Artifacts from the Lost Tomb of Alexander the Great (Full Length Version)

27:01
Comment from Harry Hubbard: "What you are about to explore is a chapter of ancient history that has been omitted or lost when referring to classical sources. It is also a very important chapter of North American history. Alexander Helios, Inc. had been pursuing this great archaeological discovery for several years. Unfortunately, as with many other historical sites, looting by the original discoverer has been a major obstacle in revealing the whole truth. Precious artifacts have been scattered about and sold to private collectors and many relics have suffered damage as a result. The looter on many occasions has threatened our lives and law enforcement has been unable to act due to the controversy surrounding this ancient site. According to the experts, such an archaeological deposit from the Mediterranean basin, now in North America, should not exist. Closed mindedness is a tragedy that plagues our academics. Whatever Happened In Marion County? In spring of 1925, a local resident, Orville Lowery, of Hickory Hill, in the southeast corner of Marion County Illinois, was busy with his two daughters removing rocks and debris from an area designated to be the family garden. His eldest daughter, Fern, who was six years old, began to explore along the ledge of the ravine next to the garden spot. Several feet away from the bluff, Fern discovered a hole cut through the sandstone by human hands. She called her father over to investigate the hole which he determined was of ancient origin. Orville worked diligently for years attempting to get professional investigators from the state of Illinois out to the site to examine this entrance into the subterranean cavity. Orville was met with futility as the Illinois experts sloughed off the idea that anything of ancient significance could possibly exist in the most remote regions of Marion County. However, Orville was able to get Fern's discovery recorded in the WPA journals in Salem, the county seat. Frustrated for lack of interest, Orville later sold his property and moved to Mt. Vernon about 20 miles away in the early 1930's, taking with him his two charming girls. Fern and her sister grew up in Mt. Vernon, got married and moved to different states forsaking all prior knowledge of their family discovery. Orville, likewise ceased to pursue attempting to arouse the bitter scholars who had neglected him so many times. All was quiet for decades, until one balmy day in early summer of 1961 when Michael Paul Henson, the most famous treasure guide writer in the country, approached Orville after reading about the discovery in the Salem courthouse. Excited at the renewed interest, Orville met with Henson and escorted him to the site of the ancient portal. Henson, the respected writer of lost treasure books, published the information he had obtained in subsequent releases. Others who often copied Henson's work also duplicated this twisted tale of discovery long after the death of Orville in 1974. In April of 1982, an ignorant Redneck from Olney, Illinois crisscrossed the coordinates of different treasure guides published years before in order to relocate the ancient portal. Upon finding the location again, he entered the cavern system and looted it to the tune of untold billions of dollars. The entrance was then filled in by the perpetrator of vicious crimes to cover up his misdeeds and hide the bodies of people he murdered in the early 1990's. It is here that our story begins. We became involved with the Lowery Cave Project in summer of 1994. Since that time, dozens of people have been searching for the entrance that the former Olney resident covered up after removing precious artifacts for 10 years. Today, these artifacts are sold on the antiquities black-market all over the world, commanding unbelievable prices. The state of Illinois disregards the site as a hoax in order to remove themselves of any responsibility they might have had to recover the artifacts and prosecute the intruder who plundered this incredible ancient Mediterranean mortuary. All the while, antiquities experts around the globe purchase the artifacts from Illinois unimpeded. The state of Illinois, in its laziness, has stood by and watched the scenario unfold before them with not a care in the world. We, however, will pursue this endeavor to whatever bitter end it leads us." *Any use of this video is restricted under terms of the Creative Commons license at http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/legalcode and at http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/ by Living Light Network http://livinglightnetwork.org International Common Law Copy Rights 2011 by Living Light Network http://livinglightnetowrk.org as applicable to any content, production, or publicity including, but not limited to, previous copyrights or other rights that are no longer valid or legally enforceable. Mystery Files - Alexander the Great

23:34
After his death, his body became one of the most sacred objects in history. Pilgrims, from the common man to the most powerful emperors, visited and knelt before the remains of their god-King. And then in the space of a generation, all trace of his tomb simply disappeared. What happened to Alexander's body? Was it destroyed by a tsunami? Did Christians intent on stamping out all trace of other religions destroy it? Or, as one historian believes, does it still exist, renamed and venerated as a saint in one of the most glorious Christian basilicas in the world? With no archaeological evidence indicating the location of the lost tomb we are forced to examine ancient eyewitness accounts of people who visited the tomb and place it in Alexandria.

