SSIS Tutorial Part 60-Perform Upsert (Update/Insert SCD1) by Lookup Transformation in SSIS Package

23:07
SSIS Tutorial Scenario: Let's say we have to load a dimension table from text file. Our business Key is SSN. We need to insert new records depending upon values of SSN column, If any new then we need to insert this records. If SSN already existing in Table then we need to find out if any other column is changed from Source columns values. If that is true then we have to update those values. What we will learn in this video How to Read the data from Flat file in SSIS Package How to perform Lookup to Find out Existing or Non Existing Records in Destination Table From Source How to Insert new Records by using OLE DB Destination How to update existing Records by using OLE DB Command Transformation in SSIS Package Link to the blog post for this video with script if used http://sqlage.blogspot.com/2015/05/perform-upsert-updateinsert-scd1-by.html Check out our Full Step by Step SQL Server Integration Services(SSIS) Tutorial http://www.techbrothersit.com/2014/12/ssis-videos.html

Oracle SQL Tutorial 13 - How to Add Column Constraints (Attributes)

05:55
So far, we have this table declaration: CREATE TABLE users( user_id NUMBER, username VARCHAR(50 CHAR) first_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR), last_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) ) We can run this command see that it works. As we are learning though, we are going to want to be able to recreate our table with different settings and such, but if you try to run this command, it will complain that the table already exists. So we first need to delete this table before we start editing settings. When we get more experienced, we will learn about ways to edit the structure of a table that already exists. To fix this, we can get rid of the table using the DROP TABLE command: DROP TABLE users You can run this every time if you need to practice by adding a semicolon after it. This is how you can tell Oracle that you are putting in another command after it. This is known as a delimiter. When you run the script, it is going to run both commands. Now we can go through and reconsider our table structure. This is fine for starting out because we don't have any important data in our database, but once your database is in production you are not going to want to just drop tables. In the last video we discussed different constraints that you can apply to columns in a database table, but how do you actually apply these when you are creating a table? The first way you define constraints is to put them right after the column in your CREATE TABLE statement. CREATE TABLE users( username VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL ) When we define constraints this way, we usually say we are adding column attributes. If you have two constraints you want to add, you just put one after the other with spaces in between. There is no particular order that is required. CREATE TABLE users( username VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL UNIQUE ) In this situation we have already given the column the NOT NULL and UNIQUE attributes, so we should consider making this a primary key: CREATE TABLE users( username VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) PRIMARY KEY ) As you can see, adding column attributes is super easy. We can add a default like this: CREATE TABLE users( username VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) PRIMARY KEY, account_balance NUMBER DEFAULT 0 ) Note that now we need the comma after the first row. There are a few constraints we did not talk go through an example, specifically foreign keys and check constraints. We will be adding these constraints to our database in future videos. In the mean time, I have a thought for you… Many people prefer to name their column constraints. That way, we can refer to certain constraints by name. For example, we might have a primary key constraint that could be named users_pk. The way we are creating these constraints does not allow for this feature, so in the next video we are going to be discussing different ways to create constraints. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Support me on Patreon! http://www.patreon.com/calebcurry Subscribe to my newsletter: http://bit.ly/JoinCCNewsletter Donate!: http://bit.ly/DonateCTVM2. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Additional Links~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More content: http://CalebCurry.com Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/CalebTheVideoMaker Google+: https://plus.google.com/+CalebTheVideoMaker2 Twitter: http://twitter.com/calebCurry Amazing Web Hosting - http://bit.ly/ccbluehost (The best web hosting for a cheap price!)

