“Losing Earth”: How Humanity Came to Understand Climate Change & Failed to Act in Time

11:58
https://democracynow.org - “Losing Earth.” That’s the title of The New York Times Magazine article by Nathaniel Rich published August 1 in a special edition of the magazine dedicated entirely to climate change. The story tracks the 10-year period from 1979 to 1989, the decade Rich claims that humankind first came to a comprehensive understanding of climate change but failed to address its extreme dangers while there was still time. The story was produced with the support of the Pulitzer Center. We speak with Nathaniel Rich, writer-at-large for The New York Times Magazine. Freeman Dyson: A Global Warming Heretic

14:43
Deniers/Heretics like Freeman Dyson, should get the death penalty according to an Australian-born Professor, Richard Parncutt; "The death penalty is barbaric, racist, expensive, and is often applied by mistake." However, Parncutt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Parncutt) states; "The death penalty is an appropriate punishment for influential Global Warming deniers. Global Warming deniers fall into a completely different category from (mass murderer of children) Behring Breivik. They are already causing the deaths of hundreds of millions of future people. We could be speaking of billions, but I am making a conservative estimate." However, convicted persons who "publicly repent" would be spared the death penalty. But, he says; "Some global warming deniers would never admit their mistake and as a result they would be executed." Parncutt says we should start with the 269 prominent deniers (most of them scientists) listed on the Desmogblog website; http://www.desmogblog.com/global-warming-denier-database Freeman Dyson is a physicist who has been teaching at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton since Albert Einstein was there. When Einstein died in 1955, there was an opening for the title of "most brilliant physicist on the planet." Dyson has filled it. So when the global-warming movement came along, a lot of people wondered why he didn't come along with it. The reason he's a skeptic is simple. "I think any good scientist ought to be a skeptic," Dyson said. Then in the late 1970s, he got involved with early research on climate change at the Institute for Energy Analysis in Oak Ridge, Tenn. That research, which involved scientists from many disciplines, was based on experimentation. The scientists studied such questions as how atmospheric carbon dioxide interacts with plant life and the role of clouds in warming. But that approach lost out to the computer-modeling approach favored by climate scientists. And that approach was flawed from the beginning, Dyson said. "I just think they don't understand the climate," he said of climatologists. "Their computer models are full of fudge factors." A major fudge factor concerns the role of clouds. The greenhouse effect of carbon dioxide on its own is limited. To get to the apocalyptic projections trumpeted by Al Gore and company, the models have to include assumptions that CO-2 will cause clouds to form in a way that produces more warming. "The models are extremely oversimplified," Dyson said. "They don't represent the clouds in detail at all. They simply use a fudge factor to represent the clouds." Dyson said his skepticism about those computer models was borne out by recent reports of a study by Ed Hawkins of the University of Reading in Great Britain that showed global temperatures were flat between 2000 and 2010 — even though we humans poured record amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere during that decade. That was vindication for a man who was termed "a civil heretic" in a New York Times Magazine article on his contrarian views. Dyson embraces that label, with its implication that what he opposes is a religious movement. So does his fellow Princeton physicist and fellow skeptic, William Happer. "There are people who just need a cause that's bigger than themselves," said Happer. "Then they can feel virtuous and say other people are not virtuous." To show how uncivil this crowd can get, Happer e-mailed me an article about an Australian professor who proposes — quite seriously — the death penalty for heretics such as Dyson. As did Galileo, they can get a reprieve if they recant. I hope that guy never gets to hear Dyson's most heretical assertion: Atmospheric CO2 may actually be improving the environment. "It's certainly true that carbon dioxide is good for vegetation," Dyson said. "About 15 percent of agricultural yields are due to CO2 we put in the atmosphere. From that point of view, it's a real plus to burn coal and oil." In fact, there's more solid evidence for the beneficial effects of CO2 than the negative effects, Dyson said. So why does the public hear only one side of this debate? "Because the media do an awful job of reporting it." "They're absolutely lousy," he said of American journalists. "That's true also in Europe. I don't know why they've been brainwashed."

Climate Change: What's So Alarming?

