TOP 10 BEST TORNADOES

11:53
Top 10 best tornado video countdown. Tornadoes manifest themselves in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Some are a wondrous bright white, others are dark horrific, monsters. Most are harmless grazing over rural farmland, others are worst case scenarios. I've been chasing tornadoes since 1999 and these are my top ten best tornado videos. For licensing HD or 4K tornado footage contact [email protected] Tornado Sound: The roar of a tornado sounds different depending on it's size, how close you are and what the tornado is striking. Ones I've heard over open fields often sound like powerful waterfalls. The bigger the tornado, the louder and deeper the rumble. Ones moving through trees get louder and can sound more like a jet engine. In town, where there are lots of homes and buildings an approaching tornado might sound like a freight train with the clickity-clack noises of airborne missiles and heavy debris slamming into your neighbors homes. #10 on this countdown was an extremely close, stationary tornado twirling 50 yards in front of my vehicle. #9 The El Reno Oklahoma on May 31, 2013 was the widest tornado ever recorded. Mobile doppler recorded 295 mph winds just above the surface as this tornado grew to a record breaking 2.6 miles wide. The tornado occurred over mostly rural farm. Because the most powerful winds did not strike any anchored structures, this tornado only received an EF3 rating. #8 was a beautiful, white, shape-shifting EF4 tornado descending from a tight, high base near Alpena South Dakota on June 18, 2014. #7 and # 6 belong to the Pilger Nebraska twin tornadoes that touched down on June 16, 2014. Two tornadoes on the ground at the same time isn't common, however two almost identical powerful EF4's in close proximity is extremely rare. # 5 occurred in Cedar County Nebraska on June 17, 2014. This violent tornado occurred over mostly open farm land and received a underrated EF3. #4 touched down just south of Dodge City Kansas as two mesocyclones buckled into each other like gears. This storm was a long lived cyclic supercell responsible for dropping a dozen or more tornadoes on May 24, 2016. For most of this tornadoes life, it shared the stage with another nearby tornado and at one point three tornadoes were on the ground at the same time. #3 was a long lived, extremely violent tornado touching down near Chapman Kansas or Abilene Kansas on May 25, 2016. For ninety minutes this finely tuned machine was on the ground. Unbelievably, this breath taking EF4 did not claim any lives. #2... If ever a thing haunts your dreams, It might resemble the remorseless Katie-Wynnewood Oklahoma tornado of May 9, 2016. In seconds this EF4 ripped entire roof off its walls and tossed its fragments a hundred meters into the air. The rest of the house demolished. Trees hovers above the ground while roof trusses and 2x4's whirl around the tornado like feathers and a man looses his life. #1 takes us back south of Dodge City to that unprecedented day, May 24th, 2016. At least a dozen tornadoes touched down, but the first one was the ultimate beautiful tornado. For approximately 30 minutes this slow moving, perfect beauty presented the tornado of a lifetime up close! Well lit excellent conditions, with good roads provided a dream come true scenario for even the most dedicated veteran chasers. Daring pilot flies by three tornadoes tearing up the Black Sea

00:47
Dramatic footage released on Wednesday shows a pilot flying a plane past three tornados, known as waterspouts, near the Black Sea city of Sochi, Russia, the previous day. The pilot was able to land safely, with no reported incidents or injuries. Sochi had been put on red alert throughout the day after heavy rain and thunderstorms had disrupted flights from a local airport. The three waterspouts were apparently joined by another nine throughout the day along the city's coastline according to witnesses. Like what you see? 5 Biggest Tsunami Caught On Camera

5 Mega Tsunami Caught On Camera — Enjoy the video. Rate, Comment, Share... Thanx For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Tsunamis are giant waves caused by earthquakes or volcanic eruptions under the sea. Out in the depths of the ocean, tsunami waves do not dramatically increase in height. But as the waves travel inland, they build up to higher and higher heights as the depth of the ocean decreases. The speed of tsunami waves depends on ocean depth rather than the distance from the source of the wave. Tsunami waves may travel as fast as jet planes over deep waters, only slowing down when reaching shallow waters. While tsunamis are often referred to as tidal waves, this name is discouraged by oceanographers because tides have little to do with these giant waves. The 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami was triggered by a 9.3 magnitude earthquake with the initial surge wave of the tsunami measuring 33 metres. It was the largest earthquake-generated tsunami in history. Certain places in the world are subject to earthquakes and tsunamis more than others as there are only seven tectonic plates covering the earth and the borders of these plates lie in certain areas. Swimming with a Whirlpool! (Ocean Whirlpool)

