If you ever get asked this question, I want you to know exactly what to say. After watching this video, you will be able to not only convince the person asking, but blow them away with what you answer. So in this video, I will break down what to say when someone asks you to sell a pen, so you will be able to create a jaw dropping scene and crush any sales interview. when they ask this question, they will be able to see how good you are selling any product by your response. Your resume will come in second if you can demonstrate the art of selling, because that’s what it is. An art. There are four sales skills the person asking is looking for when you get asked to sell a pen. The following is the right framework so that you can respond perfectly every time. First, they want to see how well you gather information. Second, how well you respond to information. Third, how you deliver information. And last, how you ask for something, or how you close. You find out how they last used the pen, emphasize the importance of the activity they last used the pen for, sell something bigger than the pen, you know, get emotions involved. Then close it by making an offer he simply can’t decline. What if he says he’s not interested in buying your pen? Move on and realize you’re better off spending your time selling the pen to someone else. So just remember that you’re not selling the pen, but you’re demonstrating how well you can sell a product and if you master the framework and the art of selling. Consult Don't Sell
I want to discuss how to talk to prospects. So many people go out and immediately want to give prospects every fact and figure about the product, compensation plan, company, etc. In my opinion, this strategy is jumping the gun. In order to get someone who is focused on something else to potentially consider what you have, you first have to get them to open their mind a bit. I’ve hear about and used a lot of different techniques to achieve this over the years. The best way I’ve found, is to act like a consultant. If you act like a consultant, instead of a sales person, you’re going to build more trust and have a better conversation. Consultants ask questions to try to figure out the situation, and a key strategy is to talk to people about entrepreneurship – not your product, compensation plan, or company. So, ask them, “Have you ever gone into business for yourself?” Their answer will affect how you go forward. If they say, “No, I haven’t because they’ve never really had a desire,” then they may be employee minded. This is important to figure out up front because you don’t want to push an employee minded person to be an entrepreneur. Of course, you can always ask if they would be interested in becoming entrepreneurial minded, if you gave them a way to do it. They may still not be interested, and that’s fine. They might answer your question with, “No, I haven’t because…” and they list the reasons why they didn’t go into business for themselves like they were too afraid, didn’t have the skills, or not enough money. Well, then you can offer them a solution. Network Marketing has the friendliest environment for a person with an entrepreneurial mindset who has the dream but doesn’t have the vehicle. We can offer them a way with very low risk, flexible time, and all of the business aspects taken care of for them. The might answer with, “Yes, I have tried, and it was a disaster because I didn’t have enough money or time, the product wasn’t good, I didn’t have the skill, etc.” Again, you can offer them the same solutions through Network Marketing. Or they might say, “Yes, I am a current business owner and it’s a disaster.” They feel like the business owns them, and they give you a list of challenges. Network Marketing can be their solution. We offer the ability to let someone else to the heavy lifting, the risk is low, and there are no employees, overhead, or personal guarantees. All of those challenges that come with a tradition small business are not present for a Network Marketer. You can offer them an easier path. So, have this conversation about entrepreneurship with your prospects. I also hope with the content, that everyone will be able to take something away from it as many of the tips I'll give over the course of this series will be applicable to lots of areas of life. Should You Lead with the Product or the Opportunity?
In this week’s video lesson, Eric tackles a very controversial topic in the profession, and that is Should You Lead with the Product or the Opportunity? Many don’t focus on customers, they just focus on recruiting, whereas some focus on gaining customers and not recruiting, and the question Eric gets asked all the time is, “What should the emphasis be?” As Eric explains both work. Both create the same result. Recent studies have been conducted and the results are very interesting. A good percentage that join just for the product, and then a percentage join just for the business. However, 70% of those that joined just for the product changed their opinion about the business and they shift their focus to the business side. And then there are those that came in for the business, but for whatever reason their success with the business has not taken off, and they become more of a product user. So it is about an equal amount. Words of advice from Eric on this topic is to Go Where Your Prospects Are. If they don’t have the entrepreneurial mindset yet, start with the product. Create raving fans! Create customers that are super excited about your product and they love telling people about the product. Don’t overlook the person that is just interested in the product right now because statistics show that many will shift their focus to the business. Now, on the flip side when dealing with people you bring in who were interested in the business, but things haven’t worked out for them on the business side, they might be more comfortable shifting their focus just to being a product user for now as they work on their skills. In conclusion, Eric offers this advice: if someone is scared of the business, let them become a customer and slowly learn about the opportunity. If they want to come in for the big business, bring them in with the business. And if they’re not ready to build right now, the hope is they become a raving fan customer. Talk to people, share your product, share your opportunity, and let them join where they can see themselves being successful, whether it’s with product or with opportunity. Marketing techniques #1: Why are some beauty products or brands always on sale?

