13 BIGGEST Sea Monsters Ever Part 2!

11:36
From a real life Moby Dick … to sea creatures as big as islands … here are 13 of the BIGGEST sea monsters ever Subscribe to Epic Wildlife http://goo.gl/6rzs5u Let's Connect -- http://www.epicadamwildlife.com/ -- http://www.facebook.com/epicadamwildlife -- http://www.twitter.com/epicwildlife -- http://gplus.to/epicwildlife #9 St Brendan & the Devil Whale We couldn’t find any exact dimensions for this legendary sea creature … except that it be about the size of an island, and was big enough to swallow ships in their entirety. So let’s just say it must have been an enormous beast. It was first chronicled by St. Brendan, an Irish monk who was later canonized. He may be most renowned for his Legendary Journey which is thought to have occurred sometime between the years 512 and 530 (the precise dates are still disputed). But during this voyage, he is said to have landed on an island that actually turned out to be a sea monster named “Jasconius” (or Jasco). Similar stories show up in Irish mythology, as well as in the adventures of Sinbad the Sailor. #8 Yacu-Mama In a bit of a departure, we’ll focus on a monster found in a freshwater habitat. This creature is located in South America where it is said to guard the mouth of the Amazon Basin, in addition to other lagoons. It’s found in the folklore of indigenous peoples there … and is described as an aquatic beast that measures more than 100 feet long. In order to protect themselves, native peoples would blow on a conch horn to make the critter revel itself if it was in the water. According to legend, this is the mother of all aquatic creatures … and would attack any living thing that ventured within its territory. It’s also thought to assume the form of a giant anaconda known as the Minhocao (MEEN-oh-kow) #7 Cadborosaurus (kad-BOR-oh-sore-us) Nicknamed Caddy, this refers to a sea serpent that appears in folk tales from areas of North American Pacific Coast. The name actually originates from British Columbia’s Cadboro Bay, combined with the Greek word ‘saurus’, meaning reptile or lizard. Witnesses claim the beast has a horse-like head, long neck, small front flippers, and a large fan-like tail that allows it to powerfully propel itself in the water. Images similar to this critter’s description appeared in the culture of Alaska’s indigenous peoples, including the Aleut (ahl-EE-oot) … they keep a likeness of Caddy on their canoes to keep the monster away. Over the past 200 years, there have been around 300 claimed sightings of this beast. In many cases, other creatures including sea lions, basking sharks and giant oarfish have been mistaken for Cadborosaurus. The mistaken identities have also included the carcasses of elephant seals and basking sharks that have washed ashore. #6 Scylla and Charybdis (kuh-RIB-dus) These are two separate creatures, but they’re so strongly connected that we’ll feature them in the same segment. Scylla was a monster that lived on one side of a narrow channel of water, across from Charybdis. It’s described as a sea monster with several heads that feasted on sailors who ventured too close to its domain. There is no clear description of the Charybdis, other than it was a massive sea creature capable of generating huge whirlpools that could destroy entire ships. If you tried avoiding one monster, the other one would get you, and vice versa. Because of that, their names have been immortalized in the expression, ‘Trapped between Scylla and Charybdis’ … it refers to a situation where you’re trapped between two dangerous circumstances with no apparent way out. But as Homer described in The Odyssey, Odysseus did eventually manage to escape both creatures, but at the cost of his ship and crew. #5 Moby Dick While the exact dimensions of the titular whale are never divulged in the novel, Herman Melville does mention that Moby Dick is the largest sperm whale ever … and those creatures were said to measure some 90 feet long. That’s according to the novel, though … the largest size for a sperm whale is thought to be close to 70 feet, max. Still a huge beast, although maybe some dramatic license there. But Melville’s inspiration for the white whale was actually based on the accounts of a real life albino sperm whale named Mocha Dick. That marine mammal was found off the coast of Chile in the early 19th century, and gained a reputation for being especially difficult to catch. Also, the events depicted in Moby Dick were inspired by a real-life incident in 1820 when a ship called the Essex was rammed and sunk by a sperm whale. That story was later recounted in a book called “In the Heart of the Sea”, which was made into a movie in 2015.

Most MYSTERIOUS MONSTER Sightings Ever Recorded!

11:58
Check out the most mysterious monster sightings ever recorded! This top 10 list of unexplained and bizarre creatures have that have been seen throughout history has some of the strangest monsters that people still don't know are real or fake! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "REAL Mermaid Sightings Around The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/ChM0CBRmVsM Watch our "Most TERRIFYING Extinct Creatures Ever!" video here: https://youtu.be/ZQ2duvyaqfw Watch our "10 Sea Monsters ATTACKING A Boat!" video here: https://youtu.be/0XROvoPCDNc 9. Morbach Monster In Germany, there is a town called Wittlich that has a legend about a bad soldier who turned into a wolf beast during the days of Napoleon. This soldier who had deserted was running away and came upon this small town. So far it doesn’t sound so bad, you could argue that maybe the soldier was drafted and he didn’t want to fight with Napoleon! 8. The Flatwoods Monster On September 12th, 1952, an odd event happened in West Virginia that is still unexplained to this day. On that day, a fireball was seen in the sky. But, unlike regular meteors and comets and such, this fireball was actually seen all across the United States. The interesting thing is that the fireball was confirmed all the way from California, up to where it landed in West Virginia. 7. The Hounds of Mons In World War I, trench warfare was the dominant form of combat, which created No Man's Land all across several countries in Europe. In one such No Man's Land in Mons there was a mysterious story. A Canadian Captain, A.J. Newhouse, claimed that within the No Man's Land of Mons was a beast. He believed this because one day a patrol was sent into No Man's Land, and they never returned. When their bodies were found, they had teeth marks on their throats. 6. Kongamoto In 1932, a traveler by the name of Frank Melland was doing research for a book that he would title "Witch-Bound Africa". In this book, he noted that he spoke to tribes in West Africa that described being attacked by a lizard-like bird with large membrane wings that resembled a bat. Very unlike anything that is technically in the world today, that we know of. Unless you count the very recent “sightings” of La Gargola de Barceloneta in Puerto Rico!! There’s all kinds of creatures there!! 5. U-28 Crocodile During World War I, there was a British Steamer known as the Iberian. It was going through the waters next to Ireland when it came under attack by a U-28 German submarine. A battle commenced, and despite the Iberian fleeing with all she had, the submarine won in the end. But that's just the beginning of the story, not the end. 4. Little Bigfoot John McKinnon was a famous British Zoologist, one who helped discover many new creatures in Vietnam. He also wrote a book in 1974 that stated he found something he didn't want to know the answer to. 3. Brosno Dragon In Russia, there are people who are convinced that a creature lives in the waters of Lake Brosno. The legend goes like this, a group of Tatar horsemen, a people who numbered as much as 5 million in the late 20th century and lived in west-central Russia, were on their way to Novgorod. However, on their way, they stopped at the Brosno Lake to rest. While they did, a "reptilian monster" rushed out of the water and attacked them, killing many, and forcing the others to flee. 2. Kraken One of the most legendary monster sightings of all time has to be the one and only Kraken. A squid of such size that it would dwarf and consume massive vessels. But despite this story being born during the time of sailboats, there have been many modern day accounts of the Kraken, including some in World War II. A British Trawler was docked off of the Maldives. 1. The Mist A monster does not need a corporeal form to be frightening, as the crew of a C-130 Cargo plane found out in the Vietnam War. For Robert L. P, along with his crew saw something they truly couldn't explain. It all started when P saw a disturbance in the back of the plane. Origins Explained is the place to be to find all the answers to your questions, from mysterious events and unsolved mysteries to everything there is to know about the world and its amazing animals!

