Elevation Marker at Mt. Evans 14,263 feet above sea level

00:14
Old Elevation Marker: Scenes from Mt. Evans and the Highest Paved road in the Lower 48 States. Up to the Peak and Summit of Mount Evans on a beautiful fall afternoon in Colorado. SEE More Things in Colorado at http://www.YouTube.com/AboutColorado We stopped at Echo Lake Lodge for a snack and to see the Gift Shop, up the Mountain to Mount Goliath and the wonderful Trees, to Summit Lake, right next to the Mountain Goats enjoying their afternoon meal, and up to the Vista to the Highest Hiking Trail in the US. Mount Evans is a 14,265 feet (4,348 m) mountain in the Front Range region of the Rocky Mountains, in Clear Creek County, Colorado. It is one of 54 fourteeners (mountains with peaks over 14,000 feet (4,300 m)) in Colorado, and the closest fourteener to Denver. It is often compared to Pikes Peak - another Front Range fourteener - which it exceeds in elevation by 154 ft (50 m). The peak is one of the characteristic Front Range peaks, dominating the western skyline of the Great Plains along with Pikes Peak, Longs Peak, and nearby Mount Bierstadt. Mount Evans can be seen from over 100 miles away to the east, and many miles in other directions. Mount Evans dominates the Denver Metropolitan Area skyline, rising over 9,000 feet above the area. Mount Evans can be seen from points south of Castle Rock, up to (65 miles (105 km) south) and as far north as Fort Collins (95 miles (153 km) north), and from areas near Limon (105 miles (169 km) east).

Ground Control And Check Shots in Pix4D

07:28
Discusses the difference between ground control points and check shots and how to use each of them in Pix4D to obtain survey grade accuracy Attributes of GCPs and Check Points (1) GCPs are used to rotate, scale and orientate the project in a real world location or in some cases in a "Local Coordinate System) (2) GCPs are typically statically placed around the outside edge of the project with at least one GCP in the interior of the project (3) GCPs should not be more than 1,000-1,500 feet apart (4) Check Points are used for independent verification of the accuracy of your project (5) Check Points are randomly spaced throughout the project Types of Ground Control Points (1) 3D Points (X, Y, Z) (2) 2D Points (X, Y) (no elevation information) (3) Z only (not applicable for Drone work) Types of Check Points (1) All the same types as GCPs (2) The Z is very important for elevation verification Format of GCPs (1) Standard format is X, Y, Z. Used mainly by non-surveyors (2) Northing, Easting, Elevation (Y, X, Z) is commonly used by surveyors (3) Latitude, Longitude Elevation (Y, X, Z) is the native output from most survey grade GPS systems. The elevation is generally not is generally not Mean Sea Level (ellipsoid elevation). For further information at our web site Search at www.verticalaspect.com for "Ground Control Points"

Qumran_Dead Sea.avi

06:24
We went to Engedi beside the Dead Sea for a concert, On the way we passed the Caves at Qumran where the 'Dead Sea Scrolls' were found by a Bedouin boy looking for a lost goat. He heard it inside the cave but rather than go in, he threw in a stone and heard pottery breaking. Considered to be the area where the Sect of the Essenes were BC. We then passed the 'Fastness ofEngedi' where David his from King Saul when he was trying to kill him We finally arrived at Engedi. Interesting to note that the Dead Sea is losing about 1metre in depth each year due to evaporation and lack of inflow from the River Jordan. There is now an exposed land Bridge accross it previously under water. It is the lowest point on the Earth's surface at about 432 metres below Sea Level. We passed markers on the side of the road for -150 Metres and then -300 metres but I never had the camera ready.