Video Notes: These strategies are used across all commercial industries, but we're focusing on the beauty industry here. Clarification: When I say "Physicians Formula is always on sale for 40% off" I don't mean that they are on sale in every moment for 40% off, but that when they go on sale (which is often) it is always for 40% off specifically, not 20% off or 45% off or BOGO1/2 off. The best site I know of to track ongoing drugstore sales (in the US): nouveaucheap.blogspot.com This week's sales: http://nouveaucheap.blogspot.com/2015/02/the-weekly-drugstore-makeup-sales-222.html (note all of the "buy one get one 1/2 off" sales!) Stores that mark down prices dramatically and don't run large sales include: Target, Wal Mart, K Mart (they're borderline iirc), Bed Bath & Beyond (for makeup--they mark up the rest of their merch and give 20% off coupons, but they're an excellent place to buy makeup) If anyone has international sites/blogs to track beauty product sales, post them in the comments and I'll try to keep them out of the spam filter. I was amused to see that drugstore.com takes part in this drugstore permanent sale trend, marking up and rotating its sales just like the brick-and-mortar stores. "But Veronica, what do I do if a product/brand that is often on sale isn't currently on sale?" My advice is if you know a product or brand goes on sale frequently, just wait until the next sale comes around. It probably won't be long. BUT sometimes stores will do even bigger sales in their semi-annual clearances, or holiday promotions, etc. "What about So-and-so brand? I see their products on sale a lot." They are probably using this technique. Just watch how their prices fluctuate. Some brands don't have one consistent discount like Sigma's 15%, but a rotating sale system that discounts different products by 10-20%. If you miss one sale, there will probably be another soon. You can also compare their prices to their competitors, whether the competitors have similar sales or not, etc., to calculate how much the markup is vs. the average discount. "What if a brand using this strategy has a sale that is a bigger discount than their usual discount?" You should take advantage of it if you are interested in their products. Just don't let the pressure of sale time limits sway your judgment too much! Again, some of my favorite brands use this technique (and some of the others we'll be discussing), and it doesn't mean that they're bad or deceitful. Just be a smart buyer! Everyone who has tried these methods has a different take on them of course, and it depends on what types of projects you are making and selling, but hopefully our personal experiences will help others who are interested in selling handmade products. We think one cool thing about selling handmade is you can do it as a full business or as a side hustle, so it's easy to dip your toes into it. We started out doing pop up shops and starting an Etsy page, and these led us to joining the West Elm local program where we started selling wholesale. We'd love to hear others' tips and tricks as well, since we are still learning lots the more we do this. Advanced Facebook Audience Targeting - Pro Tip: How To Narrow Your Audience In Facebook Advertising
Struggling to find the right Facebook audiences that deliver leads and sales through Facebook advertising? If you aren't using this tool, your audiences may be too broad and you may be wasting your ad budget. When your Facebook ads are converting at the level that you want, there are only two potential problems that you're facing. First, you have the wrong audience and usually that's from targeting too broad of an audience. Second, your ad copy / messaging / offer does not resonate with your audience. In this video we are going to look at the "Narrow Your Facebook Audience" tool that is designed to help you drill down deeper into broad audiences on Facebook so you can identify the segments that contain your buyers. Generally, this is accomplished by combining purchase related interests and emotional related interests to find the overlap of people who have made certain purchases based on certain emotional desires and motivations with their Facebook interests. If this sounds a little abstract… That's okay. After all this is an advanced Facebook advertising training video. Now, before you get into this tool… You should have your specific Facebook interests researched already. If you don't have a list of interests that represent your customer avatar, you need to go to the Facebook audience insights tool first to research those interests. The overlap between crowdfunding fans and niche specific product fans hyperfocus is your Facebook advertising to the segment of your audience that has the highest likelihood to convert for you. In this third example combining the lifestyle choice of veganism with the purchasing behavior of blue apron and adding a layer of geo-targeting through Facebook's ads, you are left with a surprisingly large audience of Facebook users who would have a high likelihood of being interested in this kind of a product. That spells success and profits. People are interested and eager to see what you have. They want to take a closer look, and that's a very nice feeling to have as a business owner. How do you generate that kind of interest? How do you create that kind of curiosity in what you do? The Sales Funnel When I worked for a mortgage company, we created what we called, a sales pipeline or sales funnel. We always wanted this funnel to be full with interested clients. Now we all knew not everyone would end up being a buyer, but that wasn't our goal. We just wanted to create the interest and get them in line. Everyone was at a different stage in the buying process, and putting them in the funnel was putting them through that process, which we hoped would end with them walking out the other end, a satisfied customer. I am going to give you a 4 step guide to creating a sales funnel for your business. 1. Create an Interest This is where people will be contacting you, and this happens by you offering something of value to them in return for their contact information. It can be anything from an e-book, newsletter, or a training session, but it has to be something that is worth enough for them to give you their information. 2. Follow Up They've received their free valuable tool, and you have their information...now what? This is where many people fall, and I was one of them. I always felt like the telephone was an 800 pound gorilla. I struggled at picking it up and calling the leads that I had. Remember, they have inquired of you and have shown an interest in your product. This is not a cold call. This is where you gauge where they are going to be placed in the funnel. Are they just gathering information? Do they need your services immediately? Or are they somewhere in between? You will be able to tell right away if they are just kicking the tires or they are really serious prospects. Don't waste your time with the tire kickers; they might just need more time. Concentrate more energy on the genuine serious leads. 