How to update to newest mac OS High Sierra from older mac pro with Lion X

07:00
https://solutionswireless.blogspot.com Quick tutorial on how update to High Sierra Os from later model mac pro 2011-2012 with pre-installed Lion X 10.7.5. Do know that the Lion X OS is not the same as the OS X Mountain Lion. So In order to update the High Sierra OS you need to first get OS X Mountain Lion downloaded onto your Mac to get your mac version from 10.7 to 10.8 first, otherwise it will not let you update directly from 10.7 to the newest software. Where to get OS X Mountain Lion (10.8)? Step 1: You Do need to purchase this and downloaded onto your Mac book pro. (recommended, because this will save you time and getting a legit product) Here's the Link to the OS X Mountain Lion https://www.apple.com/shop/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion Step2: Once you have OS X Mountain Lion(10.8) installed, you then can upgrade to the High Sierra Os for Free. Living With Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard for 1 Week in 2018

I live with a Mid-2010 MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard for 1 week in 2018. Yes, this video was made entirely on a mid-2010 MacBook Pro running Mac OS X Snow Leopard using Final Cut Pro 7. Total render time was about 4 days for this entire video but it was definitely worth it! Snow Leopard is still pretty useful in 2018. It also includes Rosetta which allows PowerPC applications to run on Intel hardware! Twitter: https://twitter.com/CyberTimmie Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cybertimmie/ Thanks for watching!

Within the market of desktop, laptop and home computers, and by web usage, it is the second most widely used desktop OS after Microsoft Windows.[4][5] Launched in 2001, as Mac OS X, the series is the latest in the family of Macintosh operating systems. Mac OS X succeeded the "classic" Mac OS, which was introduced in 1984, and the final release of which was Mac OS 9 in 1999. An initial, early version of the system, Mac OS X Server 1.0, was released in 1999. The first desktop version, Mac OS X 10.0, followed in March 2001. In 2012, Apple rebranded Mac OS X to OS X. Releases were code named after big cats from the original release up until OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. Beginning in 2013 with OS X 10.9 Mavericks, Apple names macOS releases after landmarks in California.[6] In 2016, Apple rebranded OS X to macOS, adopting the nomenclature that it uses for their other operating systems, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS. The latest version of macOS is macOS 10.12 Sierra, which was publicly released in September 2016. macOS is based on technologies developed at NeXT between 1985 until 1997, when Apple acquired the company. The "X" in Mac OS X and OS X is pronounced "ten", as it is the Roman numeral for the number 10. The X was a prominent part of the operating system's brand identity, and was used to showcase its Unix compatibility; UNIX 03 certification was achieved for the Intel version of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard[7] and all releases from Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard up to the current version also have UNIX 03 certification.[8][9][10][11][12][13][14] macOS shares its Unix-based core, named Darwin, and many of its frameworks with iOS,[15] tvOS and watchOS. A heavily modified version of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger was used for the first-generation Apple TV.[16] Apple also used to have a separate line of releases of Mac OS X designed for servers. Beginning with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, the server functions were made available as a separate package on the Mac App Store. Releases of Mac OS X from 1999 to 2005 can run only on the PowerPC-based Macs from the time period. After Apple announced that they were switching to Intel CPUs from 2006 onwards, a separate version Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger was made and distributed exclusively with early Intel-based Macs; it included an emulator known as Rosetta, which allowed users to run most PowerPC applications on Intel-based Macs. ============= MY SETUP ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- processor Intel i3 4150 (LGA 1150): http://amzn.to/2hkyZIO cabinet Cooler Master Force 500: http://amzn.to/2h0XHgr Power supply Corsair CP-9020098-UK VS Series VS650 650 Watt Power Supply Unit: http://amzn.to/2gfvazp RAM Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 Memory Kit: http://amzn.to/2h7X8ik MOtHERBOARD GIGABYTE GA-H97M-D3H LGA 1150: http://amzn.to/2hkBI4L GRAPHICS CARD Gigabyte GeForce GV-N950OC-2GD 2GB Graphics Card: http://amzn.to/2hpwd0Y MONITOR dell d2015hf: http://amzn.to/2gGkcnW MICROPHONE blue snowball ice: http://amzn.to/2gfpipX POP FILTER http://amzn.to/2hkt5HA BOOM ARM http://amzn.to/2gGnMOC KEYBOARD AND MOUSE Logitech MK200 Media Wired Keyboard and Mouse Combo: http://amzn.to/2h7WwcH WEBCAM Logitech C270 HD Webcam: http://amzn.to/2gfA1Rs USB WIFI ADAPTER TP-Link TL-WN725N 150Mbps :http://amzn.to/2hksV2P ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- check out my other videos on channel ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/feelthetech/ instagram https://www.instagram.com/fahadmapari/ twitter https://www.twitter.com/MapariFahad/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- like, share and subscribe to show support. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- thank you for watching --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- nothing here to read

