15 MOST Luxurious Fashion Brands

11:15
From Oscar de la Renta to Chanel, here are some of the most lavish and prestigious fashion brands. Subscribe to Hindered Thoughts http://goo.gl/d3U3RP 6. Chanel The high fashion wear company was introduced to the world back in 1909 by none other than Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, otherwise known as “Coco Chanel.” This is where the brand gets its inspiration for the famously recognizable logo that is two interlocking C’s. The company specializes in creating haute couture for its wealthy clients but also for fashion models like Naomi Campbell, who once modeled for them, and actresses Marilyn Monroe, Keira Knightley, and Nicole Kidman. One of their most famous products is the perfume No. 5 de Chanel, along with the Chanel Suit. Today, Chanel is valued at being $6.8 billion dollars. An interesting fact to note is that Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director behind Fendi, happens to be the creative director for Chanel as well. 5. Prada Founded back in 1913 by Mario Prada, this fashion brand actually started out by manufacturing leather bags and trunks. It would then evolve into selling everything from clothing to perfume and even a brief stint of LG Prada cell phones. Though the brand may have broadened its inventory, it still spends the majority of its focus creating some of the world’s most exclusive handbags that only the rich and famous can possibly hope to afford. Mario Prada believed that women should not be involved in business so he excluded his own family members from getting involved. In a fantastic twist of irony, his son did not care to run the business so his daughter Luisa Prada took over as his successor and is now currently being run by her daughter Miuccia. 4. House of Versace The fashion empire that is the House of Versace all started with fashion designer Gianni Versace back in 1978. He created a brand that has been synonymous with elegance and simply oozes high fashion. His glamorous gowns have gone on to make a name for himself as a respected designer. Like the case of the famous black dress held with gold safety pins that actress Elizabeth Hurley wore back in 1994 to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral. Sadly, Versace’s life was cut short in 1997 on the steps of his Miami mansion when he became the fifth and final victim of Andrew Cunanan. The tragic event will be the story behind American Crime Story’s season 2 titled: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. After his death, his sister Donatella became the new Artistic Director and has established a $5.5 billion company her brother would be proud of. 3. Gucci Started in 1921 by a Mr. Guccio Gucci, the company was originally dabbing in leather goods. It wasn’t until 19 years later when his son Aldo would take the company from being a one-stop shop into the fashion powerhouse that it’s now known for being. It’s Aldo that would usher in the era of the brand’s iconic “Bamboo Bag” and its “ready to wear segments.” In the 90’s, the company decided to bring American Fashion designer Tom Ford to revamp their women’s wear. He ended up helping launch the brand to where it is today. The fashion brand houses other well-known designers in its collections such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Yves Saint Laurent. If you’re in the market to do some shopping at this $12.4 billion brand, expect to spend at least $2,000. 2. Louis Vuitton This may come as a shock but the famous fashion brand has been around longer than you might have thought. Formed 163 years ago in 1854, a young man by the name of Louis Vuitton started out as an apprentice for a box-maker. Vuitton ended up becoming a well-known crafter of luxury trunks and opened up his own shop in Paris. He then ended up becoming the personal box-maker of Napoleon III’s wife, Empress Eugenie de Montijo. Fast forward years later and the company is now worth $28.1 billion with a generated revenue of $10.1 billion. Today, Louis Vuitton doesn’t make just trunks but designer handbags and clothing that can be spotted on the most famous of A-listers. 1. Balenciaga The beginning of Balenciaga’s reign began back in 1919 when it was established by its founder of the same name, Cristóbal Balenciaga. As a young child, Balenciaga became an apprentice to a tailor in his hometown of Getaria, Spain and would eventually get his formal training in Madrid. He would go on to create the House of Balenciaga and skyrocketed to success thanks to his artistic genius. He was hailed as the undisputed “ King of Fashion” and was highly respected among his peers which included the likes of Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Pierre Balmain. Balenciaga even helped train the likes of high-fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Hubert Givenchy to name a few.

Top 10 most famous fashion designers

01:24
20th century saw some serious improvement in terms of both men's and women's apparel. Spearheading this reform were a class of fashion icons whom we refer to as fashion designer artists. Most of the famous iconic fashion designers of the last century are known till at the present time for their ability to exhibit the beauty of a woman's body by way of stylish, modernist, creative and elegant clothing. Below you will find a 10 list of all such iconic fashion designers, who have made women look stunning, beautiful, sensuous and gorgeous through their interesting and unique fashion designs. Check out 10 Most Famous Fashion Designers Of All Time. This list is just for 10 of them and it is in random order. So don't get mad because I didn't include other famous designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana, Jacques Cartier, Louis Vuitton and many moreYves Saint Laurent became popular in fashion circles due to his creativity in redesigning the clothes considered to be masculine into beautiful, feminine wardrobe for women. Perhaps, one of the most famous fashion designers in France, Yves was the first one to introduce power dressing for women in the form of "power suits" in the year 1966. He is also credited with designing the men's smoking jacket. The most important fashion legacy which he has left behind is the "ready-to-wear" fashion clothing. The Italian-born Frenchman is lauded for his 20th century pieces that looked as though they were from the 25th century. As Cardin rose to fame in the age of the space race, his creations took on an air of futurism. His so-called bubble dresses had all the fixings of science fiction, combining earthly elegance with out-of-this-world colors and avant garde design. They may be wacky, sure, but Cardin's clothes showed a freedom of expression that highlighted larger ideals, in particular the emancipation of women. The visionary designer fell out of critical favor when he attached his name to less fashionable items, from cars to umbrellas, but his futuristic, space-centric legacy will live to infinity and beyond.Born in January of 1905, this French designer was best known for his distinctive "New Look" silhouette. First shown in 1947; his suits and dresses revolutionized the way women dressed after the Second World War. Today, talented designer John Galliano carries on the legendary designer's legacy in Paris, where he creates dramatic couture ball gowns, chic prêt-a-porter, and luxurious accessories for Dior. Galliano's talent and his over-the-top runway shows have ensured that the brand remains strong and viable in today's world

