Crimea's Muslim Tatars allege systematic Russian oppression The Muslim Tatar community in Crimea has suffered many hardships since Russia annexed the peninsula in 2014. Long neglected under Ukraine, many Tatars also opposed the Russian takeover. Now their parliament has been outlawed and many prominent activists have either been arrested or gone missing. Tatar discrimination in Ukraine

02:38
In 1944 the Soviet leader Josef Stalin deported the Tatars en masse, removing a quarter of a million people from Crimea. He accused them of collaborating with Nazi Germany. More than 20 years after returning to the region, Muslim Crimeans say they still face discrimination. From Simferopol in Crimea, Matthew Collin reports.

Why are Russians Converting To Islam | Truth Revealed

04:31
In the Russian republic of Tatarstan, a majority of the population is Muslim -- including a few ethnic Russians who have chosen to convert to Islam. The decision to change religions demands perseverance in the face of doubts from Christians and Muslims alike. But for converts like Sabira and Bogdan, Islam offers not only a new faith, but a new way of life. (Produced by Aleksandr Kulygin)

Moscow mosque opens its doors to non-Muslims

05:09
(28 Mar 2016) LEAD IN: An open day at Moscow's Cathedral Mosque has attracted a large crowd. Both Muslims and non-Muslims had the opportunity to explore the building and its artefacts. The mosque, which recently reopened after years of restoration and renovation, hopes to become a centre of social and religious life for Muslims in the Russian capital. STORY-LINE: The gleaming domes and spires are a recent addition to Moscow's skyline. Moscow's new Cathedral Mosque was opened to the public late last year. And today the mosque has opened its doors to non-Muslims. A long queue gathers at a display case. Inside there's an important artefact - the 'Hair of Mohammed'. This was a gift from Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov when the mosque opened in October, 2015. The mosque's leaders believe this building is important for the country's Muslims. "The mosque is a kind of spiritual shelter, where a person either turns into nothing or is revived. The Moscow Mosque is the main mosque in the whole of Russia. It is a central mosque and it attracts many people, and today we wish to have more non-Muslims here," says Eldar Alliutdinov, Imam of Moscow Cathedral Mosque. He says Russia's 20 million Muslims live alongside the predominantly Christian population in harmony. "Muslims in Russia are not aliens, they are not people who appeared here a hundred years ago. They are natives, and even many historians argue about this - about who was here on this land earlier," says Alliutdinov. "Muslims or non-Muslims, without divisions along the lines of nationality, have been living next to each other from time immemorial, they live as neighbours. It's true, there were different times - you can have a look at history. But this is not the situation we see in Europe or in America (where there are divisions)." Around two million Muslims now live in Moscow, after an influx from the North Caucasus republics of southern Russia, Azerbaijan and the former Soviet states in Central Asia. The city also has long had a sizeable Tatar minority. Part of the day's programme is a Quran reading competition, where children under 14 put their skills to the test. A crowd gathers to hear the children perform and amongst them a regular visitor to the mosque – Mohammed. "In general there is no such thing as persecution (of Muslims) as some people say. I live, I'm a Muslim. Everything is very peaceful, no one bothers me. What's important is to be a good man, a moral man, and there will be no problems whatsoever," he says. "There are extremist movements - but don't go there, don't become a radical. Live as a common man lives. Have common sense. Everything is very good. No one interferes, no one oppresses." Also on offer is a guided tour around the mosque, a chance for visitors to learn more about the building and its artefacts. And Moscow businessman Hadji Ilhomidin Kadirov has come here to pray with his family. The new mosque has transformed the way he worships. "Everybody knows that 10 to 15 years ago - it's impossible to imagine now - a billion Muslims in the world knew that when we prayed, marked Kurban Bayram (Eid al-Adha), or took part in Ramadan, we sat in the street, on the pavement and prayed under rain and in slush and in snow," he says. "But today the almighty has given us an opportunity such as a multi-storied, beautiful mosque where we can pray, both on regular days and on Fridays." Brightly coloured pictures of mosques are displayed on easels in one room of the building. The artworks are produced by children who are busy working away on their masterpieces. Away from the events of the open-day, prayers continue as usual. Built on the site of a smaller, more than 100-year-old mosque destroyed in 2011, it can accommodate 10,000 worshippers. School for Islam opens in Russian mosque