An operating system (OS) is a collection of software that manages computer hardware resources and provides common services for computer programs. For hardware functions such as input and output and memory allocation, the operating system acts as an intermediary between programs and the computer hardware,[1][2] although the application code is usually executed directly by the hardware and will frequently make a system call to an OS function or be interrupted by it. Operating systems can be found on almost any device that contains a computer—from cellular phones and video game consoles to supercomputers and web servers. Examples of popular modern operating systems include Android, BSD, iOS, Linux, OS X, QNX, Microsoft Windows, Windows Phone, and IBM z/OS. All these, except Windows, Windows Phone and z/OS, share roots in UNIX. Mac OS X Snow Leopard (version 10.6) is the seventh major release of Mac OS X, Apple's desktop and server operating system for Macintosh computers. Snow Leopard was publicly unveiled on June 8, 2009 at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. On August 28, 2009, it was released worldwide,[4] and was made available for purchase from Apple's website and its retail stores at the price of US$29 for a single-user license. As a result of the low price, initial sales of Snow Leopard were significantly higher than that of its predecessors.[5] The release of Snow Leopard came nearly two years after the introduction of Mac OS X Leopard, the second longest time span between successive Mac OS X releases (the time span between Tiger and Leopard was the longest).

Video demonstration of how I was able to install a retail purchase of Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 and update to version 10.6.6 on an ASUS P7P55D. I used iBoot 2.6 as a bootloader and MultiBeast 3.0.3 from tonymacx86.com in order to patch the installation. I installed an ASUS ENGTX470 graphics card using the Official NVIDIA Quadro 4000 driver pkg version 256. This video demonstration is tailored specifically to installing on my ASUS P7P55D, however it may act as a guide for anyone installing a retail purchase of Mac OS X Snow Leopard on any of the P7P55D series motherboards. I have included ONLY the essential steps and installation choices to get OS X Snow Leopard running. All credit goes to the tonymacx86 team for their continued effort and support. How to Rescue Mac 10.6 Snow Leopard

