Northern Tallinn - NOBLESSNER, Seaplane Harbour Lennusadam, Patarei Sea Fortress and Former Prison
Take a small walking tour through the Northern part of Tallinn. The former submarine shipyard Noblessner is the fastest developing, and thus the most interesting, area in Tallinn today. Situated next to the trendy Kalamaja district and the renowned Seaplane Harbour, Noblessner is filled with sounds of drilling and hammering. The old factory halls are waking up to a new life, and the newly built apartment blocks already house more than 200 homes. The most exciting maritime museum in Europe is located in the Seaplane Harbour! About 200 authentic items are on display at the historical seaplane hangar: a submarine called Lembit, a century-old icebreaker Suur Tõll, a seaplane called Short 184, remains of the oldest ship found in Estonia, and much more. Patarei fortress in Tallinn, part of European architectural heritage, is a Classical defensive structure that has retained its stylistic purity. This is a memorial to the victims of communism and fascism, as well as a meaningful symbol of resistance on the part of martyrs of the Republic of Estonia. The construction of Patarei Sea Fortress started under the orders of Nicholas I in 1828. After completion, it began operating as an artillery battery. The premises covering four hectares have had different functions – barracks and a prison. Yangshan City Port. The world’s biggest container port opens new Silk Road for shipping
Yangshan city port is the world’s number one container port and a crucial part of China’s Belt and Road initiative to develop a seamless logistical infrastructure for its goods across the world. Located at the mouth of the Yangtse River outside Shanghai, Yangshan handles more containers than any of its rivals, thanks to the latest technology. RTD gets a tour of the facilities with a port operations assistant, a crane operator and a harbour pilot, and sees what’s involved in maintaining the port’s reputation. To understand what made China’s historic Maritime Silk Road so great and why the country is so keen to revive the spirit of that era in the 21st century, RTD also takes a trip to the Maritime Silk Road Museum in Guangdong province. There, a tenth-century shipwreck, the Nanhai 1, is yielding its valuable cargo’s secrets to archaeologists. Meanwhile, social scientists explain why China believes combining technological innovation and sea trade gives it such an edge. Related: Infrastructure of the Silk Road. Russian Navy Celebrates Day of The Northern Fleet 1st June 2019
Russian Navy Northern Fleet Day 2019 The first day of summer celebrate their feast the sailors of the Northern fleet, the representatives of the "young" and at the same time, the most fearsome of all fleets of the Russian Navy. the Northern fleet of the Navy of Russia can be considered almost independent of the military district on the basis of those forces and means which the SF of the Russian Navy possesses. This is a powerful coastal component of the air force and air defense, submarine forces, naval group. And that's not all. In addition to the force component SF has its naval Museum, the ensemble of song and dance, a wide infrastructure with various components, including training and education. The Commander of the Northern fleet of the Russian Navy in may 2019 is Vice Admiral Alexander Moiseev. Taipei Taiwan Vibrant Goddess of Sea Celebration-Northern Taiwan Mazu Festival
https://www.patreon.com/FarEastAdventureTravel Become a patron of Far East Adventure Travel and get access to exclusive content! Please check out my Patreon page to find out more! The Northern Taiwan Mazu Festival hosts 26 Mazu deities from temples across Northern Taiwan. Mazu is the Goddess of the Sea and one of the most worshipped Gods of Taiwanese Temples. There are Mazu temples all over the world including Australia. I was invited to attend this festival by members of The Provincial City God Temple of Taipei City who are the hosts of this year's event. The National Taiwan Museum where this broadcast takes place was once the site of one of Taipei's most important Mazu Temples of the Qing Dynasty. It was taken down during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan in order to have a site for Taiwan Viceroy’s Office Museum established in 1908. Construction was completed in 1915. When the Republic of China government relocated to Taiwan in 1949 the name was changed to The Taiwan Provincial Museum. Thanks so much for watching the broadcast. Yes I did refer to God money as ghost money, my slip of the tongue from last month’s Ghost Festival.

Exploring Gdańsk. Things to do in the Baltic City.