03:48
(16 Nov 2018) LEADIN: A school for Islam has opened in a mosque in Kazan. The 'One-Day School' offers lessons, from purification rituals to the life of Prophet Muhammad. STORYLINE: Galeev mosque in Kazan - now a place of learning as well as devotion. The Spiritual Board of Tartar Muslims has launched a school for Islam here, called One-Day School. It offers five lessons - one per week - on the main basics of Islam. These men are learning the rules for ritual purification. "It is advised to wear a taqiyah, the head should be covered," explains the teacher. The mosque's Imam, Muhammad Miftakhov, says the project is about knowledge and that no one should feel they have to convert to a faith. "The first thing is faith and then the performance of Salah. Of course if a person doesn't have faith - as we know there is no compulsion in religion - no one should force a person to convert to Islam if he doesn't want to," he says. The lessons are free, conducted in both Russian and Tatar. Anyone aged from 12 to 60 - regardless of his or her religion - can participate. Venera Gaynanova is a One Day School student and has been learning the Salah prayer ritual: "I had no experience of performing Salah, no one has taught me but I had this wish (to learn). At the beginning you have lots of questions and I needed a place with like minded people, where we can ask questions together and learn how to perform Salah right," she says. According to teacher Lilya Ilyasova, the aim of the One-Day School is to help newcomers to Islam get over their fears of doing something wrong. "Sometimes people are afraid to come to the mosque. They have these fears like 'I don't perform Salah' or 'I don't wear hijab' or 'I know nothing, how can I come, they will see that I'm wrong, they will probably berate me'," she explains. However, she reassures: "Everyone has his own way to Islam." How Practicing Muslims From Crimea Settle Down In West Ukraine

