Upgrade RHEL 6.3 to OL 6.6

This is a short runthrough showing how to convert an unregistered Red Hat Linux (RHEL) evalutation system to free to use Oracle Linux (OL) in-place, whilst simultaneously upgrading to the latest update and all future updates and patches, using Oracle's public yum repository http://public-yum.oracle.com Following some requests, here are the commands we run in a simple list: cd /etc/yum.repos.d rm redhat.repo /* not that this may be different on your system, just remove the red hat repos */ wget http://public-yum.oracle.com/RPM-GPG-KEY-oracle-ol6 -o /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-oracle-ol6 wget http://public-yum.oracle.com/public-yum-ol6.repo yum erase ibreport-plugin-rhtsupport yum update

CentOS 7: Could not retrieve mirrorlist

01:24
Fix of the yum update error: could not retrieve mirrorlist. The cause of the problem is that dhclient didn't start at the boot, so you don't have network. To fix that, you need to edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ens33 (in my case). Can be also eth0. Change ONBOOT=no to ONBOOT=yes. That will make dhclient start on boot. Then run dhclient, so you have network in current session. Music: Clee Mashi - Help the Others https://soundcloud.com/cleemashi

Problem installing and running Gluu Server on Centos 7

07:07
I could not start the Gluu Server to run the install script. perhaps new instructions need to be posted on how to use systemctl. Also, at about 1:55 I say that I think the "yum install wget" command worked. It did not. I was testing yum at the time which was not working because of a (local) repo problem and all yum install requests were not working at that time. They began working after I removed and reinstalled the Gluu repo.

Installing syslog-ng on CentOS 7

03:24
Imagine a situation in which you need a new syslog-ng feature, which is not available in the official Linux distribution package. For example, you want to use syslog-ng for sending log messages, to Elasticsearch or Apache Kafka. For this, you can use one of the unofficial syslog-ng RPM repositories, for example, Cent OS 7. This video and our blog will guide you through the installation. The core syslog-ng package includes only the core functionality. Features requiring additional dependencies are available as sub-packages. The most popular sub-package is syslog-ng Java, which installs the Java-based big data destination drivers, for example, Elasticsearch, Kafka, and HDFS. But there are many others as well. To help you with the installation, open our blog: https://syslog-ng.com/blog/installing-latest-syslog-ng-on-rhel-and-other-rpm-distributions It has step-by-step instructions on how to install syslog-ng on Cent-OS 7. Also check out the Java blog from https://syslog-ng.com/blog/troubleshooting-java-support-syslog-ng/ Installing syslog-ng on CentOS 7 1. The Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux (EPEL) repository contains many useful packages, which are not included in RHEL. A few dependencies of syslog-ng are available this repo. You can enable it by downloading and installing an RPM package: wget https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/epel-release-latest-7.noarch.rpm rpm -Uvh epel-release-latest-7.noarch.rpm 2. Add the repo containing the latest unofficial build of syslog-ng. By the time of writing it is syslog-ng 3.11 and it is available on the Copr build service. Download the repo file to /etc/yum.repos.d/, so you can install and enable syslog-ng: cd /etc/yum.repos.d/ wget https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/czanik/syslog-ng314/repo/epel-7/czanik-syslog-ng314-epel-7.repo yum install syslog-ng systemctl enable syslog-ng systemctl start syslog-ng 3. Add any further sub-packages you need. 4. It is not strictly required, but you can avoid some confusion, if you also delete rsyslog at the same time: yum erase rsyslog