We spend the day exploring Gdansk, a city in northern Poland near the Baltic sea. We start the day spending a couple of hours at the Museum of the Second World War. We then hit up a restaurant with some of the best Pierogies in the city, Dumpling Mandu. Finally we take a walk through Old Town visiting the Golden Gate, the Long Lane, Long Market and the Green Gate, making our way to the Motława River. Follow our European Tour: https://www.instagram.com/delightfultravellers/ ------------------ SUBSCRIBE! - http://bit.ly/1M4etCO ------------------ GDANSK: A very important port for nearly a thousand years; this city was destroyed in the Second World War, but was later rebuilt and became one of the most amazing destinations in Europe. Indeed, Gdansk has become one of Europe’s most beautiful port cities. Currently, Gdansk has around 460000 inhabitants and is Poland’s largest northern city. Among its many landmarks; the historic city center, museums, and beaches that spread along the coast of the Gulf of Gdansk make it a great destination for summer. The Museum of World War II: The museum grounds cover almost 2.5 acres, while the building covers 26,000 square meters. The building is very pointedly divided into three spheres, which reflect the connection between the past, present, and future: the past — the underground, the present — the square surrounding the building, the future — the leaning tower with the glass façade and ceiling reaching up to 40.5 meters. The tower houses, for instance, a library with a reading room, lecture and conference rooms, and will eventually be home to a café and a restaurant on the top floor with a panorama of Gdańsk. All kayak lovers are invited to 15, Żabi Kruk Street. At that place you can rent a kayak to visit Gdańsk from a slightly different perspective. You may follow one of several routes. Golden Gate: Built in 1612, the Golden Gate was designed by Abraham van den Block, son of the man behind the decoration of the Upland Gate. It's a sort of triumphal arch ornamented with a double-storey colonnade and topped with eight allegorical statues. Long Market The focal point of Długi Targ, the Long Market, is the Neptune Fountain, a bronze statue of the sea god erected in 1549 and converted to a fountain in 1633 and restored in 2011/12. During WWII, this symbol of Gdańsk was dismantled and hidden with many of the city's other treasures. It was only returned to its rightful place in 1954. Green Gate: Długi Targ is flanked from the east by the Green Gate, marking the end of the Royal Way. It was built in the 1560s on the site of a medieval defensive gate and was supposed to be the residence of the kings. ----------------- FOLLOW US • Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/delightfultravellers/ • Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/deltravellers • Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/delightfultravellers/?fref=ts • Website: www.delightfultravellers.com

See the EXTREME BEAUTY of THE NETHERLANDS! (in just one day)
www.adventureViV.com The Netherlands is a BEAUTIFUL country, but instead of reading about it below - just watch the video! We do our best to show you the highlights from our 5+ weeks in "The Low Country". For those of you who want to make this a little more fun, here’s a pop quiz for you: 1) What is adventureViV’s secret tip for Amsterdam? 2) How old was adventureViV when she learned how to ride a bicycle? 3) What is the symbol of the Staverden Estate? 4) Where is the 103 bus going in Madurodam? 5) Which shipping company does the creeper in Rotterdam work for? *Answer in the comments below for a custom adventureViV postcard!* Groningen: Groningen is a charming student city in the Northern Netherlands and the perfect base for visiting the Netherlands’ barrier islands. Schiermonnikoog: Due to the influence of the tides and its location between the Wadden Sea and the North Sea, the island has a climate that is different from that of the mainland. Schiermonnikoog is characterized by diverse landscapes including beaches, dunes, forests, tidal marshes, lakes and tidal flats. Amsterdam: Visit the world-famous 17th century capital of Holland. Go for a boat tour on the canals, and stroll through Vondelpark. Amsterdam’s oldest houses, are a national treasure. Many of these stunning examples of architecture, found around the city’s Canal Ring, date back to the Dutch Golden Age when a building tax was calculated by the width of a property’s façade. Dokkum: You don't even have to close your eyes to feel like you've gone back a few centuries!  Burum: In this tiny town, you will find Windlust, a smock mill which was officially reopened in 2014 on Nationale Molendag - yes, the Dutch celebrate a National Mills Day. Naarden: Naarden is an example of a Spanish star fort, complete with fortified walls and a moat. Staverden: Staverden received its city rights in 1298 from the German King Rudolph but has never really become a true city. Staverden is officially the smallest city in the Netherlands. The Hague: The Hague is the heart of Dutch politics where you will find beautiful museums filled with Dutch masterpieces. Visit the historic Binnenhof, or admire Vermeer's 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' at the Mauritshuis. Our favorites include Mesdag’s Panorama and Escher in het Paleis. Madurodam: Visit Madurodam and discover all of Holland in a few hours. Ever since the opening in 1952 Madurodam has been one of the most iconic places in the Netherlands. Muiderslot: The Muiderslot Castle is one of Holland’s most picturesque medieval castles. Scheveningen: Let’s go to the beach! The Pier is one of the most notable icons in Scheveningen. Nearly 400 metres long and 45 metres high, it runs straight into the North Sea and offers a beautiful view of the village. *Video correction: the sun is setting over the North Sea (not the Atlantic!)