08:31
A year ago three Crimean Tatar families who are practicing Muslims left Russia-occupied Crimea and moved to the small town of Borynia in Ukraine’s Carpathian mountains. It’s not hard to find them, they are the only Tatars living in the only one 5-storey building in the village - the student hostel of the local college. They wanted to live close to one another and the director of the college offered them the hostel’s second floor. “We arrived here with one big suitcase. We had very little money and it basically dried up during the first month,” Abnudur told us on his way to work. Abdur and some of the Tatars now work as lumberjacks in the forests. Abnudur explained that they also are tasked with explaining to the locals what Islam is and what it means to be a Muslim. “People see the dark sides portrayed in the media. Everything comes from ignorance. People try to invite us to drink 100 grams of vodka, for instance. A typical village person knows very little about Islam,” said Abnudur, “they think they are welcoming us but we explain that it’s better to ask us to coffee”. For now the families income together with the humanitarian assistance they receive is enough to live on. However, their living conditions are basic and overcrowded. An international project created to help refugees from Crimea gave them money to buy a house which they plan to repair and develop. As at the 23 March 2015 the UN estimated that there are 1,178,000 IDPs in Ukraine. For several months a team of Hromadske traveled around Ukraine, from Sloviansk to Lviv, in search of stories of those who were left without their homes because of the war and the annexation. This the first story of part 2 of the Displaced series, a project about the lives of internally displaced persons in Ukraine from the Donbas region and Crimea. // Hromadske with the support of the Thomson Foundation. She is extremely beautiful. Beautiful Uyghur girls. A large proportion of Uyghur girl look quite Mongoloid The two Uyghur girls have a 50-50 caucasoid and Mongoloid look Gulnazar, a Uyghur moel. She have a mongoloid look with caucasoid feature such as sharp nose. The title is a little misnomer. This series of writings will discuss about blond rae in China and these people often live beyond the border of China as well. Most Uyghur have a look bias towards mongoloid. Most of them are Muslim , and they live in China Xinjiang province. A small number of them have blond hair and blue eyes. Uyghur language belongs Turkic language family, an entirely different language from Sino-Tibetan spoken by the majority Han Chinese. The Turkic language continuum spans from China Xinjiang to Turkey Istanbul. The language divergence from Xinjiang to Istanbul could be less than Mandarin and Fujian (Min Nan). Uyghur is mutually intelligible with Uzbek, and in fact should be regarded as one language. The Uyghur/Uzbek language spans from Yumen in China to around the Shumanay area in Uzbekistan. That is a span of around 3000 km. Various sources claim that Uyghur can pick up Turkish within a couple of months of immersion in Turkish language environment. The Turkic people claim that a Turk can traverse from China to Istanbul using without any language difficulties is a wild exaggeration but its not entirely baseless. Below display the cardinal numbering spoken in Turkish and Uyghur. Blond people in China Part 2: Turkic Tribes Turk land spans contiguously from China Xinjiang to European Istanbul. Only Sakha/Yakut is an isolated group in Siberia. The major Turkic languages with the greater number of speakers are 1) South Western Turkic(Oghuz) - includes Turkish, Azerbaijani and Turkmen 2) South Eastern Turikic - includes Uyghur and Uzbek 3) North Western Turkic - includes Kazakh and Kyrgyz 4) North Eastern Turkic (Siberian Turkic) - includes Sakha (Yakut) and Tuvan The North Eastern branch of Turkic is not mutually intelligible even within their its group, due to isolation. If you look at the map above, the North Eastern Turkic live in Siberia, far removed from other Turkic tribes. Other than that, all branches of Turkic languages are highly intelligible among their subgrouping and have a low intelligibility between their subgroup. The worldwide number of speakers of various Turkic languages is as below. Turkish, Azerbaijani and Turkmen can be considered one languages, having total 80 million speakers. Uyghur and Uzbek is also one language having 28.2 million speakers. Kazakh and Kyrgyz can be considered one language as well, having 12 million speakers. The Siberian Turkic has few speakers, for example only 363,000 people speaks Sakha. The origin of Turks Turks originated is widely recognize to be North or North Western China. There could be Turks staying in China proper 2000-3000 years ago. The Northern Chinese could have some genes of Turks. The first verifiable Turkic people, the Göktürk appeared in the North-South Dynasty, and it quickly became a big security problem to China. The Göktürk rulers originated from the Ashina clan, who first comes to historian attention in AD 439. The Book of Sui reports that in that year on October 18, the Tuoba ruler Emperor Taiwu of Northern Wei overthrew Juqu Mujian of the Northern Liang in eastern Gansu, whence 500 Ashina families fled northwest to the Rouran Khaganate in the vicinity of Gaochang The Northern Han Chinese have Turkish gene Every period of Chinese histories, different tribes are mentioned. Detail information regarding the peopling and languages many of these tribes remains obscure till this day. They have all amalgamated into Han Chinese. After the unification of China, mass migration of Northern nomadic still occurs frequently, especially when central government was too weak to provide security. During the period of chaos of Northern China in Jin dynasty from AD 304 to AD 416 , the Northern nomads, and as well as Tibetic tribe mass migrate into China. The gene of early Tang emperor has been shown to be mostly of Northern Nomadic tribe. It is still not clear whether the paternal line is Han Chinese, but the maternal lines are definitely of fmale nomadic aristocrats, from Xianbei tibe.

