old: quick ocean cleaner ship remove plastic and oil -v1 - go view new version
--- GO SEE VIDEO OF NEW UPGRADED VERSION 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URy9WSZUyFQ here is my idea of recycling a ship to clean the ocean. Advantages: - quick travel to polluted place, dirt is still local, not yet settled or decomposed - "cheap" construction: recycling of existing ship - fast cleaning of selected polluted area - no waiting for currents or wind - adaptable to type of pollution, variable degrees of filtering: change conveyor belt to fleece or large mesh as needed - very large sweep, combine a few ships for even larger sweep - selectable depth - possible onboard treatments: - drying, sorting, recycling or storage - remove unwanted material (fish etc..) - large onboard storage - possible to use recovered plastic as fuel?

Chinese Ice-class Cargo Ship Arrives at French Port
After a 33-day voyage, Chinese ice-class cargo ship Tian En, designated to transport cargo via the northeastern shipping route of the Polar Silk Road, arrived Thursday at Rouen port, France, where part of the cargo will be unloaded. In January 2018, China outlined its ambitions to extend the Belt and Road Initiative to the Arctic by developing Arctic shipping routes that would form a "Polar Silk Road". Under the guidance of French pilots, the cargo ship sailed into River Seine at 16:00 local time on Wednesday, and anchored at Rouen Port two hours later. Tian En, the first ice-class cargo ship developed by China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, departed from Lianyungang Port in east China's Jiangsu Province on Aug 4. The ship sailed through the Yellow Sea, the Sea of Japan, the Okhotsk Sea, the Chukchi Sea, the Siberian Sea, the Laptev Sea, the Kara Sea, the Barents Sea and the North Sea in Europe, and finally arrived at the port in Europe. The voyage of Tian En covered more than 18,500 kilometers and lasted more than 30 days. The vessel is fully loaded with wind power generation equipment of 37,000 cubic meters imported by European countries including France, the Netherlands and Sweden. On many occasions of the voyage, the ship was besieged by large amounts of floating ice in the Arctic Ocean, and the speed of the ship once slowed down to less than 1km per hour. It also experienced challenges from icebergs, dense fogs and strong winds. Finally, it overcame many difficulties and dangers and successfully finished the mission. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20180906/8089928.shtml#!language=1 Welcome to subscribe us on: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NewsContent.CCTVPLUS Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCTV_Plus LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cctv-news-content Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cctvnewscontent/ Video on Demand: www.cctvplus.com If you are in demand of this video footage, please contact with our business development team via email: [email protected]

The Strongest Multipurpose Ice Breaking Vessel - Umiak I
Umiak I is a purpose-built ice-strengthened bulk carrier constructed for the Voisey's Bay Nickel Company,[3] a wholly owned subsidiary of Vale Inco, to transport ore from the Voisey's Bay Mine. According to an article in the April 2006 issue of The Gossan an internal publication of the Voisey's Bay Nickel Company, the Umiak had completed her sea trials in Japan, and her delivery was expected in May 2006. “Umiak is the Inuktitut name for a supply boat or sometimes called a woman’s boat, and is a fitting name for a vessel carrying concentrate from Voisey’s Bay”.[4] Umiak I makes twelve trips per year, transporting a total of 360,000 tonnes of nickel concentrate, worth $1.5 billion CAD. Fednav also operates a similar ice-strengthened bulk carrier, Arctic, which shares the load with Umiak I. On 30 October 2012, Fednav announced it had ordered a third icebreaking cargo vessel from Universal Shipbuilding Corporation's Tsu shipyard in Japan. The Polar Class 4 vessel, Nunavik, entered service in January 2014. My channel:https://goo.gl/yxuIqm Like us in fb: https://www.facebook.com/seamanpages/... Please like share and subscribe. What Do I NEED to Know about Sea Shipping & Freight Forwarding? TAS 308: The Amazing Seller