7 Facts about Louisiana

In this video you can find seven little known facts about Louisiana. Keep watching and subscribe, as more states will follow! You can now support this channel via Patreon, by accessing the link bellow. Thank you! https://www.patreon.com/7facts Learn, Share, Subscribe US States & Territories https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbZJ71IJGFRT2EjuHJUt4-YZ59SZNc8ch 206 Countries in One Series https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbZJ71IJGFRR54b-LlPPw6YcUFiBEEP6G Social Media: https://twitter.com/Sebastian2Go https://www.facebook.com/official7facts ------------------------------------------------ More information about the video content bellow: 1. The Louisiana Territory was claimed by Robert Cavelier de La Salle in 1682 and named for King Louis XIV. In French, “La Louisiane” means “Land of Louis.” 2. Tasked with negotiating the purchase of French land on behalf of the U.S. government, James Monroe and Robert Livingston initially offered $5 million and then $10 million for New Orleans and what was then called West Florida. Napoleon countered by offering all of the Louisiana Territory for $15 million—$233 million when adjusted for inflation. Once the government had paid back the loans required to make the purchase, the 828,000-square-mile land mass had cost a total of $23 million—and doubled the size of the U.S. 3. The highest point in the state is located east of Shreveport at Driskill Mountain. It is only 535 feet above sea level. Louisiana’s lowest point (and the second-lowest point in the country) is the city of New Orleans, which is eight feet below sea level. Because of the state’s low elevation, the dead are often laid to rest above ground instead of being buried. Mausoleums replace crypts and markers in cemeteries in New Orleans and other cities. 4. The world’s longest bridge over a body of water is the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway. The bridge, which stretches nearly 24 miles, has two parallel spans, the first of which opened in 1956 and the other in 1969. Since 1969, it was listed by Guinness World Records as the longest bridge over water in the world; in 2011 in response to the opening of the allegedly longer Jiaozhou Bay Bridge in China, Guinness World Records created two categories for bridges over water: continuous and aggregate lengths over water. Lake Pontchartrain Causeway then became the longest bridge over water (continuous) while Jiaozhou Bay Bridge the longest bridge over water (aggregate). 5. Louisiana has one of the highest alligator populations in the country, with an estimated two million in the wild and another 300,000 on alligator farms. The hide and raw meat industries collectively bring in around $57 million a year. 6. Roughly 1.4 million people attend Mardi Gras in New Orleans every year. The population of New Orleans for the rest of the year is only slightly more than a quarter of that, at just over 384,000, according to the United States Census Bureau. Jazz was born in Louisiana, though the exact year is unknown. Some say it originated in the late 19th century, while others argue that the first jazz song recorded was “Livery Stable Blues” by Nick LaRocca and his Original Dixieland Jazz Band. 7. The capital of Louisiana, Baton Rouge, supposedly got its name (which translates to "red stick") in 1699. French explorer Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville wrote that he saw a pole covered in animal blood along a Mississippi River bluff. The pole served as a marker signifying the division of land between the Bayougoula and Houmas Indian tribes. Sea Levels on the Move

02:22
The earth's climate is changing -- and it's causing sea levels to change too. Even small changes in sea levels can dramatically alter coastal landscapes all across the world. So continuously measuring sea level changes over the long term is the best way for scientists to understand and project how and when this will affect our communities. High-tech instruments are used to take height measurements of the ocean and land. Measurements from tide gauges and satellites are combined together to get precise water height readings. Data from land surveys using benchmark elevations and a high-precision GPS and global satellite system together provide accurate land height measurements. Scientists combine the water and land height data to study and figure out two important things: 1. The average amount of sea level change that is happening on a global scale; and 2. The amount of sea level change that is happening at specific locations -- like coastal cities and towns and why it varies in different areas of the world. Scientists project sea levels will rise 8--17 inches this century, and this is faster than ever before in recorded human history. Coastal communities will lose farmland, fresh water supplies, and natural barriers against flooding. Continually measuring and studying water height and land elevation changes is crucial to helping us plan and prepare for whatever a changing ocean brings our way. Advanced Technology Uncovers Hidden Markers From The Ancient Past