SQL script to insert into many to many table

This means a given student can be enrolled into many courses and a given course can have many students enrolled. Below is the question asked in an interview for SQL Server Developer role. Write a SQL script to insert data into StudentCourses table. Here are the rules that your script should follow. 1. There will be 2 inputs for the script Student Name - The name of the student who wants to enroll into a course Course Name - The name of the course the student wants to enroll into 2. If the student is already in the Students table, then use that existing Student Id. If the student is not already in the Students table, then a row for that student must be inserted into the Students table, and use that new student id. 3. Along the same lines, if the course is already in the Courses table, then use that existing Course Id. If the course is not already in the Courses table, then a row for that course must be inserted into the Courses table, and use that new course id. 4. There should be no duplicate student course enrollments, i.e a given student must not be enrolled in the same course twice. For example, Tom must not be enrolled in C# course twice. Answer : To avoid duplicate student course enrollments create a composite primary key on StudentId and CourseId columns in StudentCourses table. With this composite primary key in place, if someone tries to enroll the same student in the same course again we get violation of primary key constraint error. Alter table StudentCourses Add Constraint PK_StudentCourses Primary Key Clustered (CourseId, StudentId) Here is the SQL script that inserts data into the 3 tables as expected Declare @StudentName nvarchar(50) = 'Sam' Declare @CourseName nvarchar(50) = 'SQL Server' Declare @StudentId int Declare @CourseId int -- If the student already exists, use the existing student ID Select @StudentId = Id from Students where StudentName = @StudentName -- If the course already exists, use the existing course ID Select @CourseId = Id from Courses where CourseName = @CourseName -- If the student does not exist in the Students table If (@StudentId is null) Begin -- Insert the student Insert into Students values(@StudentName) -- Get the Id of the student Select @StudentId = SCOPE_IDENTITY() End -- If the course does not exist in the Courses table If (@CourseId is null) Begin -- Insert the course Insert into Courses values(@CourseName) -- Get the Id of the course Select @CourseId = SCOPE_IDENTITY() End -- Insert StudentId & CourseId in StudentCourses table Insert into StudentCourses values(@StudentId, @CourseId) If required, we can very easily convert this into a stored procedure as shown below. Create procedure spInsertIntoStudentCourses @StudentName nvarchar(50), @CourseName nvarchar(50) as Begin Declare @StudentId int Declare @CourseId int Select @StudentId = Id from Students where StudentName = @StudentName Select @CourseId = Id from Courses where CourseName = @CourseName If (@StudentId is null) Begin Insert into Students values(@StudentName) Select @StudentId = SCOPE_IDENTITY() End If (@CourseId is null) Begin Insert into Courses values(@CourseName) Select @CourseId = SCOPE_IDENTITY() End Insert into StudentCourses values(@StudentId, @CourseId) End Use the following statement to execute the stored procedure Execute spInsertIntoStudentCourses 'Tom','C#'

Oracle EMPTY_BLOB Function

01:58
https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-lob-functions/ The Oracle EMPTY_BLOB function is used to initialise a LOB column to an empty value. You can use it in an INSERT statement, an UPDATE statement, or with a variable in PL/SQL. The syntax of the EMPTY_BLOB function is: EMPTY_BLOB That’s it - no parameters. Why would you set a BLOB value to empty? It means you have initialised it but not given it a value. It’s good to know this function exists if you ever need to use it. For more information about the Oracle EMPTY_BLOB function, including all of the SQL shown in this video and the examples, read the related article here: https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-lob-functions/

Update and Insert data in database from datagridview

07:27
Connect with me On LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bhubanshrestha Sometime user needs to update large amount of data in such case updating data from datagrid view is good choice because user gets all information in a row format. In this video tutorial you will learn how to update database table from datagrid view. You can insert, upadate and delete data of database from datagrid view. In this video tutorial deleting is not shown but it is very simple. Just select row then update. NOTE You have to include primary key column in data grid view. If you want to hide primary key column to user then you can achieve this by datagridview1.Columns[0].Visible=false ;//0 is the index of primary key column OR datagridview1.Columns["PrimaryKey"].Visible=false; //PrimaryKey is a column header text of primary key.

How to Resolve Oracle SQL Parent Key Not Found (ORA-02291)

05:49
In this video, we’ll explain what the ORA-02291 “parent key not found” error is, see an example, and look at how to resolve it. This error usually happens when we try to insert data into a table. It looks like this: Error is: ORA-02291: integrity constraint (constraint_name) violated - parent key not found So what does this error mean? It means we’re trying to insert data into a child table, and there is no related record in the parent table. If a foreign key has been set up to enforce this relationship, there needs to be a parent to insert a child that refers to it. Watch the video to see an example of this error as well as how to resolve it. For more information on Oracle SQL, refer to the Database Star website here: https://www.databasestar.com/

