Honda Insight: New hybrid prototype to be shown at Detroit 2018 show. The Honda Insight is coming back, and it’s actually looking rather good. Honda unveiled new pictures of an all-new, revamped hybrid, and it marks a huge change to the previous version of the car. Honda says it’ll be shown at the 2018 Detroit motor show, and from the outside at least, it looks pretty stylish. New pictures released show a slick saloon that has hints of the newest Civic and a little of the new Honda Accord – and it makes for a rather svelte saloon. .The prototype model shown – which is likely near to production spec – features a similar front end to Honda’s superhatch, but the rest of the car is a little more in keeping with its five-seater proportions. What’s the interior like?.On the inside, the new Honda Insight continues to copy some elements of the Honda Civic. .The infotainment system looks to be similar, while the general design language is the same style you’ll find in most of Honda’s current line up. What’s the price? Is it a Toyota Prius rival?.As expected, the Honda Insight will be a hybrid car, and should use the same technology already seen in the 2018 Honda Accord hybrid. That means we’ll likely see a system that comprises of two electric motors, along with a 2. 0-litre Atkinson cycle engine. While the price, UK release date and other information isn’t yet known, the general body style of the new car, the powertrain – and the fact Honda says it’ll be position above the Civic – all mean that it’s likely to go head to head with the Prius in 2019.

CAR magazine UK lives with a Volvo XC60 SUV: follow our long-term test review diary here: . Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-KG7b6WJXucYsqbnt52HbA?sub_confirmation=1 Living with D4 AWD Inscription ProFollow our full long-term test review Month 1 living with a Volvo XC60: the start of our long-term test ‘Ahhh – that’s better’ sighed the missus, waving goodbye to the Car of the Year-winning Peugeot 3008 as she settled into what, by rights, should have a fair-to-middling shout at the shortlist for the next one. Yes, we're now living with the new Volvo XC60 SUV. This is the car which confirms that Gothenburg has finally got its eider ducklings in a row on the premium pond. By which I mean that the only reason to go out there and buy an XC90 instead is for want of a bigger car; all the good stuff which heralded the arrival of the former now putting in an appearance here. There was no opportunity to tailor this XC60 to specific ff-C family requirements (somewhere for the missus to stow her ruddy handbag other than the front passenger footwell, rear-seat central sandbag barricade, disposable earplug dispenser, gas masks, etc) merely a choice of two cars, one sporting the R-Design specification, the other Inscription Pro. In truth, however, even an entry-level XC60 boasts more than enough bells and whistles to keep the customer satisfied; the tailoring of the artfully wrought Sensus multimedia system to individual preferences alone capable of accounting for lengths of time spent in a stationary car more usually associated with the average dogging site. Use of the 9-inch centre console touchscreen feels fast enough for mere mortals and is largely intuitive, though the cleaning cloth provided in the glove box is clearly going to earn its keep until precisely the moment it is sufficiently grease-saturated to serve merely as a smear re-arranger. In an effort to combat this, I do promise to explore the use of voice-activated control. Ultimately, then, it came down to a choice of undercarriage, the Inscription Pro’s adaptive air suspension and 20in alloys offering a whiff more in the schmooze department that the R-Design’s firmer set-up, despite the latter sporting 19in wheels. Options have upped the price by less than four grand. Happily, over half of that has been splurged on a delicious, 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins stereo, which passed Frank Zappa’s Dirty Love and wax dislodgement test with flying colours. It’s a little surprising to find smartphone integration as a £300 extra on the options list, but I suppose there may still be the occasional Outer Hebridean Volvo owner out there who might baulk at the price of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The 187bhp generated by 2.0 litres of turbodiesel seems, at first prods of the throttle, adequate to shift 1800 kilos of car, though the XC60 can hardly be accused of yelling off the launch pad. Even with Dynamic mode dialled in to sharpen response to the loud pedal, the kickdown at the bottom of accelerator pedal travel appears to serve no purpose whatsoever other than to introduce a hiccup in the last inch of progress towards the Axminster. And, perhaps, acc #magazine, #lives, #with, #VolvoXC60, #follow, #long, #term, #test, #review, #diary, #here

Top 10 Safest used cars on UK roads revealed Co-op Insurance, Thatcham – the UK’s official crash test centre – and road safety charity Brake rank the safest second hand cars on the market. Over 7 million used cars are sold every year in the UK in a market now worth £45 billion. Within this, second-hand car sales outstrip new car sales by three to one – making their safety features incredibly important. But do we as drivers consider safety when buying second-hand? Research suggests not, with more than half of car buyers didn’t ask any questions about safety features on their current motor and only 4% say they placed car safety at the top of their buying criteria. Over the years, huge technological advances have been made to driver, passenger and pedestrian safety – which is measured by Thatcham research - yet less than one in 10 asked about the safety star rating when buying their car. The Co-op is committed to community issues and so have teamed up with Thatcham – the UK’s official crash test centre - to devise a formula ranking Britain’s safest used cars, giving drivers everything they need when choosing the safest car for their families whilst improving road safety in local communities.

