In this video, I’m showing you a 4 step plan that can attack the most common posture flaws to give you a nice, tall, upright posture sooner than you think. I’m going to show you how to hit correct rounded shoulders, a hunched back, crooked neck, forward head and tilted pelvis. When you apply the easy drills shown here you will start to feel better almost instantly and work towards permanently fixing your bad posture. The four biggest problem areas for those with bad posture is the neck, shoulders, mid back and pelvis. Specifically, if you spend a lot of time sitting at a desk or behind the wheel you will wind up getting slumping shoulders and a rounded back. To counteract the head being pulled downward, you wind up tilting your head up so you can look straight ahead. This has the effect of overarching your neck and weakening the deep neck flexors. Finally, when the upper spine curves forward, the pelvis winds up curling under. This posterior pelvic tilt is something that adaptively tightens the hamstrings and weakens the lower back. If you want to fix your posture you have to hit each of these areas with individualized attention. These are efficient and effective but do need your consistency in order to make a lasting impact on the correction. The funny thing about posture is that we often spend a lifetime doing the things that ruin our posture in the first place, yet expect that we will be able to fix it in an hour. While not an hour, these posture correction exercises will have an immediate impact on the way you feel. You should feel as if you have more mobility in the tightened areas and that your body begins to move more free and easy. From here, with a bit of consistency you will be able to make permanent changes in your posture that will have you feeling stronger and looking much better than you do now. An important note on posture and working out, that I referenced earlier, is that it is not a good idea to lift weights when your body is severely out of alignment. All you are doing is strengthening poor posture and dysfunction. Lifting weights in the presence of dysfunction is quickly going to lead to not only other compensations elsewhere in the kinetic chain but likely wind up in injury. It is much smarter to fix the issues with your posture first and then strengthen your body to reinforce the new perfect posture. There are a lot of exercises out there that are plain bad for you & they only continue to exist just because they've been passed down from one misinformed gym to the next, & noones been smart enough to realize that these common exercises are no good. So today we're going over 10 exercises that all men should avoid & these exercises aren't only exclusive to men. Women should avoid these exercises as well it's just that in this video we'll be sticking to exercises that i usually find men doing wrong. The very first one that I want to start with is actually a group of exercises that guys are drawn to like moths to a flame. I'm talking about all the selectorizor ab machines at your local gym. The machines that you usually start by sitting down pulling out the pin, selecting your weight, then grabing some handles behind your head & doing crunches. These machines are not only a waste of time but they are also dangerous for your lower back. All these selectorizor ab machines are locked into a range of motion, meaning that your joints & your disks can't travel down their natural path, you can only travel down the path that the machine has set for you. Even if you adjust the machine to your body perfectly, which by the way is very hard to do, but even if you somehow had a machine customized for your body you can still easily run into lower back issues because you're still locked in a set range of motion throughout the entire exercise. Besides a greater potential for a lower back injury you will also get significantly less results from these machines than if you stuck to regular ab exercises like crunches, hanging knee tucks, & declined situps. The reason is once again due to the fact that your locked into a range of motion. The core's main responsibility is stabilization. And it's important to improve your functional core strength because your core isn't only responsible for stabilizing your trunk but it stabilizes your whole body. It is the bridge that connects your lower body to your upper body. When you're locked in a range of motion you take all of the stabilization normally required for ab exercises out of the movement. The really ironic part is that those abdominal stabilizer muscles that you're not working on these machines are very important to strengthen in order to prevent the lower back injury that you'll likely experience on one of these machines. Due to the fact that you're not working your stabilizers you're missing out on all of those deep tissue abdominal muscles like your transverse abdominus & your only targeting mostly your rectus abdominus which is the very outer layer six pack looking muscle. The transverse abdominus is very important to work because not only does it help prevent injury, but it also pulls your stomach in keeping everything nice & tight giving you that flat stomach look. If you want to make your ab exercises tougher use weights by simply holding a dumbbell or a plate either behind your head or accross your chest while doing regular traditional ab exercises. Once again if you don't know where to start start with exercises like stability ball crunches, declined situps, & hanging knee tucks. The next exercise you should avoid is the behind the head shoulder press. First off there is absolutely no advantage to going behind your head. None. Even though I'm sure some old school guys will be disagreeing with me in the comments below you can research this yourself & you'll find that when you go behind the head you're still targeting the same muscles that you would if you went in front of your head & there's no advantage when going behind your head that will allow you to build your shoulder muscle faster.