Thank you for subscribing and liking my videos http://www.youtube.com/user/whirlpoolhitman?feature=guide Be Awsome and follow on facebook... https://www.facebook.com/Whirlpoolhitman?skip_nax_wizard=true "Whirlpool" How to Swim in Rough Conditions It's windy and raining time to postpone the triathlon? Not likely. Sooner or later, you're going to be swimming in rough water. But don't fret: An ability to manage waves can ultimately be an advantage. If you're adept at battling waves, it could be a significant upper hand against less wave-resilient opponents. And, if you ever need to breaststroke away from a shipwreck, a healthy ability to navigate stormy seas could end up being a real lifesaver. To start, you're going to need to know how to breathe. In the open water, however, an incorrect breathing style could quickly leave you with a stomach full of salt water. That's why open water swimmers need to coordinate breathing with the conditions. If waves are coming in from your right, breathe left. If blinding sun is coming in from your left, breathe right. This might be trickier than you think, especially if you've spent years in the pool breathing to only one side. Before you tackle rough water, go to a pool and swim a few laps while breathing only on the side that you find least comfortable [source: Murphy]. In rough weather, waves, wind and spray also mean that you'll have less of a window in which to pull in air -- so be sure to make every breath count. Right before surfacing, exhale all of the air in your lungs. That way, when you come up for air, you'll be able to breathe in more quickly. Sometimes, instead of battling the waves, it pays to swim under them. If you get hit by a particularly hard wave, you may be forced to dog paddle to recover, wasting valuable energy in the process. By ducking under those waves like a dolphin, you'll avoid getting jostled often and your rough water swims will be much less frustrating [source: Keppeler]. If a wave is relatively small, save energy by simply hopping over it. Or, if it's small enough that you can just crash through it, simply turn sideways and hit the wave with your hip or shoulder. Do it properly, and the wave will simply pass around you. Warming up before a swim is a good idea in all weather conditions, but it's especially important in rough seas. Get in, splash around, try a test sighting anything that will give you a good idea of water temperature, visibility and current. That way, long before the starting gun goes off, you'll be able to adjust your goggles, suit and swim plan as necessary.

Hurricane vs. Tornado: What's the difference?

03:21
What's the difference between a hurricane and a tornado? I'm Storm Shield Meteorologist Jason Meyers. They're both a testament to Mother Nature's fury. They both spin counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere. And they both cause loss of life and property every year. But they're far from the same thing. For one, they form in very different ways. Hurricanes form in warm ocean waters. Moisture evaporates, rises, and begins to circulate. As the storm grows, winds continue to speed up, and eventually, an eye forms around the middle. Tornadoes, on the other hand, spawn from thunderstorms. Rotation in different layers of the atmosphere within a thunderstorm create a funnel cloud that eventually reaches the ground. Neither one of these processes are necessarily superior than the other, so this is a wash. BUT - something we can compare: size. Hurricanes can be hundreds of miles in diameter. The biggest tornado ever recorded had a damage path of a little more than two and a half miles, but most are only three to four hundred yards. In fact, tornadoes have been known to spawn INSIDE a hurricane! Advantage - hurricane. Now to round 2 - what about wind speed? Hurricanes may be bigger, but tornadoes still pack a punch for their size. Hurricane force winds range from 74 mph for a weak storm all the way up to 157 mph or more for a catastrophic category five. A weak tornado starts out with winds around 40 mph, but an EF5 tornado has winds anywhere between 261 to 318 mph, much stronger than the strongest hurricane force winds. Point goes to tornadoes - tie ball game. Next round - what does more damage? Tornadoes do all their damage using those extremely strong rotating winds. Hurricanes, however, come with a triple threat. They use strong winds, heavy rains, and storm surge - bringing huge waves crashing on shore, causing more flooding. But even so, tornado and hurricane activity vary from year to year, but study after study has shown that on average, they are both equally damaging and deadly. This one's a draw. On to round 4 - who lasts longer? Hurricanes last from a few hours to a few weeks, and the average falls somewhere in between. Tornadoes are on the ground anywhere between a few seconds to maybe a few hours for a particularly strong storm, but the average is somewhere between two and fifteen minutes. Hurricanes go the distance. And this plays into warning time. Since hurricanes take so long to form and do a lot of traveling before reaching land, people usually have plenty of notice to take cover or evacuate. Watches are typically issued two days ahead of time, and warnings are usually issued 36 hours before anything happens. Tornadoes are completely different. Watches are sometimes issued an hour or two ahead of time, and the average warning time for a tornado warning is 13 minutes - just enough time to get to a safe place. Tornadoes are definitely scarier for this reason. And now we've ended up with a tie, and it's settled. Neither of these storms are to be messed with. LARGEST TORNADO EVER!!! From Birth to Death (w/ Radar & Commentary) 5-31-13