* Leiden: Leiden is a picturesque university city with many canals, ‘hofjes’ and museums. Leiden also has its own Hortus Botanicus, an impressive university garden filled with plants from around the world. Rotterdam: Rotterdam is a city of many faces: a tough port city, a trendy modern city, and a hip artistic city. Check out the Maritime Museum when in Rotterdam to learn about Rotterdam’s role as a port city. Don’t miss a walk over the Erasmus Bridge. At its highest point, the Erasmus bridge is 139-meters tall. Known as the 'Erasmusbrug' in Dutch, the bridge has also been lovingly nicknamed The Swan (‘De Zwaan’) by locals due to the distinctive shape of that one, asymmetrical pylon. Zoetermeer: It’s got everything you need! Zoetermeer was our homebase for our entire stay in the Netherlands - thanks to our wonderful hosts! We miss our daily trips to Albert Heijn in the Meerzicht with Miss Moneypenny. We’ll be back soon! NEXT TIME: Catch us chasing summer in Portugal! Icelanders have from the time of settlement depended on fishing. Settlement at Faxaflói Bay was founded on fishing and fish processing. Since the 19th century, the growth of Reykjavik and nearby Hafnarfjörður was largely based on the fisheries, as well as improved living conditions in the 20th century. The fishing industry has been the foundation of prosperity in Iceland. The role of Vikin-Maritime Museum in Reykjavik is to present a living record of this most dynamic aspect of Iceland's history.

It appeared to be artificially set stones underwater and they decided to go scuba diving to find out exactly what it is. 6. Watch Out After seeing this photo you might not want to go on a boating trip for a while. Although whales are normally harmless, they certainly are powerful enough to flip over puny little boats like you see here. In San diego, there was a case of a blue whale flipping over a motor boat off the coast. Although it rarely happens, it looks like this boat better take off, just to be safe. 5. Gas Masks from the Past Large bodies of water are often sought after by enemy armies who are hungry for power. When their large vessels get sunk to the bottom, the things inside get scattered all over the place. This photo here shows 2 gas masks found on the Nippo maru and are perched at front of the ship. 4. Man on the Couch Here we see a guy who seems to be a little out of shape and is posted up on his couch to watch some TV but something just doesn’t seem quite right about it… could it be that this guy has become completely petrified in stone. It’s actually an underwater art museum off the coast of mexico. There’s over 500 life sized sculptures at this location, and this museum is becoming a hotspot for fearless scuba divers. It’s interesting to see how being underwater for a long period of time, can change things different colors. 3. Truk Lagoon The Truk Lagoon is a sheltered body of water in the central pacific located about 750 miles north of Papua New Guinea. During World War II, it was Japan’s main base in this region. And there’s something quite eery about this place. It was even explored by Jacques Cousteau. Ghostly remains like of this light tank here at about 150 feet depth, attract many scuba divers. 2. Titanic Images In 2012, new images of the Titanic were released to the public like you’ve never seen it before. The legendary doomed ship skidded along its starboard side on into an iceberg in the frigid North Atlantic Seas. The ship was too large to turn away and avoid the crash. Using robotic devices, this expedition took two months in order to get never before seen images of the wrecked ship.

Egypt "Lower Egypt" "Northern Egypt" Cairo, Pyramids,"Egyptian Museum" Memphis, Sakkara.
link to Upper Egypt on my Channel ;http://youtu.be/f9zvb_OrhIE This film covers Cairo & its surrounds; including the Citadel, Souks, Mohammed Ali Mosque, The Pyramids of Giza, The Sphinx and the spectacular Pyramid Son et Lumiere show. We also visited the ancient capital of Memphis, Dahshur, and Sakkara, finishing in Alexandria. Lower Egypt is the northern-most section of Egypt. It refers to the fertile Nile Delta region, which stretches from the area between Upper Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea — from El-Aiyat south of modern-day Cairo, and Zawyet Dahshur. Lower Egypt was known as Ta-Mehu which means "land of papyrus." It was divided into twenty districts called nomes, the first of which was at el-Lisht. Because Lower Egypt was mostly undeveloped scrubland, undeveloped for human life and filled with all types of plant life such as grasses and herbs, the organization of the nomes underwent several changes. The capital of Lower Egypt was Memphis. Its patron Goddess was the cobra goddess Wadjet. Lower Egypt was represented by the Low Red Crown Deshret, and its symbols were the papyrus and the bee.

