😘 P L E A S E • S U B S C R I B E - 💃 🕺 http://bit.ly/2B0UXdt If you're interested in seeing the northern lights, visiting beautiful Lapland, or dog sledding in Sweden, then this is your guide to a trip of a lifetime. This is your complete guide to the Arctic adventures in Swedish Lapland complete with dog sledding, Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis), snowmobiling, & a trip to the iconic Tree Hotel (aka the treehouse hotel). Our adventure began as we flew through the main Swedish hub of Stockholm and up to Luleå, a city with a population of 80,000 that borders the Arctic Circle. As we stepped outside of Luleå airport, the crisp sub-zero temperatures made us gasp for air. Little did we know that the Arctic adventures ahead of us would be the thing that would truly take our breath away. We arrived at the Treehotel - which is very close to the Ice Hotel and just south of Abisko , a destination in itself, about an 80-minute drive from Luleå in the snow. After a gourmet dinner of arctic char and fresh blueberry dessert, it was time to check into our tree house. We hiked 800 meters up the wintery white path, following the little lanterns that illuminated the snowy hillside. We passed various tree houses of varying shapes and sizes until we arrived at our unique tree house, the UFO. The flying saucer nestled itself in the trees, 20 feet up above ground. Just as though we were in a Star Trek flick, the bottom of the UFO opened up and a staircase dropped down to the ground as if to say, “beam me up, Scotty.” We climbed the staircase and opened the doors to our flying Swedish saucer. From the moment we touched down in Swedish Lapland to our very last day, it snowed. While this may have been beautiful for photos, it’s horrible for viewing the Northern Lights. On our last day, there were rumors that we may get to see the dancing green fairy in the skies. We checked our Aurora app religiously and found out that we may be able to see the Northern Lights between the hours of 9 pm and 11 pm. As we waited for the Aurora Borealis to flare, we stayed warm by doing push-ups and air squats, forcing our heart rates to soar. All of a sudden, Mother Nature opened her green eyes and pirouetted through the Arctic sky and our hearts seemed to stop. There they were – the Northern Lights – right before our very eyes. The world suddenly seemed to stop rotating, time seemed to slow, and we were there – present with our surroundings and connected to the universe. Scott and I immediately embraced, cognizant of the rarity of the moment and grateful for the opportunity to witness Mother Nature at her finest. Thanks for watching! - First impressions (February 2016) - Kiruna (Swedish Lapland) is about 1,5 hour drive from the Abisko National Park. Abisko, in the middle of the auroral zone, is considered to be the best place on earth to see the Aurora Borealis. With its fresh, clear air and its practically permanent cloud-free sky the prerequisites in Abisko are optimal. More or less active northern lights can be seen almost every night.

I decided to travel to Abisko, Sweden to see the Aurora Borealis, also called the northern lights. This was my first time shooting a time lapse of the aurora and I'm not happy with the results but I did learn a lot so hopefully I'll be better on my next trip. https://anthonyjoh.com/sweden/

Lapland (Sàpmi in the Sami language) is the last wilderness in Western Europe, the land of eight seasons, the Northern Lights and the Midnight Sun, is a region divided between four countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Kola Peninsula in Russia. The characteristic climate of Lapland are extremely severe winters, short springs and wet summers. In winter sunlight is limited to a few hours and it is not unusual to see incredible aurorae borealis. From April onwards light is present throughout all 24 hours and in June the sun never sets.

Studying in Sweden is a boon for an explorer like me. My second travel video tells the chronicles of my adventurous journey at Kiruna, a small town in the far north of Sweden above the Arctic Circle, where the summer sun shows his face for two months only while at winter, the city turns up a white wonderland. The polar nights satisfy the wanderers with the most intense northern lights around the place but often go fade away to disappoint the travelers. The further north you go, and the clearer the nights are, the better your chances of experiencing aurora borealis. Don’t forget to check the weather forecast before making your trip to increase your chances, but keep in mind that they can’t be precisely predicted. It is very difficult to predict the northern light view probability months before when you really plan for the trip and book hotels and flight tickets. If you are adventure lover, I can assure you that activities like snowmobile and dogsledding would not disappoint you even if you don’t see the most spectacular northern light. I had my visit in Kiruna during November, when the temperature drops down to (-15 to -20 degree) and the Lapland remains snow-covered making it tempting for the most adventurous Arctic activities like snowmobile safaris, snowshoeing, dogsledding, and moose safari with horses. Snowmobile tours offer the incredibly venturous ways to pave around the snow and explore the snowy city. Ice hotel is undoubtedly one of the famous attractions of Kiruna. The masterpiece, its furnishings and even the glasses are sculpted of ice. This fascinating structure is rehabilitated each winter. Dogsledding is another reward for the travellers. Sleds are drawn by friendly and beautiful Alaskan huskies. It is a thrilling experience altogether speeding through the forests and across the frozen lakes and rivers at Kiruna. In a nutshell, the Lapland had been a perfect recipe for romantic getaways and of course a life-time experience for me. The adventurous activities, tranquil nature and plenty of fresh air stored in this small town melted all my cares away and blessed me a dream coming true. In my opinion, the best time to visit Kiruna is February during the winter and July during summer. Proper cloths are necessary when you are visiting Kiruna. During the winter temperature could be -40 degree. Therefore, brace yourself before you visit there. This video shows a rare display of rapidly pulsating aurora which appeared after an incredibly intense sub storm. We filmed this clip back in February 2017 in Kiruna, Sweden. These pulsating aurorae aren't as bright as the ribbons you'd normally see but it is nonetheless a fascinating sight that you do not see so often. This video was filmed in real time and in full HD with a Sony A7s. The video footage is unedited and resembles what you would see with the naked eye. The ambient audio has been replaced with music, as it was very windy that night. As always visit our website or download the app to get the latest space weather information you'll need to go aurora hunting yourself.