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross long-term test review by CAR magazine UK: daily updates and life with the new crossover: https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/long-term-tests/mitsubishi/eclipse-cross-long-term-test-review/. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-KG7b6WJXucYsqbnt52HbA?sub_confirmation=1 Month 4 of our Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross long-term test review: simple infotainment wins Speak to any car manufacturer and they all say that communicatainment, or whatever it’s currently called, is about the most important thing in selling a car these days. The wheels could be square, the seats cardboard boxes and the dynamics resemble those of a garden shed, but as long as the driver can retweet an influencer’s instacaption by just waving their hand at the dashboard, the car will fly out of showrooms. Odd, then, that most cars have systems that are crap. The Mitsubishi has an infotainment touchscreen and touchpad system that at first glance looks like that infernally fretful effort Lexus foists on customers, and the graphics would be underwhelming on a Texas Speak & Spell. However, when you start using it, something weird happens. It works beautifully. The touchpad is precise and moves across each clearly marked, logically presented section with an accurate buzz and click. If you want to operate the screen by touch, you can rest your hand on a little ledge, which means you’re not piloting your finger in to land on an ever-moving target – so you don’t have to take your eyes off the road, as you do with so many prettier but much less practical systems. These details have already caught our eye: It’s fair to say the Eclipse Cross’s rear aesthetic has caused controversy, drawing comments ranging from a ‘modern Pontiac Aztek-esque monstrosity’ to ‘very cool – I like it’. Personally, I’m not a great fan – it looks like a coupe was dropped on a dinghy – and the narrow track doesn’t do the thing any visual favours either. But I can live with it. Why no sat-nav? Inexplicably, the Eclipse Cross doesn’t have navigation, even as an option (Apple CarPlay or Android Auto steps in instead), yet bizarrely it wi #MitsubishiEclipseCross, #long, #term, #test, #review, #CAR, #magazineUK, #daily, #updates, #life, #with

CAR magazine UK scoop the new 2019 VW T-Roc R - a high-performance version of Volkswagen's new baby SUV: https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/spy-shots/volkswagen/vw-t-roc-r-2018-revealed-in-pictures/. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-KG7b6WJXucYsqbnt52HbA?sub_confirmation=1 These new spy photographs confirm that it's not just EVs that float their boats in Wolfsburg these days: performance cars still matter, and here's evidence that a brawny VW T-Roc R crossover is on the way. It's expected on sale in 2019. We caught it emerging from the group Volkswagen/Audi test facility at the Nurburgring in Germany. Essentially a VW Golf R on stilts (thanks to the shared MQB architecture), the go-faster T-Roc shares the hot hatch's all-wheel drive powertrain and that extends to the turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, CAR understands. How powerful will the VW T-Roc R be? Word is, it'll also share the peak power output of 306bhp. In a smaller but taller bodyshell, we'd anticipate key acceleration figures a little slower than the Golf R's 5.1sec 0-62mph time and top speed pegged back to 155mph. Bluff aerodynamics, a taller centre of gravity and a higher mass will all take their toll. It's the second time we've spotted the T-Roc R prototype near the group Nurburgring test facility, where it is undergoing high-speed performance and endurance testing. The quad tailpipes at the rear are a giveaway that this is no normal T-Roc, but it's not yet clear if a more aggressive aero package, bumpers and spoilers will be added to final production versions. Simpler, reconfigured day-running lights (DRLs) can also be viewed in these new spyshots above. Volkswagen has pledged to keep the GTI badge for its purist hot hatchbacks; however, it's quite happy to let go-faster SUVs wear the R moniker. Bigger brakes, larger-diameter alloy wheels and tuned suspension complete the VW T-Roc R look. The T-Roc range is selling well in the UK: Volkswagen UK has sold 4272 in the first four months of the year - and that's before the sportier R Line spec with its bigger wheels, sports suspension and bodykit arrives over summer 2018. When can I buy a Volkswagen T-Roc R? We expect to see the new, full-fat T-Roc R derivative later in 2018, probably at the Paris motor show in October. It's too early to talk about prices, but we'd be surprised if you'll see any change from £30,000 when it lands in British showrooms in the first half of 2019. #magazine, #scoop, #2019, #high, #performance, #version, #Volkswagen, #baby #magazine, #pictures, #test, #golf, #2018, #volkswagen, #group, #facility, #troc, #revealed