00:52
According to a report by Mother Nature Network, archaeologists studying the history of Native Americans have begun to use advanced technology to pinpoint hidden markers from the ancient past. Using LiDar, which stands for light detection and ranging, scientists are able to peer through a region's vegetative blanket and reveal extremely fine details of the Earth's hidden topography. In a paper published in Southeastern Archaeology, the team of researchers from Binghampton University explain how their work resulted in the systematic discovery of over 160 previously unknown mound features. As climate change and sea level rise threatens to irrevocably alter our coastlines, anthropologist Carl Lipo said in a statement, "It is urgent we document this pre-contact landscape as soon as possible, in order to learn as much as we can about the past before it is gone forever." https://www.mnn.com/lifestyle/arts-culture/blogs/north-americas-hidden-ancient-mounds-uncovered-new-tech http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

3 chart datum tide heights chart datum 1

00:52
Let's have a closer look at "Tidal Heights" and "Chart Datum". On nautical charts, soundings and drying heights are measured from Chart Datum. Chart Datum is the Lowest Astronomical Tide or L A T , meaning the lowest level to which the tide is expected to fall. All depths on a chart are measured below chart datum and all drying heights are measured above it. Non-drying heights, for example a lighthouse, are always measured above Mean High Water Springs, not Chart Datum, as an added safety margin. The height of tide is always measured above Chart Datum.
Mediterranean closure during the Messinian salinity crisis. Tectonics+erosion oscillations

00:20
Concept cartoon of the sea level oscillations possibly occurring in the Mediterranean during the inflow of Atlantic water during the Messinian Salinity Crisis. The video depicts a cross section of the sill dividing both ocean domains at the seaway. The dashed lines are markers for the rock uplift. The blue arrow depicts flow velocity. The sill is uplifted at a constant uplift rate by tectonic motions. As the seaway becomes shallower, less water can flow through it, and the level of the Mediterranean lowers by evaporation. As the level of the Med decreases, the erosion power of the incoming waters rises. When the uplift rate is close to the critical value (the one overcoming erosion and triggering complete disconnection), the competition between both processes can leads to sea level oscillations, because the evaporation of the sea needs a few thousand years to take effect and thus has a delayed response relative to the inflow reduction. 1966 Benchmark in Citrus Wildlife Management Area

01:08
I found this survey benchmark along the trails in Citrus WMA. This dates back to 1966 according the information on the marker. A benchmark is a point whose position is known to a high degree of accuracy and is normally marked in some way. The marker is often a metal disk made for this purpose, but it can also be a church spire, a radio tower, a mark chiseled into stone, or a metal rod driven into the ground. Over two centuries or so, many other objects of greater or lesser permanence have been used. Benchmarks can be found at various locations all over the United States. They are used by land surveyors, builders and engineers, map makers, and other professionals who need an accurate answer to the question, "Where?" Many of these markers are part of the geodetic control network (technically known as the National Spatial Reference System, or NSRS) created and maintained by NOAA's National Geodetic Survey (NGS). http://www.freshfromflorida.com/Divisions-Offices/Florida-Forest-Service/Our-Forests/State-Forests/Withlacoochee-State-Forest

Ebright Azimuth Delaware Highpoint | Couple Highpointing Diaries

01:17
The Ebright Azimuth is the highpoint of the U.S. state of Delaware. It is marked with a geodetic benchmark monument and has an elevation of 447.85 feet (136.50 m) above sea level. This is the second lowest state high point after Britton Hill in Florida. The Ebright Azimuth is located about 6.5 miles north of downtown Wilmington, Delaware, in far northern New Castle County, within a few feet of the Pennsylvania state line. It is near Concord High School, to the north of Naamans Road, at the middle of the intersection of Ebright Road and Ramblewood Drive. Another highpoint bagged by us. We are couple highpointers aiming to be the first international couple to finish all 50 US highpoints. Mount Everest bodies