The Most Intelligent Animal on Earth? | Unedited Movie - Aliens of the Deep Sea | Nature Documentary

43:34
How has the octopus become so intelligent and capable of thinking in the abstract? Watch fascinating and often hilarious experiments to see just how smart they are. After this video, you'll never think about the octopus the same. In Aliens of the Deep Sea we get to see how octopuses behave in the wild too. Off the coast of Vancouver Island, underwater divers are watched by a huge octopus - a ghost like creature that lurks until it feels it's safe to emerge and be seen. It's an eerie encounter. This incredible documentary illustrates why the octopus is one of the ocean's most complex and enigmatic creatures which should be studied, not served in restaurants. The octopus uses cognitive reasoning to make deductions and understand its environment. It can shape shift, change color and texture on the fly to blend in with its surroundings to become either predator or defend itself from becoming prey. In one novel experiment we see an octopus wrap its tentacles around a screw-top jar that has a crab inside it. In slow but determined fashion, the octopus successfully opens the jar to get to its prey. The jar is unlike anything it would encounter in the wild - the octopus has used cognitive reasoning, not instinct, to catch its well-deserved lunch. The octopus has lived side-by-side with humankind from our earliest days. But it's only now that we're beginning to unravel the animal's secrets, and the extent of its formidable brain-power. Watch as an octopus slips out of its tank and slithers surreptitiously across a concrete floor. Is it making a break for freedom? Not at all. It knows that its prey is just a short distance away in another tank. As we learn, the octopus can move on land as well as underwater and the little round trip it has taken is not just to get from point A to point B. It's also taking this little detour because it's curious about the world it is living in. It's hard to believe that this animal is simply a mollusk. As far as his family tree goes, the octopus is more closely related to an oyster or a snail than to any other species of animal. And yet, as octopuses behave like shape shifters, moving in and out of tiny openings to get their reward, they are working out solutions the way humans do. They are able to think in the abstract. In Aliens of the Deep Sea we get to see how octopuses behave in the wild too. Amazingly, with all its powerful traits, the octopus has never become king of the sea. Researchers think that it's because of the female's short life span. They give up everything, including their life, for their eggs. But this sad reality may also be the reason that octopuses have an innate intelligence they have no choice but to learn by trial and error. Just how has an animal that is so different from humans become so intelligent? From Spain to Vancouver Island and finally to Capri, Italy, follow scientists as they try to understand how the octopus has evolved to have such intelligence, even by our standards. Through fascinating experiments audiences will discover there is still much to know about this mystifying creature. #Octopus #IntelligentOctopus #OctopusIntelligence #AmazingOctopus #AliensOfTheDeepSea

