Standard Deviation - Data Science in JavaScript - Fun Fun Function

💖 Support the show by becoming a Patreon https://www.patreon.com/funfunfunction This is the first of (hopefully) many videos where we explore data science concepts, doing the calculations in JavaScript, a language most are familiar with, and with no mathematical notation. First out is standard deviation, a statistical concept which is the average distance to the mean. I spend a lot of time talking about why statistics are important to a programmer, and why standard deviation exists and what it is good for, and we finally do an implementation of standard deviation in JavaScript. 🔗 My video on .reduce https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl98eZpkp-c&index=3&list=PL0zVEGEvSaeEd9hlmCXrk5yUyqUag-n84 My video on .map https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCqtb-Z5YGQ&index=2&list=PL0zVEGEvSaeEd9hlmCXrk5yUyqUag-n84 🔗 Great video visualizing Standard Deviation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRqtXL2WX2M 🔗 What is a "Standard Deviation?" Standard Way To Include JS And CSS In WordPress

02:27
WordPress is a largely used software in the world of web. Thousands of theme and plugin authors are contributed to WordPress. We cant avoid use of plugin or sometimes theme for our website. Every plugin or theme developer add JavaScript and CSS as per requirement. If one does not add it in standard way then it can be problematic. Lets say we are using 2 plugins X and Y. In X’s plugin author included jquery.js in bad way. Now Y’s plugin author also including jquery.js file which causing issue. It may be because jquery.js file added twice which may be of different versions. WordPress provides a system to add JS and CSS files. Every developr should use that system only. I this tutorial, you can see the best practice for it. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "How To Add Two Step Authentication On WordPress Website" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q30vfFbNnJ4 -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

JavaScript Standard, CSS Keyframes and UI: #1.20 the latest News (the Good Parts of the Frontend)

05:01
Hi! Let's talk today about The #JavaScript Standard, #CSS Keyframes and User Interface. I'm Anatol and you are watching the Good Parts of the #Frontend #development. Let's start with the article "The #JavaScript #Standard" at Ponyfoo. Nicolas Bevacqua rants about a Brief History of #JavaScript Standards, #Browser Support and Complementary Tooling and proposes to take a look at the Future of #Javascript. In case you are keen on JavaScript latest trends, probably you’ll find the "JavaScript Rising Stars" worth reading. It's a complete overview of the current state of the JavaScript landscape, by the numbers. You'll figure out which projects got traction in 2016, by comparing the numbers of stars added on Github, over the last 12 months. If you are a fan of 3D in a browser then you should read the first part in a series of "Three.js 101". In this article you'll learn not only about Scene and Camera, Geometry and Material, but also about Animation and debugging the code. ThreeJS lets us work with 3D graphics on the browser, using WebGL in a very simple way. CSS is amazing. Ana Tudor has proved it one more time. In her post using just CSS keyframe animation she coded a pure CSS random rainbow particle explosion. Often I refer to performance in the frontend development. I think it's a big deal. "Understanding the Critical Rendering Path" by Ire Aderinokun is one of the articles on this subject. Let's talk a little bit about the User Interface. I draw your attention to the article "How to use colors in UI Design" by Wojciech Zieliński on Prototypr blog. Here you can get familiarized with the 60–30–10 Rule being applicable to your design. Color is a tricky concept to master, especially in the digital era. Therefore the author points out several tools that can be of use. Another interesting article on topic is "BUILDING APPS FOR KIDS" by Tanya Unger on InvisionApp blog. I found this post extremely useful. All my professional life I’m developping the applications for the adult users, but I believe it's very important to keep in mind all age group of the users. This principles could be considered for your next application. Here is one more peak: Enki dot com. There you can find a mobile application for our daily workout. You train your mind by flexing your developer's brain muscles. Everyday you’re offered new challenges to level up your programming skills and sharpen your knowledge. I like this idea. If you like this video give it "thumbs up". Thanks for watching and stay curious. Intro to ARIA -- A11ycasts #13