08:24
At 2.6 Miles wide, this is the largest Tornado ever recorded. Touchdown was near El Reno Oklahoma on 5-31-13. This tornado was very deceptive to many due to its appearance and size. The bulk of what you are seeing at 2:50 is a large wedge tornado. When the base lifts and flattens at around 3:05 it gave the "tornado" a mesocyclone appearance and when it started dropping large sub-vorticies many chasers lost sight of the big picture. At around 6:02, the tornado is taking up almost the entire frame, however the huge sub-vorticies to the lower right appear to be the only point of ground rotation. What many thought were several tornadoes was in fact just 1. At time code 6:30, this is a separate, smaller anticyclonic tornado. DECEIVING IN APPEARANCE: This 2.6 mile wide tornado received an EF3 rating... There is an intermediate circulation between a mesocyclone and a tornado called a "tornado cyclone." Often the lines between these features are blurry. When this tornado first touched down it took on a classic wedge shape, but then the bottom truncated or flattened out and the wedge transitioned to a tornado cyclone. Under the tornado cyclone if you look closer you'll see a brief smaller tornado or two touch down.. these are suction vortices. Underneath this flat truncated tornado cyclone, almost invisible winds are causing damage on a the scale of a weak tornado. Therefore, the entire area underneath the tornado cyclone is by definition a tornado. The majority of this tornado was only causing EF1 damage, however the highly powerful suction vortices packed winds well over that required to cause EF5 damage... except these most powerful winds never hit any structures to cause the damage or indicators to warrant giving this tornado an EF5. The thing to realize is that tornadoes by definition are not always condensed with clearly visible borders. When I was retreating the circulating winds were blowing the lighter back of my car out from under me. Other storm chasers got rolled, others took direct hits. CORRECTION: The SPC does not give Tornado warnings. To License contact [email protected] EXPLANATION.... We are all aware of the risks chasing tornadoes. The surprising thing to us was that none of us had been killed yet, and even more surprising was that when it finally happened it happened to Tim Samaras, his son Paul and Carl Young. Earlier that day the Storm Prediction Center gave the public a "Loaded Gun" warning for Oklahoma City and surrounding area. Unfortunately this also tells everyone in OKC where there's an excellent chance of seeing a destructive tornado. The streets and back roads were packed with cars and trucks, half evacuating, half racing in. People were hollering, cursing, crashing into each other, panicking, and blocking passage. Horns, sirens, thunder and the gushing sound of a tornado barreling down. At first the storm was moving relatively slow in an Easterly direction. 2 or 3 miles to the South was the Canadian River where most of the backroads / escape routes ended. Straight ahead were several easterly roads heading to OKC. When the tornado materialized i was driving next to it with several other chasers about 25 mph as it inched closer and closer. When it was close enough i hit the gas planning to outrun it. The tornado's radius was growing, accelerating and getting closer.... I could only go so fast due to the traffic in front of me and the tornado was gaining ground. I slammed on the breaks flipped the car around, blasted west and had to drive closer to an EF-5 than i ever want to again... looking at my maps i could see the chasers might be outrun. Then the tornado made a hard left turn to the Northeast and grew to 2.6 miles wide in diameter. If i had to speculate I'd say something random happened to Tim. Somebody ran him off the road or crashed into his vehicle... or some kind of vehicle failure... Tire blow out or windshield gave way... He knew tornadoes tendency to deviate. We may never know, but i'm convinced something else went wrong. Regardless, They died doing what they loved doing and if it happens to me... if i start choking on a peanut while running from a tornado know this... it was worth every second. I love chasing tornadoes and i love cracker jack. My condolences to Tim, Paul and Carl's family and all the other victims of this day. I was looking forward to Tim's lightning research. -h MUSIC: Clips from a few Southern Backtones songs were used namely... RED SIDE SHOP STORE https://goo.gl/hVMWE9 Tropical cyclone: A tropical cyclone is a rapidly rotating storm system characterized by a low-pressure center, a closed low-level atmospheric circulation, strong winds, and a spiral arrangement of thunderstorms that produce heavy rain. Depending on its location and strength, a tropical cyclone is referred to by different names, including hurricane (/ˈhʌrɪkən, -keɪn/), typhoon (/taɪˈfuːn/), tropical storm, cyclonic storm, tropical depression, and simply cyclone.[4] A hurricane is a tropical cyclone that occurs in the Atlantic Ocean and northeastern Pacific Ocean, and a typhoon occurs in the northwestern Pacific Ocean; while in the south Pacific or Indian Ocean, comparable storms are referred to simply as "tropical cyclones" or "severe cyclonic storms". "Tropical" refers to the geographical origin of these systems, which form almost exclusively over tropical seas. "Cyclone" refers to their winds moving in a circle, whirling round their central clear eye, with their winds blowing counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. The opposite direction of circulation is due to the Coriolis effect. Tropical cyclones typically form over large bodies of relatively warm water. The strong rotating winds of a tropical cyclone are a result of the conservation of angular momentum imparted by the Earth's rotation as air flows inwards toward the axis of rotation. As a result, they rarely form within 5° of the equator. Tropical cyclones are almost unknown in the South Atlantic due to a consistently strong wind shear and a weak Intertropical Convergence Zone. Also, the African easterly jet and areas of atmospheric instability which give rise to cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea, along with the Asian monsoon and Western Pacific Warm Pool, are features of the Northern Hemisphere and Australia. Atlantic hurricane: An Atlantic hurricane or tropical storm is a tropical cyclone that forms in the Atlantic Ocean, usually in the summer or fall. A hurricane differs from a cyclone or typhoon only on the basis of location.[1] A hurricane is a storm that occurs in the Atlantic Ocean and northeastern Pacific Ocean, a typhoon occurs in the northwestern Pacific Ocean, and a cyclone occurs in the south Pacific or Indian Ocean. Tropical cyclones can be categorized by intensity. Tropical storms have one-minute maximum sustained winds of at least 39 mph (34 knots, 17 m/s, 63 km/h), while hurricanes have one-minute maximum sustained winds exceeding 74 mph (64 knots, 33 m/s, 119 km/h). Most North Atlantic tropical storms and hurricanes form between June 1 and November 30. The United States National Hurricane Center monitors the basin and issues reports, watches, and warnings about tropical weather systems for the North Atlantic Basin as one of the Regional Specialized Meteorological Centers for tropical cyclones, as defined by the World Meteorological Organization. In recent times, tropical disturbances that reach tropical storm intensity are named from a predetermined list. Hurricanes that result in significant damage or casualties may have their names retired from the list at the request of the affected nations in order to prevent confusion should a subsequent storm be given the same name. On average, in the North Atlantic basin (from 1966 to 2009) 11.3 named storms occur each season, with an average of 6.2 becoming hurricanes and 2.3 becoming major hurricanes (Category 3 or greater).[6] The climatological peak of activity is around September 11 each season. 7 Ways to Survive Natural Disasters