NINGEN: video evidence

05:59
The story of the Ningen was born when a team of Japanese scientists traveled to Antarctica to research whales. The expedition encountered a massive, unknown aquatic creature in the icy waters. The creature was as white as snow. Other than its colossal size, they claimed its body structure was almost humanoid in form. Thus, the creature was dubbed “ningen”, a Japanese word meaning “human”. Eyewitnesses estimated the length somewhere between 20 to 30 meters, or 66 to 98 feet. Subsequent expeditions have also allegedly encountered the ningen. Descriptions vary on a few details. Some claim the creature has arms. A few have even reported seeing hand and fingers. Others have reported seeing long fins but no arms. There have even been claims the ningen was seen standing upright on two legs. Such discrepancies no doubt raise suspicion on eye witness testimony. Yet these discrepancies alone ought not necessarily lead us to the conclusion that the eye witnesses were seeing things – or that they were lying about what they think they saw. Humans are notoriously bad at accurately recounting specific details from memory. This is why witness testimony is not considered to be as reliable as, say, video evidence in a court of law. Though video may be given more weight than witness testimony in court, it’s not necessarily an iron-clad form of evidence either. It’s no secret that – given the know-how and proper equipment, a pretty convincing video hoax can be created. When viewing the following clips, it’s prudent to keep this in mind. To date, there are only 3 known clips of the illusive beast. in this video, we will take a look at all 3 and analyze each. Clip number 1 is highly compressed, which is an immediate red flag, and I was unable to find any information on the original source. Though I can’t prove it’s a hoax, its authenticity is questionable at best. Clip number 2 is much higher quality than the last clip. The earliest source I could find was an upload from 2006. However, the 2006 upload appears to be a reupload. Rumor has it that the original source was a Japanese animation company, but I couldn’t find any hard evidence of that claim either. Clip number 3 came from JAMSTEC (Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology). Though the footage is authentic, there’s quite a bit of debate over exactly what this thing actually is… While many believe it to show the illusive Ningen, various other explanations have been offered. Some claim the object in question is a manatee. However, manatees are only found in much warmer waters and are not found this far south. Another possibility offered was that the object is nothing more than a stone formation with 2 sea creatures situated on either side – giving the appearance of eyes. This possibility is certainly more plausible than the manatee explanation and can’t be ruled out. The last possibility frequently mentioned is that the object is a beluga whale. Beluga whales do inhabit icy waters, but only in the northern sub-arctic and arctic region. In addition to this, beluga whales do not fit the anatomical profile of whatever is seen here. The last possibility is that whatever this is – is another species altogether that is also unknown to science. Given the vastness of earth’s oceans, and the fact that we know far more about the surface of the moon than we do about our own oceans, this possibility is not so far-fetched. After all, we are constantly finding new aquatic creatures that have never been previously cataloged. But at the end of the day, whatever is seen in clip 3 remains inconclusive. So which of these explanations do you think is the most likely? Let me know in the comment section below. However, its Pleistocene ancestor, the Megatherium, didn’t look so cute. In addition to being roughly the same size as a modern day elephant, it had large claws & scientific evidence suggests that it was even capable of bipedal locomotion. 12 Azhdarchid Once believed to be a species of winged dinosaur, this prehistoric animal was in fact closer related to the gigantic marine creatures that lived around the same time, during the Cretaceous Period. The Azhdarchid was a species of large flying reptiles known as Pterosaurs. 11 Therizinosaurus The feature that makes the Therizinosaurus so scary is not its massive size of 33 feet in length & up to five tons in weight but the enormous claws on each of the three digits on its front limbs. They are believed to have reached 3.3 feet in length, making them the largest claws of any known animal. 10 Daeodon With a massive head that could grow up to 3 feet in length, strong neck muscles & a large bulky body, the Daeodon was the last & largest of the entelodonts, an extinct family of pig-like omnivores. These creatures roamed the Earth approximately 37 million years ago & stood as high as 6.5 feet at the shoulder with slender hooved legs that were built for speed. They had full sets of teeth which included molars, heavy incisors & large canines. 9 Meganeura An ancestor of the modern-day dragonfly, the Meganeura is one of the largest known flying insects. It had a body length of approximately one foot & a wingspan that measured around 26 inches. It is believed that the Meganeura was carnivorous & predatory, feeding on other insects, amphibians & small invertebrates. 8 Jaekelopterus This terrifying creature was the top predator of the waters it inhabited. The Jaekelopterus is currently the largest arthropod ever discovered with a total length that exceeded eight feet, making it larger than a fully grown human. Also known as ‘the giant sea scorpion’ this alien-looking creature had a segmented body with multiple specialized limbs, some of which featured spikes. 7 Dunkleosteus Today our oceans are home to many scary creatures, but around 360 million years ago, when the Dunkleosteus swam their waters, the situation was much different. One component that added to the reputation of the Dunkleosteus was its sheer size. The Dunkleosteus terrelli, the largest of the species, measured up to 30 feet in length & weighed over a tone. 6 Megalania Even though Komodo dragons are currently the biggest lizards on the planet, they still pale in comparison to their prehistoric ancestor, the Megalania, considered the largest terrestrial lizards ever discovered. Also known as ‘The Giant Ripper Lizard’ this beast inhabited southern Australia during the Pleistocene. 5 Gigantopithecus Yeti, Sasquatch & other mythical ape-like creatures would most likely pale in comparison to the Gigantopithecus. This genus of ape is believed to have existed as recently as one hundred thousand years ago in the area that is now India, China & Vietnam. It same geographical location & the same time frame as several hominin species. 4 Livyatan melvillei Its name was inspired by a biblical monster & by Herman Melville, the author of ‘Moby Dick’, a novel about a giant whale. When considering the etymology of its name, it’s not hard to imagine what Livyatan melvillei might have looked like. It was similar in size to a modern day sperm whale, measuring up to a staggering 57 feet in length, with an average skull size of 9.8 feet. 3 Liopleurodon An apex predator of the Middle to Late Jurassic Period this marine reptile weighed as much as 3,700 pounds & measured up to 23 feet. Despite their enormous proportions, these creatures were good swimmers, using a four-flipper propulsion mode typical of the Plesiosauria order that they belonged to. 2 Sarcosuchus Because of its long body & scaly appearance the Sarcosuchus bore a resemblance to the modern day crocodile. Nicknamed SuperCroc, this animal was not actually a crocodile but had many of the same terrifying features. These included muscular tails, powerful jaws & muscles, sharp teeth & plates, known as osteoderms that covered the creature’s body from head to tail. 1 Arthropleura Many people are terrified of insects & bugs especially of those larger in size. However, none of the creepy-crawlers that are around today can compare to the creatures that lived around 300 million years ago that belonged to that Arthropleura genus. They are the largest known land invertebrates ever discovered.

MOST Terrifying Animal Mouths

10:55
From scary crocs and hippos to bizarre aliens and mutants; Here are 25 MOST Terrifying Animal Mouths Gharial (GUR-ee-uhl) You could say this critter has a big mouth … but it’s more accurate to say it has a LONG mouth, one that’s filled with over 100 sharp teeth! Their signature long, thin snouts are thought to be an adaptation to their diet, which is primarily fish. Sharks -- These fearsome creatures are more than familiar to us … but you don’t want to be too familiar with those big mouths filled with scary choppers. These animals have on average 15 rows of teeth. The Great White has around 24 teeth exposed along their top and bottom jaws. Hippo This almost looks like you’re on some sort of ride at the amusement park … or maybe taking a roller coaster ride into the pit of hell. It’s really the scary looking mouth of a hippo. Chances are, if you take a ride down that critter’s throat, it’ll be a one-way trip! The aggressive animals are also known for having the largest canines of any land animal. Those two sword-like teeth can reach 16 inches (40cm) long! Goose Mouth It would be too easy to believe that this was the creation of a warped mind playing around with Photoshop. After all, who could take a cute goose and make it look like it had been possessed by the Alien Xenomorph? But the picture hasn’t been manipulated … Geese really do have tongues with serrated teeth -- even if it looks more like a bizarre tentacle coming out of its mouth. Who knew these birds had such fowl mouths? Sarcastic Fringehead This bizarre creature almost looks like it could be a hybrid of the alien in Predator and the Reaper vampires from the “Blade” movies. But they’re really fish that are known to be highly territorial and aggressive. When threatened, it will expand its huge mouth and start flexing and snapping its jaws at an aggressor Scale Worm (Polychaeta) A lot of deep sea creatures can appear like aliens, and this one is no exception. It could easily be an alien life form, or some kind of supernatural beast from a Stephen King novel. Our number one terrifying animal mouth belongs to maybe the smallest creature on the list. These worms are found in the deep oceans, often near hydrothermal vents. They’re covered with scales and are known to be active predators.