Asterisk installation and configuration on CentOS7

21:13
Here is a simple and easy way to install Asterisk over CentOS 7 [[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[ Asterisk is an open source telephony switching and private branch exchange service for Linux and is completely free framework for creating programs and is subsidized by Digium. Asterisk can change a common pc into a emails server. Asterisk abilities IP PBX methods, VoIP gateways, conference web servers, customer solutions and is used by companies such as telecommunication, suppliers and for countries worldwide For this install I am using Asterisk 11.0.0 and will be compiling from source on CentOS 7. This tutorial should also work on Fedora and RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) systems with little or no modification. First type command su Then, you will want to be sure that your server OS is up to date. yum update -y Disable SELinux by changing “enforcing” to “disabled” in /etc/selinux/config. Use a text editor or copy and paste this command. sed -i s/SELINUX=enforcing/SELINUX=disabled/g /etc/selinux/config After you update and disable SELinux, you’ll need to reboot. reboot Next, you will want to resolve basic dependencies. (More information on Asterisk dependencies.) yum install -y make wget openssl-devel ncurses-devel newt-devel libxml2-devel kernel-devel gcc gcc-c++ sqlite-devel libuuid-devel Change into the /usr/src/ directory to store your source code. cd /usr/src/ Download the source tarballs. These commands will get the current release of DAHDI 2.6, libpri 1.8 and Asterisk 11. wget http://downloads.asterisk.org/pub/telephony/dahdi-linux-complete/dahdi-linux-complete-current.tar.gz wget downloads.asterisk.org/pub/telephony/libpri/libpri-current.tar.gz wget http://downloads.asterisk.org/pub/telephony/asterisk/asterisk-11-current.tar.gz Extract the files from the tarballs. tar zxvf dahdi-linux-complete* tar zxvf libpri* tar zxvf asterisk* For the next set of commands it is important to follow the proper order: DAHDI first, then libpri, then Asterisk. Install DAHDI. cd /usr/src/dahdi-linux-complete* make && make install && make config Install libpri. cd /usr/src/libpri* make && make install Change to the Asterisk directory. cd /usr/src/asterisk* In the next step, running the “configure” script will vary depending on whether your system is 32-bit or 64-bit. (Watch the video for more details.) When the menu select command runs, select your options, then choose “Save and Exit” and the install will continue. Use this command if you are installing Asterisk on 32bit CentOS. ./configure && make menuselect && make && make install Use this command if you are installing Asterisk on 64bit CentOS. ./configure --libdir=/usr/lib64 && make menuselect && make && make install Optional: If you ran into errors you will want to clean the install directory before recompiling. make clean && make distclean Once you have an error-free install, copy the sample files from the configs subdirectory into /etc/asterisk. make samples Then add the Asterisk start script to the /etc/init.d/ directory make config Start DAHDI. service dahdi start Enable the Asterisk services at system boot time. chkconfig asterisk on Start Asterisk. service asterisk start Connect to the Asterisk CLI. asterisk -rvvv And now you have Asterisk 11 running on CentOS 7! If you’d like to continue configuring Asterisk you can check out this guide to setting up basic pbx functionality or leave a comment to share your thoughts below! How to install Asterisk 13 on Cent OS 6. How to Install Asterisk 13 and PJSIP on CentOS 6. #asterisk #asterisx #centos #epbax 1 yum update 2 yum install -y epel-release dmidecode gcc-c++ ncurses-devel libxml2-devel make wget openssl-devel newt-devel kernel-devel sqlite-devel libuuid-devel gtk2-devel jansson-devel binutils-devel install pjproject Next you will download and install the pjproject sip library directly from pjsip.org. But first we’ll change directories to work in the /usr/src directory. 3 cd /usr/src 4 wget http://www.pjsip.org/release/2.3/pjproject-2.3.tar.bz2 5 tar -jxvf pjproject-2.3.tar.bz2 This will create the pjproject-2.3 directory. Change to this directory and run the following set of commands to build and install the pjproject sip library. 6 cd pjproject-2.3 7 ./configure CFLAGS="-DNDEBUG -DPJ_HAS_IPV6=1" --prefix=/usr --libdir=/usr/lib64 --enable-shared --disable-video --disable-sound --disable-opencore-amr 8 make dep 9 make 10 make install 11 ldconfig And finally this next command will verify the pjsip libraries have been dynamically linked. 12 ldconfig -p | grep pj Your output should look something like this: Install Asterisk 13 Now we’ll download and install the Asterisk 13 branch from source. First we’ll change directory up one level to /usr/src. 13 cd .. Then we’ll use the wget command to download the tarball from downloads.asterisk.org. 14 wget http://downloads.asterisk.org/pub/telephony/asterisk/asterisk-13-current.tar.gz Next the tar command will unpack the Asterisk source code into a new directory named asterisk-13-current. Then we’ll go to the new directory. 15 tar -zxvf asterisk-13-current 16 cd asterisk-13-current 17 ./configure --libdir=/usr/lib64 Next you will run the make menuselect command. This step will verify if the pjsip channel driver dependencies have been successfully installed. 18 make menuselect After exiting the menu, select screen the next set of commands will build and install Asterisk along with a set of sample configuration files. 19 make && make install 20 make samples If you want Asterisk to start at boot time use the following command to setup the Asterisk service. 21 make config And finally, run the command “service asterisk start” to immediately begin the Asterisk service without the need to reboot first.

Using yum for Linux - Tips and Tricks

09:56
Courtesy of Programmers Institute This video gives you some insight on how to use the yum program to more effectively download programs rather than hunting down rpm's or recompiling tar source files. This is on a Fedora 11 system but other Linux systems have similar programs like yum as well. PS use "yum update" to check periodically to make sure programs are updated on your computer. http://ProgInst.TV -- Any mobile phone http://Courses.ProgrammersInstitute.com - Courses http://VideoMindMeld.com - Videos by Category http://MyFireEngine.com - New Android App
