"One foot in sea, one on shore"

01:33
Fan video for the 1976 film Rusalochka to "Sigh No More" by Mumford and Sons. In the film's prologue, the storyteller (Valentin Nikulin) portrays the young girl he sits beside as the mermaid (Vikoriya Novikova) and the young man she stares at sitting across from them as the prince (Yuri Senkevich). Falling in love with his own heroine, he inserts himself into the fairy tale to aid her. I own nothing. please do not sue me.

10 Sea Monsters ATTACKING A Boat!

12:03
Check out these 10 sea monsters attacking a boat! This top 10 list of ocean creatures like whales and great white sharks attacking a ship shows some bizarre stories caught on camera! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "MYSTERIOUS Creatures Living At The BOTTOM Of The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/Efhjc-Gu508 Watch our "SECRETS Casinos DON'T Want You To Find Out!" video here: https://youtu.be/hAoABuvzOZM Watch our "RAREST And Most EXPENSIVE Cars In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/MtCnWSqqilg 10. Great White Shark If you’ve been on a boat out on the ocean, a Jaws attack has probably crossed your mind. Even if it’s just barely!! Then of course you rationalize that the chances of that happening are practically 0. Practically. That’s what Terry Selwood, a 73-year-old Australian fisherman learned in 2017, when a great white shark leapt out of the water, into his boat!! 9. An Eagle Ray Rays seem like beautiful, serene creatures - but they can be extremely dangerous, even if you’re on the relative safety of a large tourist boat. In 2011, Jenny Hausch had rented a 26-foot catamaran for her family to take a trip in Florida. Sounds really nice right? 8. Swordfish In 2017, Alan Pope, a British tourist, was on a boat trip getting ready to go snorkeling in Indonesia when everything went horribly wrong. Without any warning, a swordfish jumped out of the water and into the boat, and impaled his neck with its bill. The end snapped off, and left six inches of the sword still jabbed inside his neck, just millimeters from instantly killing him. 7. Sperm Whales The Gulf of Alaska is a prime fishing location, especially for those trying to catch black cod. In these waters, though, there is a much larger creature that also likes eating the fish- sperm whales. They are the ocean’s largest toothed predators, and while they are quite capable of catching food for themselves, they much prefer taking the easy route. 6. Giant Squid Mostly creatures of legend, giant squids are mentioned in many old mariners tales of dangers at sea. But they are rarely seen, let alone involved in attacking boats. So when a team of French sailors came face to face with one in 2003, they almost didn’t believe it!! 5. Bull Shark You might think that a great white shark would be the most problematic shark species to boats, but there’s another type that can be more aggressive, and more likely to risk an encounter. 4. Jellyfish Sometimes it’s the smallest things that can have the biggest effect, something that became ever so apparent in 2017 when Chinese scientists were investigating why their aircraft carriers were experiencing difficulties. They found that large swarms of Jellyfish were getting caught up in the propulsion systems! This would stop the ships dead in their tracks, or cause the engines to overheat and cause extreme damage. 3. Mako Shark This next story took place just last year, 2017 in Long Island, New York. A fishing charter boat was taking guests to the location where they find the widest variety of fish, when suddenly a Mako shark jumped onto the side of the boat. Unfortunately for the fish, it managed to get itself stuck in the handrail of the boat and, despite thrashing about, it couldn’t free itself. 2. Black Marlin Game fishing is a popular pastime for many enthusiasts, but when you’re chasing after some of the largest and most powerful marine creatures on earth, you have to be ready for the unpredictable. Again last year, things went very wrong indeed for a fishing boat off the coast of Panama. They had caught a black marlin, a species that can weight up to 1500 pounds and reach speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. 1. Killer Whale If you’ve ever watched a nature documentary that’s featured Killer Whales, you’ll be all too familiar how organised and clever they can be. Pods work together to catch prey, and even tilt ice flows to trap seals. When they turn these skills towards human activity, the results can be frightening. 26-foot-long sea worm discovered by divers off New Zealand coast | New York Post

01:12
Two divers came across a spectacular site while swimming off the coast of New Zealand. They discovered a giant creature, likely a pyrosome, gently floating in the waters. While these floating colonies of zooids have been known to get caught in fishing nets, a specimen this large is an uncommon site. Top 8 Deadliest Sea Creatures