FRANCE: SONIA RYKIEL AND CHRISTIAN LACROIX FASHION COLLECTIONS

02:59
Natural Sound Fashion designers Sonia Rykiel and Christian Lacroix have been showing their latest ready-to-wear collections in Paris. While Rykiel concentrated on traditional dark shades with some hints of colour, Lacroix went for a much brighter autumn/winter look. And for the first time, the famous French designer featured jeans as part of his new collection. Designer Sonia Rykiel has gone for figure-hugging leggings and tops this time around. Her 1996/1997 ready-to-wear collection had black as its dominant colour, but multi- coloured flashes brightened things up a little. Long, black scarves adorned many of the outfits on show at the Carousel du Louvre in Paris. Rykiel has been designing clothes for 30 years. Fir this collection, her favourite fabrics were clearly soft fabrics - in wool, crepe, leather, lace and satin. For her evening-wear creations, the designer went for an array of rich autumnal colours. Meanwhile, at the Museum of Decorative Arts at the Louvre, French designer Christian Lacroix brought a whole range of colour and design to the catwalk. His 1996/97 look featured a mixture of designs, colours and fabrics to produce an eclectic, eye-catching look. Colours were bright and beautiful, with most shades from pea green and orange to khaki, camel and earthy browns. Velvet, in a range of vibrant colours, featured heavily. Model Carla Bruni modeled a pair of wide stripy trousers and shiny red coat, topped off with a big blue trilby hat. For the first time the Lacroix collection featured jeans, which came in various colours matched with denim jackets and bright shirts. French designer creates a collection dedicated to mothers and daughters

03:27
LACROIX CREATES NEW PETIT BATEAU COLLECTION After leaving the world of fashion in 2009, Christian Lacroix mainly works on costumes for opera and ballet. But the famous French designer has now teamed up with children's clothing brand, Petit Bateau, for a collection dedicated to mothers and daughters. The new lines went on display inside the Opera Garnier in Paris Tuesday (8 OCT. 2013), where Lacroix explained his inspiration. "It is just for girls; for the mother, let's say, to go to the Opera with a Petit Bateau dress, evening dress, which is not an everyday creation at Petit Bateau," he said. "And for the little girl it's something which is inspired by the beach - because for French people it's nightwear and beachwear, for me in my mind, Petit Bateau." Lacroix may not be a name you immediately associate with childrens clothing, but according to the general director of Petit Bateau, Patrick Pergament, it's a collaboration that works. "When you speak of Christain Lacroix you think about Paris, you think about glamor, you think about party, and Petit Bateau of course is it a very different story. We are a children's brand," he admits. "It's very different but still what is very interesting with this collaboration is that we kept always our savoir faire, our know how, which is knitting, which is stripes, our colors, and I think we have achieved something very nice with Mr. Lacroix and Petit Bateau." The collection includes cotton striped jerseys and dresses with velvet ribbons. Items will be sold between 50 and 250 and will be available online, in some shops, and at the Opera Garnier for Christmas, from December 6. Stephanie Coudert - French Fashion Designer

06:17
Member of the French Haute Couture Parisian fashion week, Stephanie Coudert is a modern answer to France’s treasured Chanel. She believes that a woman should not be constrained by her clothing, that every element that touches the body is just as important as the silhouette. Cultivating this philosophy, she uses a technique called “double couture”, eliminating the back seam in all her clothing. The aim is to allow for complete freedom of movement, liberating the wearer and instilling confidence. Each garment is constructed with an elite element in mind, working with cashmere, wool, English crepe, as well as Italian and Swiss fabrics. It’s the ideal solution for stylish businesswomen, travelling freely without putting boundaries on themselves. What it Takes to Become a Fashion Designer

10:57
In Episode 2 of the Fashion East documentary, we follow the journey of Lulu Kennedy’s newest recruits for their first shows with the designer mentorship scheme, and learn what exactly it takes to become part of Fashion East. First up is recent MA graduate and menswear designer Stefan Cooke, who digitally manipulates timeless fabrics and classic charity shop gems, reproducing the print onto flexible synthetic materials, dressing an army of princes for battle on the runway. To find out what it takes to become a designer, we join Lulu at an inspirational talk to fashion students at Central Saint Martins, meeting the up and coming names who have a Fashion East sponsorship in their sights. Finally we’re introduced to Charlotte Knowles, a womenswear designer that specialises in the tension between revealing and concealing, and the Fashion East team call her into the office for a chat about opportunities in the near future… How do you make the leap from fashion graduate to fully fledged designer? What do the Fashion East team look for in a newcomer? And after having just joined the scheme, will Stefan be ready to show at MAN? Fashion show - Jean Paul Gaultier - Paris Fashion Week 2003 "FLYING JACKETS" by Fashion Channel

01:21
Fashion show - Jean Paul Gaultier - Paris Fashion Week 2003 "FLYING JACKETS" by Fashion Channel French designer Jean Paul Gaultier (born 1952) became world famous for his avant-garde designs, usually first displayed in runway shows that are themselves media events. Nobody keeps the flag of haute couture flying quite like Jean Paul Gaultier. Immaculate tailoring, aching beauty and a playful sense of the absurd—all these were whipped up into a collection that reached the wildest shores of aspirational fashion. But amid all the playfulness, it was as clear as ever that Gaultier's tuxedo tailoring is a first-class investment, cut to last a lifetime.
