City of West Hollywood Automated Parking Garage
The City of West Hollywood is thrilled to embrace automated parking as an innovative solution to the challenge of creating sufficient parking. The garage requires a much smaller physical footprint than would a conventional parking structure with a similar capacity. The space savings nets more than 7,000 square feet for a Community Plaza and entry service area that will be used for community events. The Automated Garage will help to answer the City’s need for parking for City Hall and for surrounding businesses. Parking your vehicle is as simple as driving in to the bay, pulling a ticket and walking away. The maximum vehicle retrieval time for an individual car is approximately two minutes. The automated garage has multiple lifts and shuttles that can move many vehicles at once. More info: http://www.weho.org/automatedgarage

West Hollywood 1980
The city of West Hollywood celebrates its 32nd birthday on November 29, 2016. Two years before it was born, I was contributing a monthly feature about streets in L.A. to "Two on the Town," a local series broadcast by KCBS-TV hosted by Steve Edwards and Connie Chung and directed byJoel Tator. One of the streets that I profiled was Santa Monica Boulevard in the area of what was then an unincorporated area of L.A. County.

City of West Hollywood Automated Parking Garage Demo
The City of West Hollywood has awarded a $2.6 million contract to Unitronics to design, engineer, fabricate, install and maintain a 200-car automated vehicle storage and retrieval system for the West Hollywood City Hall Automated Garage and Community Plaza Project which will be located at 8300 Santa Monica Boulevard. "City staff, residents and the City Council continue to work in upgrading the city's infrastructure to make sure our city meets the needs of a dynamic community," said West Hollywood Mayor John J. Duran. "The expansion of City Hall and the building of the new automated parking garage not only will provide for a better experience to residents and visitors, it will also provide for much needed additional parking while reducing the carbon footprint that a "traditional" parking structure would generate otherwise," added Mayor Duran. Automated parking garages can hold as many as three times the number of cars as traditional ramp-style parking garages. Operationally, automated parking garages provide customers with a valet-like parking experience that is fast, safe, and convenient. They are also less expensive to build when compared to conventional parking garages. Automated parking garages utilize computer-controlled motorized lifts, conveyors and shuttles to transport cars from the arrival level to a parking space and vice versa, without human assistance. Since 1989, Unitronics, a unique leading company with international presence, has focused on three principal fields of activity, which are implemented by three business divisions: Automation Products, Automated Logistics Systems and Automated Parking Solutions. Through its Automated Parking Solutions division, Unitronics provides design, production, integration, installation, support and maintenance services for automatic parking systems. These services include traffic and parking surveys, conceptual solutions and design, detailed engineering, construction, installation, implementation, operation and maintenance. GREEN solutions and LEED certification are major factors in Unitronics' Automated Parking Solutions designs.