A few dozen countries operate booths on the open-air market offering food and drinks from the particular countries. The Kieler Nachrichten newspaper runs a special about food on the market in its Saturday edition. If you cannot decide from the endless choices head over to the Scandinavian area or to wherever crowds are gathering. Also famous is in Laboe (part of Kiel on the east-side of the fjord) the only surviving Type VII-C U-boat from World War 2 at the shore and the "Marine-Ehrenmal" (Navy Memorial) with a high tower. Kiel is famous for the Nord-Ostsee Kanal (Kiel Canal), the world's busiest canal. It is possible to walk or cycle for almost the entire length (99km) directly along the canal from Kiel to Brunsbüttel (estuary of the Elbe, on the North Sea Coast), staying overnight in the town of Rendsburg. In 1925, the Hjørring-Hirtshals railway line opened to link the port of Hirtshals with the Danish rail network. In 1966, the harbour was expanded and became one of the largest fishing ports in Denmark. Until January 1, 2007, Hirtshals was also the seat of Hirtshals Municipality which was merged with existing Hjørring, Løkken-Vrå, and Sindal municipalities to form an enlarged Hjørring Municipality. Geography[edit] The nature of Hirtshals: the beach, the cliffs, the North Sea and the history: the bunkers and the lighthouse Hirtshals is located on the sand and clay promontory Hirtshals, overlooking the Skagerrak between the Jammer Bay and the Tannis Bay. The shoreline is backed by low cliffs, beneath which is a narrow and rocky beach. Cityscape[edit] The town's 35 metre high lighthouse, Hirtshals fyr, is a local landmark. Building was begun on June 28th, 1860, and it was first lit on January 1st, 1863. It is constructed of red brick, and covered with Dutch tile. But in days where there is no wind, the waves typically won't be higher than max 20 cm (8 in) over normal sea level. Due to the proximity of the town to the coast, sea fog is not an uncommon occurrence. In the winter, the air temperature can fall as low as 1.6 degrees, but in the summer, it can reach over 25 degrees Celsius. Waves[edit] Hirtshals Havnekontor (Hirtshals' Harbor Office) keeps track of wave periods. On yearly basis wave periods fluctuate between half a second, up to about 9 seconds. According to Hirtshals Havnekontor (Hirtshals' Harbor Office) normal wave heights are between 2 and 2.5 meters. Wind[edit] The prevailing wind in Hirtshals is to the south or south-west. Wind speeds vary all year long, usually topping at 10 m/s during the winter. Economy[edit] Drilling rig MAERSK GUARDIAN during renovation in Hirtshals Fishing plays a big role for the town and its inhabitants, as does tourism and the renting of summer homes. Due to the ferry connections with Norway, the shops in Hirtshals thrive on the large number of visitors, especially Norwegians, who shop in the small town all year long. Culture[edit] It is the home of one of the largest aquariums in Europe, the Nordsøen Oceanarium. This was built in 1984 as Nordsømuseet, The North Sea Museum, and got its present name after it was extended in 1998 to include a fish tank containing 4,5 million litres of water, making it the largest in northern Europe. The Oceanarium has 70 different species in its collection. A fire in December 2003 destroyed the new extension, but the Nordsøen Oceanarium was rebuilt and reopened on July 22, 2005.

