how to create directory in oracle 12c, 11g

02:52
Use the CREATE DIRECTORY statement to create a directory object. A directory object specifies an alias for a directory on the server file system where external binary file LOBs and external table data are located. You can use directory names when referring to BFILEs in your PL/SQL code and OCI calls, rather than hard coding the operating system path name, for management flexibility. All directories are created in a single namespace and are not owned by an individual schema. You can secure access to the BFILEs stored within the directory structure by granting object privileges on the directories to specific users. You must have CREATE ANY DIRECTORY system privilege to create directories. When you create a directory, you are automatically granted the READ and WRITE object privileges on the directory, and you can grant these privileges to other users and roles. The DBA can also grant these privileges to other users and roles. WRITE privileges on a directory are useful in connection with external tables. They let the grantee determine whether the external table agent can write a log file or a bad file to the directory. For file storage, you must also create a corresponding operating system directory, an ASM disk group, or a directory within an ASM disk group. Your system or database administrator must ensure that the operating system directory has the correct read and write permissions for Oracle Database processes. Privileges granted for the directory are created independently of the permissions defined for the operating system directory, and the two may or may not correspond exactly. For example, an error occurs if sample user hr is granted READ privilege on the directory object but the corresponding operating system directory does not have READ permission defined for Oracle Database processes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Default directory is DATA_PUMP_DIR.Below command is to get directory name and directory path. SELECT directory_name, directory_path FROM dba_directories WHERE directory_name='DATA_PUMP_DIR' DIRECTORY_NAME DIRECTORY_PATH --------------- ------------------------------------------------------- DATA_PUMP_DIR /u01/app/mohammad75/product/12.1.0/dbhome_1/rdbms/log/

External Table in ORACLE Creating and Loading data from external tables

24:30
External Table in ORACLE Creating and Loading data from external tables. To Learn or Teach Linux visit www.theskillpedia.com, A Marketplace for Learners and Trainers. Creating and Loading an External Table Using ORACLE_LOADER The steps in this demonstration show an example of using the ORACLE_LOADER access driver to create and load an external table. A traditional table named emp_list is defined along with an external table named emp_load. The external data is then loaded into an internal table. Step 1. Log in as oracle user and create a Directory to place the data file /u01/app/datafiles: $ mkdir –p /u01/app/datafiles Step 2 Create a file emp_data.dat file with some sample records in /u01/app/datafiles: 45 october, 25, 1968 Sangwan Ram N 09/01/1993 67 december, 25, 1971 Dahiya Sunil D 01/01/1994 Step 3. Execute the following SQL statements to set up a default directory. Notes about this example: • The employee_number field in the datafile is converted to a character string for the employee_number field in the external table. • The datafile contains an employee_dob field that is not loaded into any field in the table. • The substr function is used on the employee_middle_name column in the external table to generate the value for middle_initial in tableemp. • The character string for employee_hire_date in info.dat is automatically converted into a DATE datatype at external table access time, using the format mask specified in the external table definiition. • Unlike employee_hire_date, the DATE datatype conversion for employee_dob is done at SELECT time and is not part of the external table definition.

I'm always looking for new video ideas. Let me know what video you'd like for me to create. --- Video Transcript Time - 00:00 Hello. In this tutorial, you will learn how to connect to a MySQL database with Java. In this session we’re going to learn how to connect a MySQL database with Java. Before we get started there are some prep work that needs to take place. One is that you need to have a MySQL database already installed. If not, you can download one from the site listed here on the slide. Time - 00:20 Next, we’ll need to download and install a MySQL JDBC driver. This driver will allow the Java program to connect to the database. You can download it from this URL, and I’ll do that now. I’ll just take this URL, drop it into my favorite browser and here I am at the page. I’m on this page, this is for downloading the Connector/J browser. I’ll select the platform, platform independent. Now move down and I’ll select download and it will download a zip archive. Make sure you download the most recent version. In this case it’s 5.1.29. Make sure you download something at that version or later. Time - 01:04 Download, scroll down, select, “No thanks, just start my download.” This will start downloading the file for you. Now what we can do is show it in the finder. I’ll double click it to extract it. At this point I have the driver extracted. There’s a file in here called MySQL connector.jar that we’ll use later. Time - 01:34 Next, what I need to do is create a Java project in Eclipse. Let’s do that. On Eclipse I’ll say I’ll save file, new, Java project. This will be JDBC demo and I will select finish. What I’ll do is I will add a new class. New, class, this will be my driver and it will have a public static void main region. At this point we have a shell for our project created. Time - 02:28 Next, what we’ll do is we will talk to the actual development process and I really like this slide because it outlines exactly what we need to do. The first thing we’ll do is add the database driver to the classpath. Next, we’ll get a connection, we’ll submit a SQL query and then we’ll process the result set. Time - 02:48 Let’s start with step one, adding a MySQL database driver to the classpath. In our Eclipse project I’m going to add a new folder called lib, lib for library. In this lib folder I’m going to add the driver that I downloaded earlier. What I’ll do is I’ll just grab this driver. It’s the MySQL connector bin.jar and I’ll just drag and drop it to this lib folder. It will prompt me and I’ll say go ahead and copy the file. Time - 03:25 Next, I need to add the jar file, the driver to the classpath. I’ve set this up with properties, choose Java build path and then I’ll choose add jars. Expand this folder, that lib, I’ll grab that jar file and I’ll have it setup. Great. Time - 03:51 Now we can start coding. We need to get a connection, submit a SQL query and process a result set. Let me just sketch this out on a slide over here. The first thing I’ll do up top is I’ll just do an import on java.sql.* because all of the classes and interfaces that we need are in this package. Time - 04:17 I’ll also just setup a try catch block just to handle for any exception that may occur. Small typo there. Time - 04:40 Inside of this section I’m going to first get a connection to database. Then next I will create a statement. Then from here I will execute a SQL query and then I will process the result set. Time - 05:16 That’s my basic game plan, let’s fill it in with some real code. Here I’ll say connection, myConn = DriverManager.getConnection. I’ll give the jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/demo student, student. Student is the user ID and student is also the password. [snip] Click the Transcripts tab for full transcript.