3. Feed Prospects Don't completely forget about prospects. Put them in the funnel and gently feed them. Talk to people and learn to listen. Hear what they have to say and find the things that they need and are looking for, and bring them along the pipeline to the place they will turn into a sale and a close. Remember the movie, "ET". Remember when he lead ET to his house by leaving a trail of "Reese peanut-butter candies". (I love Reese's Peanut Butter cups) That is the picture that you need to see, because that is exactly what you want to do with your interested, but not yet convinced, prospects. Continue to feed them valuable content that will move them down the funnel closer to a sale. Set up an auto responder where you can keep in constant communication with them. As you are feeding them value, and communicating regularly, they are also getting to know you. The more they learn about you, the more they will trust you, and people always buy from people they know and trust. There is a way to generate an income from your funnel and help pay your marketing costs. 4. Close the Sale If you have set up your funnel right and your process of sending people through it has been done properly, this will be the easy part. Closing is a process, not an event. These are just four very general steps to getting this all done, and it works. For example: - Ounces or fluid ounces might be an important part of price consideration - Certain features like dimensions or certifications like “Organic” - Compromising quality could look like over-stuffing as well!. Your title should still flow like natural language, not just keyword keyword keyword. Tip #3 - Prioritize Keywords, Then Write Your Copy - Many sellers want to talk about product features and THEN add important keywords after they’ve talked about those features BUT with keywords being as important as they are, you really need to put them first - Lay out which keywords you’re going to use in the listing and THEN build the copy around that - Your keyword research can provide insight into what features your shoppers are interested in as well TIP #4 - Maintaining Phrases is Better for Ranking, But Not Required - Keywords require a delicate balance. There is value in including as many keywords as possible in your listing, but keeping full keyword phrases together will likely mean you could rank better for that phrase (if you’re driving sales). - I.e. if “black felt letter board” is a high volume keyword phrase for your product, keeping it together in the title would improve ranking potential, BUT you can still rank for the phrase if you just had felt letter board in the title and black in a bullet point - Could be beneficial to pick one or two high volume phrases to maintain in order, but it can get difficult to do more than that (end up repeating the same keywords if you try to maintain too many phrases and then you lose out on including other keywords) Tip #5 - More Isn’t Always Better - Many sellers think the longer their bullets are the better, because there’s simply more room to include more features. NOPE. Amazon will allow most listings to upload up to 500 characters per bullet, but there is no value to this for 3 reasons: - No buyer is coming to Amazon to read a novel about your product - - The majority of buyers are not interested in reading paragraphs and paragraphs. They’re most likely take a look at the photos, check the price and skim the bullets to see things like weight, dimensions, if it’s gluten or BPA free, and so on. - If they can’t find that information because it’s buried deep in your bullets, they might move on. Bullets that are too long may get cut off by Amazon’s formatting - If buyers can only see the first bullet and a half because each bullet is 400 characters, you’ve likely already lost customers because they can’t immediately see the information they want. - Our research has found that shorter bullets actually index better than longer bullets. It is virtually impossible to index for every single word in your listing (including words like and, or, for, etc.) so the more fluff you have, the lesser the chance you will index for the keywords you actually want. It’s a simple number/percentage game.

I know this isn't intended, but that's exactly what comes across to your prospects. So rather than being full of confidence and enthusiasm, stop for a minute and think about the other individual. Relax into a real conversation instead of moving into a persuasive strategy or sales pitch. Put yourself in their shoes and invite them to explore along with you whether what you have to offer is a match for them. Others really can distinguish the difference. You're inviting them to see if you might be able to help them solve a problem. This makes for a much better connection right at the beginning, and you'll get that immediate rejection reaction much less. Mistake #3: When someone brings up an objection, try to overcome it You know, one of the reasons cold calling is so difficult is that sometimes you may not be very familiar with the other person and their business. In this video i will be telling you how Small Youtubers (like myself) get free products to review. The two main ways that I have found to be the most successful are 1.) Asking small start-up companies for free products in exchange for a review on my channel, 2.) Free subscription boxes! 1.) Asking small start-up Companies. - look on social media (you can guess the size of a company usually by the amount of followers and posts etc) - check out other Youtubers (with similar amounts of subscribers/views) that are reviewing products. If a company was willing to send them one they might do the same for you! - Go on websites like Amazon or AliExpress and look for products that have little to no reviews, and IF the products interest you, contact the seller. Tell them that you would love to promote their product if they send you one for free. (This is a little harder to do because the people selling the products might not want/care for promotion. Majority of the time they are just sellers not the ones who make the product.) 2.) Free subscription boxes/ samples. - Infulenster : A review website that gives you the opportunity to get free VoxBoxes if you are compatible with that months products and if you are active on their website.