This Episode: •Tips for sea shipping products •Freight forwarding issues •The Flexport FF Solution Probably the most intimidating thing about sourcing products for private label sales from an overseas supplier is the issue of shipping. There are all kinds of issues that you have to be aware of including export licenses, taxes, when ownership of the products transfers to you (thus in indicating your liability), customs fees, and more. You can walk that path yourself or you can have someone help you. Scott definitely advises the later. Find out how it works on this great episode where Scott is chatting with Ryan Peterson, of Flexport. HOW RYAN STARTED THINKING ABOUT CREATING A FREIGHT FORWARDING COMPANY. It’s often the pain we experience ourselves that prompts us, entrepreneurs, to build something to solve that problem. That’s how it was for today’s guest, Ryan Peterson. Ryan had experienced some issues with his supplier and the sea shipping options that not only cost him a lot of money through fees and delays but also didn’t allow him to keep his products in stock as easily as he expected. He’d already worked in the overseas markets and figured he might be the guy to figure out some better systems to make things happen smoothly for others. Flexport is his solution. Find out more about Ryan and the Flexport story on this episode of The Amazing Seller. PRODUCT SHIPPING ISSUES CAN TRIP UP YOUR SALES PIPELINE IN A NUMBER OF WAYS. One of the many problems Ryan Peterson ran into that caused him to build the Flexport solution for purchasers of overseas products was regarding timing. What he discovered was that everything had to legally be done in a certain sequence. If it wasn’t, and his product was shipped before a certain requirement was met, the shipping company would charge him daily fees for having his products “stored” at their facility. It’s just one example of the kinds of headaches it can be to ship by sea. But there are answers and Ryan has built the solution, which you can hear about on this episode of The Amazing Seller. WHEN IT COMES TO DEALING WITH OVERSEAS SHIPPING, MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE TERMS. There are all kinds of acronyms and terms used in the sea shipping and freight forwarding that can get you confused. And if you choose the wrong options, thinking they are the right option (which is not entirely unheard of) you can wind up paying lots of money in the form of customs fees and taxes that you really didn’t have to pay. So how do you navigate a field of landmines like that? You need someone to guide you – and on this episode of the podcast, Scott has just the guy – Ryan Peterson of Flexport. HOW ARE YOU GOING TO DEAL WITH YOUR FREIGHT ISSUES FOR PRIVATE LABEL PRODUCTS? If you’re sourcing your products from overseas – China in particular – you are going to have to decide how you are going to handle your shipping issues. You can do it yourself. It’s possible, but you have to know what you’re doing. Or you can hire a company to be the go-between and the one to ensure all steps are being followed properly. To help you make that decision Scott’s brought on an expert from the freight forwarding industry to help you understand the pros and cons of each option – and hopefully to make a good decision for your situation. OUTLINE OF THIS EPISODE OF THE AMAZING SELLER ▪ [0:03] Scott’s introduction to this episode of the podcast and his gust, Ryan Peterson! ▪ [3:50] Ryan’s story and how he build a freight forwarding company. ▪ [6:26] Why issues are always changing in the private label and ecommerce world. ▪ [8:20] Why Ryan wanted to create his own system and company for freight forwarding. ▪ [13:38] The main things to watch out for when it comes to sea shipping. ▪ [17:30] The logistical differences between freight forwarders and parcel post shippers. ▪ [21:58] The freight forwarder’s job to bring all companies and processes together. ▪ [24:54] One of the main things that hangs up sellers who order from China. ▪ [29:55] The Flexport solution to these complicated issues. ▪ [39:43] Ryan’s final advice: Keep at it – learning and growing as you go. A solution for the future
Nor-Shipping Next Generation Ship Award 2015 nominee, the Short Sea Pioneer, is a new concept to try solve challenges with moving transport from land to sea which is highly desired. This concept design includes a mother ship and several smaller daughter vessels. The mother ship sails between major ports, stopping outside smaller ports where the daughter ships dock inside the stern of the mother ship. This enables fast load transfer via a travelling gantry crane installed on the mother ship. The daughter ships can be operated by battery power and recharged from shore. The mother ship can be powered by a hybrid or LNG system. The concept was developed by a consortium that includes NCE Maritime CleanTech, Eker Sandvik Design, Cargo Freighters and North Sea Container Line (NCL).

