Chinese companies to help Malaysia build new deep sea port off Malacca
The Malaysian coastal city of Malacca has been described as the window through which China and its people have learned about Malaysia. Though Malacca is no economic powerhouse and currently has no deep sea port, an ambitious joint venture between China and Malaysia is aiming to return glory days to the southern city. CCTV’s Rian Maelzer has the story. MALAYSIA: Pulau Ketam Fishing Village
[22,568_41] P. Ketam, an island off Port Klang, is a weekend getaway for city dwellers. From KL Sentral to Port Klang by KTM Komuter takes about 75 mins. Allow 30 mins for train waiting time. The ferry terminal (visible from P. Klang station) is a short walk away. Regular ferry (every 45 mins) takes about 40 minutes to reach P. Ketam. Pay RM7 on board. If you miss the last ferry (7:10 pm on weekends), taking a speedboat will cost RM150. You'll see mangrove swamps as the ferry goes through Pulau Klang. There are many floating fish farms near P. Ketam. Sea Lion Hotel (at the jetty) has basic but clean rooms, if you wish to watch sunset/sunrise. Seafood there is fresh. Most SG-KL buses terminate at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan. At TBS, take the escalator up. Once inside the building, turn right after the Point convenience store and follow the direction signs to the train station. Purchase the KTM Komuter ticket to Port Klang (RM7.20) from the counter and get to the correct platform for the train to KL Sentrul. At KL Sentrul, get up the escalator and go to Platform 5 to take the train to Port Klang.

Langkawi, Malaysia - What To Do On Your Day In Port
This is a short video about what you might do if Langkawi, Malaysia is a port stop on your cruise. We decided to just walk into the town. It was about 3 miles each way from the ship. We spent 3 - 4 hours ashore. Langkawi is a nice, tropical island. The people there were very friendly. We spent money on Drinks at a beach bar and some souvenirs. We decided to take cab back to the ship when we found out it was only $3 US. When we left the ship the cab drivers wanted $12.50 US to take us to town. We were planning on walking the whole time. We've noticed that quite often it is cheaper to return to a ship than to leave the port. We did go into several stores to shop for souvenirs and buy water. We just didn't record the shopping. At Port Monkeys we sometimes just walk around in a port. Other times we purchase a ship sponsored shore excursion or a purchase a tour from a third party tour on shore. We hope you enjoy the videos and your next cruise. Please Subscribe to our channel, Port Monkeys.

Day Trip to Pulau Ketam, Malaysia - SEA FOOD!
Today we are going to Pulau Ketam or as what Malaysian-locals call the Crab Island. It is an island located off coast of Port Klang in the State of Selangor, Malaysia. The island inhabitants are mostly chinese fisher folks. If you are going by train, you can take a KTM ride in KL sentral station which is located near the NU Sentral Mall. One way train fare is around 5-7RM depending what station you got into the train. If you are gettin on KL Sentral station, it would take about an hour and half to get you to Port Klang station which is the last station. When you exit the Port Klang station, across the street you would already see the Penumpang South Terminal. Where you can ride the ferry boats going to Pulau Ketam. Normally the small ferry boats costs around 16RM on a roundtrip while the bigger and comfy Alibaba Cruise ferry boats costs 18RM. We took the alibaba ferry boats, as it is comfy and air conditioned below the viewing deck. Seats are all new and you can just dose of while travelling to the island. The trip is about one hour and a half, but if you take those small ferry boats it would take less around 15-20mins. The ride going to the island is smooth and occasionally you could see mangroves, garbage and dirty brownish water :) Well it is understandably that way because the island is situated on a big lake rather on the sea, that is why the water is somewhat dirty. Embarking and disembarking was quite the challenge when we went there because of the Hari Raya festival. There were so many chinese tourist and locals that either went home or just went for fishing there. It was super crowded at that time, as you may have noticed that the Port was jammed pack. After you arrive you could feel the vibrance of the island, greeting you is the island market. You can eat all kinds of sea foods on the island, though its not so cheap but still affordable. Penang Port, Rapid Ferry -Turnaround George Town-Butterworth - Travel to Malaysia
The Port of Penang, the main harbour in northern Malaysia, is operated by the Penang Port Commission. The Port consists of seven facilities, with six of them in Butterworth and Perai on the mainland, including the North Butterworth Container Terminal, Butterworth Deep Water Wharves and the Prai Bulk Cargo Terminal. The Port of Penang, the third busiest seaport in Malaysia, handled more than 1.52 million TEUs of cargo in 2017. Meanwhile, Swettenham Pier, situated in the heart of George Town, is the sole Port facility on Penang Island. The pier now accommodates cruise ships, making it one of the major entry points into Penang. As of 2017, Swettenham Pier recorded 1.35 million tourist arrivals, thereby surpassing Port Klang as the busiest cruise shipping terminal in Malaysia; the pier has also attracted some of the world's largest cruise liners, such as the RMS Queen Mary 2. The pier also serves as a homeport for regional-based cruise ships. Occasionally, the Port of Penang hosts warships as well, including those from Singapore, the United States and most recently, China. The cross-strait Rapid Ferry service connects George Town and Butterworth, and was formerly the only transportation link between Penang Island and the mainland until the completion of the Penang Bridge in 1985. At the time of writing, six ferries ply the Penang Strait between George Town and Butterworth daily. Thank you very much for views, comments and likes!

