Here's a vlog of two more days of cruising up the Avon, from Comberton Quay where the last vlog ended, through Pershore and Evesham, and up to Offenham. I went through a lot of locks, all of which were rather turbulent and one of which had a puzzle to keep you guessing. Got a question? This is the start of my trip up the River Avon from Tewkesbury to Stratford-upon-Avon. In this episode I leave Tewkesbury and go past three sailing clubs as well as the mooring our family used to use at Bredon, before tackling two ferocious locks and mooring for the night in a tranquil corner of the countryside at Comberton Quay. We travel through the city past famous landmarks including Christchurch College and Meadows, the University boathouses and regatta course, the Head of the River and Folly Bridge . From the river we take in a side of Oxford's heritage rarely seen by visitors to the city. Quaint Osney Island, well-loved allotments and gardens and majestic and ancient Port Meadow are off the tourist trail but represent some of Oxford's most beautiful and intriguing scenery. Port Meadow, a vast area of common land, has remained little changed since prehistoric times and supports plants and bird-life in abundance. At the top of Port Meadow is Godstow. Godstow was the ultimate destination of Alice Liddell and Lewis Carroll when they followed an identical route to our trip while composing 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'. It is also the site of Trout Island, an inspiration for another of Oxfords literary icons, C S Lewis, and his stories of the land of Narnia.

Our trip up the river Lena was held from 20 to 25 September 2015. The motor ship «Mechanic Kulibin" is the only passenger ship that comes to Tiksi from Yakutsk. During the summer navigation, the ship does about 4-5 voyages to Tiksi and is a vital means of transportation for the residents of the small Arctic villages scattered along the banks of the great river. Our team of marine scientists has undertook this trip after finalising the expedition in the Laptev and Kara Seas. This could happen thanks to the lucky coincidence of completion of our marine expedition with the arrival of the motor ship "Mechanic Kulibin" to the Tiksi port, where we also completed our oceanographic expeditions "Kara-Laptev summer 2015" on board of r/v "Victor Buynitsky."

During a recent visit to the city of Chester I wanted to see what the views were from the River Dee, and the only way to do this was to take a trip on board one of the river boats, which in my case was the Lady Diana. This video is the entire half an hour trip aboard the Lady Diana. Is the cost of a trip up the River Dee aboard the Lady Diana worth the money? Would I recommend it? Would you enjoy a trip up the River Dee? All I can do is let you check out the footage.

Last week the spot up the river I wanted to detect was occupied... I came back this week in hopes to do a little camping on my Birthday and start Diggin' It! Due to computer problems this will be a shorter video than intended but I'm trying to salvage what I can and will try to post more later. Hope you Enjoy.

This is an HD video of a trip I took up the Hex River Pass, in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, on December 20, 2010. The pass was in mainline use for ~120 years until it closed in 1989, replaced by a series of tunnels (one of them 8.4 miles long). Although the electrification was removed, the line itself was saved by local opposition, and a "light rail" train runs up the pass. It starts near De Doorns, about 2 hours from Cape Town. I strongly recommend the trip to anyone in or visiting South Africa - train fan or otherwise (and if you are a train fan, you're in heaven). The line is steeped in history, the scenery is fantastic and the operators are good guys. This video gives you an idea what a boat trip on the Rio Amazonas entails. It was amazing. Sailing up the Rio Amazonas in Brazil was a dream come true. When you board in Manaus and head for Tabatinga (on the border with Peru) you are sailing up river and the trip is longer than vice-verse. We spent 7 days on the boat. Make sure to see the boats in Tabatinga before you buy a ticket. There are big quality differences. I would highly recommend "Fenix" which is the boat we took. The food was good (if you eat meat...which I don't) and the captain and crew very organised. It is not that you see a lot of the Amazonas when you sail on the river, but the fact that you are on a slow boat and can do absolutely nothing except sleeping, reading, writing articles, making love (if you are a couple...which we were not) etc. makes it extremely relaxing to be on-board. And you also get an insight into life in the small towns along the river where the boat load and unload goods. We paid to have a cabin for 7 days. This cost us 300$ for two - so 150$ each. The cabin was small, but cosy with wooden walls, air conditioner and bathroom inside (with brown river-water...but it was a bathroom :-)) To string up your hammock on the deck for 7 days would cost around 100$, so if you are two people it is well-worth your money to pay the extra 50$ each and have the luxury and security (for your things) of a cabin. I absolutely loved the Rio Amazonas boat trip and highly recommend it.

An early morning trip up the fast flowing River Cherwell, on a very cold and icy winters day. Filmed in real-time, this trip takes about twenty minutes. The Oxford canal shares part of its course with the Cherwell in two places.

Trip up the tidal, freshwater stretch of Lost River in Stuart, Florida. Also known by its Indian name Halpatiokee River meaning 'alligator water'. We saw alligators, turtles, snook, largemouth bass and mullet. Look out for them in the movie. There are also manatee's but we didn't see any that day. Although the river is pretty deep the 17' VIP Vision is a little big for the upper stretches . Better to do this in a canoe.