09:16
ARIA 1.1 Spec: https://goo.gl/1rGD7S ARIA Authoring Practices 1.1: https://www.w3.org/TR/wai-aria-practices-1.1/ Here on a11ycasts I always try to encourage developers to use native controls rather than roll their own mainly because you get semantics and keyboard functionality for free. But there are situations where you need to build something and there's no native analog in the platform. For these occasions when you need to go offroad and build your own control, the Web Content Accessibility Initiatives Accessible Rich Internet Applications spec (WAI-ARIA) can help you add in the semantics your new custom control is missing. Today on the show I'll cover what ARIA is from a high level and show off some of the features and relationships ARIA let's you take advantage of. Why do semantics matter? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2tzEil5TL0 Watch all A11ycasts episodes: https://goo.gl/06qEUW Subscribe to the Chrome Developers YouTube channel for updates on new episodes of A11ycasts: http://goo.gl/LLLNvf

CSSconf EU 2015 | Glen Maddern: Interoperable CSS

28:38
There have been a lot of ideas and a lot of speculation about the future of CSS in the last year or so, largely driven by the ingenuity of the React community. Will we write styling code purely in JS? Will CSS continue to be useful? Will someone concoct some X-files-style JS+CSS alien-human hybrid language that takes over the world? It’s all possible (mostly). This talk is about a new format for CSS, one that’s now supported by default in Webpack & JSPM, and available with plugins for Browserify. It’s called Interoperable CSS, and it hopes to do for CSS what CommonJS did for JavaScript. Glen Maddern is an independent web developer from Melbourne, Australia. He also organizes CSSconf AU, and does rad web stuff. http://2015.cssconf.eu/

Artur Janc: Security in the world of JS frameworks | JSConf EU 2015

29:43
In the recent years high-level frameworks have become the de facto standard for writing client-side webapp code. Angular, Polymer, or Dart all provide extremely useful abstractions for building applications, but also indirectly expose rough edges of the web platform which often lead to vulnerabilities (e.g. XSS). In my talk I will provide a security engineer’s perspective on some of the common pitfalls which tend to affect code written using such frameworks based on real examples of bugs in Google apps. I will also explain why security reviews of such apps are often more difficult to conduct than those of “bare metal” JS code, what could be done to fix this, and why framework designers should care about it. This tutorial will show you how to setup an environment to locally execute es6 Javascript code. ES6 is short-hand for EcmaScript 6, which is a deprecated name for the EcmaScript 2015 language specification. ES2015 is the 6th version of EcmaScript, thus why it was previously referred to as ES6. For reasons best known to themselves, those responsible for defining the language standard renamed it to ES2015 with the final version of the v6 spec. EcmaScript is the "official" name for JavaScript. Now that ES2015 is finalised, it effectively just becomes JavaScript v6 to most people. Aside from ES4, there is no real difference between JavaScript and EcmaScript. ES4 introduced classes and static typing and was the standard behind Flash's ActionScript 3, but it was never ratified as a JavaScript language, as it introduced too many breaking changes. It was eventually abandoned and ES3.1 became ES5, which is the JavaScript version used in the "HTML5" world. Node come included with a package manager called 'npm' 1.

Mike Tylor - WEB COMPATIBLE JAVASCRIPT AND CSS

29:20
What does it mean for JavaScript and CSS to be—or not to be—compatible with the web? Is it possible for some code written last week to continue to work in a web browser 10 years from now? Likewise, could existing code in the wild complicate adding JavaScript language features (i.e., ES2015+) or fixing mistakes in web APIs? In this talk I'll discuss some of the issues that arise when browser vendors attempt to cleanup the messy platform we call the web, either by adding new language features and DOM APIs or removing old ones (if such a thing is even possible)—while attempting to remain backwards compatible(-ish). I'll even talk about some controversial moves made by browsers to support non-standard (cough webkit prefixes) CSS and JS for compatibility reasons.

Max Stoiber on Styled-Components

06:26
Max Stoiber on Styled-Components Styled-components is a library that allows for the injection of CSS into JavaScript . While it often looks strange at first glance, Max guarantees that users will love it once they give it a chance. The simple organization matched with standard CSS syntax makes for clear and understandable code for both JavaScript and CSS developers. Max and his team started styled-components in React because that felt it was a natural implementation given the structure of React. However, they are trying it out in Angular and Vue and hope to expand to Ember in the future. Max was first introduced to React while doing an internship in London. He has liked being a part of the React open source community but looks forward to more cross pollination between different frameworks. Keep up with Max Stoiber on Twitter @mxstbr For more JavaScript focused news & events, visit http://thisdot.co.