BIGGEST Salvage Projects In The World
From the Deepwater Horizon Rig event to giant abandoned ships; these are the BIGGEST Salvage Projects in The World ! Check me out on Facebook- http://bit.ly/2isFYRd There are more awesome videos being made every week, like and subscribe to World Unearthed so you don't miss a beat ! 7.MV Cougar Ace | Alaska The Singaporean vessel Cougar Ace is primarily used for transporting cars from Japan to North America. In 2005, it set a record for most cars unloaded from a ship in Canada. Kind of a weird record, but hey, who are we to judge? A year later, Cougar Ace was carrying 4,812 brand new cars, about 97 % being Mazdas. In total, the cargo was valued at $117 Million… Well during an exchange of ballast water, the stuff that keeps boats balanced and stable, the Cougar Ace tipped 60 degrees to port . Which means the ship looked like - This. With some luck, Titan Salvage were able to tug the ship to Unalaska Island, where it was finally “righted”, meaning the ship was no longer tilted, then it was towed to Portland, Oregon for inspections and repair. This incident was quite the nightmare for Mazda. At first, they said the cars would be not be sold as brand new, but after testing the safety of the cars, the company decided to scrap every...single...one.. 6.MV Baltic Ace | Netherlands 5.MV Rena | New Zealand The MV Rena was a container ship with a capacity for 3,351 containers of whatever you want to transfer globally. With an engine that had a max output of 29,497 horse power, this 38,000 ton, 106ft(32m) long ship was built in 1990 and served multiple companies throughout the years. In October 2011, the MV Rena ran aground on the Astrolabe reef near the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand. This was already very bad for the local environment and reef, but things got even worse when the Rena started leaking oil. Because of bad weather, the crew of 20 was evacuated, when the ship started shifting. A few days later, the oil spill was declared the worst maritime environmental disaster of New Zealand, and people were rightly pissed. A few days later, the ship was sitting at a 20 degree tilt, and 88 of the cargo containers fell into the sea. In January 2012, the ship finally succumbed to the sea and broke in 2. By 2014, 77% of the cargo was removed, and major parts of the ship were salvaged. So what is happening today? NOTHING. The ship owners were allowed to abandon the rest of the wreckage, with the stipulation that they will have to pay for ongoing clean up costs, and for the damage the ship has done to the local environment. 4.MV Drake | Australia 3.Deepwater Horizon Rig | USA 2.Chittagong Ship Breaking Yard | Bangladesh Well here is a business of.. Opportunity? In 1960 the ship MD Alpine was beached and abandoned on the shores Chittagong, Bangladesh, a local company purchased the ship and started the scrapping project. The ship was pretty big, and most of the work was done by hand, so the project took years to complete, but it was also the birth of the the ship breaking industry in Bangladesh. Nowadays, the brutal and unsafe work conditions have not changed, but the landscape sure has. 1.Costa Concordia | Italy The Costa Concordia was a beautiful cruise ship that cost some $500 million dollars to build, its maiden voyage was on June 29th,2006, and not even 6 years later, the Costa Concordia was involved in a tragic accident off the coast of Isola del Giglio. The accident was pretty straight forward, the Costa Concordia hit a rock, a 174ft (53m) gash was opened up on the port side of the hull. All power was lost and the ship drifted towards the shore and rolled towards the starboard side. After rescue operations were over, it came time to figure out what could be salvaged from the ship. Smit International, a salvage company assessed that the best course of action was the total write off of the ship as a constructive loss, they were contracted to remove the fuel from the ship. In 2013, the ship was finally brought back to a vertical position, and the salvage costs rose up to $799 million in total. At which point I assume the people doing the estimates said to themselves “Screw it, lets just round up to $800 million”. In 2014, the ship was refloated and prepped for towing, estimates for the total cost rose to $2 Billion. In July 2017, the final pieces of the Costa Concordia were scrapped and recycled, finishing the story of this tragic event.