This is a video of a shoulder, neck, and head massage. I spend almost half of the entire massage on his shoulders and neck and the other half on his scalp. This time, my "client" is my dad. He is a big fan of having his shoulders massaged, so I dedicated quite a bit longer time than normal to this. He gets very tense, so almost everything that I do in this video is using a very firm pressure. Although, this was just a "normal" massage, my next video will contain either a brush or oil! Build big, strong athletic shoulders with this complete workout http://athleanx.com/x/get-cannonball-delts If you want to get big shoulders and wider delts you have to make sure that you are doing exercises for all three heads. In this video, I show you not just what shoulder exercises you should use to hit each of the front, middle and rear deltoids but why you should choose them. There’s nothing like a set of wide thick shoulders to make a statement that you not only lift, but that you lift smart. The front deltoids are the first area of attack in this workout. This muscle originates from the lateral third of the clavicle and inserts in the common area of the upper arm called the deltoid tuberosity. Based on the orientation of the muscle fibers of the anterior delt head, it makes sense that shoulder exercises that raise the arm to the front would preferentially influence this area. Things like the dumbbell front raise and even dumbbell shoulder press are commonly used to hit the front delt. That said, there is an even better way to hit this area of your shoulder if you look more closely at the orientation of the muscle. Check out the modified front cable raise that I show you here for an even better option to help you build huge shoulders much faster. Moving around to the side delts, you can see that this head originates from the acromion. This little bump at the top of your shoulder can probably be felt if you run your fingers over the area. From here the fibers run pretty much laterally, down the side of your arm to insert in the same place as the front delt. This positioning allows this head to have more control over shoulder exercises that raise your arm out to the side. Included in this group are the popular side lateral raises or side dumbbell raises, and the less common dumbbell high pulls. I even include a bodyweight only variation of the side lateral raise that helps those that are training at home and want a more effective way to build their side delts without equipment. In order to train your rear delts you need to include exercises that either extend the arm behind your body or take it into horizontal abduction. Exercises like seated rows or reverse flys are some of the best ways to target your rear deltoids. That said, the face pull may be one of the absolute best rear delt exercises and should make its way into any complete rear delt workout. Bigger wider shoulders in 90 days - http://athleanx.com/x/use-this Subscribe to this channel here - http://bit.ly/2b0coMW Shoulder stretches for your delts are often overlooked when it comes to a complete stretching routine. Not sure why this is, but regardless this is a problem that you cannot afford to keep making if you want to build bigger, healthier shoulders. In this video, I’m going to show you the three best stretches for your shoulders (front delt, middle delt and rear delt) and how to perform each by the time you are done watching. The key is to first understand the anatomy of the deltoid muscle as well as the individual heads. Once you know this, you can reverse engineer the functions of the muscle head to come up with the perfect stretch for each one. Beginning with the front deltoid, this muscle belly originates on the lateral one third of your clavicle or collar bone. From here, the muscle travels laterally and down your arm to a point on the outside of your upper arm bone. In order to get a good stretch on the anterior deltoid you will have to create as much of a gap as you can between these two points without sacrificing the integrity of your shoulder joint in the process. The best way to stretch your shoulder anterior delt is to clasp your hands behind your back and begin raising them up as high as you can. Once you have elevated your hands as high as they can go behind your back you now need to focus on getting that clavicle of yours to go as far forward as you can. This is easily achieved by pushing your chest forward as you squeeze your shoulder blades together. From here you should feel a great stretch on the front of your shoulder that you will want to hold for 45-60 seconds. Next, we move onto the middle delt. This is one of those areas of the delts that people actually do try and stretch, though unsuccessfully. This is because we forget to include one of the most important aspects of the stretch to really hit the middle delt. That is, flattening the arm across the chest to drop the insertion further away from the origin at the peak point of the stretch. This shoulder stretch is the one that is likely to make your shoulders feel so much better right away, simply because it is one that you probably haven’t felt this good before. Finally, we have to stretch out the rear head of the delts. This portion originates on the lateral aspect of the spine of your scapula. This is part of your shoulder blade and can be felt by reaching over your shoulder and grabbing onto the ridge that you feel on the top. From here, the posterior deltoid muscle runs around the side of the arm and down to the same point on the upper arm as the other heads. In order to really stretch this muscle head out you want to obviously bring your arm in front of your body (since the muscle brings it behind the body when it contracts). The issue here is that most people tend to want to lift the arm up as they bring it across their chest in order to better hit the rear delt. This is a mistake. Particularly if you have any type of shoulder impingement since this would create a shortening of the intra-articular space that could aggravate an already sore shoulder. Instead, scoop the elbow while dropping your shoulder a bit in order to keep the upward angle without having to risk the impingement that might come from simply lifting your shoulder up. As you can see, the deltoid is a muscle that needs stretching just like any other muscle. Simply thinking that there is only one stretch that will get the job done however is wrong. You need to stretch each head of the deltoid in a specific way if you want to do this most effectively. By incorporating the cheat side lateral exercise you can add significant weight to the exercise and as a result, size to your shoulders much more quickly. The trick is to not swing the weight up, but make sure that you muscle it up. From the top of the movement, you want to be sure that you slowly lower the weight down, concentrating on the eccentric part of the exercise to ensure that the deltoid is getting the brunt of the work. Continue to perform as many reps as you can until failure and incorporate this technique into your shoulder workout each time you perform it. You actually can see a difference in your shoulder size after even just one of these workouts. Not from actual shoulder muscle growth but more from the lingering pump that you will experience (not very common when doing shoulder workouts!) by training the muscles the right way. In this video you'll get a full shoulder workout. Starting with a big overall mass building movement, and then going into different isolation moves to hit all 3 heads of the deltoid muscles. For this workout I did 6 total shoulder exercises.