09:35
How to Survive Natural Disasters. Here’s a list of survival tips that can save your life in an emergency. We live in a time when natural disasters occur more and more often and get more and more devastating. Many of us believe we should blame the human race for that. Whether it’s true or not, we all want to know how to survive when those disasters happen. Some rules are universal for most natural disasters. A national campaign called Ready was started in the United States to inform the population about how to get ready for and survive in different emergency situations. It recommends having a basic survival kit to provide you with the most important things just in case. Remember you will need to have enough food, water, and other supplies for at least 72 hours after the disaster. “Other supplies” include a battery powered weather radio, flashlight, first aid kit, a whistle, a dust mask, personal sanitation items (such as moist towelettes), pliers, can opener for food, maps of your area and an emergency cell phone with backup batteries. TIMESTAMPS Hurricane 0:40 Tornado 1:45 Tsunami 3:15 Flood 4:10 Avalanche 5:03 Wildfire 6:00 Earthquake 7:00 SUMMARY - If a hurricane starts while you are driving, leave your vehicle and find a building to shelter in, or a ditch. Stopping in an overpass will not save you. If your home is a trailer and there is enough time to flee to a safe area – do it. - If a tornado starts when you are in a public building, follow the same rules. You want to stay as low as possible. Avoid windows and open spaces such as auditoriums, gyms, and large hallways. Desks and benches can give you some extra protection if you get under them. It is impossible to outrun a tornado. - Tsunamis are so fast they hit the coast minutes after the earthquake. Remember that tall buildings, including hotels right in the beach area, can provide an excellent shelter. In case a tsunami finds you at sea, stay there instead of going back to the coast. It won’t be a safe haven. - Don’t try to be the bravest person around and stay in your house once you hear the evacuation warning. Leave for safety in higher grounds with your important papers in a waterproof container. If a flash flood gives you no time to evacuate and the water is all around you, don’t try to swim across it. - When an avalanche starts, try to move to the side of the slope as fast as you can. There will be more snow in the center of the flow. To move faster, drop any heavy equipment you have on you. If you can’t escape it, try using a sturdy tree to keep you above the snow. - If you find yourself in a wildfire area, it is critically important to ensure that you can breathe. If you fail to do it, you can pass out in the midst of a danger zone. Use a wet cloth to cover your nose and mouth and escape to safety. - If an earthquake starts when you are inside, stay where you were. Experts say that during an earthquake you must drop to the floor, get underneath a table, cover your neck and head with one hand, and hold on with the other hand. Your entire body must be under the table. Don’t try to run out of the building - the exterior of a building is one of the most dangerous places. Super Hurricanes and Typhoons