Qazan Tatars - Volga Bulgars (Tugan yak / Native land) - Tatar song

03:09
Kazan TATARS / Volga BULGARS. Kazan Tatar song "Tugan yak" (NATIVE COUNTRY). Republic of Tatarstan of Russian Federation. Music and culture of Kazan Tatars. Tatarstan is one the most powerful republics of Russia with the great degree of autonomy. Kazan Tatars, formerly known as Bulgars (Bulghars) speak Turkic language of Qipchak group, very similiar to Crimean Tatar (spoken in south Ukraine), Nogai (ancient Cumans of south Ukraine and of Hungarian puszta / Kunsag province), Turkish, Kazakh, Bashqir, Azeri, Uzbek. Unlike Turks, Tatars use Cyrillic script. Most of Volga Tatars are Moslems but many are Orthodox Christians. -------------------------------------------------------- As a nation, Kazan Tatars are a great mixture of peoples (they say the very name "Bulgar" means "mixed") and officially consist of two major subgroups: 1-st subgroup of Volga Tatars: western Mishars (Mazhars-Meshchera) - remnants of turko-ugric Magyars (Magyars were originally Turkic tribe from north Kazakhstan who mixed with Ugrians coming from northerly Perm region). These Mishars also absorbed a number of local warlike scytho-sarmatian Burtasses (Beehive Alans / Ossetians) and Suasses (River Alans / Ossetians) who lived along Volga basin - that's why they have a lot of paternal R1a group. The dominant were Turkic (Qipchak) speaking Magyar tribe (Magyar tribe of north Kazkahstan are quite mongoloid) and their language is a modern western Tatar (Mishar) dialect. 80% of Tatars who live in Moscow are mainly Mishars. Mishars also have some admixture from Volga Finns (Mordvin related tribe) evident in birch-shoes / birch weaven artefacts. 2-nd subgroup of Volga Tatars: eastern Kazan Tatars (Bulgars proper) who are the dominant group. It is believed that Bulgars were originally also a Scytho-Sarmatian tribe, later tatarized / turcosized. Thats why many Tatars have pure European look and paternal R1a goup (Tatar women clothing is very similiar to Gilakis of north Iran and Lemkos of Ukraine, all of same scytho-sarmatian stock), while others have mongoloid features (from invading Ugrian & Turco-Magyar tribes in 8th cen., and later again 12th cen from powerful Mongol invasion who formed Golden Horde centered on Volga. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Modern Russia (originally Muscovite tsardom) is often regarded as successor of Golden horde politically. But ethnically and genetically just Russians of Ivanovo and Ryazan regions (historic Meshchera, original home of Mishar Tatars) are related to Mishar Tatars (and Hungarians themselves, having the most similar genetic Slavic-Mishar pool). Modern Hungary, however was inhabited by Slavic tribes (Great Moravia) before arrival of turco-ugrian Magyars (Mazhars) from Volga, these Pannonian Slavs never moved but became part of Hungarian nation. Thats why they look European. Similiar case was in Bulgaria where Volga Bulgars settled too mixing with Slavs and adopting their language. Otherwise said -original Bulgarians are related to eastern Tatars (Bulgars), while original Hungarians are related to western Tatars (Mishars / Mozhars). Ukrainains too absorbed much of Qipchak culture by assimilating Torks (bearers of Ukrainian last name Torchenko are clear mongoloids) and many Cumans (much evident in cossack culture) related tribes of Qipchak tongue, as Ukrainian Crimean Tatars speak same Qipchak tongue as Kazan Tatars). That is why light mongoloid features are found among many Ukrainians, Hungarians, Russians. ------------------------------------------- Paternal genetics: Tatars have haplogroups I, J2, G and plenty of R1a (Scytho-Sarmatian / East Slavic) and even L. Oscar and Glen continue their exploration of Tatarstan at an ethnic museum that recreates Tatar village life back through the centuries. Watch more films about Food & Cooking: https://rtd.rt.com/tags/food-and-cooking/?page=1 After examining the inner workings of a wooden windmill built by women during World War II, they begin cooking by whipping up some delicious potato pancakes and then, after a quick break for a sleigh ride, make a big meat and potato pie. The only problem is their instructor speaks very quickly and continuously slips into the Tatar language when barking out orders, which thoroughly befuddles Glen. While the pie is baking in a wood-fired oven, the friends check out the village’s camel herd. They are surprised to learn that, unlike their desert cousins, these shaggy camels can tolerate temperatures down to -50°C and produce lactose-free milk. One day in Kazan, Russia. Things to do | 2018 My name is Daria and I live in Moscow. I decided to make a little trip to Kazan for one day. Some facts. Kazan is the sixth most populous city in Russia. It is one of the host cities for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Population of Kazan is more than 1 243 500. Kazan lies at the confluence of the Volga and Kazanka Rivers. There are 2 official languages in Kazan: Russian and Tatarian. And they have 2 presidents. Kazan’s subway has 10 stations. There is an Aero express from the airport. It takes 30 minutes to get to the center. It costs 40 rubles, in comparison, in Moscow a ticket for aero express costs 500 rubles. You will see many historical buildings, the beautiful Volga river, taste national sweets and dishes, meet calm people. In comparison with Moscow this city is calm, the air is fresh, and the prices are lower. Most interesting places are concentrated in the center of Kazan. Let’s start our trip. -Bauman street – улица Баумана -Epiphany Cathedral - Колокольня Богоявленского собора - Monument Carriage of Catherine II -The Kazan Kremlin is the heart of Kazan. -The Kul Sharif Mosque is the great symbol of Kazan and the Republic of Tatarstan. This Mosque was named after a real man who was a hero for people in Tatarstan - Preobrazhenskaya Tower - Söyembikä Tower (Башня Сююмбике )- a leaning tower of the city -Annunciation cathedral - Благовещенский собор — -Agricultural Palace «Дворец земледельцев» - Is a massive beautiful building, with a huge bronze tree in the middle, and a large green space around -Puppet Theatre Ekiyat in Kazan FIND ME ON: Twitter | https://twitter.com/daria_mikhay THANKS FOR WATCHING! :) LIKE & SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE VIDEOS!