10:55
Sea creatures that you don't want to encounter! When swimming in the world's biggest oceans, you should make sure to stay away from these sea creatures! Support our Patreon today: https://www.patreon.com/theywillkillyou Subscribe for new videos: http://goo.gl/SaufF4 Follow us on Instagram: @theywillkillyou Voiceover by Carl Mason: [email protected] Number 8 Stonefish They seamlessly blend with their environment, which mainly consists of rocks or coral formations. These creatures can also live out of water for about 24 hours which is why stings may occur on beaches as well. Number 7 Whale 18th century Basque whalers gave them this name after observing pods of orcas hunting baleen whales. In 70, AD, Pliny the Elder called them ‘an enormous mass of savage flesh with teeth’. It’s why they’re a sought-after addition to water parks around the world. Despite their ferocious reputation, wild orcas aren’t considered a threat to humans, which is why they don’t rank higher on our list. In the wild, orcas are the only creatures known to successfully take on great white sharks. The size, speed and strength of an individual orca combined with the coordinated manner in which a pod hunts, makes this animal the true apex predator of the world’s oceans. Number 6 Dubois’ Sea Snake However, for many people, the last place they’d expect to worry about these creatures is in the ocean. Aipysurus duboisii, also known as Dubois’ sea snake brazenly defies these expectations. Found in various coastal areas off Australia, New Caledonia and Papua New Guinea. It is adapted to living in coral reefs, at depths of up to 262 feet. It can measure almost 5ft in length and its fangs are about 2 mm long. The bite isn’t considered strong enough to pierce through a wet suit. Number 5 Flower Urchin In 2014, this echinoderm was described by the Guinness Book of Records as the most dangerous sea urchin in existence. Number 4 Cone Snail Don’t be fooled by their shells, which feature fascinating, vividly-colored patterns. Often compared to a harpoon or a dart, this barbed tooth can extend some distance from the snail’s head. Number 3 Blue-Ringed Octopus Found in the coral reefs of the Indian and Pacific oceans. When it feels threatened, the octopus’ yellow skin and eponymous blue rings become more vivid and almost appear to shimmer. Their tiny bites are often painless and most people don’t realize they’ve been bitten. Number 2 Box Jellyfish The box jellyfish gets its name from its cube-shaped body and there is one species called chironex fleckeri, also known as the sea wasp. Its tentacles can measure up to 10 feet in length. Number 1 Great White Shark Sharks are among the most feared creatures in the sea and one species rises above all other when it comes to ferocity. Popularized by Steven Spielberg’s ‘Jaws’, the great white shark has incredible predatory adaptations which earn it the number one spot on our list. An apex predator, the great white can reach a length of up to 20 feet and a weight of over 4,000 pounds. It can swim at over 35 miles per hour and at crushing depths of nearly 4,000 feet. It has rows of serrated teeth behind the main teeth, ready to replace any that break off. This creature also has an incredible sense of smell that is hundreds of times more developed than that of human beings. The great white also has special organs called Ampullae of Lorenzini which enable it to detect the electromagnetic field emitted by the movement of living animals with incredible precision. It can sense variations of half a billionth of a volt. This basically means that, at close range, the great white can detect the heartbeat of its prey, even if it isn’t moving.

Study Says We Could See 10 FOOT Sea Level Rise This Century From Climate Change

03:51
According to an alarming new study, the rate at which Antarctic sea ice is melting is growing exponentially, and as a result, we can expect sea level rises of up to 10 feet within the next century if we stay on this current trajectory. The oceans are warming faster than scientists had predicted and we are running out of time to address the greatest global crisis in our history. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains what’s happening and what needs to happen to prevent catastrophe.   Link – https://thinkprogress.org/new-study-antarctic-ice-loss-10-foot-sea-level-rise-49c7c8614848/ Link - https://www.commondreams.org/news/2019/01/16/studies-show-ice-melting-and-ocean-warming-both-happening-much-faster-previously Become a member today!: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYWIEbibRcZav6xMLo9qWWw/join Support us by becoming a monthly patron on Patreon, and help keep progressive media alive!: https://www.patreon.com/TheRingofFire Spread the word! In the last few months, we have had some pretty horrible studies come out showing just how little time we have left to fix the planet before we face some of the most catastrophic impacts of climate change. Well, adding onto that list of absolutely terrifying stories and studies that have come out is a new one showing that within the next century, actually by the end of this century, we could see sea level rise of up to 10 feet globally thanks to the rapidly accelerating melting of Antarctic ice cap, specifically the West Antarctic ice sheet. It's unstable. It is collapsing and it is melting is what this new study tells us, but it also tells us, oh, it's melting a little bit faster than we had predicted it would, and by the end of this century, if it melts the way it is now, if it stays constant, not even if it accelerates, but if it just stays constant. 10 foot sea level rise across the globe, 10 feet. To put that into perspective, a six foot sea level rise would put the entire tip of Florida for a good one, hundred and 50 miles from tip inland. That would all be underwater. Now. Those parts of Florida would be gone forever with just a six foot sea level rise at two foot sea level rise would destroy most of the barrier islands throughout the Gulf coast and some along the Atlantic coast to fleet, and yet we could be looking at 10 foot sea level rises within our lifetime if things stay constant, and that's the key because we have the opportunity right now to not stay constant. We have the opportunity right now to reverse course. There is still time. That clock is ticking faster and faster every day, but there's still time we could get off fossil fuels, we could be investing in renewable energy sources and infrastructure to carry that. The technology exists. We're just not using it and that's what's the most frustrating about all this. It's there. We're just not doing it and we have an administration right now that's doubling down on fossil fuels, cutting subsidies and renewable energy programs all together in order to burn more coal in order to rely more on fracked gas and conventional oil, so we're not reversing course. We're going head on into the same fuel sources that have caused this problem to begin with. I say there's still time. Me Personally, do I think as a, as a race, as a planet, as a country, are we going to do it? No. I have zero faith. I have no faith at all. I do not think it's going to happen. I think instead we're going to have to live with a world destroyed by climate change. Now, maybe that's just me, but we've seen how human beings are. We've seen how politics is. If you can look at all that and tell me you actually have faith in us as a, as a species to do something about this, then you're much more optimistic than I am. I don't want to sound gloom and doom. I don't want to say like, we're all screwed. We're all going to die, but I don't have faith in people anymore and I sure as hell don't have faith in our institutions to do what is necessary to fix this problem.