Maine Maritime Academy - Training Ship State of Maine 2018 Drone
Maine Maritime Academy - Training Ship State of Maine departed May 5, 2018. We had the privilege to be able to film the experience for those who may of missed it. Make sure to check us out on facebook at www.facebook.com/downeastcowboy USNS Tanner (T-AGS-40), was built for the United States Navy as a fast oceanographic research vessel by Bethlehem Steel Corporation at its Sparrows Point Yard in Maryland in 1990. The vessel was the second oceanographic research ship to bear the name of Zera Luther Tanner, a noted oceanographer and inventor of a patented sounding machine. The vessel experienced catastrophic engine failure in 1993 and was laid up by the Navy and eventually transferred ownership to the Maritime Administration (MARAD). The ship lay idle in the James River Reserve Fleet until 1996 when she began a conversion process, which removed her underwater sonar domes and equipment. The two original engines were removed and a new power plant was installed. The newer engine is significantly less powerful than the old engines. The sister ship, Maury (T-AGS-39), now the third vessel of the name TS Golden Bear, retained the original and more powerful enterprise engines. The vessel was modified to increase the accommodations from 108 to 302 persons. New lifesaving equipment and upgrades to existing equipment were accomplished as well as enhancements to the habitability requirements of the vessel. She was delivered to Maine Maritime Academy on 6 June 1997 and sailed her maiden training cruise the following week. State of Maine was called into active duty by the Maritime Administration (MARAD) following Hurricane Katrina and provided living quarters for oil rig workers, who were working to repair damaged rigs, and for Federal Law Enforcement Officers assisting in New Orleans. The ship is normally docked at her pier in Castine when not on a training cruise or in drydock. State of Maine is classed with the American Bureau of Shipping, and all inspections of her hull and equipment are undertaken by this classification society. The ship entered drydock for scheduled maintenance and inspections following the summer cruise of 2007. She also entered drydock following the Summer Cruise of 2012, keeping within the inspection schedule required by US Coast Guard Regulations. Most recently, she entered drydock at the conclusion of her 2017 summer cruise. Ships Engines History
Marine propulsion is the mechanism or system used to generate thrust to move a ship or boat across water. While paddles and sails are still used on some smaller boats, most modern ships are propelled by mechanical systems consisting of an electric motor or engine turning a propeller, or less frequently, in pump-jets, an impeller. Marine engineering is the discipline concerned with the engineering design process of marine propulsion systems. https://tinyurl.com/ships-engines-history

In light of National Oceans Day, President vows to build stronger maritime nation
文대통령 "해양청력ㆍ해군력 토대로 해원강국 입지 굳히겠다" President Moon Jae-in attended a special ceremony marking the twenty-second National Oceans Day here in Korea. The appearance by a sitting president at the official ceremony for the first time in fourteen years... lent weight to the significance of this year's event. Our Hwang Hojun files this report. For the first time in fourteen years,... Korea's president attended the official ceremony of Korea's National Oceans Day, which was held at the Saemangeum Land Reclamation Site, about 270 kilometers south of Seoul. "Once again, I pledge to you that I will enhance our maritime power, revive our shipping and shipbuilding industries, and restore our seas " President Moon Jae-in's attendance at the ceremony comes just a day after he nominated Kim Young-choon to head the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. During his keynote speech, President Moon stressed the seas surrounding the Korean peninsula hold the key to the country's security, economy, and public welfare. Mentioning the current state of national security, the president said it's time to turn the focus towards the open waters, stressing that Korea's maritime power has huge potential, and can be turned into Korea's national power. Moon said he will continue to invest in Korea's naval forces and in research and development for new technologies to defend