30:19
Hey Everyone, You can find our 4K UHD content and more great space and science shows on: https://www.magellantv.com/genres/space Hurricanes, typhoons, tropical cyclones: they are creatures of tropical seas, sweeping up heat laden waters, converting it to wind, rain, and waves. Why do a rare few evolve into colossal monsters, that leave in their wake a trail of destruction, death, and despair? Do we now face a rising tide of Super Hurricanes and Typhoons? One reason is that more and more people are moving to coastlines around the world, drawn by a combination of jobs and lifestyle. In the United States, for example, 39% of the population lives in coastal counties. A Columbia University report takes a global look at this trend by identifying major disaster hot spots: the east coast of North America, Bangladesh, the Philippines, the east coast of China. These hurricane-prone coastlines, with their dense population centers, hold enormous potential for economic loss and loss of life. To make matters worse, the oceans have gotten steadily warmer over the last few decades, adding potency to the hurricane's fuel. Sea levels are expected to rise by as much as a meter by the end of the century, increasing the risks of storm surge. As more people pack the coastlines, man and nature are in the midst of an excrutiating head-on collision. Hurricane Ike slammed into Galveston in 2008. The cost in 2010 dollars: 28 billion. Andrew hit Miami in 1992. 45 billion. Sandy swept into New Jersey in 2012. 60 billion. Katrina in New Orleans: 106 billion. Not to mention the loss of thousands of lives.

How To Survive A Tornado

02:09
If you think you should hide in a bathtub when a tornado approaches, think again. Storm chaser Warren Faidley shared survival tips with INSIDE EDITION. While bathtubs were once made of cast iron, today they're too flimsy to be any help, he explained. Outside, do not seek shelter beneath an overpass in case the structure is damaged. Instead look for a ditch and lay as low as possible. 'Lay flat, get down and cover your head if you can," he said. "Hopefully the winds will go right about you." Formation of a Tropical Cyclone

03:42
Tropical cyclones, also called hurricanes and typhoons, cause catastrophic damage when they strike land. When a cyclone’s fury unleashes on population centres, death, injury and wholesale destruction follow. This programme explores the life cycle of cyclones – how atmospheric conditions, ocean temperatures and the Earth’s rotation combine to create them, how they are driven by winds and eventually weaken after moving over land. This particular section explores how atmospheric conditions and ocean temperatures combine to create tropical cyclones. How To Survive A Tornado?

