The Jesus Prayer Might Radically Change Your Prayer Life

06:08
Have you heard of the Jesus Prayer? This meditative prayer (like the Rosary) calls upon the name of the Lord in an act of repentance. In this video, Matt Fradd explains how it can help us "pray without ceasing" as St. Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17. MYSTERIES OF THE JESUS PRAYER focuses on the mysteries behind the prayer that is thought to have first been practiced by the Apostles some 2,000 years ago. The prayer is still chanted by monks and nuns in far away caves and monasteries but is mostly unknown to the rest of the western world. Many say that with this prayer, it is possible to communicate directly with God. The Jesus Prayer - Молитва Ісусова

53:37
The Jesus Prayer, also called the Prayer of the Heart, the Prayer of a Single Thought, or simply The Prayer, is a short, simple prayer that has been widely used, taught and discussed throughout the history of Eastern Christianity. The exact words of the prayer have varied, from a simple form such as "Lord, have mercy" to an extended form: "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, the sinner." The form most in use on Mount Athos is "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me." It is particularly used in the practice of the spiritual life known as hesychasm. It is, for the Orthodox, one of the most profound and mystical prayers and is often repeated endlessly as part of a personal ascetic practice. There have been a number of Roman Catholic texts on the subject, but its usage has never achieved the same degree of devotion as in the Eastern Church. A more elaborate version known to some Roman Catholics by the same name goes: "O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those most in need of Your mercy." The prayer is most reflective of the lesson taught by the parable of the Publican and the Pharisee; in which the Pharisee demonstrates the improper way to pray by exclaiming, "Thank you Lord that I am not like the Publican." While the Publican in humility prays correctly "Lord have mercy on me, the sinner" (Luke 18:10-14). And likewise in the Gospels, Peter crying out as he sank into the sea, "Lord, save me." In the Orthodox tradition the prayer is said or prayed repeatedly, often with the aid of a prayer rope. It may be accompanied by prostrations and the sign of the cross. As such, it is used as a means of finding contrition and as a means of bringing about humility in the individual; hence the words "the sinner" are sometimes added as if no other sinner existed but the person praying (though there is no indefinite article in Greek, thus leading to some controversy about whether the translation in English should be "the sinner" or "a sinner"). Monastics often have long sessions praying this prayer many hundreds of times each night as part of their discipline, and through the guidance of an elder, its practitioner's ultimate goal is to "internalize" the prayer, so that one is praying unceasingly there-by accomplishing Saint Paul's exhortation to the Thessalonians to "pray without ceasing" (I Thessalonians 5:17). The use of the Jesus Prayer in this way is the subject of the Russian classic The Way of a Pilgrim. For many, after a time, the Jesus Prayer enters into the heart, so that it is no longer recited by a deliberate effort, but recites itself spontaneously.

Jesus Prayer - Иисусова молитва

05:04
The Jesus Prayer is a short, formulaic prayer esteemed and advocated within the Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox churches. It is, for the Orthodox, one of the most profound and mystical prayers and is often repeated endlessly as part of a personal ascetic practice. In a modern context the continuing repetition is regarded by some as a form of meditation, the prayer functioning as a kind of mantra. Anyway, it is not a mantra or magic formula, but a prayer. The Jesus Prayer according to numerous Church Fathers is "essential" to our spiritual growth. The Jesus Prayer proclaims our faith and humbles us by asking mercy for our sinfulness. The Jesus Prayer is thought to be as old as the Church itself. This prayer song is sung in Church Slavonic language. Phrase is very similar to the Russian language. Church Slavonic is the primary liturgical language of the Orthodox Church in Russia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Belarus, and some other countries. In this arrangement, one sentence repeated again and again, "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me." That's all. Very simple and short. But this is very powerful prayer. If you feel you have lost your peace of mind, or your mind is troubled, or if you need forgiveness, in these cases this prayer (song) gives you a peace of mind, it calms down your restless heart and bring you mercy. For my part, I use this prayer almost every day, continually. How to say the Jesus Prayer? (Fr. Ephraim of Katounakia)

