Samsung Announces New and Enhanced Quality Assurance Measures to Improve Product Safety

02:19
http://samtizen.blogspot.com/2017/01/samsung-galaxy-note-7.html Following the Note7 incidents, Samsung has developed strict quality assurance protocols across its entire development process in an effort to renew its commitment to safety. The new and enhanced safety measures are as follows: Samsung’s enhanced 8-Point Battery Safety Check addresses safety from the component level to the assembly and shipment of devices. Included in the check are enhanced tests (Durability Test, Visual Inspection, X-Ray Test, Disassembling Test and △OCT Test), as well as newly applied measures (Charge and Discharge Test, TVOC Test and Accelerated Usage Test). Samsung’s enhanced multi-layer safety measures protocol will implement strict safety standards on every element of the company’s devices including the overall design and materials used, device hardware strength and capabilities, and improved software algorithms for safer battery charging temperature, current and duration. Samsung formed a battery advisory group of external advisers made up of academic and research experts to ensure the company maintains a clear and objective perspective on battery safety and innovation. Members include Clare Grey, Ph.D., Professor of Chemistry, University of Cambridge; Gerbrand Ceder, Ph.D., Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, UC Berkeley; Yi Cui, Ph.D., Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, Stanford University; and Toru Amazutsumi, Ph.D., CEO, Amaz Techno-consultant. Samsung hopes that this case will serve as an opportunity to improve the safety of lithium-ion batteries not only for the company but for the entire industry, and will actively share the lessons learned to contribute toward improved safety standards. https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-announces-new-and-enhanced-quality-assurance-measures-to-improve-product-safety

What is ANALYTICAL QUALITY CONTROL? What does ANALYTICAL QUALITY CONTROL mean?

05:13
What is ANALYTICAL QUALITY CONTROL? What does ANALYTICAL QUALITY CONTROL mean? ANALYTICAL QUALITY CONTROL meaning - ANALYTICAL QUALITY CONTROL definition - ANALYTICAL QUALITY CONTROL explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Analytical quality control, commonly shortened to AQC refers to all those processes and procedures designed to ensure that the results of laboratory analysis are consistent, comparable, accurate and within specified limits of precision. Constituents submitted to the analytical laboratory must be accurately described to avoid faulty interpretations, approximations, or incorrect results. The qualitative and quantitative data generated from the laboratory can then be used for decision making. In the chemical sense, quantitative analysis refers to the measurement of the amount or concentration of an element or chemical compound in a matrix that differs from the element or compound. Fields such as industry, medicine, and law enforcement can make use of AQC. AQC processes are of particular importance in laboratories analysing environmental samples where the concentration of chemical species present may be extremely low and close to the detection limit of the analytical method. In well managed laboratories, AQC processes are built into the routine operations of the laboratory often by the random introduction of known standards into the sample stream or by the use of spiked samples. Quality control begins with sample collection and ends with the reporting of data. AQC is achieved through laboratory control of analytical performance. Initial control of the complete system can be achieved through specification of laboratory services, instrumentation, glassware, reagents, solvents, and gases. However, evaluation of daily performance must be documented to ensure continual production of valid data. A check should first be done to ensure that the data should be seen is precise and accurate. Next, systematic daily checks such as analysing blanks, calibration standards, quality control check samples, and references must be performed to establish the reproducibility of the data. The checks help certify that the methodology is measuring what is in the sample. The quality of individual AQC efforts can be variable depending on the training, professional pride, and importance of a particular project to a particular analyst. The burden of an individual analyst originating AQC efforts can be lessened through the implementation of quality assurance programs. Through the implementation of established and routine quality assurance programs, two primary functions are fulfilled: the determination of quality, and the control of quality. By monitoring the accuracy and precision of results, the quality assurance program should increase confidence in the reliability of the reported analytical results, thereby achieving adequate AQC. Validation of analytical procedures is imperative in demonstrating that a drug substance is suitable for a particular purpose. Common validation characteristics include: accuracy, precision (repeatability and intermediate precision), specificity, detection limit, quantitation limit, linearity, range, and robustness. In cases such as changes in synthesis of the drug substance, changes in composition of the finished product, and changes in the analytical procedure, revalidation is necessary to ensure quality control. All analytical procedures should be validated. Identification tests are conducted to ensure the identity of an analyte in a sample through comparison of the sample to a reference standard through methods such as spectrum, chromatographic behavior, and chemical reactivity. Impurity testing can either be a quantitative test or a limit test. Both tests should accurately measure the purity of the sample. Quantitative tests of either the active moiety or other components of a sample can be conducted through assay procedures. Other analytical procedures such as dissolution testing or particle size determination may also need to be validated and are equally important. Because of the complex inter-relationship between analytical method, sample concentration, limits of detection and method precision, the management of AQC is undertaken using a statistical approach to determine whether the results obtained lie within an acceptable statistical envelope. In circumstances where more than one laboratory is analysing samples and feeding data into a large programme of work such as the Harmonised monitoring scheme in the UK, AQC can also be applied to validate one laboratory against another. In such cases the work may be referred to as inter-laboratory calibration.