Korea's maritime sovereignty at all cost, and prepare for the future by exploring job creation opportunities in new industries. He also said that he will take strong actions against any foreign illegal fishing boats. We will make sure not to fall behind in Northeast Asia's maritime competition. We will establish a cornerstone for a community of peace and prosperity. Regarding the recent struggles faced by the Korean shipbuilding and shipping industries, President Moon pledged to provide financial assistance by establishing a public corporation, in an effort to help the industries regain their former glory. President Moon also stressed that he will make sure that a maritime accident like the sinking of the Sewol-ho ferry in 2014 will never happen again. The ferry was raised from the sea in March this year, and the search for the remains of the missing victims continues. Hwang Hojun, Arirang News. MS Oosterdam Cruise Ship Tour - Holland America Cruise Line
English Captions Available!!! MS Oosterdam is a cruise ship of Holland America Cruise Line, a division of Carnival Corporation. As the second expansion to Holland America's Vista-class of cruise ships, Oosterdam is sister to MS Noordam, MS Westerdam, and MS Zuiderdam. The boat's name is gotten from the Dutch interpretation for the eastern compass point, and is professed "Gracious ster-dam." The cruise has been rotating fall/winter travels along the Mexican Riviera and summer in Alaska. In fall 2011 she went to Hawaii for the primary time. However, after January 2012 Holland America dropped Mexico's west drift, to a limited extent because of security worries there in association with the Mexican Drug War and to some degree because of the discouraged journey market in Southern California; the Oosterdam will move to Hawaii, Australia, and the South Pacific. --- Authoritatively dedicated in 2003 by Her Dutch Royal Highness, Princess Margriet of the Netherlands, Oosterdam is the second in our arrangement of Vista-class ships. Thusly she grasps the most recent industry and ecological innovations, for example, her utilization of a diesel-electric force plant for ideal vitality proficiency and an Azipod impetus framework that expands mobility. Typical of Holland America Line's over 140-year history of circumnavigating the globe, the centerpiece of Oosterdam is a great Waterford precious stone globe, unmistakably showed in a three-story chamber. First-time cruisers on board this boat will rapidly perceive the customary touches that make Holland America cruisers regulars: a warm palette of hues highlighting a broad utilization of precious stone, marble, trimmed woods and metal, stunning bloom game plans, inestimable work of art and collectibles and a full wraparound teak promenade deck with cushioned deck seats. Visitors on Oosterdam will have the capacity to "appear and tell" their excursion recollections through the Digital Workshop controlled by Windows®. Free workshops drove by Microsoft-prepared "techsperts" will indicate even the most amateur camera or PC client how to take better get-away photographs, make motion pictures, alter pictures and make scrapbooks utilizing an assortment of Microsoft Windows and Windows Live administrations. Visitors will figure out how to share all their computerized recollections through email, blogging and person to person communication — so loved ones can see where they've been cruising even before they return home. Go along with us on board Oosterdam for a Mexican Riviera journey, beautiful Alaskan travels, or a Hawaiian voyage get-away. --- Cruise Ships Info Youtube channel: youtube.com/cruiseshipsinfo Cruise Ships Info Facebook Page: facebook.com/cruiseshipsinfo Cruise Ships Info Twitter Page: twitter.com/cruiseship_info Cruise Ships Info Pinterest Page: pinterest.com/cruiseshipinfo

ADVANCED STEALTH US Navy LCS2 littoral combat ship