Oracle SQL Tutorial 15 - How to Add Primary Key Constraints

02:54
The goal of this video is to take the CREATE TABLE statement we have and walk through the different ways to create primary keys. This and foreign keys are the most common constraints, so we need to make sure that you have this one down. Once we have a more complex database design with multiple tables, we will learn the proper way to create foreign keys. For now, I am going to keep all of our constraints at the column level, unnamed. The only exception is the primary key, because that is what we are focusing on in this video. The first way to create the primary key is at the column level, unnamed. The primary key is very important because it what we use to distinguish rows from one another. Every table you create is going to need a primary key, and I suggest putting a lot of effort into making sure your keys are set up correctly and organized. --Delete the table if needed: DROP TABLE users; CREATE TABLE users( user_id NUMBER PRIMARY KEY, username VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL UNIQUE ) The next way is at the column level, but named: --Delete the table: DROP TABLE users; CREATE TABLE users( user_id NUMBER CONSTRAINT users_pk PRIMARY KEY, username VARCHAR2(50 CHAR)NOT NULL UNIQUE ) The general naming convention here is the table name followed by an underscore, followed by pk for primary key. Finally, the third way, which is at the table level, is the way we are going to create our primary key: --Delete the table: DROP TABLE users; CREATE TABLE users( user_id NUMBER, username VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL UNIQUE, CONSTRAINT users_pk PRIMARY KEY (user_id) ) Now, once you've created these constraints, you can use Oracle SQL Developer to find these constraints. Open your databases in the connections tab and find the table in the Tables folder. Double click your table and travel to the Constraints tab. You can tell here that the UNIQUE constraint still exists in this table, but it has a pretty disgusting name. It kind of wants to make me puke. Referencing that constraint in the future with that wacky name would be a burden. Engrave these three options in your head so that you can use any of them whenever you need and can read other peoples' code. Thank you for sticking with the series thus far. In the next video, we will be…doing something. See you then! :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Support me on Patreon! http://www.patreon.com/calebcurry Subscribe to my newsletter: http://bit.ly/JoinCCNewsletter Donate!: http://bit.ly/DonateCTVM2. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Additional Links~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More content: http://CalebCurry.com Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/CalebTheVideoMaker Google+: https://plus.google.com/+CalebTheVideoMaker2 Twitter: http://twitter.com/calebCurry Amazing Web Hosting - http://bit.ly/ccbluehost (The best web hosting for a cheap price!)

We can also say that SQL tables are kind of data structure which are used by database for efficient storage of data. To create a table in our database we use SQL CREATE TABLE command. SQL CREATE TABLE is a type of DATA DEFINITION LANGUAGE also known as DDL. To Create a table in your schema you will require CREATE TABLE system privilege. In our future videos we will see what are system and object privileges and how to grant them to a user. Today for this video we will be using Sample schema HR which already has all the necessary privileges. Ohk Let's see the syntax. CREATE TABLE table name ( column name1 Data-Type(size), column name2 Data-Type(size), ..... ); CREATE TABLE is an oracle reserved word or say an Oracle key word whereas There are 3 different ways of creating a table in Oracle database. Creating a table using Command Line Interface (CLI) in Oracle database For demonstrating how to create table in oracle database using CLI, I'll be using Command prompt. Thats how we create table using command prompt. you can check your table structure by DESCRIBE command for that just write DESC and your table name. Like this Another way of creating a table is by using Graphic user interface (GUI) in Oracle database To demonstrate how to create table using GUI we will use SQL developer. Lets open our SQL developer I am connected to HR schema if you do not know how to create a connection to database using SQL developer please watch my oracle database tutorial 4 that explains database connectivity using SQL developer and command prompt. Link for this video is in the description below. So lets create a table. Creating a table using SQL developer is very easy we do not have to fire any query here. Let's start First of all right click on your connection in which you want to create a table and choose schema browser. This will open a separate schema browser pane or you can expend your connection by clicking this + sign and then right click on table and choose New Table. However I prefer working with schema browser so let's skip to schema browser pane here from the first drop-down list you can choose connection name and in the second drop down list you can choose what database objects you want to work with we want to create a table thus I'll choose table and then click this arrow here and choose option for new table Ok we have created a table wizard first of all give a unique name to your table and add some column as well. For this, click the green plus button. Now we already have a column so give it some name. Also choose a datatype from the list and specify any size you can check this not null column if in case you want to make this a mandatory column you can also specify default value and constraint If you want to make this column a primary key you can click here In my future video i'll show you what are these constraints and different ways of applying them on a column in a table. for this video we will concentrate on create table only so when you are done with all your columns click ok Thats your table You can double click on your table here and can see its structure. Thats it