13 Unexpected Archaeological Discoveries

11:24
From a 2600-year old palace in Iraq, to the legendary Rosetta Stone, Here are 13 Unexpected archaeological discoveries Subscribe to Epic Wildlife http://goo.gl/6rzs5u Let's Connect -- http://www.epicadamwildlife.com/ -- http://www.facebook.com/epicadamwildlife -- http://www.twitter.com/epicwildlife -- http://gplus.to/epicwildlife Nubian Pyramids The pyramids of Sudan are located more than 100 miles south of Khartoum (kar-TOOM), the capital of the country. The structures are found in the ancient city of Meroe (merr-oh-wee) … it was once the center of the Kush (koosh) kingdom … one of the oldest civilizations in the Nile region … and remained a power until the 4th century AD. The pyramids stand up to 100 feet tall … and the oldest buildings are thought to date back to around 720 BC. Experts note that all the the pyramids bear decorations that display the influences of ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome … and say the area’s most impressive structures are found at the necropolis of Meroe. While smaller in size than their Egyptian counterparts, the Nubian pyramids have a similar shape, rising from a foundation to a narrow point. But some of these pyramids have strange flat tops … that was a byproduct of explorers who pillaged the during the 19th century and reduced some sections to rubble. Machu Picchu -- This famous lost city lies almost 8,000 feet above sea level in the Andes Mountains of southern Peru ... and can only be accessed by train or a four day trek. Machu Picchu was built in the 15th century, possibly as an estate for an Incan emperor. It was abandoned around the time of the Spanish conquest. Although locals were aware of the city’s existence, it remained unknown to the Spanish during that period. It remained largely unknown to the world until 1911 when US historian Hiram Bingham brought it to the world’s attention. Machu Picchu was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007. Nazca Lines These well known ancient geoglyphs were found in the Nazca Desert of Peru … and were first referenced in print in 1553 by a Spanish conquistador. The largest figures measure up to 370 feet long … and the style ranges from simple to complex. Simple lines and geometric shapes give way to designs of humans and animals, to shapes resembling trees and flowers. While experts have determined the geoglyphs were created by the Nazca culture between 500 BC to 500 AD, there are still various theories as to what purpose the designs fulfilled. Some sources indicate the patterns may have held a religious significance of some sort. Contrary to common belief, you don’t need to be in an airplane to view the lines and figures … they can be seen from surrounding foothills. Rosetta Stone This famous artifact was discovered by a French soldier in 1799 during the Napoleonic Wars in Egypt. In 1801, British forces defeated the French in Egypt and took the massive stone into their possession. The stone was carved in 196 BC, with three scripts being used in Egypt at the time -- Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics used for important documents … demotic (dih-MOT-ik), which was a common script … and Ancient Greek, used by Egyptian rulers of the time. All three scripts describe a decree that was issued on behalf of King Ptolemy (TOL-uh-mee) V. It took at least 20 years before the scripts could be transliterated. The Rosetta Stone’s discovery led to the decipherment of hieroglyphics, insight to ancient Egyptian history, and the field of modern field of Egyptology. It’s been on display in the British Museum since 1802, and is the most visited artifact there.

The Dirty Secret at the Bottom of the Great Lakes: Oil & Water

17:17
The world's largest crude oil transporter has a secret buried deep in the Great Lakes—two aging oil pipelines that transport 23 million gallons of crude oil through the largest body of fresh water on earth. Enbridge, the company that operates the pipelines, insists that the two 20-inch pipelines stretching across the Straits of Mackinac could last indefinitely. But one look at the company’s environmental record tells another story: Enbridge had more than 800 spills in North America between 1999 and 2010, dumping nearly 6.8 million gallons of oil. The largest spill released one million gallons of oil into the Kalamazoo River, only a few hours drive away from the Mackinac Straits. Activists and advocates have independently verified that parts of the pipeline—built in 1953—are sitting unsupported on the bottom of the lake and in major need of repair. Motherboard travels to Michigan—oil spill central—to investigate the threats of crude oil being transported through one of the largest freshwater ecosystems in the world by a company with one of the most egregious environmental records. BBC In the Footsteps of Alexander The Great 3of4 Across the Hindu Kush