Malaysia’s Minister of Transport Opens China Malaysia Port Alliance Annual Meeting
KUALA LUMPUR—Today Y.B. Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai, Minister of Transport for Malaysia, opened the 2nd China Malaysia Port Alliance Annual Meeting at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The meeting was held alongside the first Breakbulk Southeast Asia convention and exhibition for the project cargo and breakbulk industry. The minister took the podium in front of more than 50 members of the alliance who gathered to discuss the alliance’s progress and several new initiatives. The China Malaysia Port Alliance was formed to support the two nation’s common objective to promote regional economic cooperation, increase investments and bring development and prosperity as part of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, also known as the One Belt and One Road initiative. “Malaysia strongly supports the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road initiative and we are committed to work with China to further enhance the bilateral ties towards a comprehensive strategic partnership,” Minister Liow Tiong Lai. “The ultimate objective of the port alliance is to facilitate trade by using ports in Malaysia and China as the gateway. Currently, there are six Malaysian ports and 10 Chinese ports in the alliance. Malaysia will add three new port members and China will add an additional two, he said. In the future, the alliance may expand membership to include shipping lines, freight forwarders and other key port partners. China and Malaysia already have a strong collaboration with Chinese investment fueling various sectors. The minister mentioned a recently formed partnership with Alibaba, a Chinese technology leader, to create the Digital Free Trade Zone. “It will be the world’s first special trade zone that will promote the growth of e-commerce,” he said. “This initiative is part of the digital road map which aims to double ecommerce growth rate of SME’s goods exports to reach US$38 billion by 2025. Other partnerships include the proposed Melaka Gateway Multipurpose Deep Sea Port, Maritime Industrial Park and the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project. He closed his comments by congratulating Port Klang Authority as Malaysia Secretariat and also the other Malaysian Ports on this initiative. Port Klang Authority General Manager Capt. K. Subramaniam will discuss the port’s perspective on regional project and breakbulk trade, as well as the port’s plans for development, at the Breakbulk Southeast Asia event on Thursday, 6 Sept. at 14:00 in Hall 4 of the KLCC.

Port Dickson Beach in Malaysia
http://www.tvnewsradio.com Port Dickson Beach in Malaysia Port Dickson Beach in Malaysia. Port Dickson Beach is located 90 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur. You can go there like this if you have no car: 1. take the local train from Kuala Lumpur to Seremban, about 60 kilometers and 1h 15 minutes. (Cost 6rm = about 1,5 euro) Then take the bus from Seremban to Port Dickson (cost 4rm=1 euro) about 30 minutes. Then take the taxi or local bus to the best beach which is called "8 miles", which you can see on the video. Do not pay more than locals 6rm = 1,5 euro for taxi. With 10rm (2,5 euro) you can travel in malaysia 100 kilometers with train and with a bus, so even this 6 rm is like a tourist price, but acceptable. If you want to take the local bus to the beach, it cost 1 rm (0,25 euro cent). Taxi ride is about 10 kilometers to this beach they call the best. Some taxis can take the double (12rm) or three (18rm) or four times (24rm) more for this ride just to fool tourist. Warning: total time with train, bus, taxi and change of to these is 4 hours to go from Kuala Lumpur to Port Dickson. So it takes 8 hours to go to Port Dickson and come back to Kuala Lumpur in the same day. The other Warning: Port Dickson beach and their best beach called 8 mile is totally oil spilled and there is rubbish everywhere, which even beach restaurant owners seems not care about to clean up from the front of their beach tables. This oil spill seems to come from 2 oil platforms I see quite near from the beach. People are anyway swimming. I try to be also brave and show to my courage to swim after 4 hours travel from Kuala Lumpur, but your skin gets itchy of all this rubbish and pollution on the water. Water is real not clear and clean. The only positive with port dickson is food and coconuts which you can get with 6rm (1,5 euro). And of course positive is the sun and maybe for some the view with palm trees and the view to the sea, if you can just think away from the fact that you can't swim on it. West Side of Malaysia's water seems to be polluted due heavy cargo ship traffic and they seem throw away and dump rubbish from the ships in this side of the world and due oil platforms. wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Dickson