03:02
Fr. Ephraim of Katounakia, a well known ascetic and spiritual father of Mount Athos, disciple of Elder Joseph the Hesychast, teaches us how to pray with Jesus Prayer. WMA (Wisdom from Mount Athos) Series Subtitles: English Fr. Ephraim: "Hey you, little, say the prayer! [wordplay in Greek] Set an hour during the day or the night and say the pray! Word by word and perceive it with your mind! Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me... Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me... Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me... This is how you should say the prayer! And with time, according to the measure of your purity, and according to the measure of your zeal, the first thing you will find is 'joy'! Joy will determine you to say the prayer more often. And prayer will give you even more and greater joy. Another joy will be inside of you, that you didn't know before. Another light, another beauty, another sweetness, another state of well-being. You will see the whole nature bathed in a beauty, in a sweetness... You will see the entire nature, the entire creation of the unseen God. And these are nothing, they are small things, a pebble on the beach... There are many more great things that you will feel by saying the prayer! Then you will have another spiritual horizon, another spiritual food, another spiritual garment, which now you can not even imagine. When God will see your desire, your zeal, that you are looking for Him in the prayer, then you will see what the spiritual things are, the unspeakable goods, what is that Paradise which you feel, foretaste, glimpse, even here in this life... We foretaste the eternal good things even while living on the earth... And they will give us much zeal to serve Christ even more."

The Jesus Prayer - Guided Meditation with Gabriel Gonsalves

22:43
TO DOWNLOAD THIS MEDITATION FOR FREE VISIT: http://www.heartintelligencecoach.com/jesus-prayer/ (Please note, this is the same meditation as "The Prayer of the Heart" I published earlier this year at https://youtu.be/1N8IZSYFnHA, with the only difference that I've re-edited it so that only the name of Jesus is used. This is why it's the 100% Jesus Prayer) DESCRIPTION: In the time of the Apostles of the Christ, there was a practice called The Prayer of the Heart, also known as The Jesus Prayer. In the Jesus Prayer, the words Kyrie Eleison, Christe Eleison, (Lord have mercy on me, Christ have mercy on me) are spoken or sang with an awareness of the heart, while breathing consciously. In the book, The Way of a Pilgrim, written by an anonymous Russian mystic, this practice is discussed with great detail. The earliest description we have of the Jesus Prayer is by a student and companion of the Apostle Paul, Abba Philemon, who died in 54 AD. In a sixth century book called The Life of Abba Philemon, the following instructions were given: With the help of your imagination find the place of the heart and stay there with attention. Lead the mind from the head into the heart and say, “Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me,” quietly with the lips or mentally, whichever is more convenient; say the prayer slowly and reverently. As much as possible guard the attention of your mind and do not allow any thoughts to enter in. Over the centuries, this Christian practice developed further with many saints stressing four basic requirements: 1. Concentration on the heart 2. Concentration on the breath 3. Sincere, devotional, emotion 4. Invocation of Jesus Christ The first three of these are fundamental to what the Institute of HeartMath calls ‘Coherence’. They are also fundamental to the practice of Heart Rhythm Meditation, a simple and powerful Universal meditation taught by Susanna and Puran Bair, founders of The Institute for Applied Meditation on the Heart. To me, this is a fundamental practice for anyone who is committed to following The Path of the Heart, for the greater your connection with the intelligence, wisdom and guidance of your heart, the closer you’ll be to fully activating your potential in all areas of your life. TO DOWNLOAD THE MP3 VISIT: http://www.heartintelligencecoach.com/jesus-prayer/ The practice of Heart Rhythm Meditation helps you increase the neurological connections between your nervous, endocrine, respiratory and circulatory systems – literally uniting the heart, mind, and body to bring you into a state of radiant peace called Coherence. Coherence is a fluid state of awareness; a state of inner calm in which you have your full attention on the here and now, and are able to flow with the rhythm of life, in the most relaxed and joyful way. Some of the many benefits of practicing Heart Rhythm Meditation regularly include… - You will sleep better. - You will develop inner strength and courage. - You will feel more connected to your feelings. - You will feel more creativity in your life. - You may become a more magnetic leader. - You will find it easier to use your concentration and intuition ABOUT GABRIEL GONSALVES Gabriel Gonsalves, a leader in the field of heart intelligence, #1 expert in ‘The Law of the Heart’, founder of the Academy for Applied Heart Intelligence, international speaker, coach, and author, provides cutting edge techniques and spiritual technologies to help people access the wisdom, power, and intelligence of their hearts so that they can create an extraordinary life. Visit www.FESTIVALofFAITHS.org The Jesus Prayer is particularly esteemed by the spiritual fathers of the Eastern Orthodox Hesychast tradition as a method of opening up the heart and brining about the 'Prayer of the Heart.' The 'Prayer of the Heart' is considered to be the unceasing prayer that the apostle Paul advocates in the New Testament. St.Theophan the Recluse regarded the Jesus Prayer as stronger than all other prayers by virtue of the power of the Holy Name of Jesus. Mary Minifie is a classical realist painter who has practiced the Jesus Prayer for almost forty years. She studied the Jesus prayer under Rama Coomaraswamy, son of the renowned art critic and scholar Ananda Coomaraswamy.