A great video of the US Navy LCS2 littoral combat ship this new ship incorporates stealth shaping and other new technologies. USS Independence (LCS-2) is the lead ship of the Independence-class littoral combat ship. She is the sixth ship of the United States Navy to be named for the concept of independence. The design was produced by the General Dynamics consortium for the Navy's LCS program, and competes with the Lockheed Martin-designed Freedom variant.[10] Independence, delivered to the Navy at the end of 2009, is a high-speed, small-crew corvette (although the U.S. Navy does not use the term) intended for operation in the littoral zone. She can swap out various systems to take on various missions, including finding and destroying mines, hunting submarines in and near shallow water, and fighting small boats (she is not intended to fight warships). The ship is a trimaran design with a wide beam above the waterline that supports a larger flight deck than those of the Navy's much larger destroyers and cruisers, as well as a large hangar and a similarly large mission bay below. The trimaran hull also exhibits low hydrodynamic drag, allowing efficient operation on two diesel-powered water jets at speeds up to 18 knots (33 km/h; 21 mph), and high-speed operation on two gas turbine-powered water jets at a sustainable 44 knots (81 km/h; 51 mph) and even faster for short periods. Name: USS Independence Awarded: 14 October 2005[1] Builder: Austal USA[1] Laid down: 19 January 2006[1] Launched: 26 April 2008[1] Christened: 4 October 2008 Commissioned: 16 January 2010[2] Homeport: San Diego[1] Status: In active service, as of 2015 Class & type: Independence-class littoral combat ship Displacement: 2,307 metric tons light, 3,104 metric tons full, 797 metric tons deadweight[1] Length: 127.4 m (418 ft)[1] Beam: 31.6 m (104 ft)[1] Draft: 14 ft (4.27 m)[1] Propulsion: 2× MTU Friedrichshafen 20V 8000 Series diesel engines, 2× General Electric LM2500 gas turbines,[3] 2× American VULKAN light weight multiple-section carbon fiber propulsion shaftlines, 4× Wärtsilä waterjets,[4] retractable bow-mounted azimuth thruster, 4× diesel generators Speed: 44 knots (51 mph; 81 km/h)[5] Range: 4,300 nm at 18 knots[6] Capacity: 210 t (210 long tons; 230 short tons) Complement: 40 core crew (8 officers, 32 enlisted) plus up to 35 mission crew Sensors and processing systems: SAAB Sea GIRAFFE 3D air and surface search radar[7] Sperry Marine BridgeMaster E navigational radar AN/KAX-2 electro-optical sensor with TV and FLIR Northrop Grumman ICMS (Integrated Combat Management System)[7] Electronic warfare & decoys: ITT Corporation ES-3601 ESM system[7] 4× SRBOC decoy launchers for chaff and infrared decoys[7] BAE Systems NULKA active radar decoy system[7] Armament: AGM-114L/N Hellfire missiles[8] 1× BAE Systems Mk 110 57 mm gun[9] 4× .50-cal guns (2 aft, 2 forward) 2× Mk44 Bushmaster II 30mm chain guns 1× Raytheon SeaRAM CIWS[7] Other weapons as part of mission modules Aircraft carried: 2× MH-60R/S Seahawk MQ-8 Fire Scout The design for Independence (LCS 2) is based on a high-speed trimaran (Benchijigua Express) hull built by Austal (Henderson, Australia). The 418-foot (127-meter) surface combatant design requires a crew of 40 sailors. With 11,000 cubic meters of payload volume, she was designed to carry two mission modules, allowing the ship to do multiple missions without having to be refitted. The flight deck, 1,030 m2 (11,100 sq ft), can support two SH-60 Seahawk helicopters, multiple UAVs, or one CH-53 Sea Stallion-class helicopter. The trimaran hull will allow flight operations up to sea state 5.[11] Independence carries a default armament for self-defense, and command and control. Unlike traditional combatants with fixed armament such as guns and missiles, tailored mission modules can be configured for one mission package at a time. Modules may consist of manned aircraft, unmanned vehicles, off-board sensors, or mission-manning detachments. The interior volume and payload is greater than some destroyers, allowing the ship to serve as a high-speed transport and maneuver platform. The 15,200 square feet (1,410 m2) mission bay takes up most of the deck below the hangar and flight deck. In addition to cargo or container-sized mission modules, the bay can carry four lanes of multiple Strykers, armored Humvees, and their associated troops. An elevator allows air transport of packages the size of a 20-foot-long (6.1 m) shipping container that can be moved into the mission bay while at sea. A side access ramp allows for vehicle roll-on/roll-off loading to a dock and allows the ship to transport the Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle.[12] Bunks and living spaces are below the bridge. The helm is controlled by joysticks instead of traditional steering wheels.[13] Independence also has an integrated LOS Mast, Sea Giraffe 3D radar and SeaStar Safire FLIR.

