15 MOST Luxurious Fashion Brands

From Oscar de la Renta to Chanel, here are some of the most lavish and prestigious fashion brands. Subscribe to Hindered Thoughts http://goo.gl/d3U3RP 6. Chanel The high fashion wear company was introduced to the world back in 1909 by none other than Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, otherwise known as “Coco Chanel.” This is where the brand gets its inspiration for the famously recognizable logo that is two interlocking C’s. The company specializes in creating haute couture for its wealthy clients but also for fashion models like Naomi Campbell, who once modeled for them, and actresses Marilyn Monroe, Keira Knightley, and Nicole Kidman. One of their most famous products is the perfume No. 5 de Chanel, along with the Chanel Suit. Today, Chanel is valued at being $6.8 billion dollars. An interesting fact to note is that Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director behind Fendi, happens to be the creative director for Chanel as well. 5. Prada Founded back in 1913 by Mario Prada, this fashion brand actually started out by manufacturing leather bags and trunks. It would then evolve into selling everything from clothing to perfume and even a brief stint of LG Prada cell phones. Though the brand may have broadened its inventory, it still spends the majority of its focus creating some of the world’s most exclusive handbags that only the rich and famous can possibly hope to afford. Mario Prada believed that women should not be involved in business so he excluded his own family members from getting involved. In a fantastic twist of irony, his son did not care to run the business so his daughter Luisa Prada took over as his successor and is now currently being run by her daughter Miuccia. 4. House of Versace The fashion empire that is the House of Versace all started with fashion designer Gianni Versace back in 1978. He created a brand that has been synonymous with elegance and simply oozes high fashion. His glamorous gowns have gone on to make a name for himself as a respected designer. Like the case of the famous black dress held with gold safety pins that actress Elizabeth Hurley wore back in 1994 to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral. Sadly, Versace’s life was cut short in 1997 on the steps of his Miami mansion when he became the fifth and final victim of Andrew Cunanan. The tragic event will be the story behind American Crime Story’s season 2 titled: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. After his death, his sister Donatella became the new Artistic Director and has established a $5.5 billion company her brother would be proud of. 3. Gucci Started in 1921 by a Mr. Guccio Gucci, the company was originally dabbing in leather goods. It wasn’t until 19 years later when his son Aldo would take the company from being a one-stop shop into the fashion powerhouse that it’s now known for being. It’s Aldo that would usher in the era of the brand’s iconic “Bamboo Bag” and its “ready to wear segments.” In the 90’s, the company decided to bring American Fashion designer Tom Ford to revamp their women’s wear. He ended up helping launch the brand to where it is today. The fashion brand houses other well-known designers in its collections such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Yves Saint Laurent. If you’re in the market to do some shopping at this $12.4 billion brand, expect to spend at least $2,000. 2. Louis Vuitton This may come as a shock but the famous fashion brand has been around longer than you might have thought. Formed 163 years ago in 1854, a young man by the name of Louis Vuitton started out as an apprentice for a box-maker. Vuitton ended up becoming a well-known crafter of luxury trunks and opened up his own shop in Paris. He then ended up becoming the personal box-maker of Napoleon III’s wife, Empress Eugenie de Montijo. Fast forward years later and the company is now worth $28.1 billion with a generated revenue of $10.1 billion. Today, Louis Vuitton doesn’t make just trunks but designer handbags and clothing that can be spotted on the most famous of A-listers. 1. Balenciaga The beginning of Balenciaga’s reign began back in 1919 when it was established by its founder of the same name, Cristóbal Balenciaga. As a young child, Balenciaga became an apprentice to a tailor in his hometown of Getaria, Spain and would eventually get his formal training in Madrid. He would go on to create the House of Balenciaga and skyrocketed to success thanks to his artistic genius. He was hailed as the undisputed “ King of Fashion” and was highly respected among his peers which included the likes of Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Pierre Balmain. Balenciaga even helped train the likes of high-fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Hubert Givenchy to name a few.

