JavaScript Standard, CSS Keyframes and UI: #1.20 the latest News (the Good Parts of the Frontend)

05:01
Hi! Let's talk today about The #JavaScript Standard, #CSS Keyframes and User Interface. I'm Anatol and you are watching the Good Parts of the #Frontend #development. Let's start with the article "The #JavaScript #Standard" at Ponyfoo. Nicolas Bevacqua rants about a Brief History of #JavaScript Standards, #Browser Support and Complementary Tooling and proposes to take a look at the Future of #Javascript. In case you are keen on JavaScript latest trends, probably you’ll find the "JavaScript Rising Stars" worth reading. It's a complete overview of the current state of the JavaScript landscape, by the numbers. You'll figure out which projects got traction in 2016, by comparing the numbers of stars added on Github, over the last 12 months. If you are a fan of 3D in a browser then you should read the first part in a series of "Three.js 101". In this article you'll learn not only about Scene and Camera, Geometry and Material, but also about Animation and debugging the code. ThreeJS lets us work with 3D graphics on the browser, using WebGL in a very simple way. CSS is amazing. Ana Tudor has proved it one more time. In her post using just CSS keyframe animation she coded a pure CSS random rainbow particle explosion. Often I refer to performance in the frontend development. I think it's a big deal. "Understanding the Critical Rendering Path" by Ire Aderinokun is one of the articles on this subject. Let's talk a little bit about the User Interface. I draw your attention to the article "How to use colors in UI Design" by Wojciech Zieliński on Prototypr blog. Here you can get familiarized with the 60–30–10 Rule being applicable to your design. Color is a tricky concept to master, especially in the digital era. Therefore the author points out several tools that can be of use. Another interesting article on topic is "BUILDING APPS FOR KIDS" by Tanya Unger on InvisionApp blog. I found this post extremely useful. All my professional life I’m developping the applications for the adult users, but I believe it's very important to keep in mind all age group of the users. This principles could be considered for your next application. Here is one more peak: Enki dot com. There you can find a mobile application for our daily workout. You train your mind by flexing your developer's brain muscles. Everyday you’re offered new challenges to level up your programming skills and sharpen your knowledge. I like this idea. If you like this video give it "thumbs up". Thanks for watching and stay curious. Standard Way To Include JS And CSS In WordPress

02:27
WordPress is a largely used software in the world of web. Thousands of theme and plugin authors are contributed to WordPress. We cant avoid use of plugin or sometimes theme for our website. Every plugin or theme developer add JavaScript and CSS as per requirement. If one does not add it in standard way then it can be problematic. Lets say we are using 2 plugins X and Y. In X’s plugin author included jquery.js in bad way. Now Y’s plugin author also including jquery.js file which causing issue. It may be because jquery.js file added twice which may be of different versions. WordPress provides a system to add JS and CSS files. Every developr should use that system only. I this tutorial, you can see the best practice for it. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "How To Add Two Step Authentication On WordPress Website" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q30vfFbNnJ4 -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Intro to ARIA -- A11ycasts #13

09:16
ARIA 1.1 Spec: https://goo.gl/1rGD7S ARIA Authoring Practices 1.1: https://www.w3.org/TR/wai-aria-practices-1.1/ Here on a11ycasts I always try to encourage developers to use native controls rather than roll their own mainly because you get semantics and keyboard functionality for free. But there are situations where you need to build something and there's no native analog in the platform. For these occasions when you need to go offroad and build your own control, the Web Content Accessibility Initiatives Accessible Rich Internet Applications spec (WAI-ARIA) can help you add in the semantics your new custom control is missing. Today on the show I'll cover what ARIA is from a high level and show off some of the features and relationships ARIA let's you take advantage of. Why do semantics matter? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2tzEil5TL0 Watch all A11ycasts episodes: https://goo.gl/06qEUW Subscribe to the Chrome Developers YouTube channel for updates on new episodes of A11ycasts: http://goo.gl/LLLNvf

CSSconf EU 2015 | Glen Maddern: Interoperable CSS

28:38
There have been a lot of ideas and a lot of speculation about the future of CSS in the last year or so, largely driven by the ingenuity of the React community. Will we write styling code purely in JS? Will CSS continue to be useful? Will someone concoct some X-files-style JS+CSS alien-human hybrid language that takes over the world? It’s all possible (mostly). This talk is about a new format for CSS, one that’s now supported by default in Webpack & JSPM, and available with plugins for Browserify. It’s called Interoperable CSS, and it hopes to do for CSS what CommonJS did for JavaScript. Glen Maddern is an independent web developer from Melbourne, Australia. He also organizes CSSconf AU, and does rad web stuff. http://2015.cssconf.eu/

Mike Tylor - WEB COMPATIBLE JAVASCRIPT AND CSS

29:20
What does it mean for JavaScript and CSS to be—or not to be—compatible with the web? Is it possible for some code written last week to continue to work in a web browser 10 years from now? Likewise, could existing code in the wild complicate adding JavaScript language features (i.e., ES2015+) or fixing mistakes in web APIs? In this talk I'll discuss some of the issues that arise when browser vendors attempt to cleanup the messy platform we call the web, either by adding new language features and DOM APIs or removing old ones (if such a thing is even possible)—while attempting to remain backwards compatible(-ish). I'll even talk about some controversial moves made by browsers to support non-standard (cough webkit prefixes) CSS and JS for compatibility reasons.