02:09
bodies on Mount Everest *source: Google & Wikipedia. Photo credit goes to its original photographers. Mount Everest, at 8,848 metres (29,029 ft) is the world's highest mountain and a particularly desirable peak for mountaineers. The upper reaches of the mountain are in the death zone. The death zone is a mountaineering term for altitudes above a certain point – around 8,000 m (26,000 ft), or less than 356 millibars (5.16 psi) of atmospheric pressure – where the oxygen level is not sufficient to sustain human life. Many deaths in high-altitude mountaineering have been caused by the effects of the death zone, either directly (loss of vital functions) or indirectly (unwise decisions made under stress or physical weakening leading to accidents). In the death zone, the human body cannot acclimatize, as it uses oxygen faster than it can be replenished. How many people have reached the summit of Mount Everest? Where is the location of Mount Everest? Mount Everest, also known in Nepal as Sagarmāthā and in Tibet as Chomolungma, is Earth's highest mountain. It is located in the Mahalangur mountain range in Nepal and Tibet. Its peak is 8,848 metres (29,029 ft) above sea level. The international border between China (Tibet Autonomous Region) and Nepal runs across Everest's precise summit point. Its massif includes neighbouring peaks Lhotse, 8,516 m (27,940 ft); Nuptse, 7,855 m (25,771 ft) and Changtse, 7,580 m (24,870 ft). In 1856, the Great Trigonometrical Survey of India established the first published height of Everest, then known as Peak XV, at 8,840 m (29,002 ft). The current official height of 8,848 m (29,029 ft) as recognised by China and Nepal was established by a 1955 Indian survey and subsequently confirmed by a Chinese survey in 1975. In 1865, Everest was given its official English name by the Royal Geographical Society upon a recommendation by Andrew Waugh, the British Surveyor General of India. As there appeared to be several different local names, Waugh chose to name the mountain after his predecessor in the post, Sir George Everest, despite George Everest's objections. My answer to them is that all the brushes are great to use and compliment each other. My brushes are not expensive to purchase, they cost around $1-4 USD, some prices may vary on the different brushes used duo to special use of each brush. Remember that with each brush you use you will have a different experience and a range of different feeling. The important thing is that you and the brush work as one to find the balance between creation and skill. The artist's hand is very important in making the painting and to feel the way the water on the brush moves as the brush creates the ultimate master piece. ❖ E-mail : [email protected] ( If you have any questions please feel free to contact me ) ........................................................
World's Best Archaeology site Kokino | Macedonia