Are droughts, hurricanes, floods and other natural disasters getting stronger and more frequent? Are carbon dioxide emissions, global temperatures and sea levels putting us on a path for climate catastrophe? Bjorn Lomborg, Director of the Copenhagen Consensus Center, breaks down the facts about the environment and shows why the reality of climate change may be very different from what you hear in the media. But many climate-change alarmists seem to claim that all climate change is worse than expected. This ignores that much of the data is actually more encouraging than expected. Yes, Arctic sea ice is melting faster than the models expected. But models also predicted that Antarctic sea ice would decrease, yet Antarctic sea ice is increasing. Yes, sea levels are rising, but the rise is not accelerating—if anything, two recent papers, one by Chinese scientists published in January 2014, and the other by U.S. scientists published in May 2013, have shown a small decline in the rate of sea-level increase. We are often being told that we’re seeing more and more droughts, but a study published in March 2014 in the journal Nature actually shows a decrease in the world’s surface that has been afflicted by droughts since 1982. Facts like these are important because a one-sided focus on worst-case stories is a poor foundation for sound policies. Hurricanes are likewise used as an example of things getting worse. But look at the U.S., where we have the best statistics: if we adjust for population and wealth, hurricane damage during the period of 1900-2013 actually decreased slightly. At the U.N. climate conference in Lima, Peru in December 2014 attendees were told that their countries should cut carbon emissions to avoid future damage from storms like Typhoon Hagupit, which hit the Philippines during the conference, killing at least 21 people and forcing more than a million into shelters. Yet the trend for strong typhoons around the Philippines have actually declined since 1950, according to a study published in 2012 by the Journal of Climate. Again, we’re told that all things are getting worse, but the facts don’t support this. This does not mean that global warming is not real, or a problem, but the one-sided story of alarmism makes us lose focus. If we want to help the world’s poor, who are the most threatened by natural disasters, it’s less about cutting carbon emissions than it is about pulling them out of poverty. The best way to see this is to look at the world’s deaths from natural disasters over time. In the Oxford University database for death rates from floods, extreme temperatures, droughts, and storms, the average in the first part of last century, was more than 130 dead every year per million people. Since then, the death rates have dropped 97 percent to a new low in the 2010s of less than 4 per million. The dramatic decline is mostly due to economic developments that help nations withstand catastrophes. If you’re rich like Florida, a major hurricane might cause plenty of damage to expensive buildings, but it kills few people and causes only a temporary dent in economic output. If a similar hurricane hits a poorer country like the Philippines or Guatemala, it kills many more people and can devastate the economy. So let’s be clear. Climate change is not “worse than we thought.” That doesn’t mean it’s not a reality or not a problem. It is. But the narrative that the world’s climate is changing from bad to worse is unhelpful alarmism that prevents us from focusing on smart solutions. 12-Year-Old Girl Asks Experts a Simple, Startling Climate Question

03:03
"Where should we go to stay safe?" That provocative question was asked by the youngest person in the audience after a panel discussion at a New York Times event launching a magazine-length essay exploring why so little has been done to address climate change. The panelists appeared caught off guard at first, then weighed in. The NASA climate science pioneer Jim Hansen, who went last, answered most directly, perhaps because he's been working with youth on court challenges related to global warming. See Our Childrens' Trust for more on that: http://ourchildrenstrust.org Also on the panel was the author of the long narrative feature article, Nathaniel Rich, who's perhaps best known for his fiction, including the bestselling novel on climate, "Odds Against Tomorrow." The other panelist, featured along with Hansen in the story, was Rafe Pomerance, a longtime climate policy architect and campaigner. The moderator was Jake Silverstein, editor in chief of the Times Sunday Magazine. The narrative feature, written by the journalist and novelist Nathaniel Rich, can be read here: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/08/01/magazine/climate-change-losing-earth.html The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting helped underwrite the months-long reporting process and the event: http://pulitzercenter.org/ I offered some thoughts in a Twitter string here: https://twitter.com/Revkin/status/1024647984204722177 I also have a short essay in National Geographic Magazine providing my reflection on the last 30 years of climate inaction -- drawing on my experience as a reporter covering almost every facet of global warming since 1988: http://j.mp/revkinNGS A longer piece on this by me is here: http://j.mp/revkin30yearsclimate