09:42
Welcome to my pants. The full details are written here for your reading pleasure, to see if I can keep my late-2008 MacBook going on OS 10.6 Snow Leopard. You may wonder why I don't just upgrade to the next available Mac operating system 10.7 Lion, or to the next one 10.8 Mountain Lion, or to current one, 10.9 Mavericks. I went to the Apple Store a couple years ago, and by that discussion and my reading of current technical articles, my 6 year old MacBook Hard Drive (not a MacBook Pro) cannot handle the next upgrade to 10.7 Lion. Apple changed the design of the HD after 2008. So, after reading about Apple no longer supporting 10.6 Snow Leopard, I must either buy a new computer, which I prefer to wait one to two more years for budgeting reasons, or learn to live with a computer that no longer receives Apple updates. Several technical articles suggested for security those with OS 10.6 no longer use Preview (to preview your documents before you print them), QuickTime, Safari browser (Google Chrome and Firefox still function with OS 10.6), nor iChat. I only chat on FB and YT anyway, so the deletions I just completed off my old MacBook were: iChat, Safari, Preview. QuickTime I moved to the Trash as a holding place for it. I will take it from the trash as need to render my iMovie films to .mov but even when in the trash it appears iMovie will create a YT-friendly .mov file by choosing Share, Export, and saving it to a documents folder, and NOT use Share, Export Using QuickTime. It doesn't seem logical to me that iMovie is opening QuickTime from the trash to create this .mov file which I also uploaded here to YT! I may be too afraid to trash QuickTime permanently. I added VLC as an open source (free) media player but I have in testing it learned it plays any media file and still works with Snow Leopard, but it does not serve to convert files to other extensions like .mov. Finished iMovie Projects are saved as .rcproject in iMovie, and they do not upload to YouTube directly. Clicking in iMovie, Share to YouTube, does not work. The best way to upload to YT is to open YT, press Upload, and then choose your computer file. I have iMovie 11 (iLife). I still film with an old HD Flip Cam and those files are .mp4 (mpeg) which upload fine to YT. However mine would be unedited. Once you move the film to iMovie to edit it, you end up creating the non-YT-friendly .rcproject file which needs to be converted to .mov or another of the files more upload friendly as stated on YT's help page. You do not need to preview your documents in order to print them, but if you want to, you can save them as .pdf, and open them with Adobe Reader, and in there you see in lower right corner how they would look before finally printing them. iTunes and iPhoto are so far not affected. I already had Google Chrome so I added Mozilla Firefox as an alternate browser, and it also still works with OS 10.6. I have just recently discovered that a MacBook system application (Installer) does NOT work to download one app that I am being prompted to upgrade: Adobe Flash Player (not to be confused with Adobe Reader). How does that impact me? So far one of the websites I have bookmarked will not open with the old version of Adobe Flash Player. I have not yet had any other problems but will let you know in another techy vlog. If Apple continues to create a new OS annually, and cease support of the one that is 3-4 years old, my next computer for budgeting reasons may need to be a Windows based laptop, as I cannot afford Apple's high-end computers every 3-4 years. I welcome any comments or ideas you may have if you are trying to keep using Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard. UPDATE 1-2-15: Special thanks to LoriMar3 for our discussion. I was lucky to have bought the "aluminum" body late-2008 MacBook. Although it could not handle an upgrade to Lion 10.7 a few years ago per Apple, because that OS required 4GB RAM, the newest Yosemite 10.10.1, and perhaps some other prior OS, only requires 2 GB RAM memory. I successfully downloaded OS Yosemite today, and so far so good! Be patient... the download over high speed internet takes up to 3 hours. The information in this vlog will still be relevant to those who purchased a 2008 or older white MacBook. New Subscribers are always welcome! A thumbs up is always appreciated too :D Please leave a comment below! and Share with your friends! The Upgrade from Mac OS X Tiger to Mac OS X Snow Leopard

02:01
Often running a newer OS on an older system can result in a significant performance drop that greatly affects its usability. As a result, many people are cautious to upgrade their Macs running Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger" to v10.6 "Snow Leopard". In this video, I compare the performance of several aspects of the user interface and boot times of Tiger and Snow Leopard, giving current Tiger users an idea of how their Mac may perform running Snow Leopard. The computer used is a 17" Late 2006 iMac with the following spec's: - 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - 1 GB RAM (This is the minimum RAM required for Snow Leopard) - 128 MB of VRAM Snow Leopard requires a Macintosh computer with an Intel processor and at least 1 GB of RAM. To comply with the licence agreement for Snow Leopard, Tiger uses must purchase the Mac Box Set, which includes iLife '11 and iWork '09. I hope this video can assist your decision to upgrade. In my opinion, the upgrade from Mac OS X Tiger to Mac OS X Snow Leopard it is definitely worthwhile.

Installing Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 - 10.6.8 - ASUS P7P55D - iBoot 3.1.0 + MultiBeast 3.7.3

15:10
Video demonstration of how I was able to install a retail purchase of Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 and update to version 10.6.8 on an ASUS P7P55D. I used iBoot 3.1.0 for the bootloader and MultiBeast 3.7.3 from tonymacx86.com in order to patch the installation. I installed an ASUS ENGTX470 graphics card using the Official NVIDIA Quadro 4000 driver pkg version Retail_256.02.25f1v1. Graphics - The update will replace your NVIDIA drivers. If you're using a NVIDIA 4xx "Fermi" card, you will have to update to the latest official drivers BEFORE rebooting. Download the latest QUADRO driver update here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro-macosx-256.02.25f01-driver.html This is my final video on Mac OS X Snow Leopard installations which prepares OS X for the next major release dubbed "Lion". HOW TO: Do a Clean install of Mac OSX 10.7, 10.8, 10.9, 10.10, And 10.11