01:57
Kokino (Macedonian: Кокино) is a Bronze Age archaeological site in the Republic of Macedonia, approximately 30 km from the town of Kumanovo, and about 6 km from the Serbian border, in the Staro Nagoričane municipality. It is situated between about 1010 and 1030 m above sea level on the Tatićev Kamen (Татиќев камен) summit and covers an area of about 90 by 50 meters, overlooking the eponymous hamlet of Kokino. It was discovered by archeologist Jovica Stankovski, director of the national museum in Kumanovo, in 2001. In 2002, Stankovski together with Gorje Cenev (who is the head of a planetarium at a Youth Cultural Center in Skopje) published the claim that the site contains a "megalithic observatory and sacred site" (мегалитска опсерваторија и светилиште). The oldest archaeological finds date from about the 19th century BC, corresponding to the early European Bronze Age. It shows signs of occupation for the period from the 19th to the 7th centuries BC. Finds from the Middle Bronze Age (c. 16th to 14th centuries BC) are the most numerous (mainly ceramic vessels, stone-mills and a few molds). An agglomeration from the Iron Age was discovered in 2009. The Kokino "megalithic observatory" should be distinguished from the wider Kokino archaeological site. While the observatory consists of two platforms of a combined area of about 5000 square meters, the site covers about 30 hectares. From this area, an abundant amount of fragments of ceramic vessels, dated to between the 19th and the 11th centuries BC. Also found was a mould for casting bronze axes, and a pendant. The remains of vessels filled with offerings were found deposited in cracks in the rocks, which gave rise to the interpretation of the site as a "holy mountain". The claimed archaeo-astronomical site itself consists of two platforms with an elevation difference of 19 m. The claim of the site representing an astronomical observatory was made by Stankovski and by Gjore Cenev in 2002. According to this interpretation, the site includes special stone markers used to track the movement of the Sun and Moon on the eastern horizon. The observatory used the method of stationary observation, marking positions of the Sun at the winter and summer solstice, as well as the equinox. Four stone seats or "thrones" are placed in a row on the lower platform. According to Cenev, A stone block with a marking on the upper platform marks the direction of sunrise on summer solstice when viewed from one of the seats. Kokino was mentioned in a poster made by NASA's "Sun-Earth Connection Education Forum" in 2005. The Cultural Heritage Protection Office of Macedonia's Ministry of Culture declared the site a "property under temporary protection" on 13 November 2008 (Decision nr. 08-1935/6). In 2009, Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kancheska-Milevska declared Kokino "one of the priorities of the Ministry of Culture’s 2009 programme".In 2009, the Republic of Macedonia also suggested the site be inscribed on the World Heritage Site. Was it cold! What a surprise. Three friends and I decided to Hike Mt Cardigan. Mount Cardigan is a prominent stripped-rock summit in the towns of Orange and Alexandria in western New Hampshire. While its peak is only 3,155 feet above sea level, it has extensive areas of bare granite ledges and alpine scrub, giving it the feel to hikers of a much higher mountain. Most of the summit area was exposed by devastating forest fires in 1855. The fire tower on its summit quickly identifies Mt Cardigan throughout the area. We pulled into the Orange, NH parking lot from Cardigan Mountain Road. Surprisingly, since the weather was expected to be in the low 30’s with high winds, the parking area had already had a multitude of cars. The first hour up the moderately difficult rock bound-West Ridge Trail was uneventful. However, once we reached bare granite ledges above treeline, things changed dramatically. We faced below freezing temperatures and extreme high and bone-chilling wind as we made over the baren ledges to the summit's firetower. We stopped twice in alpine scrub to block the wind, catch our balance, as our faces briefly enjoyed the warmth and shelter. I removed my gloves each time I took a picture or video, and my right hand felt the frostbitten pain. The deafening noise in the videos you hear, once we entered the barren granite ledges, is the roaring of the summit’s disrespectful winds. The trip to the summit from the West Ridge Trail took an hour and 15 minutes. Due to the extensive freezing cold and dangerous 50 – 60 mph hour winds, we stayed on the summit less than ten minutes. Our original plan was to hike to the summit via the 1.5-mile West Ridge Trail, and then return to the parking lot by the South Ridge Trail. This plan changed immediately once we reached the tree line of the summit and faced the treacherous winds and freezing temperatures. West Ridge Trail The WRT is marked with orange strips. These orange markers are assurance we are on the right trail. Cairns Cairns are another means of staying on trail. It is against New Hampshire law to remove or change a cairn. I can tell you from personal experience, that they can be a life-saving direction in fog or low light conditions. Directions These are driving directions to the West Ridge Trail parking area Take exit 17 from I-93 North to get on Route 4 West. Turn right onto Route 4 West / Hoit Road. Drive 1.2 miles and continue straight through the traffic circle to stay on Route 4 West. Drive 2.5 miles and turn slight left to stay on Route 4 West. Drive 15.2 miles and turn right to stay on Route 4 West. Drive 20.9 miles and turn sharply right onto Parker Street / Route 118. Drive 0.6 miles and turn right onto Cardigan Mountain Road. When you get the Burnt Hill Road, turn left to stay on Cardigan Mountain Road. (You will see a Cardigan Mountain State Forest sign here) Drive until you come to the parking lot. If you have a GPS, you can put in Cardigan Mountain Road in Orange, NH and look for the parking area on the road. Just an odd thing! You will find these in various places in Britain, generally on a building that won't be knocked down for a while! The 'Ordnance Survey' are the folk who produce maps, and when the survey was originally done, teams of surveyors wandered about the countryside with theodolites working out where everything was, and how high it is. This is one of their marks.