The Untold Story of White Slavery (Ottoman Turks, Arab and Barbary Muslim Slave Trade)

13:58
The Ottoman penetration into Europe in the 1350s and their capture of Constantinople later in 1453 opened new floodgates for slave-trade from the European front. In their last attempt to overrun Europe in 1683, the Ottoman army, although defeated, returned from the Gates of Vienna with 80,000 captives.874 An immense number of slaves flowed from the Crimea, the Balkans and the steppes of West Asia to Islamic markets. BD Davis laments that the ‘‘Tartars and other Black Sea peoples had sold millions of Ukrainians, Georgians, Circassians, Greeks, Armenians, Bulgarians, Slavs and Turks,’’ which received little notice.875 Crimean Tatars enslaved and sold some 1,750,000 Ukrainians, Poles and Russian between 1468 and 1694. 876 According to another estimate, between 1450 and 1700, the Crimean Tatars exported some 10,000 slaves, including some Circassians, annually—that is, some 2,500,000 slaves in all, to the Ottoman Empire.877 The Tatar slave-raiding Khans returned with 18,000 slaves from Poland (1463), 100,000 from Lvov (1498), 60,000 from South Russia (1515), 50,000–100,000 from Galicia (1516), during the ‘harvesting of the steppe.’ Numbers from Moscow (1521), 800,000 were taken and from Valynia (1676), 400,000 were taken. 800,000 from Moscow (1521), 200,000 from South Russia (1555), 100,000 from Moscow (1571), 50,000 from Poland (1612), 60,000 from South Russia (1646), 100,000 from Poland (1648), 300,000 from Ukraine (1654), 400,000 from Valynia (1676) and thousands from Poland (1694). Besides these major catches, they made countless more Jihad raids during the same period, which yielded a few to tens of thousands of slaves.878 These figures of enslavement must be considered in the context that the population of the Tatar Khanate was only about 400,000 at the time. (1463-1694) while sources are incomplete, conservative tabulation of the slave raids against the Eastern European population indicate that at least 7 Million European people-men, women, children were enslaved by Muslims. Sources suggest that in the few years between 1436-1442, some 500,000 people were seized in the Balkans. Many of the captives died in forced marches towards Anatolia (Turkey). Contemporary chronicles note that the Ottomans reduced masses of the inhabitants of Greece, Romania, and the Balkans to slavery eg from Moree (1460)-70,000 and Transylvania (1438) - 60,000-70,000 and 300,000-600,000 from Hungary and 10,000 from Mytilene/Mitilini on Lesbos island (1462) (Bulgaru p 567) and so it continued. Barbary Slavery Ohio State University history Professor Robert Davis describes the White Slave Trade as minimized by most modern historians in his book Christian Slaves, Muslim Masters: White Slavery in the Mediterranean, the Barbary Coast and Italy, 1500–1800 (Palgrave Macmillan). Davis estimates that 1 million to 1.25 million white Christian Europeans were enslaved in North Africa, from the beginning of the 16th century to the middle of the 18th, by slave traders from Tunis, Algiers, and Tripoli alone (these numbers do not include the European people which were enslaved by Morocco and by other raiders and traders of the Mediterranean Sea coast), 16th- and 17th-century customs statistics suggest that Istanbul's additional slave import from the Black Sea may have totaled around 2.5 million from 1450 to 1700. The markets declined after the loss of the Barbary Wars and finally ended in the 1830s, when the region was conquered by France. In 1544, the island of Ischia off Naples was ransacked, taking 4,000 inhabitants prisoners, while some 9,000 inhabitants of Lipari Island off the north coast of Sicily were enslaved.870 Turgut Reis, a Turkish pirate chief, ransacked the coastal settlements of Granada (Spain) in 1663 and carried away 4,000 people as slaves. The barbaric slave-raiding activities of the Muslim pirates had a telling effect on Europe. France, England, and Spain lost thousands of ships, devastating to their sea-borne trade. Long stretches of the coast in Spain and Italy were almost completely abandoned by their inhabitants until the nineteenth century. The finishing industry was virtually devastated. Paul Baepler’s White Slaves, African Masters: An Anthology of American Barbary Captivity Narratives lists a collection of essays by nine American captives held in North Africa. According to his book, there were more than 20,000 white Christian slaves by 1620 in Algiers alone; their number swelled to more than 30,000 men and 2,000 women by the 1630s. There were a minimum of 25,000 white slaves at any time in Sultan Moulay Ismail’s palace, records Ahmed ez-Zayyani; Algiers maintained a population of 25,000 white slaves between 1550 and 1730, and their numbers could double at certain times. During the same period, Tunis and Tripoli each maintained a white slave population of about 7,500. The Barbary pirates enslaved some 5,000 Europeans annually over a period of nearly three centuries.