Maritime Developments - A Company Overview 2014
From Cadet to Captain to Company Director - Abhilash Mehrotra, Director - NewsLink India)
Captain Abhilash N. Mehrotra Director NewsLink Services Pvt. Ltd.(India) Captain Abhilash Mehrotra (Abu) talks about his career both at sea and subsequently since he swallowed the anchor. He tells us did not really plan to go to sea until he read a very inspiring book which led him to remain at sea for close to twenty five years and during that time he became master. While at sea he undertook distance learning and spent some time in the training but later returned to sea. He considers that he did not really enjoy teaching that much however he has found with NewsLink where he started by contributing to the NewsLink Infotainment CD (now DVD) during which time he developed an interest in customer service. Abu gains satisfaction from making a difference to the lives of seafarers on board by providing them with s much sought after service that continues to be enhanced and he looks forward to the time when streaming video can be achieved. The Largest Oil Rig in The World
Perdido is the deepest floating oil rig (platform) in the world at a water depth of about 2450 meters operated by the Shell Oil Company in the Gulf of Mexico. The Perdido is located in the Perdido fold belt which is a rich discovery of crude oil and natural gas that lies in water that is nearly 8000 feet deep. The platform's peak production will be 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. At 267 meters, the Perdido is nearly as tall as the Eiffel Tower. An oil rig is a large structure with facilities to drill wells, to extract and process oil and natural gas, and to temporarily store product until it can be brought to shore for refining and marketing. In many cases, the platform contains facilities to house the workforce as well. An investigative report by CNET left little doubt that the secretive project is the work of Google, who has set the project up under the name "By And Large" -- a play on the By N Large corporation in the Pixar film Wall-E. A patent Google filed in 2008 laid out plans for a data center on a barge that is continuously powered by ocean currents, using sea water to cool the servers. This is yet another way Google is leading the world to a better place, because the electricity dedicated to powering America's growing need for data centers is approaching 2% of total domestic energy usage. Not only is this a good move for the environment, but it will allow Google the flexibility to move its data centers wherever they are needed without breaking them down or building new ones from the ground up. It seems the Buy n Large analogy is becoming truer by the day, what with Google already dominating the internet business, poised to take over the infrastructure of the internet - with fiber, and on the cusp of revolutionizing modern transportation as we know it through its driverless car technology. SUPER FAST stealth attack boat for the US military and Navy
Another great idea for the us military and us navy . This fast attack stealth boat will make a difference. GHOST is a super-cavitating surface craft which is able to achieve 900 times less hull friction compared to a conventional watercraft and is developed by US Citizens for the US Navy at no cost to the US government for providing superior protection to US service personnel. The craft was built by Juliet Marine Systems. The secrecy orders on the project were removed on 11 August 2011[1] Design The Ghost uses a gyro-stabilized dual-pontoon supercavitating hull to run at top speed through 10-foot seas. Called small waterplane-area twin-hull (SWATH), it is controlled by 22 computer-controlled underwater control surfaces. When at rest or moving slowly, the Ghost sits in the water on its centerline module. At eight knots or faster, the high-grade marine aluminum buoyant hulls lift the vessel and achieve full stability. Propulsion on the prototype is provided by T53-703 turboshaft engines, with the company planning to replace them with the General Electric T700 turboshaft. The Ghost has achieved speeds of over 30 knots, and is being tested to 50 knots. It can perform several different missions including anti-surface warfare (ASuW), anti-submarine warfare (ASW), and mine countermeasures (MCM): ASuW armament consists of the M197 20mm rotary cannon and launch tubes that expel exhaust downward between the struts of the SWATH hulls, concealing and dissipating the thermal signature of the launch for BGM-176B Griffin missiles and Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System rockets, with an electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensor and radar; an ASW version could be equipped with an EO/IR sensor, radar, sonobuoy launch tubes, a dipping sonar, and four aft-firing torpedo tubes; an MCM version could be equipped with a towing boom to lower and raise two towed mine-hunting sonars, such as the Kline 5000 or Raytheon AN/AQS-20A. The current Ghost costs $10 million per copy, is crewed by 3-5 sailors, and can be partially disassembled to fit in a C-17 Globemaster III for transport if needed. It is designed for fleet protection for navies with few blue-water needs but require a small and affordable craft in large numbers for near-shore maritime border patrol and defense missions; it is being offered to international customers including