10 Most Dangerous Tourist Destinations in the World

03:16
Get more Tips here! www.destinationtips.com While escaping the everyday routine to go on an extreme vacation, some risky places require a lot more preparation and forethought than others. Aside from the war-torn hotspots, here are a handful of dangerous places that you might dare to visit. 1. Kokoda Track, Papua New Guinea The Kokoda Track presents many challenges and dangers to the increasing number of adventurers that it accommodates, but by far the greatest danger is the perpetual infestation of malarial mosquitoes. 2. Death Road, Bolivia Claiming around 250 lives per year, the aptly named Death Road is one of the most dangerous roads in the world. One wrong move, and you could end up plummeting down a 2,000-foot vertical drop. At its highest, the road reaches over 15,000 feet before descending to only 3,900 feet above sea level. 3. Chernobyl, Ukraine The whole region, spanning some 1,000 square miles, was evacuated in 1986 due to the devastating explosion at the local nuclear power plant. However, the danger comes not so much from radiation any more, but the countless precariously abandoned buildings. 4. Cliffs of Moher, Ireland The Cliffs of Moher reach a maximum height of 700 feet, but with the huge vertical drops right into the sea and frequent high winds, you certainly won’t want to veer too close to the edge. Sadly the cliffs also have a reputation for attracting self-destructive and even suicidal behavior. 5. Acapulco, Mexico The crime rate has become astronomical in recent years, running at nearly 30 times higher than the US average. The vast majority of the crime largely involves drug cartels and does not specifically target tourists. However, you best take heed before planning a trip to this pretty seaside town 6. New Smyrna Beach, Florida Named one of the world’s 20 best surfing towns by National Geographic in 2012, this unfortunate region also has highest number of shark attacks anywhere in the world. There have been 238 incidents on record, 12 in 2008 alone. 7. Danakil Depression, Ethiopia This is a highly active volcanic region. It’s also extremely inhospitable, being one of the hottest spots on Earth. Unfortunately, the area is made even more uninviting due to border disputes with neighboring Eritrea. 8. Mount Everest, Nepal Standing just over 29,000 feet above sea level at the summit, the air is so thin that oxygen tanks and breathing masks are essential. Over 250 people have died attempting to reach the summit. Many bodies still lie frozen in the snow. Some have earned nicknames and serve as trail markers along Everest’s routes. 9. Hua Shan, China The walk consists of unstable wooden boards precariously clinging to the cliffs. With no guard rails and a largely unstable construction, many lives have been claimed by this walk, which features drops of up to 7,000 feet. 10. Mont Blanc, France With a peak of over 16,000 feet, Mont Blanc in France is one of the most breathtaking yet dangerous hiking spots in Europe. There's a threat of high wind speeds and a constant risk of avalanches. The mountain has claimed dozens of lives in recent decades.

Kokino - Megalithic observatory in Macedonia published in the "National Geographic"

03:37
20.09.2008 This important megalithic observatory site was discovered in 2001 by archeologist Jovica Stankovski in the northeastern Republic of Macedonia, approximately 30 km from the town of Kumanovo, near the village of Staro Nagorichane. It is situated 1013 m above sea level and covers an area within a 100-meter radius. It is believed that represents an astronomical observatory and a ceremonial place. The site is approximately 3800 years old. Kokino consists of two parts. It includes special stone markers used to track the movement of Sun and Moon on the eastern horizon. The observatory used a method of stationary observation, marking positions of the Sun at the winter and summer solstice, as well as the equinox. The importance of the site, detailed by physicist Gjore Cenev, was confirmed by the U.S. space agency NASA. It appears fourth on the list of old observatories compliled by NASA. 1. The road to choosing custom projections is not paved with sundrops and lilies. It is time to start learning the nuts and bolts of coordinate systems. Minute Markers: -0:27- Geodesy, the geoid. -1:10- Ellipsoid, geographic coordinate system. -2:09- Can't effectively measure with ellipsoid. -3:21- Planar coordinate system. -3:49- Geodetic datums. -5:41- Projections. -6:47- REMEMBER this, degrees vs. linear units. -7:10- Three types of projections. -7:32- Recap. Senior Year Research Project: Developing Microsatellite Markers