THE JESUS PRAYER

12:41
THE JESUS PRAYER CATHOLICS ALL OVER THE WORLD. LET US SHOW THEM THAT WE ARE ONE IN FAITH BY SUBSCRIBING TO OUR CHANNEL. https://tinyurl.com/prayunceasingly The Jesus Prayer is also the focus of the 19th century Russian classic The Way of a Pilgrim. This book chronicles one man’s attempt to follow St. Paul’s advice given, with the help of this prayer, as a means to achieve union with God. The Catechism of the Catholic Church notes that the sentiment expressed in the Jesus Prayer opens our hearts both to humanity’s misery and Christ's mercy. Indeed, it has been called fittingly a “prayer of the heart”. It is wonderfully versatile as well! It can be prayed repeatedly as an aid to meditation by religious, or just as a simple way for anyone to “check in” with our Lord during a busy day, to be aware of His presence and avail themselves of His comfort and strength! The Jesus Prayer is also good in that it focuses on His Holy Name, which, as the Catechism points out, is also a great form of prayer in and of itself (CCC 2668). The Jesus Prayer shows us the way towards true humility. It is so easy for us, especially nowadays, to forget that we are all sinners in needs of God's mercy. He is more than ready to give it to us. All we need to do is ask for it, in a sincere, heartfelt fashion. Indeed, Christ told St. Faustina, the Polish nun to whom he appeared regularly in the 1930's, that he would “pour out a whole ocean of graces” to those who would approach the fountain of His mercy. Many people nowadays seem to have lost a sense of sin. It is both very easy, and very seductive, to fall in to the trap of moral relativism, to fall into the “I'm OK You're OK” mentality, in which we see everyone as basically pretty good, and not as fellow sinners. Still, the Jesus Prayer is a special “prayer of the heart”. Speaking of one's heart, keep these words from the prophet Joel from the Old Testament in mind: “Rend your hearts, and not your garments, and turn to the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, patient and rich in mercy” (Joel 2:13). Good morning, Lord! Today's a new day, a chance for a new start. Yesterday is gone and with it any regrets, mistakes, or failures I may have experienced. It's a good day to be glad and give thanks, and I do, Lord. Thank you for today, a new opportunity to love, give, and be all that you want me to be. Today I want to start the day with you on my mind and in my heart. As I dress, let me wear the armor you've provided daily: the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the belt of truth, the shoes of peace, and the sword of the spirit with prayer on my tongue: praise for you and petitions for those around me and those I meet. Feed me today with your daily bread. As the Bread of Life, your food, like manna, will sustain me throughout any trials and hungers. Help me to set my thoughts on things above and to speak only what will help and encourage others. Keep me from putting my foot in my mouth, and help me guard the affections of my heart today, Lord. Make whatever work I do be marked with excellence rather than perfectionism, as I seek not to make a name, but to make a difference. Help me to treat each person I encounter as you would, with respect and love, forgiving others and asking for forgiveness myself when needed. As I start this day, help me remember that I belong to you, and my desire is to act accordingly. Keep my feet from stumbling and my mind from wandering into distractions that could steal precious time and energy from the most important things you have designed for me. I'm proud to be your child, Lord. And I'm so grateful that you died for me, rising again so that every day could be filled with the wonder of your love, the freedom of your Spirit, and the joy of knowing you. I know earthly life is short and fleeting, Lord. But I want to live today as if it were the first or the last day of my life, giving thanks for every good and perfect gift you choose to give. Today, and every day, I want to live my life for you, Jesus. In your precious name, I pray, Amen.