10 Underwater Creatures with WEIRD Abilities

09:38
From a fish that can climb trees, to a solar-powered sea slug; Here are 10 Underwater Creatures with WEIRD abilities! Subscribe to Epic Wildlife http://goo.gl/6rzs5u Let's Connect -- http://www.epicadamwildlife.com/ -- http://www.facebook.com/epicadamwildlife -- http://www.twitter.com/epicwildlife -- http://gplus.to/epicwildlife 5. Sea Cucumbers -- These creatures have a novel ability that allows them to squeeze into -- or out of -- tight spaces at will. The collagen that forms their body wall can be loosened or contracted at will. If it needs to squeeze through a crevice, the animals will essentially ‘liquefy’ its body and pour itself into the space. Upon reaching its destination, the sea cucumber will made it's body firm again by hooking all of its collagen fibers together. Did you know these creatures also have a unique method of self-defense? When startled, they’re known to use a process experts refer to as ‘evisceration’ … The Sea Cucumber will eject part of its guts through the anus to scare off predators like fish and crabs. 4. Mimic Octopus These cephalopods are found in the Indo Pacific … and as their name implies, they’re quite skilled at assuming the identities of local species. They have pigment sacs called ‘chromatophores’ (kruh-MAT-uh-fawr)… enabling them to change the color of their skin and texture in order to stay camouflaged within their environment. Chromatophores (kruh-MAT-uh-fawr) also allow the animal to assume the very shape of various marine objects and animals as well. Normally, it’s a smaller octopus, growing to around 2 feet, including the arms … and its natural color is brown to beige. More often, it will exhibit a striped pattern, intended to evoke a toxic species and discourage predators. It’s called a ‘mimic’ octopus its shape-changing ability. Among the more common creatures it can imitate include the venomous Lionfish and Sea Snake. 3. The Mantis Shrimp These marine crustaceans are sometimes referred to as ‘thumb-splitters’, due to their ability to inflict severe lacerations if handled improperly. That’s due to their robust, hammer-like claws which are designed for close-quarters combat. They’re known to throw the fastest punch of any animal … with a velocity comparable to a .22 caliber bullet! That creates an effect called cavitation bubbles, which releases a shockwave that is strong enough to stun or kill the attacker. These creatures are also noted for having one of the most elaborate visual systems ever discovered. Mantis shrimp possess 16 types of color receptor cones … allowing them to perceive ultraviolet colors well beyond the range of humans … who have only 3 color receptor cones. 2. Planarians These freshwater flatworms are known for their regenerative abilities. For instance, if you decapitate one of these creatures, it will grow a new head. Researchers have found that the new head will actually retain the memories developed by the old one before it was removed. Experiments were conducted where some planarians were trained to tolerate light, which they normally avoid. Their heads were cut off … Some weeks later, after their noggins regenerated, they still exhibited a tolerance to light. Experts aren’t completely sure how this occurred. And did you know these flatworms can actually regrow an entire body from a single cell? Scientists from MIT bombarded a test subject with massive doses of radiation. The single cell of a healthy adult flatworm was placed within the tail of the dying subject. As that new cell started to divide, an entirely new body was regenerated within two weeks … genetically identical to that of the single transplanted cell! .1. Solar Powered Sea Slug (thumb) Eastern Emerald Elysia almost sounds like it could be a bizarre hybrid of a sea slug and a plant. But for the record, it’s a sea slug. The creature eats green algae … but in a process scientists still don’t fully understand, the sea slug hijacks a gene from the algae. It then incorporates that gene into its own chromosomes …enabling it to use the sun’s rays to convert carbon dioxide and water into a source of nutrients to sustain it -- or existing on solar power. The animal can essentially photosynthesize, not unlike a plant! In some pictures by Nicholas E. Curtis and Ray Martinez, you can see just how much the creature resembles a green plant leaf … it even has a network of veins that are extremely plantlike. Many of the same features can be found in pictures by Patrick Krug … along with how the animal seems to ‘wrap itself up’. As you study the pictures from all three photographers, the plantlike illusion is only shattered by the slug’s head … it’s always at the top of the leaflike object and has two protuberances that jut out. Researchers think the sea slug’s ability to ‘hijack plant genes’ might be adapted to treat human diseases.

Jen Neale on her award-nominated novel Land Mammals and Sea Creatures

02:01
Canadian novelist Jen Neale talks about her novel, Land Mammals and Sea Creatures, which nimbly follows a zig-zagging shoreline between the magic and the real, the beautiful and the vile. What begins with a beached whale dying on a remote B.C. beach spirals into a story of fish guts and human frailties, of intractable war wounds and uncanny animal suicides, of fathers and daughters, and PTSD and the legacies of depression. A salty tale of port-town dysfunction and universal pain. Neale was a finalist for the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize for this book. This video was produced by Rogers Media for the 2018 Writers’ Trust Awards event.
Strangest Creatures Found Living In Antarctica

Check out the strangest creatures found living in antarctica! This top 10 list of weird and bizarre discovered species has some unbelievable animals you won't believe actually exist! The Invertebrates I'm going to start right now with a class of creatures that you likely wouldn't expect to talk about when discussing Antarctica...invertebrates. Or, creatures without a spine. You might even think that these creatures don't exist on this continent, but you would be wrong. In fact, about 67 different kinds of invertebrates live on this frozen tundra. 12. Blue-Eyed Shag Ok, I'll be fully honest here, I put the Blue-Eyed Shag on this list because it looks strange, and then when I read up on it, it became even stranger. Let's start with some basics first. You might think that a Shag is a form of Penguin, but it's not. They're actually cormorants, which are a different definition of bird entirely, and in some ways, they're more efficient and talented than penguins are. 11. Eulagisca Gigantea The less I talk about this one? The better, but I'll do it. This...thing...is found in the oceans around Antarctica, but hey, it counts. Besides, look at this thing! Just about everything here is strange or wrong, or VERY WRONG! 10. Colossal Squid Sticking with the ocean creatures of Antarctica, let's talk about a creature that may have inspired a legend. The Colossal Squid is a very rare squid. Both to see...and to find. They only live near Antarctica in its cold waters, and its technically the only member of its genus, Mesonychoteuthis. 9. Icefish You ever hear the phrase, "He's got ice in his veins"? Meaning that they're cool and calm under pressure? Well, there's a fish that's like that, and it's literally called the Icefish. What's strange about them is that they're technically not just cold-blooded, they're just plain cold. In fact, their blood has no red blood cells. 8. Hairy Chested Hoff Crab Let's have a little fun, shall we? Look at the name of this creature. What comes to mind when you hear it? I'll give you a hint, it should remind you of something famous. Give up? Well, this unique crab was named after the one and only...David Hasselhoff. No, I'm not kidding, apparently, when this crab was discovered, the person who found it noticed their hairy-like exterior and thought of David Hasselhoff. 7. Sea Pig Another example of a strange name, the Sea Pig is almost exactly what it sounds like. ironically though, they are also known as sea cucumbers, which is again...strange. Also strange is how numerous they are. During a survey of the Antarctic waters, the BAS Royal Research Ship James Clark Ross, tried to catch and research as many animals as they could. 6. Krill Let's keep things small for a bit, ok? If you look at the food chain of the Antarctic waters, you're going to see a very small, and very strange creature at the bottom. Krill. In fact, Krill are not only the food of many creatures in the ocean, including big things like whales, they're actually one of the most basic organisms in the food chain itself, which is no small feat. 5. Feather Star My first entry was about the invertebrates of the Antarctic land, but what about the invertebrates of the Antarctic ocean? Well, that's another matter entirely, and one of the strangest ones has to be the Feather Star. 4. Basket Star Yeah, from feathers to baskets, there's some weird stuff underneath the oceans of Antarctica. So, why does the Basket Star top the Feather Star? Well, it has to do with its looks. The feather star could be mistaken for a starfish of sorts because of its shape. The Feather Star though? Looks like a living tree with no leaves. 3. Soft Coral It's coral...that's alive! Now, yes, coral is technically alive all over the world, but there's just something strange about this particular one that I have trouble explaining. It could be its flowery appearance, or the fact that it's able to survive in these cold waters, I don't know, but it's strange, I can attest to that. 2. Skates No, not like actual human skates, they're called Skates, and they're actually one of the rarest creatures near Antarctica. What's also strange is that they're one of the last creatures to use their mouths for crushing their food and not just biting them. They crush shellfish into submission and eat their innards. 1. Comb Jellies I can't even begin to describe just what these things are, but I'll do my best. Comb Jellies, despite what you think, are not Jellyfish, they are actually Ctenophora, which is a very special kind of see-through animal that can make its way through the oceans and look darn good doing it.