Karl Lagerfeld - German fashion designer and icon | DW Documentary

42:26
The German-born designer Karl Lagerfeld has died at the age of 85. He was a designer, an artist and a fashion icon. For this sad occasion we recommend a portrait DW made in 2014. No living fashion designer, let alone a German one, was as celebrated as Karl Lagerfeld. On September 10, 2018 the man with the trademark ponytail and sunglasses celebrated his 85th birthday. From dawn to late morning, Karl Lagerfeld designs for Chanel, Fendi and his own signature brand - a combined workload of up to 15 collections a year. A workhorse who never takes breaks or even a vacation, he is also a photographer and filmmaker. His passion for fashion was awakened by a Dior show in Hamburg in 1950. Four years later, at the age of 17, Karl Lagerfeld was hired as an assistant to Pierre Balmain. Karl Lagerfeld recounts his beginnings in the industry, as well as his upper class background and childhood in Schleswig-Holstein. Karl Lagerfeld was greatly influenced by his mother, whom he describes as his personal style icon. Karl Lagerfeld's caustic comments were notorious and dreaded by those at the receiving end. As an artist, Karl Lagerfeld worked in several media, from pictures and photographs to book illustrations and videos. The documentary of 2015 follows Karl Lagerfeld to exhibition openings, during the hectic preparations for his fashion shows, and at photo shoots in Paris as it seeks to uncover the man behind the mask. _______ DW Documentary gives you knowledge beyond the headlines. Synopsis Fashion designer Coco Chanel, born August 19, 1883, in Saumur, France, is famous for her timeless designs, trademark suits, and little black dresses. Chanel was raised in an orphanage and taught to sew. She had a brief career as a singer before opening her first clothes shop in 1910. In the 1920s, she launched her first perfume and introduced the Chanel suit and the little black dress. Early Life Famed fashion designer Coco Chanel was born Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel on August 19, 1883, in Saumur, France. With her trademark suits and little black dresses, Coco Chanel created timeless designs that are still popular today. She herself became a much revered style icon known for her simple yet sophisticated outfits paired with great accessories, such as several strands of pearls. As Chanel once said,“luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury.” Her early years, however, were anything but glamorous. After her mother’s death, Chanel was put in an orphanage by her father who worked as a peddler. She was raised by nuns who taught her how to sew—a skill that would lead to her life’s work. Her nickname came from another occupation entirely. During her brief career as a singer, Chanel performed in clubs in Vichy and Moulins where she was called “Coco.” Some say that the name comes from one of the songs she used to sing, and Chanel herself said that it was a “shortened version of cocotte, the French word for ‘kept woman,” according to an article in The Atlantic.

French designer creates a collection dedicated to mothers and daughters

03:27
LACROIX CREATES NEW PETIT BATEAU COLLECTION After leaving the world of fashion in 2009, Christian Lacroix mainly works on costumes for opera and ballet. But the famous French designer has now teamed up with children's clothing brand, Petit Bateau, for a collection dedicated to mothers and daughters. The new lines went on display inside the Opera Garnier in Paris Tuesday (8 OCT. 2013), where Lacroix explained his inspiration. "It is just for girls; for the mother, let's say, to go to the Opera with a Petit Bateau dress, evening dress, which is not an everyday creation at Petit Bateau," he said. "And for the little girl it's something which is inspired by the beach - because for French people it's nightwear and beachwear, for me in my mind, Petit Bateau." Lacroix may not be a name you immediately associate with childrens clothing, but according to the general director of Petit Bateau, Patrick Pergament, it's a collaboration that works. "When you speak of Christain Lacroix you think about Paris, you think about glamor, you think about party, and Petit Bateau of course is it a very different story. We are a children's brand," he admits. "It's very different but still what is very interesting with this collaboration is that we kept always our savoir faire, our know how, which is knitting, which is stripes, our colors, and I think we have achieved something very nice with Mr. Lacroix and Petit Bateau." The collection includes cotton striped jerseys and dresses with velvet ribbons. Items will be sold between 50 and 250 and will be available online, in some shops, and at the Opera Garnier for Christmas, from December 6. My adventure in Paris shops. Interesting and simple clothes by French designers.

06:34
There are a lot of amazing shops in Paris. I liked one so much that I’ve decided to show it to you. I’m going to show you different clothes, then I’ll buy a couple of them, and you can write if you agree with my choice in comments. What is also very important is that the clothes in this shop are of pretty simple design, so we can make such ones ourselves. Most of them are made just of 2 simple square piece of fabric stitched together and decorated. I know what I’m going to buy, but I want you to have a look at different clothes presented in this shop. I love Paris, I love fashion, and I love you my dear subscribers! What do you think of the items I showed you today? Be different and beautiful. My name is Paukshte Irina. Guys, please, subscribe to my channel, write comments, share videos and press the “like” and “bell” buttons! I really need your support! Thank you!