What Everyone Gets Wrong About Global Warming

04:00
Throughout this video I say "probability curve" when a statistician would say "probability distribution." I just want to say that I'm aware of this, and that it's a choice I intentionally made because I felt like it made it easier to understand. While I would very much like to get deep into probability functions, what they mean, and how they work, I don't know if that's necessary to understand the world with curves. And this isn't just about climate and weather, pretty much everything is better understood if it's understood in terms of probability functions. And I generally like to see the world not for the collapsed reality dot, but for the function underneath. It's why winning at gambling always feels empty to me, I know that the underlying function has my losing even if happened to get lucky. So, in a way, gambling is always losing, even if you win. I know I'm an armchair statistician, and that lots of people will be annoyed by the language in this video, but I hope you can forgive me! Climate Change: What Do Scientists Say?

05:05
Climate change is an urgent topic of discussion among politicians, journalists and celebrities...but what do scientists say about climate change? Does the data validate those who say humans are causing the earth to catastrophically warm? Richard Lindzen, an MIT atmospheric physicist and one of the world's leading climatologists, summarizes the science behind climate change. I’ve published more than 200 scientific papers. For 30 years I taught at MIT, during which time the climate has changed remarkably little. But the cry of “global warming” has grown ever more shrill. In fact, it seems that the less the climate changes, the louder the voices of the climate alarmists get. So, let’s clear the air and create a more accurate picture of where we really stand on the issue of global warming or, as it is now called—“climate change.” There are basically three groups of people dealing with this issue. Groups one and two are scientists. Group three consists mostly, at its core, of politicians, environmentalists and the media. Group one is associated with the scientific part of the United Nation’s International Panel on Climate Change or IPCC (Working Group 1). These are scientists who mostly believe that recent climate change is primarily due to man’s burning of fossil fuels—oil, coal and natural gas. This releases C02, carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere and, they believe, this might eventually dangerously heat the planet. Group two is made up of scientists who don’t see this as an especially serious problem. This is the group I belong to. We’re usually referred to as skeptics. We note that there are many reasons why the climate changes—the sun, clouds, oceans, the orbital variations of the earth, as well as a myriad of other inputs. None of these is fully understood, and there is no evidence that CO2 emissions are the dominant factor. But actually there is much agreement between both groups of scientists. The following are such points of agreement: 1) The climate is always changing. 2) CO2 is a greenhouse gas without which life on earth is not possible, but adding it to the atmosphere should lead to some warming. 3) Atmospheric levels of CO2 have been increasing since the end of the Little Ice Age in the 19th century. 4) Over this period (the past two centuries), the global mean temperature has increased slightly and erratically by about 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit or one degree Celsius; but only since the 1960’s have man’s greenhouse emissions been sufficient to play a role. 5) Given the complexity of climate, no confident prediction about future global mean temperature or its impact can be made. The IPCC acknowledged in its own 2007 report that “The long-term prediction of future climate states is not possible.” For the complete script, visit https://www.prageru.com/videos/climate-change-what-do-scientists-say

Main-Stream-Scientists Screw Up Communicating Abrupt Climate Change

15:00
I continue on my last video's chat about the widely viewed New York Magazine article by Wallace-Well's on the "Uninhabitable Earth". Everyone agrees that this article hit a nerve with Main-Stream-(Media:MSM; Scientists: MSS) and the public. We all hear over and over, from Main-Stream-Scientists), that climate change is occurring "faster than expected". Think about what this means. It means that what is expected is completely wrong. What will, and is happening is way worse that what MSS are saying, and what MSM is reporting. The public needs the truth, and not some sugarcoated MSM/MSS bullshit. Telling this truth is my job. This 360 video shows how climate change is affecting the world’s reefs and oceans. Subscribe to TIME ►► http://po.st/SubscribeTIME Half of the world’s coral reefs have died in the last 30 years. New research in the journal Nature shows that even if people succeed in protecting reefs from pollution and overfishing, global warming remains a deadly threat. In The Crystal Reef, viewers meet marine scientist Dr. Fio Micheli and see the effects of climate change. With Micheli, viewers explore a rocky reef off the coast of Italy to learn about ocean acidification and the toll that human-produced carbon dioxide is taking on the reef. The Crystal Reef was produced by Cody Karutz. He worked with Stanford University’s Virtual Human Interaction Lab (VHIL) to create the experience. No Global Warming For 17 Years, 11 Months