Oracle SQL Tutorial 16 - Parent Child Relationships

06:09
So far in this series we have discussed database design, creating tables, and constraints. We've brought up the concept of foreign keys, but we have not explained how to create them. That is the goal of this video and the upcoming videos. We want to study those foreign keys! Let's make them not so foreign. Let's learn the proper way to define a foreign key. As a reminder, a foreign key is a column that references a column of another table. The column it references must either be a primary key, or have the UNIQUE constraint. This means that every value inside of the column that is labeled as a foreign key, there must be that value in some row of the referenced column. As an example, imagine that we have the users table, and we have a table service_requests. We could have a column in the service_request that references a column in the users table. Usually this would be the primary key that is referenced, but there is nothing stopping you from referencing a unique column. Just for fun, let's go through an example using the username column. If we have a service_requests table, every single row within the table is going to be what some would consider an instance of a service_request. This means that the table columns are like the blueprint for what a service request looks like and then each row is an individual service request. If we have one of the columns labeled as a foreign key to the username of the users table, what does that mean practically? It means that for a single row, the value for that column must be a value that exists in the users table. We could have a service_request submitted by a user with the username of Yoloswagman. This means that there must be a row inside of the users table that has the value Yoloswagman for the username column. This brings up the concept of parent and child relationships. Yoloswagman in this situation is the parent, and his service request is the child. When we draw it out, it makes sense why a primary key must be UNIQUE. If we had two Yoloswagmans, the child would not know which column is the parent. The same applies if we were using IDs and we had So remember, always reference a primary key or a column with the UNIQUE constraint. Now, I have a question for you. Do foreign keys automatically have the UNIQUE constraint, just like primary keys? The answer is no. A parent row can have many child rows. It makes sense because the user could submit multiple service requests. Can we force the column to be unique? Absolutely. If that was the case, the user could only make one service request. Another question. Do foreign keys automatically have the NOT NULL constraint, just like primary keys? The answer is no. Essentially what this means is that a child could be created with no parent. Can we force the column to be NOT NULL? Absolutely. It is ok in some situations to allow the row to be null, but in this situation it makes no sense. It would be wise for us to add that constraint ourselves. So now that you understand some more differences between primary and foreign keys and parent child relationships, take all of these questions into consideration when you are creating foreign keys. In the next video, we are going to start a small project that is going to require multiple tables. We'll take a video to design our structure and then we'll get to creating those foreign keys in Oracle SQL Developer. Although SQL is an ANSI (American National Standards Institute) standard, there are different versions of the SQL language. However, to be compliant with the ANSI standard, they all support at least the major commands (such as SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE, INSERT, WHERE) in a similar manner. Using SQL in Your Web Site To build a web site that shows data from a database, you will need: An RDBMS database program (i.e. MS Access, SQL Server, MySQL) To use a server-side scripting language, like PHP or ASP To use SQL to get the data you want To use HTML / CSS. GridView insert update delete in asp.net - Part 23