Encounters with 6 Deadly Sea Creatures

10:15
These are the biggest, most dangerous sea creatures ever! From dangerous shark attacks to lethal jellyfish stings, we're counting down the worst sea monster attacks in history. Subscribe for new videos: http://goo.gl/SaufF4 This video was done in collaboration with 101Facts! Check out their “101 Facts About Space” video here: https://youtu.be/hQW8dz8yAnI Full image attributions available here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/46h2hn7q2b3i1n2/Encounters%20with%206%20Deadly%20Sea%20Creatures.doc?dl=0 From paralyzing, venomous sea snakes to sunken ships in shark-infested waters, here are encounters with six of the deadliest creatures of the sea. Number 6: Bull Sharks Bull sharks can be found in oceans & rivers throughout all parts of the world, primarily in warm waters. Their ability to adapt to freshwater makes it possible for them to swim up rivers & not just confine themselves to saltwater. Due to their aggressive nature & proclivity to occupy shallow waters, they are among the most dangerous sea creatures in the world. Bulls sharks only grow to a maximum of 13 feet long on average & weigh about 290 pounds. But it was also this species that served as the inspiration for the 1974 horror novel, Jaws, which of course was adopted into the classic horror film of the same name a year later. The events that inspired this movie were the Jersey Shore shark attacks of 1916. From July 1st to the 12th, 1916, five people were attacked by bull sharks, four of which were killed. Charles Epting was the first victim on July 1st after a shark bit his leg, from which he later bled to death. Five days later on July 6th, another man named Charles Bruder was killed by a shark at a resort town in Spring Lake, New Jersey. He sustained such serious injuries while swimming close to shore, that he bled to death before lifeguards could manage to get him to safety. On July 12th, a group of young boys was playing in the water in Matawan Creek in Keyport, New Jersey. Among this group of boys was 11-year-old Lester Stilwell, who was splashing around with his friends when an 8-foot long bull shark approached the group then proceeded to pull Stilwell down into the water. His friends got help from a group of men that came to the rescue. One of them was local businessman, Watson Fisher, who jumped into the water to retrieve the boy's body. Fisher, too, was attacked as the townspeople stood by & watched the gruesome scene unfold in front of their very own eyes. Fisher lost Stilwell's corpse but managed to escape himself. However, he bled to death in the hospital just two days later. Only a 14-year-old boy named Joseph Dunn survived the series of bull shark attacks. He was rescued by his brother & a group of friends on the same day as Lester Stilwell's death. Dunn escaped the attack & spent the next two months recovering in a hospital. To this day, there is still no clear consensus explaining the sudden spike in shark-related deaths. There is also debate as to whether the attacks were from bull sharks or great white sharks. Witness descriptions make many believe it was bull sharks carrying out these deadly attacks. But weeks after they occurred, fishermen caught & killed a great white shark that nearly sank their boat. They brought the shark's body back, which scientists dissected & found human remains inside. They've since then left open the theory that at least one of the attacks was from a great white while the other attacks in Matawan Creek were likely from bull sharks, as they're far more likely to swim upstream. Number 5: Sea Snakes There are several different species classified under the term “sea snake,” most of which are extremely poisonous. The majority of them grow anywhere between 4 to 9 feet long & as their name would suggest, are fully adapted to living underwater. They also inhabit a wide geographic range, populating both the Pacific & Indian Oceans. Typically, they're found in shallow waters where humans are more likely to be. Like many snakes, the ones that roam the sea are also venomous. Occasions where they do deploy their venom can be very deadly if left untreated. Early symptoms include headaches, vomiting, & sweating. As the venom progresses, the body may begin to experience a rapid breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue. One might also experience a very painful stretching of the muscles as well as lockjaw. Eventually paralysis of the muscles & ptosis—or a drooping of the eyelids—will also set in. The muscle paralysis makes swallowing & breathing difficult. If a venomous bite goes untreated, it could ultimately mean the end of the victim with no hope of recovery. Number 4: The Box Jellyfish Box jellyfish can be found in the Indo-Pacific regions, parts of the Atlantic, the Mediterranean Sea, & off the coasts of California, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, & South Africa. The largest & most dangerous of this species are often found in waters near Australia.