57:43
History Documentary narrated by Michael Wood and published by BBC in 1997 - English In 335 BC Alexander of Macedonia set off on an expedition to conqueror the world. The voyage of Alexander the Great covered more than 22,000 miles in ten years, from Greece to India and back, through some of the most difficult and unforgiving terrain. In 1996, more than 2000 years later, Michael Wood was hot on his trail, following, as closely as possible, in the footsteps of Alexander and the army that he drove to achieve the impossible. He did have the advantages of modern transport. Up to a point. Travelling by jeep, bus, truck, train, retired Russian ambulance and occasional lifts in helicopters, he discovered that some parts of the world are still completely inaccessible to anything but the feet of camels, mules, horses or occasionally humans.Leaving countless baffled border checkpoint guards in their wake, the crew travelled through 16 countries. They crossed post-Gulf War Iraq and entered Afghanistan during the rise of the Taleban. They crossed the Great Sea of Sand, the Great Salt Desert and the Desert of Death and climbed some of the highest mountain passes in the world. Across the Hindu Kush Wood travels through war-torn Afghanistan, crossing the Oxus River into Central Asia and the Silk Road city of Samarkand where, in a drunken brawl, Alexander killed the friend who had previously saved his life.

Tom Misch: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

17:25
June 1, 2018 | Bobby Carter -- I learned a few things while watching Tom Misch perform at the Tiny Desk that should've been obvious to a longtime fan like me: He produces beats with a live audience in mind. As much as his drums slap, guitar is the foundation for most of his songs and he showcases a burgeoning talent on the instrument throughout his set. I first caught wind of this UK wunderkind in 2014. Crafting his own instrumental projects and remixing tracks by artists ranging from Busta Rhymes to Lianne La Havas, Misch steadily garnered a dedicated following on SoundCloud. From there, he collaborated with other London artists and released EPs of original music on the platform. Misch's style doesn't revel in what's going on in pop music today; like a handful of other artists from the UK, his interpretation of hip-hop and R&B is a continuation of what the greats who came before him started. A healthy dose of that inspiration is drawn from the late J. Dilla, while Misch's up-tempo dance numbers align him with the Kaytranadas of the world. In 2016, Misch — still just 21 years old at the time — decided to dabble more in songwriting and explore that soothing timbre of his voice on Reverie, and all of a sudden, his potential rose exponentially. Misch and the band arrived bright and early to get situated behind the Tiny Desk and rehearse. Misch has said before that he isn't a jazz purist intrinsically, but the way he opens up a guitar solo or jams with saxophonist Braxton Cook, jazz music certainly runs through him. If you haven't heard of Tom Misch before this performance, now's a good time to catch up. Check out his breakthrough album, Geography, as well as his earlier collaborations, then come back and watch his Tiny Desk again for a true appreciation of his growth as an artist. SET LIST "It Runs Through Me" "I Wish" "Movie" MUSICIANS Tom Misch (guitar/vocals), Tobias Tripp (guitar/violin/vocals), James Creswick (bass), Jamie Houghton (drums), Joseph Price (keys), Braxton Cook (saxophone) CREDITS Producers: Sidney Madden, Morgan Noelle Smith; Creative Director: Bob Boilen; Audio Engineer: Josh Rogosin; Videographers: Morgan Noelle Smith, CJ Riculan, Beck Harlan; Production Assistant: Stefanie Fernández; Photo: Claire Harbage/NPR.

Tony Robbins: DON'T DOUBT YOURSEF ( Tony Robbins Depression )

26:11
Doubt. Doubt has made wise men fools, strong men weak, and sure things crumble. Doubt is an infectious disease of the mind that once in it can destroy even the strongest of mental structures. When a man doubts himself he limits himself greatly. Never doubt yourself. By doubting yourself you are hampering your progress and development. It would be just as logical to break your own leg. You have likely been told by others that doubt is good and that doubt keeps you grounded. But those others were lying to you and do not have your best interest in heart and if they did then they are fools who should not be listened too. Doubt has been talked about from the greats from all walks of life. Henry Ford famously said “If you think you can do a thing or you think you can’t, you’re right” and the Bible states “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.”. Throughout time by all who have achieved anything they had to master their mind and defeat their doubts. You should never doubt yourself and I am going to explain why.