00:48
For at least three decades scientists and environmental activists have been warning that the world is on the verge of a global warming “apocalypse” that will flood coastal cities, tear up roads and bridges with mega-storms and bring widespread famine and misery to much of the world. The only solution, they say, is to rid the world of fossil fuels — coal, natural gas and oil — that serve as the pillars of modern society. Only quick, decisive global action can avert the worst effects of manmade climate change, warn international bodies like the United Nations, who say we only have decades left — or even less! Of course, human civilization has not collapsed, despite decades of predictions that we only have years left to avert disaster. Ten years ago, the U.N. predicted we only had “as little as eight years left to avoid a dangerous global average rise of 2C or more.” This failed prediction, however, has not stopped the U.N. and others from issuing more apocalyptic statements. To celebrate nearly three decades of dire predictions, The Daily Caller News Foundation put together this list of some of the most severe doomsday prophecies made by scientists, activists and politicians: 1. Apocalyptic warnings on repeat -- A group of 1,700 scientists and experts signed a letter 25 years ago warning of massive ecological and societal collapse if nothing was done to curb overpopulation, pollution and, ultimately, the capitalist society in which we live today. The Union of Concerned Scientists put out a second letter earlier this year, once again warning of the dire consequences of global warming and other alleged ecological ills. Now numbering 15,000, the group warns “soon it will be too late to shift course away from our failing trajectory, and time is running out.” “We must recognize, in our day-to-day lives and in our governing institutions, that Earth with all its life is our only home,” the scientists and experts warned. It’s a terrifying warning — if you ignore the fact that none of their 1992 warning has come to fruition. -- 2. The planet will be “uninhabitable” by the end of the century -- New York Magazine writer David Wallace-Wells published a 7,000-word article claiming global warming could make Earth “uninhabitable” by “the end of this century.” Wallace-Wells’s article warned of terrors, like “Heat Death,” “Climate Plagues,” “Permanent Economic Collapse” and “Poisoned Oceans.” -- “Indeed, absent a significant adjustment to how billions of humans conduct their lives, parts of the Earth will likely become close to uninhabitable, and other parts horrifically inhospitable, as soon as the end of this century,” Wallace-Wells wrote. 3. Prince Charles’s global warming deadline passed…and nothing happened -- Prince Charles famously warned in July 2009 that humanity had only 96 months to save the world from “irretrievable climate and ecosystem collapse, and all that goes with it.” That deadline has passed, and the prince has not issued an update to when the world needs to be saved. Though the recently-released “Paradise Papers” show Charles lobbied U.K. lawmakers to enact policies that benefited his estate’s investment in a Bermuda company that does sustainable forestry. So, there’s that. -- 4. ‘Ice Apocalypse’ Now -- Liberal writer and climate scientist Eric Holthaus claimed manmade global warming would set off the “ice apocalypse” at a pace “too quickly for humanity to adapt.” Holthaus warned the wholesale collapse of two Antarctic glaciers — Pine Island and Thwaites — could happen sooner than previously believed, resulting in “flooding coastal cities and creating hundreds of millions of climate refugees.” Sounds terrible, but his conclusions aren’t really backed up by the science. The Global Warming Scare Begins: Roger Revelle 1980