Advanced CSS Selectors

Most people know the basic selectors, but aren't aware that there are some really useful advanced selectors as well. In this video, I take a look at the universal, direct child, general sibling, adjacent sibling, and a bunch of attribute selectors. While I'm a big advocate of trying not to nest selectors too much, we can use these advanced CSS selectors in fun ways to save us having to write extra CSS. Javascript Tutorial | JS Console in Developer Tools | Ep3

05:25
This Javascript tutorial will demonstrate the console window. Firstly, to understand this question we must understand what is a console. Whenever you think of consoles don't think about Playstations or Xboxes think of the 80's when computers didn't have graphical user interfaces. Instead they only allowed direct input from the keyboard; this is a standard text or console interface. Thus we have the answer, a console is simply where we can execute text commands directly. Have Loads of fun!! In this video we will discuss about Padding and how they work. Margins and padding are pretty simple but powerful. By Tharun Shiv. Have loads of fun. There are 3 basic languages to develop a website. 1 HTML - Hyper Text Markup Language 2 CSS - Cascading Style Sheets 3 Javascript What is HTML? HTML is the standard markup language for creating Web pages. HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language HTML describes the structure of Web pages using markup HTML elements are the building blocks of HTML pages HTML elements are represented by tags HTML tags label pieces of content such as heading, paragraph, and so on. What is CSS? CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets CSS describes how HTML elements are to be displayed on screen, paper, or in other media CSS saves a lot of work. It can control the layout of multiple web pages all at once External stylesheets are stored in CSS files Browsers do not display the HTML tags, but use them to render the content of the page. What is Javascript? JavaScript is a programming language that allows you to implement complex things on web pages. Every time a web page does more than just sit there and display static information for you to look at , Right from displaying timely content updates, or interactive maps, or animated 2D/3D graphics, or scrolling video jukeboxes, etc. You can bet that JavaScript is probably involved. It is the third layer of the layer cake of standard web technologies, two of which (HTML and CSS).

Declaring a Winner Between JavaScript var let & const

28:29
When ECMAScript 6 (also known as ECMAScript 2015) was released a collection of new APIs, programming patterns and language changes became a standard. Since ES6 started gaining browser and nodejs support developers are wondering if they should stop using the traditional var to declare variables.Confused declaring var, let and const? ES6 introduced two new ways to declare variables, let and const. var - has function level scoping and can change the value reference let - has block level scoping and can change the value reference const - has block level scoping but cannot change the value reference Both provide better block scoping that var. const differs from let because the immediate value cannot be changed once it is declared. Variables declared using var are function scoped, which has led to confusion to many developers as they start using in JavaScript. What is bootstrap

06:28
twitter bootstrap tutorial for beginners twitter bootstrap for beginners benefits of bootstrap framework advantages of bootstrap framework twitter bootstrap benefits what is responsive web design what is responsive website what is responsive design use of bootstrap responsive web development responsive web app In this video we will discuss 1. What is bootstrap 2. Advantages of using bootstrap Bootstrap is a free, open-source and is the most popular HTML, CSS, and JavaScript framework developed by twitter for creating responsive web applications. It includes HTML and CSS based design templates for common user interface components like Buttons, Dropdowns, Typography, Tabs, Forms, Tables, Navigations, Alerts, Modals, Accordion, Carousel etc. along with optional JavaScript extensions. Bootstrap framework is based on open standards - HTML, CSS and JavaScript. This means bootstrap can be used with any server side technology and any platform. You can use it with any web application built with any server side technology like ASP.NET, JAVA, PHP etc. What are the advantages of using bootstrap Supports responsive design : One of the greatest advantages of using bootstrap is that it helps us create responsive web applications faster and easier. So the obvious question that comes to our mind is, what is a responsive web application? A responsive web application automatically adapts to different screen sizes (i.e desktop computers, laptops, tablets. mobile phones etc). A responsive application provides optimal viewing and interaction experience i.e easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing, panning, and scrolling across a wide range of devices. So you don't have to worry about your application not being compatible with multiple devices. The images at the following links shows how a responsive and non-responsive application looks like on a mobile device. http://www.webnersolutions.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/responsive-vs-non-responsive-web-design1.jpg At the following link is a live responsive application example. Notice as we resize the browser, the content automatically adpats to the screen size. http://bootstrapdocs.com/v3.0.3/docs/examples/jumbotron/ Saves lot of development time : One of the biggest advantages of using Bootstrap is that it saves lot of development time. Instead of writing code from the scratch, bootstrap offers ready made blocks of code that you can use and customize to suit your application requirements. There are also many websites out there that offer free and paid Bootstrap themes that saves even more development time. Consistency : Bootstrap was developed by Twitter to encourage consistency across thier internal tools by giving their developers a centralised development code. Since all the developers are working using a centralised code, the end result is consistent regardless of who’s working on the project and which web browser is being used. Customizable : If you are using only a few features of bootstrap, you can customize to download only those features using the following bootstrap customize page. http://getbootstrap.com/customize/ Support : As Bootstrap is the most popular framework, it has a very large community base and excellent documentation. Bootstrap's excellent documentation, examples and demos helps a developer learn bootstrap quickly even if you are new to it. If you ever run into an issue you will usually get help quickly and easily from the vast online community and web forums. In our next video we will discuss, downloading, setting up and understanding different bootstrap components. Please stay tuned. 10 Countries That Have Extremely Different Concepts of Male Beauty