04:21
Microsatellite markers are dinucleotide repeats located in the noncoding regions of nuclear DNA. They are known as neutral markers because there is no selection on noncoding DNA sequences, and they are highly heritable by offspring. They can undergo mutations that either make the sequences longer or shorter, and these mutations occur at a quantifiable rate, making it possible to trace how far back a mutation may have occurred. These characteristics make microsatellite markers a very useful tool in population genetics, and they can be used to assess paternity, inbreeding, and gene flow in and out of a population. In my project, I designed and tested 12 primers for amplifying microsatellite loci. Seven of the twelve loci were amplified in PCR reactions, and will be assessed for polymorphism and then used to genotype porcupines located within the St. Lawrence University Kip Tract. Determining the relationship of each porcupine to others within the population will provide information about paternity and possibly breeding habits. Road mortalities may be having an effect on the genetic structure of the Kip Tract population, and one of the goals of this project was to assess the amount of genetic diversity within the population. Eventually, the development of porcupine microsatellite markers will allow populations in the Northeast to be genotyped and compared to one another, and their genetic information will be available to the scientific community.

Minecraft Intercontinental Railway (Pt. 1) - Feat. music by Ronald Jenkees

NOTE: This is obviously not a how-to on auto repair, but fear not, more how-to videos are in the works! The story so far... We're One Source Automotive, a small auto repair shop based in Florida. We fix pretty much anything we can get repair data and parts for. We also produce a series of instructional videos for do-it-yourself auto repair, including when NOT to do it yourself. We also like us some Minecraft - everyone that works here has their own personal Minecraft copy, and we occasionally get our SMP on when nothing's going on in the shop. (Sorry, the server's private!) In fact, we've been playing Minecraft since not long after Mojang started accepting "prepurchases" for the alpha. During what can only be described as a bout of epic boredom, one of the OSA guys made the mother of all minecart tracks. It's over 125 THOUSAND BLOCKS long. That's 125 KILOMETERS. It took over four hours to ride. He recorded the entire trip. It may not be the record holder for longest track, but we've not found anything longer with a length that we could confirm. If you ever wanted to see just how big the ocean biomes are in Minecraft 1.8+, here's your chance! Some facts on this video and the cart ride from whence it came: - The track consists of 30-meter sections, each with a single support tower and a bidirectional self-powered detector/booster/detector setup to keep the cart moving. - There are 4,200 sections of track, in a continuous straight line starting at coordinate 0,79,0. This puts the player's head at height 80, 16 blocks above sea level. - At the standard minecart speed (8m/s) it takes four hours, twenty minutes, and twenty-five seconds to ride from end to end. - Again at the standard minecart speed, it takes thirteen Minecraft days to ride the track end-to-end. - This video was built from 130GB of footage, and the only reason it was that small an amount was because we had to record it in 480p - if we did 720p we'd have burned over a terabyte of disk space just holding it. - The map is only about forty chunks wide, but more than eight thousand chunks long. Basically Steve was moved from spawn to 0,0 and headed due "north" from there. - The map is also almost a gigabyte in size according to Minecraft, and when packed into a ZIP it's a 650MB+ archive. - There are markers every 1,000 blocks (1 kilometer), in the form of glowstone on both sides of the track. Every 10Km there's a taller glowstone marker set, a double-column on each side ones at 50Km, and a triple-column at 100Km. - At the top speed, the video is approximating a travel speed of 192m/s, which translates to bullet-train speeds: ~690 KPH or 430 MPH, or just over half the speed of sound at sea level. Even at this speed it'd take over 10 minutes to make the run! - The video was recorded and edited on a laptop. Of course, it's not an ordinary laptop, it's an Asus G74 with a Geforce 560M graphics processor and 16 gigs of RAM. We like lots of RAM. Watch for the next 125 kilometers of track once Minecraft 1.9 is released! More biomes! More eye candy! Tools used to build this monstrosity include: - Minecraft 1.8.1, of course, in Survival mode. Don't have a copy yet? Why not? Whatcha waiting for? - MCEdit, without which this would literally be impossible with 1.8's new biome system. - Marglyph's TooManyItems mod, which was used to build/test the basic track sections. - simo_415's SinglePlayer Commands mod, which was used to rapidly build tunnels and anti-mob shielding to keep hostiles and friendlies alike off the track. - sk89q's WorldEdit, which is what SPC uses to make magic happen in-game. - lahwran's ZanMiniMap, which gives that little overview at the top-right corner. - zombe's modpack, for powered flight without having to stay in Creative mode, as well as a plethora of other effects. - risugami's ModLoader, which is used to load other mods. - Kahr's mcpatcher for large-texture support. - A customized version of the famous Painterly Pack for eye candy. Megalithic observatory Kokino in Macedonia