01:24:54
Roger Revelle - The Godfather of the Global Warming Alarm. The story begins with an Oceanographer named Roger Revelle. He served with the Navy in World War II. After the war he became the Director of the Scripps Oceanographic Institute in La Jolla in San Diego, California. Revelle co-authored a scientific paper with Suess in 1957—a paper that raised the possibility that the atmospheric carbon dioxide might be creating a greenhouse effect and causing atmospheric warming. The thrust of the paper was a plea for funding for more studies. Funding, frankly, is where Revelle's mind was most of the time. Revelle hired a Geochemist named David Keeling to devise a way to measure the atmospheric content of Carbon dioxide. In 1958 Keeling published his first paper showing the increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and linking the increase to the burning of fossil fuels. These two research papers became the bedrock of the science of global warming. An environmental movement had been established and its funding and very existence depended on having a continuing crisis issue. Roger Revelle’s research at the Scripps Institute had started a wave of scientific inquiry. So the concept of uncontrollable atmospheric warming from the increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels became the cornerstone issue of the environmental movement. One of Revelle's students, Al Gore, took the alarm to heart. Revelle and Keeling used this new alarmism to keep their funding growing. Other researchers with environmental motivations and a hunger for funding saw this developing and climbed aboard as well. The research grants flowed and alarming hypotheses began to show up everywhere. The Keeling curve continues to show a steady rise in CO2 in the atmosphere during the period since oil and coal were discovered and used by man. Carbon dioxide has increased from the 1958 reading of 315 to 385 parts per million in 2008. But, despite the increase, CO2 is still only a trace gas in the atmosphere. Several hypotheses emerged in the 70s and 80s about how this tiny atmospheric component of CO2 might cause a significant warming. But they remained unproven. As years have passed, the scientists have kept reaching out for evidence of the warming and proof of their theories. And, the money and environmental claims kept on building up. Back in the 1960s, this global warming research came to the attention of a Canadian born United Nation's bureaucrat named Maurice Strong. He was looking for issues he could use to fulfill his dream of one-world government. From there, the IPCC and other UN agencies were formed - and the alarm spread to world-wide proportions. However; while the alarm was being spread by the UN for their own purposes, and NGO's and Gore had latched onto the cause for their purposes, Revelle had retired, and had no more need for funding. By the 1980's he had started to have second thoughts about the role of CO2 in the climate system. In 1988 he wrote two cautionary letters to members of Congress. He wrote, "My own personal belief is that we should wait another 10 or 20 years to really be convinced that the greenhouse effect is going to be important for human beings, in both positive and negative ways." He added, "…we should be careful not to arouse too much alarm until the rate and amount of warming becomes clearer." In 1991, Revelle teamed up with Chauncey Starr, founding director of the Electric Power Research Institute and Fred Singer, the first director of the U.S. Weather Satellite Service, to write an article for Cosmos magazine. They urged more research and begged scientists and governments not to move too fast to curb greenhouse CO2 emissions because the true impact of carbon dioxide was not at all certain, and curbing the use of fossil fuels could have a huge, negative impact on the economy, jobs, and our standard of living. Dr. Singer says that Revelle was considerably more certain than he was at the time that carbon dioxide was not a problem. See the paper here; http://ossfoundation.us/projects/environment/global-warming/myths/revelle-gore-singer-lindzen/cosmos-myth/Cosmos_article.pdf Gore claimed at the time that Revelle had 'gone senile'.

Want to make money in stock photography? Photograph Global Warming!