12:01
This is my How To Video for installing Mac OSX 10.7 on a MBP early 2011 but this will work on any system that currently has Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Yosemite, or El Capitan on it. All you need to do this is a system that already has 10.7-10.10 on it because as part of your original install it created a recovery partition and that is what we will be using. REMEMBER TO BACKUP YOUR DATA! Following this tutorial will wipe your hard drive clean and you will loose all your data YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED IF YOU GET "THE ITEM IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE" The reason you get this message is YOUR apple id is not associated to an apple operating system. In the 4 choices you get click "GET HELP ONLINE" This opens Safari. Click icloud and sign in with your apple id. Now you can go back to installing screen and the downloading will finally work because you have now shown apple id you've logged in from your computer. DO Not use someone else's apple id. You'll get all their apps.

How to Create a Mac OS X USB Boot Drive on Windows

06:53
This tutorial will help you create a bootable USB flash drive for your Mac on a Windows computer. In order for this to work you should have a USB flash drive. The one I used in my tutorial was 16GB in size, but it will work with any flash drive that is 8GB in size or higher. Open command prompt as an administrator and enter the following commands to convert your USB drive from MBR to GPT fomat: diskpart list disk select disk X (where X is the number of your USB flash drive) clean convert GPT create partition primary Transmac can be downloaded from AcuteSystems.com at http://www.acutesystems.com/scrtm.htm The application costs a one off fee of £59, however you can use Transmac without any restrictions for fifteen days. That's more than enough time to do what you need to do. If you search online for "OS X DMG Download" you will find many websites that host the DMG file for your Mac's operating system. It should be around 6GB in size. The website I used was http://macdrug.com/. Downloading directly from their server was super slow so I downloaded the DMG file via the torrent file available instead. Once you have your USB boot drive, you can boot up from the drive by inserting the USB drive into your Mac and then pressing the option (⌥) key as soon as your computer loads. This will allow you to select which drive you boot from. If you see the no/prohibited/forbidden symbol after selecting your USB drive to boot (it's like a circle with a line through it i.e. ø), try and go back into the recovery area by pressing command and R when your Mac is loading and unmounting the drive. There is a good discussion about this issue at http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/when-booting-from-usb-i-get-circle-with-line-through-it.1411034/ Some people had better luck entering into safe mode using command and S - see the discussion at http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/circle-slash-prohibitory-sign-and-spinning-gear-no-boot.683873/ There is a lot of great information about the prohibited symbol at https://bombich.com/kb/ccc4/help-my-clone-wont-boot too. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this so please leave a comment below. As always, if you enjoyed the video, please click like, share, and subscribe :) Thanks guys. (Intel users can use this guide too) System Specs: Dell Inspiron M5030 AMD Athlon II P360 Dual-Core Processor Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter 8GB DDR3 Ram Operating Systems: Windows 7, Ubuntu 11.10, Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 I will be showing you the steps in virtualbox because it's faster that way. Things you will need: http://www.4shared.com/zip/SqsMUPVl/Mac_OS_X_AMD.html All files in this link, snow leopard retail disk (not included). I also suggest you buy a wireless usb in case your wireless card is different from mine or airport decides not to work: http://www.amazon.com/USB-WiFi-Wireless-Internet-Adapter/dp/B004DMUZGU/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1326753150&sr=1-2 it come with a mini dvd and it has three folders each with a mac folder. Go inside each and install the packages then restart and once you log in plug in the wireless usb. PRESTEP: download the files and save them to a usb drive. Step 1. Open the folder and burn Empire Efi onto a CD/DVD and restart computer. (make sure to switch boot priority in BIOS at startup) Step 2: When it finishes loading eject Empire Efi and insert the Snow Leopard Retail Disk. (wait about ten seconds for it to the load then hit f5 and select it) Step 3: When you get to the language select screen select English then next Step 4: Go to Utilities at the top of the screen and select Disk Utility Step 5: Select the hard drive you are using and go to the partition tab. Step 6: If you want to install Windows afterwards make two partitions, go to options and select GUID Partition Table, name one of the partitions Mac OS X, then hit apply. (This will erase the entire hard drive so back up any important documents that you have in Windows) Step 7: Close Disk Utility and hit Continue, then hit Agree. Step 8: Select the partition that you want to install Snow Leopard on, THEN HIT CUSTOMIZE AND UNCHECK LANGUAGE TRANSLATIONS BECAUSE YOU DON'T NEED IT AND IT WILL ADD 4 HOURS TO THE INSTALL TIME! Step 9: Click Install. The installation process will take between 45 minutes to an hour, maybe a little longer. Step 10: After the install mine always says "Mac OS X could not be installed" if that happens to you just ignore it and restart. Step 11: Put Empire Efi back in and once it loads select your Mac OS X partition and hit the down key to select boot verbose.(ALWAYS BOOT VERBOSE!) Step 12: You should get to the setup screen which is pretty self-explanatory. Step 13: Once you are logged in plug in your usb drive and copy all the files to your desktop. Step 14: Run Update Helper and restart after it finishes. Step 15: Once you're back on run the 10.6.8 combo update. Step 16: Once it finishes DO NOT RESTART! Minimize the windows and open Kext Wizard Step 17: Check System/Library/Extensions then hit Execute. Step 18: Go to the installation tab and drag the four kexts into Kext Wizard, make sure System/Library/Extensions is selected and click Install. Step 19: Restart the computer Step 20: Comment or PM any problems or questions I will make another video when I figure out how to update to Lion.