How a Swamp Helped Runaway Slaves Find Freedom

03:54
The Great Dismal Swamp is a vast area straddling the border of eastern Virginia and North Carolina. An unforgiving environment, it played an important role in the history of slavery in the United States. Runaway slaves are believed to have lived in the Dismal Swamp, creating their own independent societies prior to the Civil War. For historian Eric Sheppard, the area holds a personal history. Like many others, his ancestor, Moses Grandy, is believed to have found refuge in the swamp. As more history comes to light in recent times, the lost stories of these brave survivors are finally being told. A huge thanks to our guest editor this week, Yvonne Orji. EGYPT, EXPLORING the ruins of ANCIENT ALEXANDRIA, a complete tour

29:24
SUBSCRIBE: http://www.youtube.com/c/VicStefanu - Let's visit the remaining ruins of ancient Alexandria which was founded around a small Ancient Egyptian town in 331BC by Alexander the Great. It became an important center of the Hellenistic civilization and remained the capital of Hellenistic and Roman and Byzantine Egypt for almost 1000 years until the Muslim conquest of Egypt in AD 641, when a new capital was founded at Fustat (later absorbed into Cairo). Hellenistic Alexandria was best known for the Lighthouse of Alexandria (Pharos), one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World; its Great Library (the largest in the ancient world; now replaced by a modern one); and the Necropolis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages. Alexandria was the second most powerful city of the ancient world after Rome. Ongoing maritime archaeology in the harbor of Alexandria, which began in 1994, is revealing details of Alexandria both before the arrival of Alexander, when a city named Rhacotis existed there, and during the Ptolemaic dynasty. Library Of Alexandria - The Treasures We Lost!!

46:23
Library Of Alexandria The Treasures We Lost!! (1996) Classic Documentary narrated by Leonard Nimoy phoenixXchannel The Ancient Library of Alexandria in Alexandria, Egypt, was one of the largest and most significant libraries of the ancient world. It was dedicated to the Muses, the Nine Goddesses of the Arts. It flourished under the patronage of the Ptolemaic Dynasty and functioned as a major center of scholarship from its construction in the 3rd century BC until the Roman conquest of Egypt in 30 BC, with collections of works, lecture halls, meeting rooms, and gardens. The library was part of a larger research institution called the Musaeum of Alexandria, where many of the most famous thinkers of the ancient world studied. The library was created by Ptolemy I Soter, who was a Macedonian general and the successor of Alexander the Great. Most of the books were kept as papyrus scrolls. It is unknown precisely how many such scrolls were housed at any given time, but estimates range from 40,000 to 400,000 at its height. According to popular description, an inscription above the shelves read: The Place of the Cure of the Soul. The library was but one part of the Musaeum of Alexandria, which functioned as a sort of research institute. In addition to the library, the Musaeum included rooms for the study of astronomy, anatomy, and even a zoo containing exotic animals. The classical thinkers who studied, wrote, and experimented at the Musaeum include the great names of mathematics, astronomy, physics, geometry, engineering, geography, physiology, and medicine. These included notable thinkers such as Euclid, Archimedes, Eratosthenes, Herophilus, Erasistratus, Hipparchus, Aedesia, Pappus, Theon, Hypatia, and Aristarchus of Samos. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Beyond Belief - Fact or Fiction BBFF1" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfCUB8Wbl9s -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: phoenixXchannel Classic Documentary Video Trailer - https://youtu.be/WaA78ti2X_A **Please Watch: The Southern Way of Life in America in the 1960's https://youtu.be/q6WWkp55YSM