17:12
It’s well known in the business of stock photography, that photographs of news worthy subjects sell and sometimes very well. It’s important for outdoor photographers to create images the markets will want. Paparazzi’s for example, have been known to make a fortune capturing images of celebrities in ‘news making’ situations. With some foresight and good ideas, so can nature photographers. Many Outdoor photographers shoot a variety of subjects that have to do with the outdoors, nature, and how humans interact with the outdoors, but often they lack that news making ingredient. Many of those images often languish waiting for a buyer, if there ever is one. There is already a huge glut in superb imagery of most outdoor subjects. Taking note of what’s in the news related to anything outdoors such as nature, the environment, and even the politics surrounding all of it, can be quite profitable. So if you are wondering what to shoot here is one idea that I believe would do well in todays markets: Global Warming and I am going to show one image I created in just a moment. There is really nothing new here when shooting stock photos of concepts. It’s just the times have changed some. My stock agents suggested 25 years ago that we shoot ‘pollution’ and ‘green’ and the ‘environment’ so as I ventured across the lower 48 in my pickup camper for two years where I photographed the parks and scenery, I also captured the smokestacks, river pollution, livestock feed lots, and anything I could put in front of the camera that said ‘pollution’ and ‘environment.’ Today however, the hot keyword is Global Warming and if you wonder whether there is a market for images that deal with that topic, just do an online search. You can find articles covering all angles of the topic on news site like CNN and if you look at sites like Getty Images you will find a vast array of images captured on location across the globe as well as conceptual images that were be created on the computer. Images of real icebergs melting to digital composites showing a lawn turning to cracked mud, it all boils down to the same idea or concept. You certainly can be out chasing tornadoes, heading to the Arctic for melting icebergs, or be the first camera on scene after the next devastating hurricane. But you can create images with a strong chance of selling by generating an idea and then executing it on the computer. Then once you get the images captured or created, get them online quickly and for sale. Charlie Borland has been a professional photographer for over to 30 years. Based in Oregon, he shoots both locally and nationally for a wide range of corporate, advertising, and editorial clients. He has won numerous awards for his photography and for 7 years in a row he received recognition and awards for annual reports he has photographed. Charlie has also been actively involved in shooting and selling stock photography throughout his career and operated a stock photo agency for 8 years before merging with Definitive/FPG and later Getty Images. He is currently co-owner of Fogstock, (www.fogstock.com), an online agency he co-founded. His stock, nature, and adventure imagery has been used thousands of times worldwide, including over 1000 calendar credits: National Geographic Adventure and Traveler, Outside, Women's Sport and Fitness, Newsweek, TV Guide, CIO, Sports Illustrated for Women, Time, Backpacker, Sunset, American Photo, Outdoor Photographer, Eco Traveler, Southern Bell, and many more. Al Gore: God Has Told Me To Fight Global Warming

05:16
Al Gore claims to have received divine intervention from God who he says told him to lead the world in tackling man-made global warming. Speaking to Interview Magazine, the debunked Democrat compared his fight against climate change to the battles fought by the women’s suffrage movement. He insists that it is a moral duty for humans to fight global warming – and urged the public to have faith in the science, even though most scientists agree that humans are not responsible for climate change. Breitbart reports: “Regarding the climate movement,” Gore said warming to his point, “there are people who say, ‘God is in complete control of everything that happens, and if the Earth is getting warmer, then maybe God intends that.’” Gore then rejected that conceit. “Well, no,” the million-dollar mansion-owing former veep insisted. “God intends for us to take responsibility for how we treat God’s creation, and if we choose to use the thin shell of atmosphere surrounding our planet as an open sewer for 110-million tons of global-warming pollution every day, the consequences are attributable to us.” He concluded saying, “And if you are a believer, as I am, I think God intends for us to open our eyes and take responsibility for the moral consequences of our actions.” Al Gore is a joke! Climate Change Hoax - Private Banksters at the Heart of Global Warming Hysteria

11:22
Climate Change Hoax: Private banksters at the heart of global warming hysteria. Quick: what's the first thing you remember about the climate conference in Paris? The weather astrologers absurd resolution to control the amount of temperature rise the world will experience over the next century? Politicians grandstanding on the freshly dead victims of their latest false flag to proclaim that their global warming nonsense was a powerful rebuke to their proxy terror army in Syria? The predictable but no less wretch inducing hypocrisy of the jet set glitterati descending on Paris in their private jets and limousine fleets, to dine on banquet lunches from Michelin starred chefs before lecturing humanity on how we all have to tighten our belts for the new climate austerity? Of course that's what you remember. Because that's what you were expected to remember. As long as you never peak under the hood, never lift the lid to check what's inside the COP 21 documents, they're perfectly happy for the usual drivel about saving the planet to be printed in the mainstream press. Judith A. Curry is an American climatologist and former chair of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research interests include hurricanes, remote sensing, atmospheric modeling, polar climates, air-sea interactions, and the use of unmanned aerial vehicles for atmospheric research. She is a member of the National Research Council's Climate Research Committee. Curry is the co-author of Thermodynamics of Atmospheres and Oceans (1999), and co-editor of Encyclopedia of Atmospheric Sciences (2002), as well as over 140 scientific papers. Among her awards is the Henry G. Houghton Research Award from the American Meteorological Society in 1992. Regarding climate change, she thinks that the IPCC reports typically neglect what she calls the "Uncertainty Monster" in projecting future climate trends, which she calls a "wicked problem." While Judith Curry supports the scientific opinion on climate change, she has argued that climatologists should be more accommodating of those skeptical of the scientific consensus on climate change. Curry has stated she is troubled by what she calls the "tribal nature" of parts of the climate-science community, and what she sees as stonewalling over the release of data and its analysis for independent review. Global Warming & Climate Change transportation solutions