Miracle Prayer to Jesus, Son Of God, Offering the Past, the Present & Future...

01:27:07
A prayer to Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God offering our past, present and future... Come Experience His Healing Love! ==== Lord Jesus, I surrender myself, my family tree, my community, this nation and the entire world into your holy hands. I renew my baptismal promises today. I reject and renounce satan all his works, his empty promises, his pomps and his ways. I renounce the world, all its false pleasures and false ideologies. I firmly believe and love my God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth. I firmly believe and love Jesus Christ, his only Son and my Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary was crucified, died, and was buried, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father.I firmly believe and love the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. I am sorry for my sins O most loving and kind Jesus. I bring to the feet of the Cross merciful Jesus, all the mortal and venial sins committed by me and my family tree. All the sins committed by me and my forefathers, for the past 9 generations till date I bring it to your Holy wounds. All the sins committed by my friends, companions and colleagues I bring to your pierced and wounded side my sweet Lord Jesus. May the blood and water that gushed forth from your wounded side, wash away my sins, the sins of my family tree, the sins of my companions, colleagues and community members. Wash me clean from my sins and guilt by the precious blood which you shed on the Cross for me. In anger cast me not away from your presence. Have mercy on me O lord as you were merciful to the good thief and to the sinful woman, make me your child. Cover me with your precious blood and hide me in your wounds. Be my strength and fortress. Lead me safely along your path of salvation. Jesus, I now ask you to enter into my heart and touch those life experiences which need to be healed. You know me much better than I know myself. Therefore, bring your love to every corner of my heart. Wherever you discover the wounded child, touch him, console him and release him. Walk back through my life to the very moment when I was conceived. Cleanse my body and free me from those things which may have exerted a negative influence at that moment I was conceived. Bless me as I was being formed within my mother's womb and remove all barriers to wholeness which may have affected me during those months of confinement. Grant me a deep desire to be born again and heal any physical or emotional traumas which could have harmed me during the birth process. Thank you Lord, for being there to receive me into your arms at the very moment of my birth. Thank You for welcoming me onto the earth and assuring me that You would never fail me or desert me. Jesus, I ask you to surround my infancy with your light and touch those memories which keep me from being free. If I needed more of mother's love, send me your mother, Mary, to provide whatever is lacking. Ask her to hold me close, to kiss me, to tell me stories and fill in those empty parts of me which need the comfort and warmth only a mother could give. Perhaps the child inside felt deprived in the area of father's love. Lord, let me be free to cry "Abba", Daddy, with every part of my being. If I needed more of a father's love and security, to assure me that I was wanted and loved very deeply, I ask you to hold me and let me feel your strong, protective arms around me. Give me renewed confidence and courage to face the trials of the world because I know my Father's love will support me if I stumble and fall. Walk through my life, Lord, and comfort me when others were not kind. Heal the wounds of encounters which left me frightened, which cause me to retreat into myself and erect barriers to the people. If I have felt lonely, abandoned and rejected by humanity, grant me, through your healing love, a new sense of worth as a person. People rejected me, they spoke ill of me when I was innocent, and I felt sad and resentful. O Lord Jesus come and heal me. Make me whole by the power of your Holy Spirit. O Jesus crucified for me on Calvary, have mercy on me. I surrender all my compulsive habits and iniquities before you. I renounce in your name O Lord Jesus, every area of anger, envy, pride, lust, gluttony, greed, gluttony, self love, selfishness, self exaltation and self righteousness. I bring every area of fear, worries, anxieties, doubts, confusion, suspicion, negativity, hatred, resentment, bitterness and unforgiveness. I renounce every area of alchoholism, smoking, drugs, sexual immorality, internet addiction, addiction to pornography and every other form of addictions which is offending my body, the dwelling place of your Holy Spirit. == Will you please pray a decade of the Rosary/ short prayer to support this ministry! Thank You & God Bless You!
Björk - Prayer Of The Heart/The Jesus Prayer - Music Video