SUBSCRIBE HERE!! https://www.youtube.com/kevinhunter7 How do you buy a car from a dealership, with cash, with no credit, with bad credit? Here are the best car buying tips available today! See our latest video "TOP 10 Tips to get the BEST CAR DEAL" (10 best car buying tips / advice) at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lik6d0mcNp4 Are you a savvy car shopper who needs a little car buying advice? Kevin Hunter hosts "The Business Forum Show" outlines the 13 car mistakes to avoid making at the dealership. See the new video on "Getting Pre-Approved on Car Loans!" at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KSmB3HE90E CATEGORIES: car, truck, suv, auto, used cars, autos, mechanic, automobile, vehicle, dealer, automotive news, auto shop, warranty. People in the car business who profit from your mistakes by taking advantage of you will rant about things we share here and disagree with the content, but don't be fooled by their rhetoric. A dishonest car salesperson absolutely loves an ignorant car shopper. We will try to help you avoid the common mistakes, and assist you in sorting the facts from the baloney in this business. We profit nothing regardless of what you choose to do, and we don't mind if you choose to not use the information. If you do, you'll find yourself walking away with a much better car deal. If you don't, you don't have much room to complain when this stuff happens. How do Car Dealers rip you off? This video presents 13 different car buying mistakes that you can't afford to make when car shopping. If you're going to car shop and don't want to be taken advantage of, it's up to you to learn about car salesmen and auto dealerships, and the dirty tricks they play to rip people off. You also need to learn about the scams and inappropriate products sold by both new and used car dealers, and why some things dealers offer should NEVER be purchased. These include things like the theft protection scam, GAP insurance that is sold to consumers who either didn't need it, or could have purchased much cheaper from their own insurance agent, and extended warranties that are often sold to buyers who didn't want them or need them. To make matters worse, there are also thousands of car dealers who employ finance officers that are some of the most unscrupulous people you'll ever meet, willing to tell you any lie they can come up with to sell you everything I've described, and more. The worst ones will even claim your interest rate on your loan is only available if you buy all the added products they are proposing. They claim the 'bank' wants the car protected.... which is BS... On the contrary, the bank wants your loan as small as possible so if they need to repossess the car, they can get their money out of it. This video was published to help you discover how you can save time and money on your next new or used car purchase by doing your homework first, and then going car shopping as an informed buyer. Is it unreasonable to expect a little old-fashioned honesty? We don't think so, but we are more than amused by the countless car salespeople or car dealers who contact us and state that we are making a 'small problem' sound far worse than it is. They also tell us the entire video is completely fabricated baloney. Really? Are you kidding us? We know there are honest people in the car business, and we receive positive comments from many of them, but it's definitely a buyer beware world out on the car lot! For all of you car buyers who are well steeped in reality, if you watched the video "Confessions of a car dealers backroom" you need to see this video. By understanding what mistakes to avoid, you'll not only become a smarter car buyer, but you'll also better understand what not to tell a car dealer when buying a car. It's true that you can play all your cards up front with an honest dealer, but unfortunately, they represent the minority of dealer owners (truly transparent and honest dealers make up about 40% of all dealers), and you are unlikely to know the difference until it's far too late. Be smart, do your homework, and you'll come home with a car deal that's good for you and the dealer. After all, that's what fairness is all about. We don't endorse anyone being ripped off, and that includes some customers who think it's 'justice' to turn tables and try to 'steal' a car from a dealer. If you do stuff like this, that makes you a crook too, doesn't it? When a car dealer loses money on a deal, they just take it from the next unsuspecting person. We don't think your neighbor should have to pay for your car, so we encourage you to be fair and honest. Everything we talk about has to do with fairness and honesty, and that works both ways. Respect the dealers right to make money in your quest to get a fair and honest car deal. It's this kind of attitude by car dealers and consumers alike that will change the car business. CAR magazine UK reviews the new 2019 Kia E-Niro electric car: specs, prices, road test and a verdict you can trust: https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/kia/e-niro-electric-suv/. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-KG7b6WJXucYsqbnt52HbA?sub_confirmation=1 We’re told Kia’s trying to forge its own path in Europe, and that it’s doing so by launching a swathe of vehicles that differ from parent company Hyundai’s offerings. But what we have here on the face of it might seem to contradict that fact, since the E-Niro is very similar in concept to the Kona Electric. After all, they’re both small SUVs with nearly 300 miles of range, priced just above £30k with the reduced UK plug-in grant and loaded with standard kit. In fact, the car you can see here is the only version we’re getting in the UK. Kia offers a lower-range version elsewhere, but is unable to price that effectively enough to compete with the slightly smaller and cheaper Kona Electric. So instead the E-Niro is here in bells-and-whistles 3 specification, and your only factory options choices are a spread of six colours. It's a very simple car to spec and choose, then. But is it as good as the hype suggests? Read on for our full Kia E-Niro review. Hang on - they don’t look like UK numberplates! Good spot. They’re not. They’re Korean, because we’ve been driving these cars in Seoul shortly before they embark on a 4300-mile boat ride to our shores to serve as a training and demo fleet for British Kia dealers as they begin the push for electrification. There’s a new Kia EV coming every year for the next three years, you see, and salespeople are going to need their ducks in a row if the Koreans are going to succeed in the zero-emissions marketplace. So in fact while we’re driving on the right, the nicely trimmed, white-stitched leather steering wheel’s on that side too. Not an issue, except the sat-nav system only has European mapping. Apple CarPlay to the rescue… Our journey begins at the Korean automotive powerhouse that is the twin towers of Hyundai and Kia’s global headquarters, which is in a busy industrial area of Seoul. That means one thing: traffic. There are thousands of motorists constantly jostling for position on the multi-lane expressways that course through the city. It’s a frenetic place to get to grips with a new car, but thankfully at least we’re dealing with a smaller SUV here. The E-Niro’s dimensions place it a sector above its Kona cousin, but it’s still not a large car and feels neatly nimble at low speeds. Electric propulsion helps here too, of course. Prod the right pedal and this Kia leaps forward with entertaining urgency. We’re wide-eyed on our first attempt, and chuckling to ourselves regularly thereafter with the immediacy of thrust available here as we nip between lanes to make progress. Kia E-Niro: addictive acceleration as standard It’s nothing new for EVs to have 100% of torque available from 0rpm, but our preconceived notion having read the spec sheet of 0-62mph in only 7.5 seconds had set us up for disappointment in the face of Teslas with Ludicrous Mode and the like. Although the thrust on offer might not throw this Kia through the sound barrier, it’s still instantly gratifying and genuinely fee #CAR, #magazineUK, #reviews, #2019KiaENiro, #electric, #specs, #prices, #road, #test, #verdict

CAR magazine UK lives with a VW Arteon for seven months: the full lowdown of our extended daily driver test with regular updates: https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/long-term-tests/volkswagen/arteon-long-term-test-review/. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-KG7b6WJXucYsqbnt52HbA?sub_confirmation=1 We live Volkswagen's biggestRegular daily driver diary updates Month 7 of our Volkswagen Arteon long-term test: the conclusion There’s nothing worse than a bad boring car. The Arteon, however, is a brilliant boring car. If circumstances deny you delectable steering feel and a naturally aspirated engine that revs to 9000rpm, lumbering you instead with a need for comfort and convenience, it sucks to know you’re being short-changed. It’s all too easy for manufacturers to turn out dross with an indecipherable infotainment system and a design so depressing that opening the garage has you feeling like you’ve just collected the keys to a bottom-of-the-rung rental car. That’s not the Arteon. It’s shone in its months with us – literally so when the sun reflects off the paint. That colour is part of the feelgood factor, showing off the chiselled