02:00
31.07.2007 This important megalithic observatory site was discovered in 2001 by archeologist Jovica Stankovski in the northeastern Republic of Macedonia, approximately 30 km from the town of Kumanovo, near the village of Staro Nagorichane. 1. Abu Simbel, Egypt 2. Stonehenge, Great Britain 3. Angkor Wat, Cambodia 4. Kokino Republic of Macedonia 5.

Omega 7: The Forgotten Fat

05:36
Click Here to Subscribe: http://Bit.ly/ThomasVid Website: http://ThomasDeLauer.com Omega 7: The Forgotten Fat - Thomas DeLauer Omega-7 fatty acids: ● Monounsaturated fatty acids ● Found in macadamia nuts, cold-water fatty fish (salmon, sardines, tuna, trout) and sea buckthorn berries (a fruit). ● Palmitoleic acid is a type of omega-7 fatty acid that has been shown in many studies to be good for our health ● Acts through many pathways to prevent disease ○ Acts as a lipokine, a hormone-like molecule, to promote proper metabolism Omega-7 fatty acids are believed to: 1. Improve insulin sensitivity 2. Fight inflammation in the body 3. Protect cardiovascular health 4. Help people lose weight through controlling hunger and appetite All of the above point to how palmitoleic acid helps with metabolic syndrome Metabolic syndrome is a group of risk factors that raise your chance of diseases such as heart disease, type-2 diabetes and stroke. These risk factors include: 1. Abdominal fat - having a large midsection 2. High triglycerides 3. Low HDL level 4. High blood pressure 5. High blood sugar **Best study** A study published in the Journal of Clinical Lipidology in 2014 conducted a randomized, placebo-controlled study of palmitoleic acid supplementation versus a placebo on subjects with systemic inflammation and dyslipidemia for 30 days. The results were impressive! As compared to the control group, the experimental group: ● Reduced C-reactive protein (a marker of inflammation) ● Decreased triglycerides ● Decreased LDL ● Increased HDL 1. Insulin Sensitivity and Type-2 Diabetes and Heart Disease Type-2 diabetes is a cluster of metabolic diseases that results from problems with insulin secretion and/or action. Different fatty acids have been found to have differing effects on glucose and lipid metabolism as well as insulin sensitivity. As a general rule: ● Saturated fats contribute to insulin resistance ● Unsaturated fats counter insulin resistance Palmitoleic acid has been found to: ● Prevent beta-cell apoptosis (cell death of insulin-producing cells) that is caused by glucose and saturated fats ● Improve plasma lipid profile (beneficial for both heart health and diabetes) ○ Human study: One study took mildly hypercholesterolemic men and women and compared a control group with a group that consumed macadamia nuts for 5 weeks. Compared to the control group, the experimental group experienced a reduction of both total and LDL-cholesterol levels. ● Functions as an adipose tissue-derived lipid hormone, stimulating insulin action in muscle cells and suppressing fatty liver disease ○ What this means is that muscle cells use palmitoleic acid to communicate with organs, regulating systemic metabolic homeostasis 2. Inflammation A study looked at 20 participants with ulcerative colitis (UC), a disease marked by inflammation, and had ½ of the subjects take palmitoleic acid and the other half a placebo. This study found that after 8 weeks the palmitoleic acid group experienced decreased inflammatory activity measured by inflammatory markers. 3. Heart Health Studies above showed the ability to raise HDL and lower LDL. Also supports proper endothelial function. 4. Weight Loss/Appetite A 2013 study on rats found that consuming palmitoleic acid, as compared to other kinds of fats and a control, led to decreased food intake. In this study, consumption of palmitoleic acid was found to increase the levels of a hormone linked to satiety called cholecystokinin. References 1.