There are three battery breakthroughs in this electric pickup truck. An electric vehicle produces a fraction of the carbon emissions of a gasoline-burning vehicle. EV run from Revived Batteries - Ammerter - Lions Gate Bridge. Due to several battery breakthroughs, you'll see a relatively low current draw while world's first licensed electric pickup goes up Lions Gate Bridge from Stanley Park approach. Long climb uphill. Most EV's have a hard time going up from this side without drawing 400+ Amps, thereby killing the battery pack. Check out my other videos on YouTube of this truck. You can do a googly search for "world's first revived batteries electric pickup truck" (without the double quotes) and read the EV Diary pages, parts 1-7, on the Internet. There are three battery breakthroughs on this electric pickup truck, that allow the use of 'dead batteries' in a wacky, mix-n-match, odd-sizes, way. Gel and AGM batteries of whatever size (whatever could be scrounged up from the scrap-battery pile) were used to power this pickup truck. To reduce pollution at the same time, as batteries no longer have to go through an industrial-recycling (shredding of batteries) for ReUse. The story appeared on Global TV news, Vancouver Sun, Burnaby Now, and the Burnaby New Westminister New Leader newspaper. Global TV brough their own battery guy to test the batteries before the story aired. Burnaby Now's photo guy (see webpages) did his own battery testing, too, before putting this story on their front page. These battery breakthroughs have the potential to lower global warming because electric vehicles (EV's) have 75% less carbon-footprint than a gasoline-burning vehicle, according to magazine articles. This may be the answer to the Climate Change problem this planet faces. Here's an EV Diary for this vehicle http://my-ev-diary.blogspot.com/ If you also want a Free Battery electric vehicle that costs 30 cents a day to operate: [email protected] * These nearly-free-energy emission-free electric vehicles should be in wider use. Tell your friends in Spain, Mexico, Italy, and the Philippines about this development!

New York Times Magazine Climate Change Issue - Panel Discussion

01:27:42
On August 5, 2018, the New York Times Magazine published a special issue devoted entirely to global warming. Writer Nathaniel Rich investigates what we understood about climate change in the 1980s, how close we came to taking national action, and why that effort failed, with enormous consequences since. The magazine also includes an aerial photo and video essay on climate-change impacts across the globe by photographer George Steinmetz. The project was made possible with the support of the Pulitzer Center. Please join us on Monday, September 10 at 5:30 p.m. for presentations by Nathaniel and George followed by a panel discussion with the Pulitzer Center’s Executive Director, Jon Sawyer, and moderated by Dr. Anthony Leiserowitz, Director of the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication.

Will humanity survive climate change?

08:25
So yeah, the headline is a bit dramatic, but at the same time not. Have you read the article that I´m talking about? For real, read it. It´s written and published by a serious magazine (New York Magazine) and all sources are specified. It´s not just some "fun list" of things that could end humanity. It´s serious stuff. And I think it´s true, we live in denial and do not have enough climate panic. It was SUPER difficult for me to record this video when I lack a lot of words in English. Hopefully you understod the most of it and didn't become to irritated. Oh well, I just wanted you to read the article so.. klick the link below and read IT ALL! Meet the Scientists Who Reject Global Warming, the Climate Realists