lines to full effect and causing members of the public to flock to it. Forget your Astons and your Ferraris, I’ve never had so many comments from so many people, at petrol stations, in car parks, even coming out of the house one day to find two random passers-by admiring it in the street. No one guessed it was a posh Passat. Those gorgeous lines hide the hatchback. Nearly every executive saloon sticks to a conventional boot, but bucking the trend is a boon for the Arteon. We specced our car with the optional electrical tailgate (£900, which included keyless entry too), and one flick of your foot under the rear bumper has the huge fifth door rising to reveal the enormous (563 litres) luggage area. We didn’t once struggle for space, and it came into its own on our annual Sports Car Giant Test (SCGT), swallowing the crew’s kit for the week and proving the perfect tracking vehicle for photographer Richard Pardon. That event was an acid test for the Arteon’s overall abilities. It’d been given short shrift at the Our Cars Away Day earlier in the year – when everyone just wanted to thrash Mark Walton’s shiny new M5 around North Wales – but a long schlep to France and back revealed where it excels. The long wheelbase (2837mm) meant anyone could fit in behind my 6ft 5in frame with room to spare. So when the choice was hours in the Alpine’s passenger seat, or squeezed into the back of the M2 Competition, or the tough ride of the Porsche GT2 RS, the Arteon kept finding itself four-up and leading our convoy. Which is why we found ourselves shadowing exotica such as the McLaren Senna (below). And away from SCGT, I only adored it more. A smidge under 200bhp is enough for London life (and the overall mpg reflected its stop/start life) and long motorway cruises gave 40mpg and 500 miles between fills. The seats are great, the infotainment system exemplary, and the high-quality interior has just enough buttons – there’s no need to dive into the central touchscreen for even the simplest of commands. Case in point: the button on the dash that lets you activate the (optional £765) 360° cameras in an instant, which is part #CAR, #magazineUK, #lives, #with, #VWArteon, #seven, #months, #full, #lowdown, #extended, #daily, #driver

CAR magazine UK reveals the new 2018 BMW 3-series, codenamed G20. Full scoop, specs, artist's impressions, prices and news: https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/spy-shots/bmw/bmw-3-series-2018-next-three-codenamed-g20-revealed/. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-KG7b6WJXucYsqbnt52HbA?sub_confirmation=1 Our spies have been poking inside the new 2018 BMW 3-series to reveal our best look yet at the interior of the junior 5-series. Codenamed G20, the new Three sports the latest version of BMW's iDrive 7.0 operating system, which will control all major functions inside the cabin. But the good news for traditionalists is that physical buttons have not - yet - been banished from the cabin. Heating and stereo controls remain below the wide digital screen atop the dashboard, and the steering wheel is festooned with short-cut switches too (you can order a heated wheel, too, judging by our new spyshots). CAR magazine's latest spy photos capture the car on test in Germany. Although still disguised, some of the padding hidden beneath the camo is now removed, showing more production-ready bodywork and silhouettes. We get a good look at the latest iteration of BMW's signature 'squircle' twin headlamps too. We now know the official launchpad for the new 3-series: insiders confirm it will be revealed to the world at the 2018 Paris motor show in October 2018, so there are still a few more months to wait before the first official pictures emerge, probably scheduled for the summer. First up is the new 3-series saloon, depicted in CAR magazine's artist's impressions below and in our gallery. Although due to be shown this autumn, the new Three won't in fact go on sale until well into 2019 in right-hand drive, CAR understands, while the Touring estate and other bodystyles (including two-door 4-series) won't be seen until later this decade. Check out our quick whistle-stop video guide to the new 2019 BMW 3-series at the bottom of this article (hat tip to Bimmerpost for some nice video footage of G20). And read on for the full lowdown on the benchmark compact exec... A look inside the cabin of the new G20 BMW 3-series New spyshots have also given us our best look yet inside the next saloon, including the full digital instrument panel inside the new 3-series, likely to be made available on high-end variants. It aims to close the gap with the new class-leaders, the latest Mercedes-Benz C-class, Audi A4 and new Jaguar XE. Gone are the days of BMW hegemony in this important sector, and they're pulling out all the stops