Islam’s Eastern European slave trade by Muslim Turks (Ottoman) and Arabs

The vicious destruction of Constantinople in 1453 shows the religious zeal of the Muslims, their hatred of Christians, massacres, destruction and pillage and of course, the enslavement of 50,000-60,000 people! Turkoman Archer massacre, enslavement, exile, destruction of farming, destruction of trade, depopulation, reduced productivity, and destruction of the normal exchange of knowledge around the Mediterranean and through Christian and Jewish societies, plus colonisation by Muslims---as also occurred in the conquest of Asia Minor. The states of Byzantium, Bulgaria, Serbia...had reached a high level of economic and cultural development before the Muslim attacks. The conquest of the Balkan peoples was disastrous and for centuries trammelled their normal economic and social development. Yet its described as a blessing for the population (they had the chance to become Muslim) and we are fed lies of peace and economic unity. The Turks didnt have a higher culture or better civic organisationthey were semibarbarian tribes bent of pillage and war, enriching themselves with booty.(estates, slaves, money, jewels) and rendered fanatical by the dogmas of Islam Even a brief look at the date list in the slavery series, shows the violence and oppression by the Muslims! Byzantine historian Georgius Pachymeres, a contemporary of the events in the 1262-82 invasion north of the meander, (Paphlagonia, Caria in Asia Minor) described the ruination of towns and monasteries, the fleeing population and the conversion of land into a Scythian desert. He notes indiscriminate massacres, large scale enslavement, the merciless crushing of any resistance and the death of the entire male population where people refused to surrender. The 14th century Ottoman state had only a rudimentary economy with underdeveloped commerce and trades and money was rare. Enslavement served to weaken nations as populations were depleted and moved. Mass enslavements are documented. The remaining populations were severely exploited peasants who laboured for others and were subjected to excessive taxes and fines. Similarly artisans were needed so, despite the routine massacres and deportations, the military was used to stop people fleeing and force them to remain.