Improve Operator Efficiency - Manufacturing

02:28
Measuring and improving operator efficiency of machines and equipment on the shopfloor can have a dramatic effect on manufacturing productivity and output. PlantRun systems can be used to measure, track and analyse individual operator performance and compare the performance of machine operators against time/machine/product etc.. This allows you to identify under performing staff for re-training and to spread the best practices of your most efficient staff thereby improving operator efficiency. Improved Time Management Operators starting late, taking extra time during breaks, finishing early and taking longer to restart a machine than they should is a typical scenario in many manufacturing companies. Even if this is only arriving at the machine 5 minutes late, starting up 5 minutes later, taking an extra 10 minutes over lunchtime and then finishing 10 minutes early it amounts to 30 minutes in an 8 hour shift equivalent to 6.25%. Without continuous monitoring in place this is often much longer. And this is per machine, if you have 20 machines you are losing 10 man hours per shift! Maybe you don't think your staff do this, but until you measure breaks accurately you don't really know. For one PlantRun user a "ten minute" break period was reduced from 23 minutes down to 13 minutes upon installation of the system! Increasing Operator Productivity An example of increased operator productivity comes from a wire fabrication company producing a wide range of goods including roll containers, stillages, pallet converters, dollies, picking trollies and garment rails. The company employ a core staff of around 100 staff but at peak production times this number can double with low skilled agency staff. The productivity of temporary staff is variable and with a relatively labour intensive production process maximising operator output is vital. All the fabrication machinery is monitored for machine utilization efficiency. Operators log on to the system at shift start up and the system monitors run time, stop time and reasons for stoppage. By analysing downtime stoppages problems such as extended operator breaks are identified and addressed. System reports make it easy to identify operators with poor productivity performance for training or replacement. A typical reported improvement in operator productivity boosted output per shift from 80 to 94 units, an increase of 17.5%. Improved Motivation Staff motivation can be improved in two ways. Firstly, the data collected by the system can be used to keep staff informed of their performance against target production rates either using the keypad terminals or large shopfloor displays. Goal setting and competition between work groups or cells can significantly improve motivation and output. Secondly, the awareness that production is being monitored and the understanding that computers can't lie often have a refreshing effect on staff behavioural patterns and bad practices that may have been formed over time. In some cases dramatic improvements in productivity have been recorded before systems have been fully installed, simply from improving operator efficiency.

Quality has become a critical driver for long-term success through continuous process improvement and customer satisfaction. Quality Management today concerns the entire value chain, encompassing multi-tiered supplier networks and customer service and returns. This course balances the quantitative elements of quality engineering with a managerial approach to using quality in an organization to effect change. We cover the statistical basics needed for each of the well-known process-improvement cycle steps: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control, covering the most important quality methods and techniques including sampling, statistical process control, process capability, regression analysis, and design of experiments. Quality assurance is examined, from the viewpoint of quality incorporated into product design, measuring and controlling quality in production and improving quality using quantitative problem-solving and interactive, guided exercises. The contents of this course are essentially the same as those of the corresponding TUM class (Quality Engineering and Management) and will enable you to immediately understand and apply quality concepts in your work and research.

#Buying Office and Garments factory Quality Control Guide Line part-3

10:49
#Buying Office and Garments factory Quality Control Guide Line part-3 #RMGPatternMaking16 Using the Sampling Plan follow the procedures below Locate the appropriate lot size on the sampling plan The lot size (identifiable lot) is the total number of units that you start with, read down the “lot size” column of the Sampling Plan until you find the range that includes the number of items in the lot you are inspecting. For example: If your lot had 1,800 units, you would use the “1201-3200” range to determine the number of units you should inspect. Determine the number of units to inspect Look in the “Units of Inspect” column corresponding to your lot size to locate the exact number of units you must inspect. Be sure to select the number corresponding to the correct AQL for your merchandise. Determine the number of defective units you may accept On the Sampling Plan, the number of defective units allowed is listed in the “Accept” column. One defective unit over the acceptable unit over the acceptable amount is a lot audit failure. For example: Suppose you are Inspecting a lot size to 1,000 units. The quality standard for the product being audited is 2.5 AQL. Look at the Sampling Plan to determine how many units you would select for your sample and how many defective units are allowed. You will find the following information: 32 Units to Inspect 2 defective Units Allowed Suppose the lot size has 5000 units. The quality standard is 2.5 AQL. Looking at the Sampling plan, you should find the following: 80 Units to Inspect 7 Defective Units Allowed Page-21/27 If you find the number of defective units are allowed or less, the lot can be accepted. If you find more defective units than allowed, the lot must be rejected. If rejected, the entire lot must be 100% inspected and all defects corrected. Assuring random sampling Statistical auditing involves selecting a few units from the whole lot, doing a very thorough inspection of those few, and making a projection based on the results. Therefore, it is extremely important that the units be selected by random sampling. Ideally, this means that you select your sample from the entire lot. All units in the lot must be complete before you take your sample. As a production cut or lot starts coming out of production, you cannot take your sample from just the first 25-50% of the lot. You can take a few of your samples from early production, but representative samples must also be taken from the last part of the production. With apparel merchandise, you have some assurance of getting random sampling by selecting units in a ratio corresponding to the size and color breakdown. Here is an example of how it could work: Production Lot: Lot Colors Lot Sizes Lot Total by Color 8 10 12 14 16 Red 85 125 165 85 40 500 Blue 42 63 83 42 20 250 White 42 63 83 42 20 250 Total by Size 169 251 331 169 80 1000 Random Sampling: -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Gabardine Pant Cutting for Men !