Driving Downtown - Hollywood 4K - USA
Driving Downtown Neighborhoods - Hollywood - Los Angeles California USA - Episode 17. Starting Point: Hollywood Boulevard https://goo.gl/maps/hzmbLQxB3gM2 . Hollywood is an ethnically diverse, densely populated, relatively low-income neighborhood in the central region of Los Angeles, California. It is notable as the home of the U.S. film industry, including several of its historic studios, and its name has come to be a shorthand reference for the industry and the people in it. Hollywood was a small community in 1870 and was incorporated as a municipality in 1903. It was consolidated with the city of Los Angeles in 1910, and soon thereafter a prominent film industry emerged, eventually becoming the most recognizable film industry in the world. Motion Picture Industry Four major film companies – Paramount, Warner Bros., RKO, and Columbia – had studios in Hollywood, as did several minor companies and rental studios. In the 1920s, Hollywood was the fifth-largest industry in the nation. Hollywood became known as Tinseltown because of the glittering image of the movie industry. Hollywood has since become a major center for film study in the United States. Development In 1923, the Hollywood sign was erected in the Hollywood Hills, reading "HOLLYWOODLAND," its purpose being to advertise a housing development. In 1949, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce entered a contract with the City of Los Angeles to repair and rebuild the sign. The contract stipulated that "LAND" be removed to spell "HOLLYWOOD" and reflect the district, not the housing development. During the early 1950s, the Hollywood Freeway was constructed through the northeast corner of Hollywood. The Capitol Records Building on Vine Street, just north of Hollywood Boulevard, was built in 1956, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame was created in 1958 as a tribute to artists and other significant contributors to the entertainment industry. The official opening was on February 8, 1960. The Hollywood Boulevard Commercial and Entertainment District was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. The Dolby Theatre, which opened in 2001 as the Kodak Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center mall, is the home of the Oscars. The mall is located where the historic Hollywood Hotel once stood. Revitalization After years of serious decline in the 1980s, many Hollywood landmarks were threatened with demolition. Columbia Square, at the northeast corner of Sunset Boulevard and Gower Street, is part of the ongoing rebirth of Hollywood. The Art Deco-style studio complex completed in 1938, which was once the Hollywood headquarters for CBS, became home to a new generation of broadcasters when cable television networks MTV, Comedy Central, BET and Spike TV consolidated their offices here in 2014 as part of a $420-million office, residential and retail complex. Since 2000, Hollywood has been increasingly gentrified due to revitalization by private enterprise and public planners. About West Hollywood: West Hollywood, occasionally referred to locally as WeHo (/ˈwiːhoʊ/), is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. Incorporated in 1984, it is home to the Sunset Strip. As of the 2010 census, its population was 34,399.[7] It is considered one of the most prominent gay villages in the United States.[9] Geography[edit] West Hollywood is bounded by the city of Beverly Hills on the west,[10] and on other sides by neighborhoods of the city of Los Angeles: Hollywood Hills on the north,[11] Hollywood on the east,[12] the Fairfax District on the southeast, and Beverly Grove on the southwest.[13] The city's irregular boundary is featured in its logo; it was largely formed from the unincorporated Los Angeles County area that had not become part of the surrounding cities.[14] West Hollywood benefits from a very dense, compact urban form with small lots, mixed land use, and a walkable street grid. According to Walkscore, a website that ranks cities based on walkability, West Hollywood is the most walkable city in California with a Walkscore of 89.[15] Commercial corridors include the nightlife and dining focused on the Sunset Strip, along Santa Monica Boulevard, and the Avenues of Art and Design along Robertson, Melrose, and Beverly Boulevard.[citation needed] Residential neighborhoods in West Hollywood include the Norma Triangle, West Hollywood North, West Hollywood West, West Hollywood East, and West Hollywood Heights, all of which are only a few blocks long or wide. Major intersecting streets typically provide amenities within walking distance of adjacent neighborhoods.

City of West Hollywood Automated Parking Garage Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Tour
The first municipal fully-automated parking garage on the West Coast is now open to the West Hollywood, California, community. After years of suffering with less than one-third the required and necessary vehicle parking adjacent to the existing city hall, a state-of-the-art, sustainable parking solution provides 200 parking spaces for use by the city staff, residents and local businesses. Since the vehicles are non-operational during the parking and retrieval process, the reduction in carbon dioxide emissions equates to removing 92 cars from the road each year or the planting of 67,000 trees. The shell surrounding the warehouse features environmentally-friendly materials, like composite wood panels made primarily from recycled plastic grocery bags. City of West Hollywood: Celebrating 30 Years of Russian Culture
When the City of West Hollywood first incorporated, it became home to a significant number of immigrants from the former Soviet Union. Most were Jewish and began their journey to America in the 1970's in an effort to escape Soviet oppression. Many of these immigrants are survivors of the Holocaust, and many others fought against Nazi tyranny in the armed forces of the former Soviet Union. In 2015, the City of West Hollywood celebrated their 30th Anniversary of cityhood. As part of that milestone, the City embarked on creating a short video detailing this thriving community and their 30 year contribution to the tapestry that is West Hollywood today.

City of West Hollywood Employees Tell Public to BUZZ OFF
RESPONSE FROM CITY OF WEHO: Anne McIntosh, Director of Community Development for the city of West Hollwood, which reads: "Thank you for inviting my comments. The City Hall employee video you posted was filmed before I was hired to be the Director of Community Development for the City, last July 15, 2009." "I am certain that the video was made in jest. However, I didn't find anything funny about it myself. Our job is to serve our community -- the people who live and make a living in the City of West Hollywood. The staff of the Community Development Department today is professional, knowledgeable and respectful. We enjoy our constituents." "There are plenty of opportunities to have fun doing the work we do -- after all, we get to work in a great place -- the amazing City of West Hollywood! But none of that fun should come at the expense of those we serve. I apologize to anyone who took offense at the video and assure you that it does not reflect our values." The City of West Hollywood asked YouTube to remove the original video posted by someone else, claiming copyright. Therefore, the video is claimed to be owned by the City and is subject to Public Records disclosure and we are reposting it now, with that info, as a newsworthy item of public interest.