Mermaids Mermaids have been both romanticised and villanised in fiction. We have our lovable Little Mermaid, Ariel, who just wants to be connected with the human world. But then again, we also have the evil but beautiful sirens who would sooner lead humans to their death while making them fall in love with their music. 7. The Beast of Dartmoor In the southwest of England, a cluster of moors called Dartmoor is home to a lot of creepy stories and sightings. A lot of people claim that certain areas of Dartmoor are haunted which can easily be shrugged off. However, many people have not only seen this next creature, but they’ve taken pictures of it. Maybe you have!!! 6. Zombies Many people actually believe that zombies are real.14% of Americans believe there is a small chance of a zombie apocalypse coming. All the zombie shows and movies aren’t helping so maybe these unreal creatures don’t need that much of an explanation... 5. Loch Ness Monster Supposedly, the Loch Ness Monster inhabits Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. Last year, 2017, was a great year for Nessie sightings!! Many people have snapped pictures of what they believed to be the fabled sea serpent but they’ve always been on pixelated phones or the image moved too quickly to be able to clarify for certain whether or not it is the creature. 4. Dracula While I could delve into the vast world of vampires throughout history, I’ll just focus on the most famous vampire that there is - Count Dracula. While Bram Stoker’s novel is entirely fictional, he was inspired by someone who is probably the closest historical evidence that we have of a real vampire. 3. Unicorns Now you have unicorn everything!! You can’t step into a clothing store anywhere without seeing something with a unicorn on it. Unicorn makeup, glitter, tears...Starbucks even created a unicorn inspired frappuccino. But where did the idea of unicorns come from? Do people still think they can see them? 2. Bigfoot This list would be incomplete without Big Foot. The sasquatch creature has been an unexplained phenomena for many years. Many people have claimed to have seen him themselves, there’s multiple pictures and videos but none of them are definitive evidence. Like any film taken on an old camera phone, they’re not entirely clear and could be anything - similarly to the Beast of Dartmoor. 1. Mummies The idea of mummies has been scaring children - and some adults - for years. Especially if you’ve seen Scooby Doo, you know that the zombie-like Egyptians can be quite terrifying. Of course, mummification was very real, which is perhaps what makes them so creepy. LARGEST Sea Creatures In The World

13:06
What are the largest creatures in the sea? Prehistoric Giant Sharks to huge whales and vicious sea monsters, these are the largest sea creatures in the world. SUBSCRIBE for the latest videos: https://goo.gl/7xzjzR Don't forget to CHECK OUT our latest upload: https://goo.gl/LUB8Xw 15. Lion’s Mane Jelly We start off with number 15...this scraggly looking creature looks like a floating hippie from the 1960s...can you say, Woodstock? This a Lion’s Mane Jellyfish. The diameter of the bell...that’s the top part can span to around 7 feet and tentacles close to 200 feet long. Can this be the largest sea creature ever discovered? 14. The Japanese spider crab Next, is a creepy spider-ish looking character call the Japanese spider crab. Sporting long spindly legs that can extend as far as 13 feet and weigh close to 50 pounds, this creature does like to eat other sea flesh...Maybe this sea creature is be the largest creature ever discovered? 13. Colossal Squid Coming in at number 13 is the Colossal Squid. This is the largest invertebrate in the world weighing around 11-hundred pounds and close to 50 feet in length. That’s longer than a school bus. The largest squid on the planet. 12. Ocean Sunfish (Mola mola) This next creature looks like just a floating fish head without a body. The Mola Mola, otherwise known as the ocean sunfish, is the largest bony fish in the ocean. There are other larger fish such as sharks, but they’re made up of cartilage not bones. As a result, these guys are darn heavy, the biggest fish known to man. 11.Portuguese Man O War The Portuguese Man O War is often mistaken for a jellyfish, but it’s a very different creature. It’s really incorrect to refer to it as a singular fish because it’s actually a coming together of a group of organisms that depend on each other for their existence. The Portuguese part of the name is derived by the sail looking form it takes as it floats on the surface, looking like a Portuguese warship from the 18th century. The biggest jellyfish. 10. Cretoxyrhina The next big boy of the sea actually is not around anymore...this is Cretoxyrhina...a-k-a the Ginzu Shark. Its common name is a reference to the well known Ginzu knives that can slice and dice just about anything. Living around 82 to 100 million years ago, this predator’s incredibly razor-sharp teeth would hack away on prey much larger than itself into more bite-size pieces to eat and digest. The largest prehistoric shark. 9. Great White Shark This next guy is one you’re probably familiar with. Made famous by the Peter Benchley novel “Jaws” and the Steven Spielberg movie that followed, the Great White Shark is one of the most active predatory creatures in the sea. The largest shark in existence. 8. Shastasaurus The largest marine reptile ever found is the Shastasaurus...meaning Mt. Shasta Lizard. Dating to the late Triassic period some 210 million years ago, this beak-looking creature has been found to be as large as nearly 70 feet in length. The largest sea monster ever recorded. 7. Tylosaurus Number seven...Tylosaurus. This guy sported a long cylindrical snout that is thought to have been used as a kind of sledgehammer to stun prospective prey into a stupor for attack and consumption. 6. Whale Shark Back to the creatures still living on the planet, the Whale Shark is the largest fish in the ocean. Despite being called a shark this is a gentle giant of a creature. 5. Mosasaurus Technically not a dinosaur, but another of the prehistoric aquatic lizards is the Mosasaurus...meaning Meuse River Lizard, where the first fossil was found. This one is the biggest sea monster that ever existed. 4. Pliosaurus Funkei (aka Predator X) In 2009 scientists were beside themselves with excitement about what was called Predator X. This was a Goliath of a reptile that had an immense head with the bite four times more powerful than T-Rex. In 2015, and is the biggest and largest ever. 3. Fin Whale Returning to the still-living creatures, Number 3... there is no short-selling the size of the Fin Whale. It is the second largest animal on earth. At an average length of close to 90 feet long and weighing more than 77 tons, this whale is truly enormous. Biggest whale in the world. 2. Megalodon Then there is Megalodon...meaning “big tooth.” This prehistoric shark is the stuff that legends are made of. But the fossils and remains dug up over the years tell us this was not just a legend. This sea creature was real. Listen to this audiobook in full for free with a 30-day trial: https://www.audiobooks.com/bookforfree/192946 When Georgia Quillian returns to her hometown of Miami, her husband, Graham, and their young son in tow, she is hoping for a fresh start. The family has fled Illinois trailing scandal and disappointment, the fallout from Graham's severe sleep disorder and Georgia's failed business. To make matters worse, their charming three-year-old son, Frankie, has for months refused to speak a word. Although Georgia is still grieving her mother's death from five years earlier, her father and stepmother offer warm welcome—and a slip for the dilapidated houseboat Georgia and Graham have chosen to call home. On a lark, Georgia takes a job as an errand runner for a reclusive artist who lives in the middle of the bay, and she soon finds that time spent with the intense hermit might help Frankie find the courage to speak, and might also help her reconcile the woman she was with the woman she has become. But when Graham leaves to work on a research vessel in Hurricane Alley, and the truth behind Frankie's mutism is revealed, the family's challenges return, more complicated than before. As a hurricane bears down on South Florida later that summer, Georgia must face the fact that her choices have put her only child in grave danger. Sea Creatures is a mesmerizing exploration of the high stakes of marriage and parenthood, the story of a woman forced to choose between her husband, her child, and the possibility of new love. https://goo.gl/Q2FaUY PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL LIKE AND SHARES MY VIDEOS Sea Animals | Stories for Children | Bedtime Stories | Aesop | Short Story for Kids | Fairy Tales https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Igls7d6xwl4 Fairy tales are magical make-believe stories that have enchanted us through the ages. We are here to unlock the spiritual significance of fables and fairy tales; to use herstory and history as a means to understand our current spiritual journey. Fairy tales may be distinguished from other folk narratives such as legends and explicitly moral tales, including beast fables.Fairy tales are found in oral and in literary form. Fairy tales, and works derived from fairy tales, are still written today. Folklorists have classified fairy tales in various ways. sea animals sea animals story short bedtime stories short stories sea animals short bedtime stories for kids sea stories for children bedtime story fables sea bedtime story stories about under the sea for children sea stories for kids bed time story kids under the sea stories of sea animals bedtime story for kids sea life stories about sea life animals of the sea for kids story plants bedtime story under the sea short story sea creatures for kids sea animals for children sea animals book sea animals fairy tale for children short story about under the sea bedtime sea animal stories under the sea stories for kids Everyone is familiar with Aesop's Fables. Aesop has been credited with inventing the fable. Indeed, the name Aesop has become synonymous with fables. However, animal fables existed long before Aesop. Herodotus seemed to think everyone knew Aesop and his fables so well that he did not need to give any details of Aesop or his work. Fable is a literary genre: a succinct fictional story, in prose or verse, that features animals, mythical creatures, plants, inanimate objects, or forces of nature that are anthropomorphized. A fable differs from a parable in that the latter excludes animals, plants, inanimate objects, and forces of nature as actors that assume speech or other powers of humankind. Some of the best stories for kids are the classics. These stories have been around for generations, and are still best sellers and favorites in many families. Many great stories for kids are available today in the bookstores as well as online. Short Moral Stories seem hard to come by these day or maybe just that there are so many shows and stories available with no moral content. A bedtime story is a traditional form of storytelling, where a story is told to a child at bedtime to prepare the child for sleep. It's really better if you have soft, comfortable jammies for them. Next, you might want to read your child a bedtime story. These could be kids story or your own corrected and recorded journals. The varying corpus denoted Aesopica or Aesop's Fables includes most of the best-known western fables, which are attributed to the legendary Aesop, supposed to have been a slave in ancient Greece around 550 BC. Creatures of the Abyss by Murray Leinster, read by Mark Nelson, complete unabridged audiobook