Subscribe to Naked Science - http://goo.gl/wpc2Q1 Every Wednesday we present a full length documentary, so join us to see the truth laid bare... We live on a beautiful planet. Today our natural landscapes also boast manmade wonders, icons of engineering and architecture. So what are the world's modern wonders? We've compiled our top seven, from the tallest building on Earth, to the longest underwater tunnel, from aviation's greatest airliner, to engineering's greatest work of art. These are our modern wonders! The great engineering achievements of the modern world are more than purely functional. The visionaries who dreamed up their imposing shapes used art and science to create structures of dramatic beauty. Our bridges, dams, and skyscrapers, dominate our landscapes, as the pyramids dominated those of ancient Egypt. They're testaments to the creative genius of humankind. In this film we tunnel under, climb up, jump off, and fly with, the greatest marvels the modern world has to offer. 2002 documentary for the Travel Channel, including the following subjects : Brooklyn Bridge The Brooklyn Bridge is a bridge in New York City and is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Completed in 1883, it connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn by spanning the East River. It has a main span of 486.3 metres and was the first steel-wire suspension bridge constructed. Petronas Towers The Petronas Towers, also known as the Petronas Twin Towers are twin skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat official definition and ranking, they were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004. The buildings are a landmark of Kuala Lumpur, along with nearby Kuala Lumpur Tower. Concorde Aérospatiale-BAC Concorde is a retired turbojet-powered supersonic passenger airliner or supersonic transport. Concorde was jointly developed and produced by Aérospatiale and the British Aircraft Corporation under an Anglo-French treaty. First flown in 1969, Concorde entered service in 1976 and continued commercial flights for 27 years. Eiffel Tower The Eiffel Tower is an iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars in Paris. It was named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. Erected in 1889, it was initially criticised by some of France's leading artists and intellectuals for its design, but has become both a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. Hoover Dam Hoover Dam, once known as Boulder Dam, is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the U.S. states of Arizona and Nevada. It was constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression and was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Panama Canal The Panama Canal is a 77.1 kilometre ship canal in Panama that connects the Atlantic Ocean (via the Caribbean Sea) to the Pacific Ocean. The canal cuts across the Isthmus of Panama and is a key conduit for international maritime trade. There are locks at each end to lift ships up to Gatun Lake, an artificial lake created to reduce the amount of excavation work required for the canal, 26 metres above sea level. Channel Tunnel The Channel Tunnel is a 50.5 kilometre rail tunnel linking Folkestone, Kent, in the United Kingdom, with Coquelles, Pas-de-Calais, near Calais in northern France, beneath the English Channel at the Strait of Dover. At 37.9 kilometres the tunnel has the longest undersea portion of any tunnel in the world.

The Stylistics - People Make The World Go Round.

06:45
The early 70's AM radio days of my childhood were verily filled with the sounds of sweet Philly soul. In the first few years when I had a radio glued to my ear -- roundabout 1972 to 1974 -- there was hardly an edition of the Top 10 that didn't include something fine from Philly, or at least something influenced by those sounds. One of the groups that rest securely in my memory is the Stylistics. 'You Are Everything' and 'You Make Me Feel Brand New' were both HUGE records, crossing over as major pop hits, led by the trademark falsetto of Russell Thompkins Jr. Ironically enough, I was oblivious to today's selection (which was a Top 40 hit) until I heard it on the soundtrack of Spike Lee's 'Crooklyn', and promptly fell in love with it. Written by Thom Bell and Linda Creed 'People Make the World Go Round' -- which appeared on the Stylistics debut LP in 1972 -- is a classic of socially conscious soul, with a twist. The songs lyrics point fingers at opposite ends of the economic spectrum, taking shots at labor unions (trash collectors and bus drivers in particular) and moving on to attack Wall Street and cigar chomping moguls who blame their troubles on hippies. The chorus: But that's what makes the world go `round The up and down, the carousel Changing people, they'll go around Go underground, young man People make the world go `round ..seems to take a kind of resigned, "it takes all kinds" tack, but then drops in the surprising suggestion to "Go underground, young man". While the vast majority of those caught up in the idealistic movements of the 60's had given up dabbling in serious pursuits, moving from dilettante activism to get lost in a sea of new agery, or throwing away all the trappings of the Aquarian Age to assimilate entirely into suburbia, there were those, no longer willing to settle for non-violent protest, turned to setting bombs and robbing armored cars. Though an initial reading of the lyrics suggests a tone of resignation, that one line of the chorus points in another direction entirely, giving the song a sharp edge that stands in stark contrast to the musical background. The arrangement by Thom Bell sounds like the product of a summit meeting between Burt Bacharach and Norman Whitfield. The opening of the record, with blowing wind and tinkling wind chimes, is suddenly interrupted by deep, resonant electric piano chords and sweeping strings. The hiss of a hi-hat trades off with marimba as Thompkins begins the verse, all of it accented with a horn chart that sounds as if it were lifted from a late 60's Bacharach session. It really is a singularly unusual record, both for the times, and for the Stylistics discography. If the song is new to you, I hope you dig it. If you already know it, I hope you dig hearing it again. http://funky16corners.wordpress.com/2007/06/13/stylistics-people-make-the-world-go-round/