22:38
http://www.thenewamerican.com/tech/environment/item/22290-meet-the-climate-realists Though climate alarmists never tire of demonizing greenhouse gases and “fossil” fuels, hell has no fury equal to the venom they reserve for those maligned as “climate deniers.” “This is treason, and we need to start treating them as traitors,” spat environmentalist Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. at the 2007 Live Earth Concert at New Jersey’s Giants Stadium. NASA’s James Hansen testified before a congressional committee in 2008 that “CEO’s of fossil energy companies … should be tried for high crimes against humanity and nature.” A 2009 Talking Points Memo article reached bloodthirsty pitch by asking, “At what point do we jail or execute global warming deniers?” Earlier, in 2006, the environmental news magazine Grist wrote that “we should have war crimes trials for these bastards — some sort of climate Nuremberg.” The smear campaign involves more than mudslinging and threats. In a May Washington Post op-ed, Democrat Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island called on the Obama administration to investigate and prosecute the “climate denial network” under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). More recently, New York’s attorney general, Eric Schneiderman, ordered an investigation of whether Exxon Mobil has lied to the public and investors about its contribution to global warming. The French government fired its chief meteorologist, Philippe Verdier, after the October release of his book, Climat Investigation, in which he criticizes alarmists in the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for having “taken the world hostage” with misleading and erroneous data.

Climate change 🌁: Are we all doomed? - UpFront

10:18
This month, the United States released an exhaustive scientific report on climate change, citing humans as the dominant cause of global warming. So, should we still be optimistic about humans' ability to combat climate change? And should we be worried about the possible doomsday scenarios that have been presented in the media? Or are these scenarios counter-productive? David Wallace-Wells, the author of a controversial article titled The Uninhabitable Earth, which paints a pessimistic doomsday scenario for planet Earth, believes people are not as worried as they should be about the grave consequences of climate change: "I think when you look at the public as a whole, it's just very, very clear to me, and honestly, I don't see a counter argument, that the public is not alarmed enough about what is possible and not motivated enough by that alarm to take political action," says Wallace-Wells, who is also a deputy editor at New York Magazine. For Andrew Freedman, senior science editor at Mashable, we need a more level approach: "Is climate change fatalism a bigger problem than climate complacency?" asks Freedman, who is also a former science writer at Climate Central. "I think they're both big problems. Neither one of them is necessarily a solution. I would prefer, like, climate change realism here." In this week's Arena, David Wallace-Wells and Andrew Freedman debate how to cover climate change in a way that motivates the public to action. The Great Global Warming Debate

02:21
Former US Vice President Al Gore, Nature and Science magazines and the news media are all proclaiming that man is responsible for global warming. Their alarmist call to action is that we need to act now before the climate becomes uncontrollable and most of the world overheats. The cultural confusion is rampant. Atmospheric scientist, Michael Oard, examines the observed data and concludes that global warming is small, natural processes are responsible for more than 50%, and that we have time for unbiased research. IS ISLAMOPHOBIA ACCELERATING GLOBAL WARMING?

01:34
According to a description of the event, the talk examined “the relation between Islamophobia as the dominant form of racism today and the ecological crisis.” Perhaps Hage didn’t get the memo that Islam is a belief system, not a race. According to Hage, Islamophobia and global warming are connected because they both originate “in colonial forms of capitalist accumulation.” Hage also has a book coming out soon entitled Are racists responsible for global warming? Theologian George Igler summed up the ludicrousness of the issue best when he tweeted, “This lecture took place at MIT, the world’s foremost scientific research establishment, on Monday at 5pm. Seriously.” This is yet another example of the regressive left’s obsession with intersectionality, in other words – everything that they claim is a form of oppression (which in the world of perpetually offended grievance junkies is literally everything) is tied in with everything else. However, it’s by no means the first time that the mythical boogeyman of “Islamophobia” has been blamed for real world issues. As Robert Spencer highlighted, back in February Time Magazine featured an article by Haroon Moghul which argued that Islamophobia was also the cause of America’s crumbling infrastructure. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Hillary Uses Dallas Tragedy As a Decoy" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfF1SmplWYY -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-