Oracle RAC 11g R2 Clusterware Installation

50:44
The virtual machine setup shown in previous video"Oracle RAC 11gR2 Pre-requisites Setup" is completed you many now proceed to next level. This video demonstrates Oracle RAC 11g R2 Clusterware two nodes (rac1, rac2) Installation on Oracle Virtual Box. in other words it talks about Installing the Grid Infrastructure. Note:-- This Lab was done on Host Machine consist Windows 8 OS 64bit, 16 GB RAM Reference URL:- https://oracle-base.com/articles/11g/... https://oracle-base.com/articles/11g/oracle-db-11gr2-rac-installation-on-oel5-using-virtualbox#install_grid_infrastructure What is Cluvfy? Prior to 11gR2 we would probably use the "runcluvfy.sh" utility in the clusterware root directory to check the prerequisites have been met. If you are intending to configure SSH connectivity using the installer this check should be omitted as it will always fail. If you want to setup SSH connectivity manually, then once it is done you can run the "runcluvfy.sh" with the following command. You must go to the location like "/mountpoint/clusterware/" in mycase it was "/u01/grid"......then you run command something like below "sh runcluvfy.sh stage -pre crsinst -n rac1,rac2 -verbose" You may have to troubleshoot errors before proceeding to clusterware installation. 1, "./runInstaller" trigger this command to start Oracle Clusterware Installation. 2, Select the "Install and Configure Grid Infrastructure for a Cluster" option, then click the "Next" button. 3, Select the "Typical Installation" option, then click the "Next" button. 4, On the "Specify Cluster Configuration" screen, enter the SCAN name in my case it is "rac-scan" , if you don't know or confused what could be SCAN name then please check "/etc/hosts" file and click the "Add" button. 5, Enter the details of the second node in the cluster, in my case it is like "rac2.sunmerge.com" "rac2-vip.sunmerge.com" then click the "OK" button. 6, Click the "SSH Connectivity..." button and enter the password for the "oracle" user. Click the "Setup" button to to configure SSH connectivity, and the "Test" button to test it once it is complete. 7, Enter "/u01/app/11.2.0/grid" as the software location and "Automatic Storage Manager" as the cluster registry storage type. Enter the ASM password and click the "Next" button. 8, Set the redundancy to "External". if the ASM disks are not displayed, click the "Change Discovery Path" button and enter "/dev/oracleasm/disks/*" and click the "OK" button. Select all 5 disks and click the "Next" button. 9,Accept the default inventory directory by clicking the "Next" button. 10, Wait while the prerequisite checks complete. If you have any issues, either fix them or check the "Ignore All" checkbox and click the "Next" button. 11, If you are happy with the summary information, click the "Finish" button. 12, Wait while the setup takes place. Post them in the comments section below. --- Want to suggest a video for my Hibernate tutorial? Leave a comment below. I'm always looking for new video ideas. Let me know what video you'd like for me to create for this Hibernate tutorial. --- Hibernate Tutorial Transcript Hey. In this video, we're going to cover the Hibernate Configuration. Just a checkpoint here on our to do list, the first thing we need to do is set up our Hibernate Config file, annotate the Java class and develop the Java code. Right now, we're at step one of working on our Hibernate Configuration file. All right, now the configuration file basically tells Hibernate how to connect to the database. Again, remember that Hibernate uses JDBC in the background for communicating with the database. The bulk of the information that we'll have in a config file is that we'll actually have the JDBC configuration. We'll have the database URL, user ID, password and so on just to tell Hibernate how to connect to the database. Then we'll have some of those smaller config items. I'll show you that in a second. Let's go ahead and move into Eclipse. What we want to do is look at the source files that we downloaded for this tutorial. In our downloads folder, and I'll swing it here onto the screen here for a second, in our downloads folder we have this directory or folder here called "Starter Files." Inside of Starter Files we have a very basic Hibernate configuration file. It's called "HibernateConfig.xml." I'll go ahead and right click this file and copy it, and I'll actually paste it into my Eclipse environment. When I paste this file in Eclipse, I have to paste it at the root of the source directory. This makes it available for Hibernate to use it, because it has to be on the actual class path of your application. Here I'll paste it here on the source directory. You can put it in other locations, but to keep it simple, I'll just place it here at the root of our source directory. That's our HibernateConfig.xml. We can go ahead and double click this file and open it up and see what's inside. Here's our file. Near the bottom, click on the tab for "Source" so we can see a source code view of the config file. Let me expand this window here so we can see it full screen. Okay, great, so this is our Hibernate Configuration xml file. We have some parameters here set up for session factory. We'll talk more about session factory in a second. Basically session factory allows us to get session objects for connecting to the database. The most important items here are lines nine through thirteen, where we set up our JDBC database connection settings. Again, we simply go through, we tell Hibernate the actual driver class that we're going to use, the database URL, and the user ID and the password. This all should look familiar to you based on that previous example that we ran for our JDBC test. Again, the connection URL, we simply give local host 3306, HB student tracker, use SSL false. That's it. That basically tells Hibernate how to connect to our MySQL database. Hibernate also has a very basic JDBC connection pool. For our demos, we'll simply set the connection pool size to one because we'll simply run things as a simple Java app. I'll talk more about connection pooling later on when we move into some more advanced development. On lines 18 and 19, we set up our SQL dialect. SQL is a standard, however, as we know, each database has its own little twist on it or its own little dialect. Here we're going to make use of the MySQL dialect. When Hibernate generates the SQL, it knows how to talk to MySQL. They have dialects for each of the different databases, like Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, so on and so forth. This is enough here for connection to MySQL. Then on 21 and 22, I simply set up a configuration to show the SQL so when Hibernate executes, it'll actually print out the SQL that it's going to use when it sends it over to the actual database. This is very useful during development and testing, just to see what Hibernate's doing in the background. This is the end of the Hibernate tutorial transcript