From food tours to Game of Thrones experiences, and coastal walks to haunted castle visits, here’s is what I experienced in Northern Ireland. Giant’s Causeway is a UNESCO Heritage Site that features no less than 40,000+ interlocking basalt columns. Legend has it that Irish giant, Finn MacCool, built the causeway across the North Channel to accept a fight from Scottish giant Benandonner. The Gobbins is a modern cliff path located in County Antrim. The walk takes you across bridges past caves and through tunnels. For my 9:00 am activity, I visited the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, which links the mainland to the small island of Carraig a’ Ráid. The suspension bridge offers the best vantage points for landscape photos. Titanic Belfast museum offers visitors a chance to learn about the lives of the workers who built the Titanic, along with the passengers and crew who made the fateful voyage. An Ulster Fry features soda bread, potato bread, back bacon, fried eggs, fried mushrooms, sausages, baked beans, hash browns and toast. With a burgeoning food scene the Belfast Food Tour is a great way to sample some of the best bites and drinks the city has to offer. The 4-hour guided walk takes you to some top food and drink spots around Belfast while better acquainting yourself with the city! At Harry's Shack I had a hankering for fish and chips and it was the best I’ve had in Northern Ireland. The Dark Hedges wasn’t the only GOT destination I visited. Game Of Thrones fans will be glad to know that you can visit Castle Ward to experience Winterfell by dressing up in costume and putting those archery skills to the test. After all that pampering, I made it down to Lough Erne for sunset with a side of roasted marshmallows. At Deanes Love Fish they had an amazing seafood platter indulging to the max! If you’re looking for something to do at 01:00 am, be it ending the evening or kickstarting the night, the Merchant Hotel is a great spot for a cocktail and conversation. I finished the night at Bullitt Hotel, where there was a live DJ set and party atmosphere. The story of Lady Isabella goes that after being locked in her room and starved by her husband, she fell to her death from the window. Mediums who spent the night at the castle reported that there are numerous ghosts. And that’s a wrap for my solo adventure in Northern Ireland. I hope this 24 hour travel guide gave you some ideas of cool things you see, do, and eat when you visit. In the meantime, wishing you happy travels and until next time! This is part of our Travel in Northern Ireland video series showcasing Northern Ireland food, Northern Ireland culture and Northern Ireland cuisine. Music by IKSON: https://soundcloud.com/ikson

ACCORDING TO WIKIPEDIA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanic_Belfast Titanic Belfast is a visitor attraction opened in 2012, a monument to Belfast's maritime heritage on the site of the former Harland & Wolff shipyard in the city's Titanic Quarter where the RMS Titanic was built. It tells the stories of the ill-fated Titanic, which hit an iceberg and sank during her maiden voyage in 1912, and her sister ships RMS Olympic and HMHS Britannic. The building contains more than 12,000 square metres (130,000 sq ft) of floor space, most of which is occupied by a series of galleries, private function rooms and community facilities, plus the addition of Hickson’s Point destination bar in March 2018. The building is located on Queen's Island, an area of land at the entrance of Belfast Lough which was reclaimed from the water in the mid-19th century. The Civil War Battle Series: Chancellorsville
When Union forces clashed with a much smaller Confederate army in the Battle of Chancellorsville, Robert E. Lee seized victory with what many consider to be his strategic masterpiece. But Lee also paid a terrible price, as this presentation from May 2, 2013 at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum explains. Dr. Mark DePue, historian and director of the library's Oral History Program, discusses the battle using quotes from Civil War veterans, maps, photographs and illustrations.

An Inuit model - a connection between cultures | Death In The Ice
We asked Franklin exhibition curators and experts to tell us about their favourite items from the Death In The Ice exhibition. In this video Claire Warrior, Senior Expert at Royal Museums Greenwich, talks about how Inuit oral history has long been telling us about Europeans in the Arctic through the fascinating object of the Inuit model of a European ship. In 1845 Franklin and 128 crewmen sailed from England in search of the North-West Passage through the Arctic. The men and their two ships, Erebus and Terror, would never return. They disappeared in what has been an enduring mystery, which we are only now starting to unravel. In 2014 the wreck of Erebus was discovered under the Arctic ice, followed by the discovery of Terror in 2016. The Death In The Ice exhibition at London's National Maritime Museum displays items recovered from the ships - many on display for the first time. These items along with other art, artefacts and curiosities help to piece together the story of Franklin and his lost men. #DeathInTheIce http://www.rmg.co.uk/franklin ------------------------------------------------------- Royal Museums Greenwich is home to the National Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, The Royal Observatory and The Queen’s House. Titanic Quarter in Belfast, Northern Ireland is a large-scale waterfront regeneration, comprising historic maritime landmarks, film studios, education facilities, apartments, a riverside entertainment district, and the world's largest Titanic-themed attraction centred on land in Belfast Harbour, known until 1995 as Queen's Island. The 185-acre (75 ha) site, previously occupied by part of the Harland and Wolff shipyard, is named after the company's, and the city's, most famous product RMS Titanic. Titanic Quarter is part of the Dublin-based group, Harcourt Developments, which has held the development rights since 2003.[