05:32:38
Unabridged audio book - Genre(s): General Fiction Creatures of the Abyss Murray Leinster (1896 - 1975) Orejas de ellos, "the things that listen", whispered the superstitious fishermen when the strange occurrences began off the Philippine coast. How else explain the sudden disappearance of a vessel beneath a mysterious curtain of foam? The writhings of thousands of maddened fish trapped in a coffin-like area of ocean? What monsters gorged at the bottom of the Luzon Deep and what were their plans? Radar expert Terry Holt and the crew of the Esperance had to devise a weapon against the horrifying creatures which threatened mankind with extinction. Here are terror, excitement, and the clutch of cold death as combined by a master hand in the field of science fiction. Creatures Found by NOAA's Deep Ocean Explorer "Okeanos"

Music: Bottom of the Sea by Dhruva Aliman https://dhruvaaliman.bandcamp.com/album/hard-to-get-along http://www.dhruvaaliman.com/ - Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/artist/5XiFCr9iBKE6Cupltgnlet ...NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer wrapped up a three-year campaign to investigate and document deep waters in U.S. central Pacific waters, the high seas, and waters of several Pacific Island countries and territories. We then headed back to the Gulf of Mexico, to explore deep-sea habitats and associated marine communities in the Gulf. This video captures just some of the highlights from 2017 activities. NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer will return to the Atlantic Ocean and conduct a series of expeditions to continue exploration of the deep waters of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and North Atlantic. A multidisciplinary team of scientists, technicians, and engineers – both on board the ship and on shore – will conduct undersea mapping and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) explorations of the geological, biological, archaeological, and chemical features of these vast areas. The team will investigate the Gulf of Mexico, Mid- and South Atlantic Bight, Northeast U.S./Canada transboundary area, and a priority mapping area in international waters south of Bermuda. The Atlantic expeditions are all part of the Atlantic Seafloor Partnership for Integrated Research and Exploration (ASPIRE) campaign - an umbrella for a subset of deepwater field activities that support the Galway Statement on Atlantic Ocean Cooperation exit icon. NOAA is proud to be partnering with Canada and the European Union to conduct work in support of the Galway Statement. The Galway Statement is an initiative between the U.S., Canada, and the European Union to advance knowledge of the Atlantic Ocean leading to improved stewardship and understanding. Operations in all areas will be designed to complement previous and planned work. Expeditions will also include two technology demonstrations to test novel approaches or emerging technologies for ocean science, strengthening the use of the Okeanos Explorer as a platform for technology advancement and testing. Throughout the year, telepresence technology will allow you to follow discoveries via the NOAA Ocean Explorer website, putting the unexplored ocean directly into your hands. The Okeanos Explorer will transit from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico and ultimately the Atlantic Ocean – while mapping as much as possible along the way. From mid-October to November, the ship will transit about 5,000 nautical miles from Hawaii to Panama while mapping key unexplored areas along the Clarion Fracture Zone.

Sea Monster in Alaska CAUGHT on Video by U S Government ?