The view then renders the data. Model can be entities or business objects. In part 7, we have built Employee entity. public class Employee { public int EmployeeId { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public string Gender { get; set; } public string City { get; set; } } In this video, we will discuss, retrieving data from a database table tblEmployee using entity framework. In a later video, we will discuss using business objects as our model. Step 1: Install entity framework, if you don't have it installed already on your computer. At the time of this recording the latest version is 5.0.0.0. Using nuget package manager, is the easiest way to install. A reference to EntityFramework.dll is automatically added. Open visual studio - Tools - Library Package Manager - Manage NuGet Packages for Solution Step 2: Add EmployeeContext.cs class file to the Models folder. Add the following "using" declaration. using System.Data.Entity; Copy & paste the following code in EmployeeContext.cs public class EmployeeContext : DbContext { // Replace square brackets, with angular brackets public DbSet[Employee] Employees {get; set;} } EmployeeContext class derives from DbContext class, and is responsible for establishing a connection to the database. So the next step, is to include connection string in web.config file. Step 3: Add a connection string, to the web.config file, in the root directory. Step 4: Map "Employee" model class to the database table, tblEmployee using "Table" attribute as shown below. [Table("tblEmployee")] public class Employee { public int EmployeeId { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public string Gender { get; set; } public string City { get; set; } } Note: "Table" attribute is present in "System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations.Schema" namespace. Step 5: Make the changes to "Details()" action method in "EmployeeController" as shown below. public ActionResult Details(int id) { EmployeeContext employeeContext = new EmployeeContext(); Employee employee = employeeContext.Employees.Single(x =] x.EmployeeId == id); return View(employee); } Step 6: Finally, copy and paste the following code in Application_Start() function, in Global.asax file. Database class is present "in System.Data.Entity" namespace. Existing databases do not need, database initializer so it can be turned off. Database.SetInitializer[MVCDemo.Models.EmployeeContext](null); That's it, run the application and notice that the relevant employee details are displayed as expected.