Sea creature mystery: Diver encounters 30-foot pyrosome

00:38
Credit: Pen News/Ben Laurie THIS is the shocking moment a diver comes face to face with a mysterious 30-foot sea serpent that’s been compared to a giant condom. Ben Laurie, 21, encountered the bizarre creature while diving near Cape Brett on New Zealand’s North Island. “We were diving there for kingfish and we had plugged a couple, and then we were coming up from one of the dives when my friend saw this thing,” said Ben. “It did look almost like a big condom. It was 10 metres long and almost half a metre wide, and it was just flowing with the tide,” he added. Ben, who has years of experience in the water and is an ambassador for the WildBlue dive shop, said he had seen nothing like it. “I didn’t know what it was at the time, so it was quite a confusing thing,” he said. “We get these little like plankton build-ups – they’re like small stringy things but they’re only like 20cm long – so I thought it was just a large one of them. “But one of the guys touched it and said it wasn’t soft at all, it was more like a cardboard sort of texture.” In fact, the creature is believed to be a pyrosome – a floating colony comprising billions of sea squirts. It feeds by filtering microscopic plant cells out of the sea, with each squirt drawing in water from outside the pyrosome and then releasing the filtered water inside the colony. “Apparently they only come from depths of 2,000 metres, so it’s quite rare for them to be up in the shallows like that,” said Ben, from Kerikeri. “It must have been sick or something. “Once it gets a bit too high, because it’s got more of a softer texture, the fish seem to eat it, so that’s why it stays deep.” In any case, Ben knows he was lucky to make such a unique sighting. “A scientist said it’s pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime rare thing to see,” said Ben. Surf landing a sea kayak in one foot of surf!

00:20
In a small amount of surf this technique can be used. I am using the outrigger style of exiting using the paddle behind the cockpit to stabilize the kayak. My paddle is a strong, straight shaft Werner paddle. I make sure that I am not between the shore and the kayak. This movement should be practiced first with an experienced instructor - trying it will be at your own risk as it can have complications!

Incredible Shipping Container Home By The Sea Is A Small Space Marvel

19:37
After spending it’s life on the open ocean, this shipping container landed on the shores of New Zealand where it was transformed into a spectacular home for a dynamic young couple. After living in the container home for three years, a new addition to the family inspired a renovation project which saw the tiny house transform into a family home. Support our show: https://www.patreon.com/livingbig Kim and James have done an incredible job with the design and build of their container home. Completely council consented, they constructed their home from a 40ft shipping container which was chopped down to 30ft to be able to fit onto the section and fit in with local regulations. Around the container home, they have constructed a large deck and a wonderful outdoor living area. Read more: https://www.livingbiginatinyhouse.com/incredible-shipping-container-home-by-the-sea/ The home is positioned above two 20ft shipping containers, one which acts as storage space and one which functions as a base of operations for the couple’s company, a t-shirt design and printing business. Ultimately here, James and Kim have created a spectacular work / home balance thanks to some very clever small space design. Kim is also an author who has recently published a children’s book about an architect deigning a tiny house.