Bahrain, Qatar, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and Singapore. High-level discussions have been held with a foreign nation interested in 25 Ghosts for a potential $300 million sale. Juliet Marine is also offering a scaled-up version of the Ghost to the U.S. Navy as part of their re-evaluation of the Littoral Combat Ship program. Plans are to build a corvette-sized Ghost of 150 ft (46 m) in length or more costing about $50 million per vessel, six times cheaper than the $300 million per-ship cost of a current Freedom-class and Independence-class littoral combat ship. One impediment to the U.S. Navy procuring the Ghost is the desire of senior Navy leaders to have large-hulled oceangoing vessels that can also perform inshore operations rather than smaller craft specialized for inshore missions.[2][3] Juliet Marine Systems is a maritime technology think tank that is developing innovative solutions for naval and commercial applications. We seek to assure fleet force protection in response to small vessel terrorist attacks against our Navy and coalition ships. There is a clear and present danger of these tactics being used against the U.S. Navy throughout the world and in our home ports. These same innovative technologies, applied to commercial needs, will provide a significant decrease in transit time and increase in energy efficiency, resulting in the savings of thousands of gallons of fuel daily. Our Navy is in a revolutionary period of change. Historic military tactics combined with modern materials and technology present a formidable fleet protection challenge for our Navy today. One of the greatest threats to our Navy is low tech vessel attacks with conventional explosives, as seen on October 12, 2000, when the USS Cole was attacked, killing 17 sailors and wounding 39 others and in the continued success of pirates. As a maritime systems think tank, Juliet Marine Systems provides offensive, defensive and ISR solutions that are developed in a skunk works operation able to rapidly invent and construct needed technologies and systems for the Navy and armed forces. We have already developed a surface variant of a super cavitating craft and are planning to apply our unique technology in a UUV prototype. While the GHOST is a surface vessel, the hydrodynamics of the twin submerged buoyant tubular foils are also a test bed for Juliet Marine's next planned prototype, a long duration UUV. The GHOST is a revolutionary proprietary technology vessel platform that will assure force protection through stealth fighter/attack capabilities along with integrated situation awareness.

Starship Sleeping Quarters | Sleep Sounds White Noise with Deep Bass 10 Hours
Captain's personal log, Stardate 51134.9: We have just completed peace talks with a curious race known as the Slumbarians, whose 13-minute sleep cycle has made diplomatic relations somewhat difficult. After seven exhausting days of formal dialog, I'm confident that we have come to a mutual understanding and look forward to a prosperous future between our cultures. Tomorrow we set a course for the Kumera system to study the effects of a nearby neutron star. But until then, I look forward to an overdue night of rest. As I settle into my quarters, I listen to the calming rumble of the ship's engines against the deck plates, muted by the acoustic dampening field. The blue glow of Slumbaria IV looms in my viewing window behind me as I drift off to sleep, while I look forward to an exciting new chapter of space exploration. *** Buy Starship Mp3! https://goo.gl/btmL3U Enjoy better sleep with this white noise video reminiscent of the crew quarters on the Enterprise. Because of the deep bass part of the sound, it is best listened to on good speakers or while wearing headphones. FILM DESCRIPTION: Indications were that this action sequel was in trouble before production began, when the male lead from the first film, Keanu Reeves, declined a role in the follow-up. Sandra Bullock returns as Annie Porter, an accident-prone ditz who is thrilled when her boyfriend Alex (Jason Patric) presents her with two tickets for a cruise ship vacation to the Bahamas. The trip is a peace offering presented because Annie has just learned that Alex is a police officer who's been lying to her about his choice of profession. Little does the happy couple know that the disgruntled John Geiger (Willem Dafoe), designer of the ship's computer system, has plotted a violent takeover of the vessel and a diamond hijacking that puts everyone on board in mortal danger. Being the dashing police officer he is, Alex leaps into action and tries to stop Geiger, but not before the ship crashes at top velocity into a Caribbean port town. Sandra Bullock agreed to star in this flop of a sequel in order to get financial backing for a pet project, Hope Floats (1998), a low-budget drama that turned a healthy profit. Higher oil prices impact shipping industry
Subscribe to France 24 now: http://f24.my/youtubeEN FRANCE 24 live news stream: all the latest news 24/7 http://f24.my/YTliveEN The price of oil has grown exponentially in the last year. Bad news for the shipping industry, still reeling from the last financial crisis. In 2016, over half of EU imports and exports travelled by sea, a figure that has been rising in recent years. But despite the volume of shipments, petrol prices have left the sector struggling to turn a profit.