23:47
Link for csharp, asp.net, ado.net, dotnet basics and sql server video tutorial playlists http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists Link for text version of this video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2013/03/gridview-insert-update-delete-in-aspnet.html In this video we will discuss about performing an insert, update and delete on asp.net gridview control using sqldatasource. We will be using tblEmployee table for this demo. SQL script to create and populate this table with sample data is available in Part 13 of asp.net gridview tutorial. Create an asp.net web application. Drag and drop a gridview and a sqldatasource control on WebForm1.aspx. Configure "SqlDataSource1" control 1. Right click on "SqlDataSource1" control and select "Show Smart Tag" 2. Now click on "Configure Data Source" link 3. Select connection string, from the dropdownlist on "Choose your data connection" screen. You need to have a connection string specified in web.config file. 4. Click Next 5. On "Configure the Select Statement" screen, select "tblEmployee" table from dropdownlist. 6. Click on "Advanced" button 7. Select "Generate INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE statements" checkbox and click OK 8. Click Next and Finish Drag and drop gridview control on WebForm1.aspx. Now let us associate "SqlDataSource1" control with "GridView1" control 1. Right click on "GridView1" control and select "Show Smart Tag" 2. Select "SqlDataSource1" from "Choose Data Source" dropdownlist 3. Select "Enable Deleting" and "Enable Editing" checkboxes. At this point "Delete" and "Edit" buttons should appear on the gridview control. We will be using gridview control's footer for inserting a new record. Set "ShowFooter" property of the GridView1 control to "true". This can be done from the properties window, or in the HTML. By default GridView control has generated bound fields to display EmployeeId, Name, Gender and City columns. We need to convert these bound fields into template fields. This can be done very easily using the designer. 1. On the "GridView Tasks" pane click on "Edit Columns" link button. 2. Select "EmployeeId" from "Selected Fields" section and click on "Convert this field into a template field" link 3. Do the same for Name, Gender and City Now modify the template fields in the HTML. Please note 1. In every TemplateField, along with EditItemTemplate and ItemTemplate, we also need FooterTemplate. 2. A dropdownlist is used in EditItemTemplate and FooterTemplate of "Gender" template field, instead of a textbox control. 3. To validate data during edit and insert operations, notice that, we are using validation controls, in EditItemTemplate and FooterTemplate. 4. A linkbutton is used in the footer template of "EmployeeId" template field, to enable the user to insert a new employee row 5. We have used ValidationGroup="Insert" for all the validation controls in FooterTemplates. LinkButton's ValidationGroup is aslo set to "Insert", so that all the validation controls in in FooterTemplates are fired only on Insert LinkButton click. 6. We have set LinkButton's OnClick="lbInsert_Click". 7. After the closing tag of GridView, notice that we are using 2 validationsummary controls, to display all the validation messages in one place. ValidationSummary1 control's ValidationGroup is set to "Insert". ValidationSummary1 control displays all insert related validation errors, and edit related validation errors are displayed using ValidationSummary2 control. Finally copy and paste the following event handler method in WebForm1.aspx.cs protected void lbInsert_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { SqlDataSource1.InsertParameters["Name"].DefaultValue = ((TextBox)GridView1.FooterRow.FindControl("txtName")).Text; SqlDataSource1.InsertParameters["Gender"].DefaultValue = ((DropDownList)GridView1.FooterRow.FindControl("ddlGender")).SelectedValue; SqlDataSource1.InsertParameters["City"].DefaultValue = ((TextBox)GridView1.FooterRow.FindControl("txtCity")).Text; SqlDataSource1.Insert(); }

Importing Data from Excel into Oracle Database using SQL Developer 4.1

02:23
One of SQL Developer’s most popular features has undergone a significant upgrade. Users can quickly define and recall delimited or Excel files to be imported to a new or existing Oracle table. Data preview and validation is provided for each column, as well as ‘best guess’ data type and date format mask mapping. This process can now be automated via the SQL Developer command line interface (SDCLI) ‘Import’ command. NOTE: This is a video only. There is no audio. Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. How to INSERT data into table in MySQL?

02:44
MySQL INSERT MySQL INSERT statement is used to insert data in MySQL table within the database. We can insert single or multiple records using a single query in MySQL. Syntax: The SQL INSERT INTO command is used to insert data in MySQL table. Following is a generic syntax: INSERTINTO table_name ( field1, field2,...fieldN ) VALUES ( value1, value2,...valueN ); Field name is optional. If you want to specify partial values, field name is mandatory.Syntax for all fields: INSERTINTO table_name VALUES ( value1, value2,...valueN ); Example 1: for all fields If you have to store all the field values, either specify all field name or don't specify any field. Example: INSERTINTO emp Subscribe channel on YouTube:- https://www.youtube.com/c/ipctrd/videos Read this post on Blogger:- http://ipctrd.blogspot.in/ Like page on Facebook:- https://www.facebook.com/ipctrd/ Tweet about video on twitter:- https://twitter.com/ipctrd Let's chat on whatsapp:- https://chat.whatsapp.com/BrHbRDvbfs64CulIoLfbjf See you at Instagram :- https://www.instagram.com/ipctrd/ Google+ :- https://plus.google.com/u/0/101013097390807587448

Oracle SQL PLSQL 12C Tutorial 8 SELECT Command , Fetch Data from Table

09:41
This Video Tutorial Will Describe how to select or retrieve values or data into a table in oracle 12C version. This command will also work on other versions of database like Oracle 11g Database, Oracle 10g Database, Oracle 9i Database, Oracle 8i Database, Oracle 8 Database and so on. Whenever you create a new table in oracle, you need to insert some data into that table otherwise that table is not usable. Example to select data, to update data and delete data, you first need to insert some data. Then this part comes where you select the data from the table. Full Syntax will be given in this video tutorial about how to select records from oracle database table. Along with the live example to select records. All the keywords, format, mandatory clauses etc are described in this video.