to close the gap. It's not so long ago that Munich released a facelifted version of today's 3-series, but in this updated scoop dossier we can lift the lid on its successor - the all-new model is coming in autumn 2018. This is BMW's best-selling model worldwide by some margin - it's vital that they gun for class honours. Our latest spy shots – click on the image above to browse the full gallery – show a plug-in hybrid version testing, with an extra 'fuel cap' in the left front wing, concealing the socket for the charging cable. And if you're interested in the high-performance BMW derivative, codenamed G80 and on sale in 2020, don't miss our separate detailed scoop here. It's designed to bring the fight to the Mercedes-AMG C63 and Audi RS4. CAR Magazine UK drives the race-spec VW Golf GTI TCR car at Portimao: https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/volkswagen/golf-gti-tcr-racing-car/. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-KG7b6WJXucYsqbnt52HbA?sub_confirmation=1 Just how much faster is a racing car than a road car? How much of a difference do those slick tyres and spoilers really make? As it turns out, an awful lot. At the recent launch of the VW Golf GTI TCR road car at the undulating Portimao circuit in Portugal, we were unexpectedly offered a session in its touring car racing equivalent. Given that the race car is worth more than €90,000 and Portimao is big on blind bends, corner speeds and elevation, VW sensibly asked that all drivers followed a pace car, in this case a Golf R Estate. VW Golf GTI TCR specs With 306bhp and all-wheel drive, the R is one very quick road car, potent enough to keep a supercar honest on a twisty road and a favourite among CAR magazine road testers. The VW Golf TCR race car uses the same engine, but boosted to around 345bhp, running through the same seven-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox as the road car (leather gear gaiter and all). That’s in the racing car’s ‘standard’ trim – it can also be fitted with a six-speed sequential racing gearbox, as per the works Golfs that campaigned in the international WTCR championship by Sebastien Loeb’s team. But many customer cars, particularly those used in endurance racing at the Nürburgring for example, stick with the DSG. The wheels are pushed out far wider than the road car’s, within giant box arch extensions, and the enormous rear wing bolted to the tailgate is top-mounted, for cleaner airflow. I’m belted into the TCR’s surprisingly comfy race seat in the Portimao pitlane, behind the idling Golf R. My right foot rests on a standard throttle pedal from the road car, my left on a race-spec brake pedal. There’s such a distance between them it’s easier to brake with your left foot than your right. The removeable steering wheel is peppered with buttons for radio, headlamp flashers, differential maps (there are three – ordinarily you’d use the most aggressive setting for a sprint race, the middle to look after the tyres in an endurance stint or the kindest setting for wet weather) and so on. The dashboard is a lightweight plastic facsimile of the production car’s; so are the door cards, with neatly moulded cut-outs for the beefy rollcage. A giant metal lever is hinged from the transmission tunnel – it’s not a gearlever, but a handbrake, used for holding the car on sloping grids and for warming the rear brakes and tyres before a race. Golf GTI TCR racer: a brief drive Setting off is as simple as sliding the gear selector to D and then nudging it across to manual mode (although you could drive the car in auto if you wished), in order to use the metal paddles behind the wheel. Taking care to warm the rear tyres, we start slow and gentle for the first few corners before pressing on. Or at least, pressing on in the case of the Golf R road car. Driven by a talented professional driver from VW’s driving experience programme, it’s being hustled to within an inch of its life. It’s all over the exit kerbing and beyond, two wheels o #CARMagazineUK, #drives, #race, #spec, #VWGolfGTITCR, #Portimao

CAR magazine UK is living with a new 2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake: check out our full long-term test review with specs, economy and more: https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/long-term-tests/jaguar/jaguar-xf-sportbrake-2018-long-term-test-review/. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-KG7b6WJXucYsqbnt52HbA?sub_confirmation=1 A year-long long-term test reviewShould you consider Jag's estate? Month of our Jaguar XF Sportbrake long-term test review: having a ball in the curves My commute is like watching Blade Runner 2049: engrossing but with only sporadic bursts of action. (Assuming you overlook the visual differences between a futuristic Los Angeles and the Bedfordshire A1.) Its highlight is that unlikely chicane on the Black Cat roundabout’s northbound approach, a window into the set-up of every car. First comes a sweeping left-hander where the body rolls gently outward as the tyres grip nonchalantly, telegraphing that this chassis could swoop through here far faster than the 60 limit permits. Then a nip of the brakes to trim the speed, a turn of the lovely linear steering, and the nose locks into the tighter right turn: not a trace of understeer, even if you’re quickly back on the power because the way ahead is clear. Dynamically, the big Jag is in great shape but it’s not perfect. The Ingenium diesel, though smoother and with less turbo whistle than our 2015 XE suffered, makes a bothersome groan and transmits vibrations under measured throttle load, until a 20-minute warm-up passes. I know fourpot diesels can’t sound like NASCARs, but this one’s frequency is shrill on the ears. There’s a two-tone quality to the ride too. The suspension’s primary gait is loping and lovely. But the onset of high-frequency undulations can cause choppy body movements. It’s not that the XF can’t do cruising: tyre and wind noise are pretty well suppressed. But it’s at its best in action hero mode. By Phil McNamara Month 1 living with a Jaguar XF Sportbrake: the introduction You know those Leica cameras, where cutting-edge digital image capture is wrapped up in a classical exterior design? I reckon this Jaguar XF Sportbrake, a 2.0-litre diesel Prestige model, is a kindred spirit. While the F-Pace looped the loop onto the public stage and the E-Pace barrel-rolled along behind – the brashness of SUVs! – Jaguar unveiled its XF wagon at the sedate, very traditional All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. Now our XF’s £705 Loire Blue Metallic paint, with glitzy flakes that twinkle in the sunlight, would doubtless be called for a dress code violation. But otherwise Wimbledon’s officials would find little to offend: the base Prestige’s 17-inch rims are only upgraded by a modest inch to this 10-spoke design (£840), and chrome piping is present and correct. Naturally on today’s Jags customers can opt for sportier R-Design bodykits, strip away the chrome and even select 20-inch gloss black rims, but we’ve gone for a more traditional look befitting this more classical body style. This is the practical Jag for those who find SUVs too bloated or teetering. While the XF Sportbrake is a lot longer than the F-Pace, it’s narrower, lower (naturally) and has heaps of legroom. Indeed rear passengers have more space to explore than Elon Musk. And the Sportbrake’s boot – with a couple of carrier bag ho #magazine, #living, #with, #2018Jaguar, #Sportbrake, #check, #full, #long, #term, #test, #review, #with, #specs #boot, #prestige, #jaguar, #2018, #rear, #test, #sportbrake, #traditional, #longterm, #magazine, #system, #diesel, #body, #review

CAR magazine UK explains the levels of autonomy in driverless car technology: https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-news/tech/autonomous-car-levels-different-driverless-technology-levels-explained/. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-KG7b6WJXucYsqbnt52HbA?sub_confirmation=1 If you’re interested in the future of transport, you’ll probably have heard of the autonomous vehicle levels already. Simply put, they’re a set of guidelines determined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) to describe the differing levels of autonomy in driverless cars. There are currently five-ish levels in total - we'll explain why that's happened in a bit - with Level 1 being the most basic and Level 5 being the most advanced. Further autonomous reading How does Lidar work in autonomous cars? How does autonomous car parking work? All you need to know about the Roborace Robocar What are the different levels of self-driving tech? It's pretty straightforward. What is now called Level 1 has been around for a few years now, and Level 2 is commonplace too. We're on the cusp of Level 3 and the next big thing - proper hands-off driving for long periods of time - is called Level 4 and, ultimately Level 5. Level 1 autonomous cars: a single aspect is automated The SAE, the Society of Automotive Engineers, has created a lexicon of autonomy. Level 1, the most basic type, is where one element of the driving process is taken over in isolation, using data from sensors and cameras, but the driver is very much still in charge. This started in the late 1990s at Mercedes-Benz, with its pioneering radar-managed cruise control, while Honda introduced lane-keep assist on the 2008 Legend. These were the first steps towards removing the driver’s duties behind the wheel. The first steps in 1990s/00s Lane-keep assist, auto cruise control Driver is still in control Level 2 driverless cars: