad nauseam doesn't actually deal damage. Also angels grace says that you can't lose the game. This is why phyrexian unlife also works. Necrpotence doesn't work with angels grace because you can't pay life that you don't have, thus meaning if your life total, for any reason, is less than one, necro doesn't work. I know that it is semantics and doesn't change the point, but it still bugged me
joshua h (8 months ago)

gitrog frog is also super stupid quick. gitrog + dredge land, and have kozilek, and lotus petal in your deck, and have a discard outlet, so constnatly discard dredge land draw your entire deck when you deck out discard kozilek reshuffle, and you get lotus petal play it sac it just keep shuffling repeating for infinite mana then play exanguinate or something that drains.