15:12
Widescreen video for British composer John Tavener's 'Prayer of the Heart' (2004) which he wrote especially for Björk. The Jesus Prayer, also called the Prayer of the Heart, the Prayer of a Single Thought, or simply The Prayer, is a short, simple prayer that has been widely used, taught and discussed throughout the history of Eastern Christianity. The exact words of the prayer have varied, from a simple form such as "Lord, have mercy" to an extended form: "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, the sinner." Bjork sings in Greek, Coptic and English. The Prayer of Jesus and the Prayer Rope

05:52
(Prayer ropes are available at: https://www.monasteryicons.com/category/prayer-ropes) This video is an introduction to the Prayer of Jesus (the Jesus prayer, Hesychasm, the Holy Name of Jesus) and the use of the prayer rope (chotki or komboskini). “I felt there was no happier person on earth than I, and I doubted if there could be greater and fuller happiness in the kingdom of heaven. The whole outside world seemed to me full of charm and delight. Everything drew me to love and thank God: people, trees, plans, and animals. I saw them all as my kinfolk; I found on all of them the magic of the Name of Jesus.” These are the words of an unknown Russian peasant who wandered as a pilgrim through 19th century Russia, with only his Bible, his rosary, and some dried bread, visiting monasteries, shrines, and churches, seeking to know the way to fulfill Saint Paul’s exhortation to “pray without ceasing.” The account of his spiritual journey is immortalized in the book “The Way of a Pilgrim,” in which we discover how he learned the Jesus Prayer – “Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me” – and how this prayer became the center of his life. From apostolic times to the present day, Christians throughout the world have experienced for themselves the blessing, protection, and presence of Christ that can be found through repeated invocation of Holy Name of Jesus. This simple prayer, more than any other, could right be considered Christian meditation. It is known as interior prayer, the prayer of the heart, or among the Greek fathers as “hesychasm,” which simply means “the silence,” referring to the inner peace that those who pray the Jesus Prayer can experience in their hearts and minds. The Jesus Prayer has been the center of the spiritual lives of countless saints in the Church – the fathers of the Egyptian desert, great fathers of the Church like Saint John Chrysostom, well-known saints of the Greek Orthodox Church such as Saint Nectarios of Aegina, and the most beloved saints of the Russian Orthodox Church: Saint Seraphim of Sarov and Saint John of Kronstadt. Saint John Chrysostom: "Abide constantly with the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, so that the heart swallows the Lord and the Lord the heart, and the two become one." Saint Nectarios: "Seek God every day, but in your heart, and not outside of it." Saint Seraphim: "Only those who have interior prayer and watch over their souls receive the gifts of grace." Saint John of Kronstadt: "In the Name of Jesus Christ dwells Christ Himself, wholly, His soul and body, united to the Godhead." Devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus, and meditation upon it, can also be found in Western Christianity. Outstanding examples of saints who practiced and preached this are Saint Augustine, Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, Saint Bernardine of Siena, and Saint Richard Rolle. The more common form of this prayer in the West was simply the name of Jesus, repeated singly, or in groups of two or three repetitions: Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. The Jesus Prayer is not limited to monks and nuns only, and has been used to great benefit by lay people of all classes. [Saint Ignatius Brianchaninov: "The Jesus Prayer is suitable for all people of God without exception, whether monks or lay people. It is a safe way for beginners, that is open to all." To keep the mind from wandering and to keep count of their repetitions of the Jesus prayer, it is customary to use a rosary known as a prayer rope, which is commonly made of knotted wool or satin. In fact, the terms used for prayer ropes in Russian - “chotki” - and in Greece - komboskini -- simply mean knot string, or string of knots. Monastery Icons now offers a selection of high quality prayer ropes. These are hand made by Orthodox Christian nuns in a convent near Athens, Greece. The sisters use a traditional method of intricately weaving strands of wool or satin, with their minds at prayer while their hands are at work. The 100-knot and 50-knot prayer ropes are favorites for private prayer at home or in church. The 33-knot rosary bracelet and the 12-knot finger rosary are convenient ways of literally having the Prayer of Jesus at hand -- helpful reminders to pray without ceasing, as Saint Paul exhorted us. 3