chips control two or more elements Level 2 autonomy is where we’re at today: computers take over multiple functions from the driver – and are intelligent enough to weave speed and steering systems together using multiple data sources. Mercedes says it’s been doing this for four years. The latest Mercedes S-Class is Level 2-point-something. It takes over directional, throttle and brake functions for one of the most advanced cruise control systems yet seen – using detailed sat-nav data to brake automatically for corners ahead, keeping a set distance from the car in front and setting off again when jams clear, with the driver idle. Current state of the art Lane-change mode, self-parking features etc Human hands-on at all times Level 2+ autonomous cars: somwhere in between End of the year Driver monitoring, and more complex tasks Still human, but the car is aware of what's going on Level 3 autonomous cars: the car can boss safety-critical functions Highly automated vehicles are not far off. The SAE calls Level 3 ‘conditional automation’ – a specific – mode which lets all aspects of driving be done for you, but crucially the driver must be on hand to respond to a request to intervene. Audi calls its new A8 a Level 3 ready autonomous car – meaning the car has the potential to drive itself in certain circumstances, where it will assume control of all safety #CAR, #magazineUK, #explains, #levels, #autonomy, #driverless, #technology

CAR Magazine UK lives with a Volvo XC60 SUV with regular reports, pictures and specs: https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/long-term-tests/volvo/volvo-xc60-long-term-test-review/. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-KG7b6WJXucYsqbnt52HbA?sub_confirmation=1 Living with D4 AWD Inscription ProHow is A-ff-C getting on? So farewell, then, almost an entire Volvo XC60 D4 AWD Inscription Pro. It goes without saying that the bit missing is the retractable luggage cover, which was removed on day one to add space to the evil-smelling dog's quarters aft and has duly taken its pre-ordained place in the veritable pantheon of same occupying outside shed B at the ff-C Mudfordshire mortgage millstone. To paraphrase the robot tailor in Woody Allen's comic masterpiece Sleeper, the XC60 ownership experience has been, by and large, 'tuhmendous'. The interior is comfortable, beautifully screwed together, extremely well equipped and – the odd over-knurled knob aside – very much to my, and perhaps more importantly, the missus' taste. Granted, the centre console screen has succumbed to sufficient grubby dab smearings to now closely resemble those old Vaseline-lensed Mateus Rose TV adverts, and temperatures under the collar have risen somewhat with the air-conditioning's reluctance to just belt up and belt out on the hottest days. But since the former may be readily addressed with a wet wipe and the latter may very well be down to some mysterious form of as yet unidentified pilot error, these hardly constitute shortcomings for which Egon Ronay might contemplate knocking off a star. On the move, despite a propensity to roll a tad (in a manner which strikes me as entirely appropriate to a machine set up, first and foremost, for long-haul comfort), the XC60 ticks the grace and space boxes admirably, but does fall a whisker short on real-world pace. Figures of 187bhp, 295lb ft and 8.4 seconds to 62mph are perfectly respectable but, truth be told, the four-cylinder diesel can become over-vocal when pressed, and an average fuel consumption relentlessly glued in the high 32s pays testament to the extent to which this has happened. In Mudfordshire, most particularly when the rose scents the arbour, those that creak drive their crappy Rovers at precisely the speed indicated by the numerals on the stern (75, alas, excepted), and so in the interests of any progress at all, overtaking prowess is essential. The Volvo pulls just about acceptably when pushed, but the word 'nip' never really enters the equation during passing manoeuvres, and – in a rare fall from premium billing grace – the resultant noise somewhat detracts from the otherwise almost ubiquitous feelings of comfort, refinement and well-being aboard. Then again so, to be brutally honest, does the younger hooligan's propensity to throw up and the evil-smelling dog's tendency to break wind if cornering vim generates even a whiff of g. Hence any family outing's arrival on a stretch of relatively straight dual carriageway is invariably met with a collective sigh of relief and the en-mass powering up of windows. We'll miss the Volvo. It's a doddle to live with, a pleasure to occupy and plenty enough pleasing to drive. Indeed, the worst thing about living with a marque wh #CARMagazineUK, #lives, #with, #VolvoXC60SUV, #with, #regular, #reports, #pictures, #specs