11:21
You know how the old saying goes, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” It really couldn’t be more accurate! What’s considered attractive is totally different for everybody. And it’s not just about looks here either. Where we’re from can subconsciously influence our idea of beauty too! So what types of men attract women in different countries? It’s time to find out! TIMESTAMPS The U.S. 1:03 Brazil 2:03 India 3:00 Sweden 3:56 Turkey 4:52 Italy 5:50 South Korea 6:58 The U.K. 8:08 Greece 9:08 Australia 10:03 Music: Take_You_Home_Tonight https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music Preview photo credit: Chris Pratt in Jurassic World (2015): By Capital Pictures/EAST NEWS, https://www.eastnews.ru/pictures/picture/id/34683802/i/0/t/0 bts.bighitofficial #BTS #YOU_NEVER_WALK_ALONE Concept Photo 1: By Big Hit Entertainment https://www.instagram.com/bts.bighitofficial, https://www.instagram.com/p/BP-Sal-DLJS/?taken-by=bts.bighitofficial Animation is created by Bright Side. #bts #jimin #malebeauty SUMMARY -Rough-looking men with a burly physique are starting to get just as much attention as clean-cut sporty type in the US. There’s even a special term to describe these lady-magnets: “lumbersexuals.” -Brazilian women seem to go for guys with light eyes and fair curls. And don’t forget about that six-pack; impressive muscles are always a plus. -It's usually well-groomed and moderately muscular men that melt Indian women's hearts. -Swedish beauty concept is all about men with sometimes extremely slender physiques and a trace of sadness in their eyes. -Handsome Turkish guys are usually very well-groomed and take their hair styling seriously. But to really please the ladies, their chest hair needs to be mercilessly removed. -An Italian hunk is always fresh and stylishly dressed. He isn’t afraid of bright-colored clothes and jewelry. -Hotties in South Korea have baby-smooth skin, fashionably cut and often brightly-dyed hair, and a slender or sometimes even fragile physique. -People in the U.K. have naturally fair skin, and some men often try to remedy this situation by using self-tanners. It's also very common for British lads to have tattoos. -In Greece, if you have dark or mildly silver-streaked hair, a deep gaze, a slim and tanned body, and the all-so famous Greek profile, that's a winning combination for you. -Guys in Australia can spend hours in the gym trying to buff up, and the ladies certainly appreciate their efforts. "How to make browsers compatible with the web" - View Source Conference talk by Mike Taylor

22:58
What does it mean for JavaScript and CSS to be — or not to be — compatible with the web? Is it possible for a site written today to continue to work in 10 years? Likewise, could existing code complicate adding language features or fixing mistakes in web APIs? In this talk I'll discuss the issues that arise when browsers attempt to clean up the web platform, either by adding new language features and DOM APIs or removing old ones — while attempting to remain backwards compatible. I'll even talk about some controversial moves made by browsers to support non-standard (cough webkit prefixes) CSS and JS. View Source Berlin 12-14 September, 2016 Mike Taylor is a Web Compatibility Engineer at Mozilla, working from Austin, TX. Previously he worked as a Web Opener at Opera Software, which is a funny title for pretty much the same thing.

DrupalCon Los Angeles 2015: Style Guide Driven Development: All hail the robot overlords!

01:12:13
The current pace of front-end development is too much to keep up with. There's not enough time to read about the latest tools and techniques, let alone to implement them! And let's face it: our CSS sucks anyway. What we need is someone to do most of the work for us, so we can focus on better CSS. ROBOTS! Fortunately, we are also in the midst of a great transformation in computer programming; agile development is showing us how to iterate our projects so that we can reduce our risk of failure. And agile development requires automation to achieve its goals. Agile development gives us robots. Lots and lots of robots. If you look at integrating agile development with web development, you'll discover it's actually very simple. It's called Styleguide-Driven Development. In this session, we will discuss the two requirements for Style Guide Driven Development: component-based design and automated robots. Our robots will scaffold our projects, build our CSS from Sass or Less, build a living style guide and lint our CSS and JavaScript to warn us of code smells and errors. All hail our new robot overlords! Topics covered: OOCSS, SMACSS and BEM for components Fugly selectors and @extend for bad Drupal CSS kss-node for style guides Gulp.js for task building scss-lint for Sass linting eslint for JS linting Bundler, npm-shrinkwrap and git for version control