Mac software downloads: A few tidbits about the Mountain Lion OS X

01:15
Check out http://macsoftwaredownloads.net for more of the Mac software downloads available for free or at ultra low costs. The Lion OS X typically costs more than the later OS X versions and is also available on the Mac Software Downloads website. The Mountain Lion OS X (OS X 10.8) was Apple's big update in 2012 and the precursor to the celebrated Mavericks OS X that was released in 2013. Like the new Apple OS X in the recent years, the Mountain Lion is available for download directly from the Apple App Store and this comes with a small cost of $20. Many Mac users worry about how to access the latest Apple Mac software downloads but these are freely available on the website http://macsoftwaredownloads.net in addition to the Apple Mac Store. The site also has the advantage of offering users earlier versions of the OSX including the Panther, the Leopard, the Snow Leopard and the Tiger OS X. Once you have downloaded a single copy of the Mac software, you can proceed and install it on several computers. You do not have to purchase multiple licenses of the Mountain Lion OS X. Apple still relies on its famed honor-based system in the distribution of the OS X. This feature is perfectly suited for the multi-Mac households that can also save a lot of money when using the Mac OS X. As opposed to the Apple way of upgrading from the immediate previous versions, the Mountain Lion can be installed directly from the Snow Leopard. For IT technicians involved in the Apple software upgrades, this is a huge sigh of relief. Upgrades from Snow Leopard and later versions is also recommended for the installation of the latest Apple OS X, the Mavericks OS X. The upgrades are however only possible when you are performing this from the latest Snow Leopard version, the 10.6.8. The Mountain Lion OS X is supported by several models of the Apple series. These include the iMacs from mid 2007 and later models, the Mac Mini from the early 2009 and many later models, the Mac Pro from the early 2008 and later models, the Mac Book Air from the late 2008 and later models and the MacBook Pro from the late 2007 and later models. There are some Mac models that will run the Lion OS X but cannot run the Mountain Lion OS X. Some of the unique features of the Mountain Lion include the Power Nap feature, and Dictation Capabilities. There is no Siri installed on the Mountain Lion yet but the dictation capabilities are quite elaborate and include support for various languages such as UK, US and AUS English, German, French and Japanese. One feature of the Mountain Lion OS X, like its successor the Mavericks OS X , is that it has borrowed heavily from the IOS, part of Apple's long held desire to unify the two platforms.