07:04
The first 1,000 people to sign up to Skillshare will get their first 2 months for free: https://skl.sh/infographics33 A tornado is a rapidly rotating column of air that is in contact with both the surface of the Earth and the stormy clouds above. This fierce windstorm is also often referred to as a whirl wind or twister. Most tornadoes are found in the Great Plains of the central United States, because it’s an ideal environment for the formation of severe thunderstorms. In this area, known as Tornado Alley, storms are caused when dry cold air moving south from Canada meets warm moist air traveling north from the Gulf of Mexico. Tornados are hugely destructive forces of nature. If you find yourself face to face with one, quick thinking is needed. The Year the Earth Went Wild - Natural Disasters

01:41:05
Subscribe to Naked Science - http://goo.gl/wpc2Q1 Every other Wednesday we present a new video, so join us to see the truth laid bare... From afar the Earth seems calm, a blue sphere turning peacefully in space, but travel closer and you find a turbulent and terrifying place. An atmosphere where hurricanes and tornados are spawned, and below that a realm of volcanos and earthquakes. Starting just before New Year's Day, on Boxing Day 2004, the year 2005 was the most disastrous on record, with hundreds of billions of pounds of losses and more than half a million deaths. This programme covers the litany of planetary catastrophes, from the extraordinary Boxing Day killer tsunami in the Indian Ocean, through the great Kashmir earthquake to Hurricane Katrina and the devastation it wrought on New Orleans, along with UK events, such as the Birmingham tornado, which reached the highest tornado category, yet miraculously killed no-one. 2005 saw an onslaught of epic-scale climate and geological events across the world, all caught on camera in the most spectacular fashion by professionals and amateurs alike. Using eye-witness footage, interviews with survivors and rescuers and analysis from geological and weather specialists, this documentary charts the incredible natural events of a year where almost every month was affected by a natural disaster. At that time it was the hottest year on record, and the stormiest, people on every continent were affected in some way by the year’s disasters. World leading scientists and climatologists speculate whether the events have been triggered by a real shift in the earth's climatic systems. Some of the natural disasters covered in this documentary : Indian Ocean Earthquake and Asian Tsunami The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake was an undersea megathrust earthquake that occurred on 26th December with an epicentre off the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. The earthquake was caused when the Indian Plate was subducted by the Burma Plate and triggered a series of devastating tsunamis along the coasts of most landmasses bordering the Indian Ocean, killing over 230,000 people in fourteen countries, and inundating coastal communities with waves up to 30 metres high. Maharashtra Floods The 2005 Maharashtra floods refers to the flooding of many parts of the Indian state of Maharashtra including large areas of the metropolis Mumbai a city located on the coast of the Arabian Sea, on the western coast of India, in which at least 5,000 people died. Birmingham Tornado The Birmingham tornado was one of the strongest tornadoes recorded in the United Kingdom in nearly 30 years, occurring on 28th July 2005 in the suburbs of Birmingham. The tornado uprooted an estimated 1,000 trees, removed the roofs of buildings, picked up and deposited cars and caused other damage during its short existence. European Floods The 2005 European floods hit mainly Romania, Switzerland, Austria and Germany, as well as several other countries in Central Europe and Eastern Europe during August. The disaster came at a time when Portugal was suffering from intense forest fires which left 15 dead. Hurricane Katrina Hurricane Katrina was the deadliest and most destructive Atlantic tropical cyclone of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season. It is the costliest natural disaster, as well as one of the deadliest hurricanes, in the history of the United States. At least 1,833 people died in the hurricane and subsequent floods. The most significant number of deaths occurred in New Orleans, Louisiana, which flooded as the levee system catastrophically failed. Kashmir Earthquake The Kashmir earthquake occurred on 8th October 2005 and was centred in the Pakistan administered Kashmir near the city of Muzaffarabad, and also affected the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It registered a moment magnitude of 7.6. The government of Pakistan's official death toll was 75,000. The severity of the damage caused by the earthquake is attributed to severe upthrust, coupled with poor construction.

What is a Tornado? Facts & Information - Geography for Kids | Educational Videos by Mocomi

01:09
What is a Tornado? Watch this video to understand what a Tornado is, how it is formed, and the destruction it can cause when anything comes in its path. Tornadoes are fierce rotating columns of air that are in contact with both the surface of the earth and a cloud. These mostly occur in the United States. As the warm air flows upwards, a downward air current forms, creating a thunderstorm. If a strong wind blows through the clouds, it twists the rising air currents into a whirlwind. This whirlwind spins faster and faster until it forms a tornado. The wind generated by a tornado is the most powerful on the Earth, damaging almost everything that comes in its path. When a building comes in way of a tornado, the air pressure inside the building exceeds the air pressure outside.