07:53
From Nessie making an appearance in Alaska, to the Russian's finding something extremely unsettling, this is Crypto Fun Friday ! While most people have to go searching for the Loch Ness Monster, a vacationer was fortunate enough to be gazing at the Loch … when Nessie simply popped her head out of the water … at least that’s the story we heard. A 28-year-old woman was on the balcony of her holiday home at Loch Ness when she saw a mysterious ripple on the surface, followed by a ‘blue thing’ swimming across. She grabbed her phone and managed to snap a few pictures … but when she tried to zoom in, the object disappeared. The woman claimed it’s not often one sees a monster while on holiday … but did she really see one? Here’s another potential sea monster that was caught on video … this time in Russia. What appeared to be a huge, serpent-like object in remote Lake Turgoyak (tur-goy-ak) has people making the Nessie tie-ins. A kayaker said he spotted the mysterious object causing ripples on one area of the lake’s surface. The video footage shows large black rings that conceivably resemble the coils of a snake. While the kayaker claims the object appeared to be around 15 meters long and serpentine … he also conceded the ripples could have been caused by divers training. But as it turns out, no dive teams were swimming deep in that area of the lake on that day. Aside from the obvious comparison to Nessie, we couldn’t find that many theories about what this snakelike thing might have been … Care to give it a go? Some of the clearest pictures of the Loch Ness Monster appeared earlier in 2016 … if it really was the legendary Nessie. An amateur photographer named Ian Bremner snapped the pictures that show a dark creature with a long, serpentine body bobbing along the surface of Loch Ness. The animal is estimated at around 2 meters long appears to have a tail, and and has a silvery sheen on its skin. Many sceptics point out that the animal’s head could be a seal, and the picture merely shows three of them playing in the water. But Mr Bremner has his believers … and they say the images closely resemble the most sharply focused examples of Nessie yet found. Accounts of a sea monster have been documented since the 1800s in Barmouth, Wales when footprints as big as an elephant’s were found on the beach. Subsequent accounts described the creature’s appearance as similar to a crocodile’s. WItnesses who claimed to see the creature in broad daylight in 1975 described it as having a square face with a long neck and tail, and flippers. Earlier in 2016, the first-ever photograph of the legendary beast possibly surfaced. Have you ever heard of the Morag (mor-rag)? It’s a Scottish sea monster that makes its home in Loch Morar (mora) … about 70 miles from Loch Ness. Stories of the creature date back to 1887 … and this cryptid is something of a paradox. It’s been described as having a beautiful, mermaid-like visage … but it’s also described as a demonic character whose presence was considered to portend death. According to folklore, the Morag can appear like a black heap that slowly rises in the water and moves along like a waterlogged boat. But more recent accounts describe it as a humped, serpentine creature, more along the lines of Nessie. The best known sighting occurred in 1969, when two men accidentally struck the creature with their boat. Let’s head back to Russia for this one … At remote Lake Labynkyr (la-bink-er) in Siberia, a mysterious dark creature is said to inhabit the deep, icy waters. It’s called the 'Labynkyr (la-bink-er) Devil’ … and the lake it inhabits is so secluded that no one lives within a 100 mile radius. Except for an adventurer named Andrey Solovyez, who’s keeping a vigil there.. He’s braving temperatures of -50 degrees Celsius because he’s convinced he has proof of the creature’s existence -- his fishing nets were torn and shredded by something too powerful to be a fish. Reports of a Nessie-type creature have persisted in the region since the 19th century. And according to some scientists, sonar readings do indicate that at least one huge creature might lurk under the surface. Sightings analyzed by experts conclude the creature is up to 10 meters long, with a massive jaw that has a beaklike appearance and lots of teeth. Theories include the creature being a prehistoric marine reptile such as an ichthyosaurs (itch-thee-o-sore) or plesiosaur. Another possibility is the creature being a relic killer whale that was somehow marooned in the lake. For now, scientists still have no explanation for what the kind of animal it might be. When Norman Mail Pigeon arrives with a mysterious blue envelope addressed to Eric Seagull, Rock-Face Nest at St Mary’s Bay, in sunny South Devon, the herring gull finds himself in all sorts of trouble. Leaving his tiny best friend and housemate Herbie the white mouse behind, he begins his journey to save his French Cousin Percy. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1916) [Silent Movie] [Adventure] [Science Fiction]

01:38:43
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is a 1916 silent film directed by Stuart Paton. The film's storyline is based on the novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne. It also incorporates elements from Verne's The Mysterious Island. This version is notable for its groundbreaking work in underwater photography by the brothers George M. Williamson and J. Ernest Williamson. Actual underwater cameras were not used, but a system of watertight tubes and mirrors allowed the camera to shoot reflected images of underwater scenes staged in shallow sunlit waters. The film was made by The Universal Film Manufacturing Company (now Universal Pictures), not then known as a major motion picture studio. Yet in 1916, they financed this film's innovative special effects, location photography, large sets, exotic costumes, sailing ships, and full-size navigable mock-up of the surfaced submarine Nautilus. Hal Erickson has said that "the cost of this film was so astronomical that it could not possibly post a profit, putting the kibosh on any subsequent Verne adaptations for the next 12 years." On May 4, 2010, a new print of the film was shown accompanied by live performance of an original score by Stephin Merritt at the Castro Theatre, as part of the San Francisco International Film Festival. The movie is about a strange giant "sea creature" which has been rampaging the seas. The American naval ship Abraham Lincoln is sent to investigate, but is rammed by "the creature" which turns out to be The Nautilus, the fantastic submarine of the enigmatic Captain Nemo, and "Rudderless, the "Abraham Lincoln" drifts on". Then, in "A strange rescue" he guides the sub to surface under those pitched overboard and his crew take them, including Professor Aronnax, and his daughter (who are French) below through a hatch in the surface of the deck. After they pledge not to escape, Nemo shows them the wonders of the underwater world, and even takes them hunting on the sea floor. Meanwhile, soldiers in a runaway Union Army Balloon are marooned on a mysterious island not far from the submarine. They find a wild girl living alone on the island ("a child of nature"). The yacht of Charles Denver arrives at the island. A former Indian colonial officer, he has been haunted by the ghost of a woman (Princess Daaker) that he attacked years ago; she stabbed herself rather than submit to him. He fled with her young daughter and then abandoned the child on the island. The long-tormented Denver has returned to see what became of her. One of the Union soldiers schemes and kidnaps the wild girl onto Denver's yacht. Another soldier swims aboard to rescue her. At the same time, Nemo discovers that the yacht belongs to Denver, the enemy he has been seeking all these years. The Nautilus destroys the yacht with a torpedo, but the girl and her rescuer are saved from the water by Captain Nemo. In elaborate flashback scenes to India, Nemo reveals that he is Prince Daaker, and that he created the Nautilus to seek revenge on Charles Denver. He is overjoyed to discover that the abandoned wild girl is his long-lost daughter, but his emotion is such that he expires. His loyal crew bury him at the ocean bottom. They disband and the Nautilus is left to drift to its own watery grave. --- Directed by Stuart Paton, produced by Carl Laemmle, written by Jules Verne (novel) and Stuart Paton, starring Lois Alexander, Curtis Benton, Wallace Clarke, Allen Holubar and Jane Gail. --- Source: "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1916 film)" Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia.