Fashion show - Jean Paul Gaultier - Paris Fashion Week 2003 "FLYING JACKETS" by Fashion Channel

01:21
Fashion show - Jean Paul Gaultier - Paris Fashion Week 2003 "FLYING JACKETS" by Fashion Channel French designer Jean Paul Gaultier (born 1952) became world famous for his avant-garde designs, usually first displayed in runway shows that are themselves media events. Nobody keeps the flag of haute couture flying quite like Jean Paul Gaultier. Immaculate tailoring, aching beauty and a playful sense of the absurd—all these were whipped up into a collection that reached the wildest shores of aspirational fashion. The designer's cheeky sense of humor also showed up in trompe l'oeil pieces that spoofed the idea of formal dressing with what looked like suits and shirts suspended in front of the models' bodies. But amid all the playfulness, it was as clear as ever that Gaultier's tuxedo tailoring is a first-class investment, cut to last a lifetime. FRANCE: CHEF TURNED FASHION DESIGNER TO OPEN PARIS FASHION WEEK

02:41
English/Nat A Parisian chef-turned-fashion-designer is set to stun the crowds at the Paris fashion week which starts next Monday. Christian Le Drezen will open the show with his Autumn-Winter ready-to-wear collection. He worked as a chef for 15 years before turning his hand to fashion. Food and fashion, the two fields in which the French are said to excel. But seldom has a Frenchmen claimed to be an expert in both. That's set to change when Christian Le Drezen opens Paris fashion week. In the Autumn-Winter ready-to-wear collections the former French chef will be cooking up a storm with his first ever fashion show. Le Drezen left his homeland of Brittany when he was 15 to train as a chef. After travelling Europe working in restaurants, he decided in 1986 to pursue his passion; fashion. SOUNDBITE: ( English ) "I always, as I said, wanted to make something look beautiful. I mean I wanted to make things look good, to eat. But it was always my main thing to make a plate or whatever look beautiful, so it had really big rapport to me....and when I wanted to start with material to start in fashion I knew that I didn't have a chance to do school or to start anything in France. So I went to New York. And there was easier for me because in America people don't care what you've done, its cool whatever, you know they give you a chance for one day or two, they give you a chance" SUPER CAPTION: Christian Le Drezen, Fashion Designer He was hired at bridal wear company Roth Import in New York, and on his return to Paris, clinched an assistant's job, first with Kenzo, and then with Christian Dior. Last year, after several months without work, Le Drezen decided to open his own fashion house and present his show on the catwalk this season. He found inspiration for his collection in the clothes worn by British rock star Annie Lennox in the video based on her hit 1982 album. SOUNDBITE: ( English ) "So I've built my own collection starting from the costumes she was wearing in 1982, in 1982 yes, when she just became famous for 'Sweet Dreams' single and video, and from that costume, my own collection comes from that costume, it starts masculine but more as an angel, not like a man" SUPER CAPTION:Christian Le Drezen, Fashion Designer Sweet Dreams, Le Drezen's collection will open the fashion week on Monday March 9. Top 10 most famous fashion designers

01:24
20th century saw some serious improvement in terms of both men's and women's apparel. Spearheading this reform were a class of fashion icons whom we refer to as fashion designer artists. Most of the famous iconic fashion designers of the last century are known till at the present time for their ability to exhibit the beauty of a woman's body by way of stylish, modernist, creative and elegant clothing. Below you will find a 10 list of all such iconic fashion designers, who have made women look stunning, beautiful, sensuous and gorgeous through their interesting and unique fashion designs. Check out 10 Most Famous Fashion Designers Of All Time. This list is just for 10 of them and it is in random order. So don't get mad because I didn't include other famous designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana, Jacques Cartier, Louis Vuitton and many moreYves Saint Laurent became popular in fashion circles due to his creativity in redesigning the clothes considered to be masculine into beautiful, feminine wardrobe for women. Perhaps, one of the most famous fashion designers in France, Yves was the first one to introduce power dressing for women in the form of "power suits" in the year 1966. He is also credited with designing the men's smoking jacket. The most important fashion legacy which he has left behind is the "ready-to-wear" fashion clothing. The Italian-born Frenchman is lauded for his 20th century pieces that looked as though they were from the 25th century. As Cardin rose to fame in the age of the space race, his creations took on an air of futurism. His so-called bubble dresses had all the fixings of science fiction, combining earthly elegance with out-of-this-world colors and avant garde design. They may be wacky, sure, but Cardin's clothes showed a freedom of expression that highlighted larger ideals, in particular the emancipation of women. The visionary designer fell out of critical favor when he attached his name to less fashionable items, from cars to umbrellas, but his futuristic, space-centric legacy will live to infinity and beyond.Born in January of 1905, this French designer was best known for his distinctive "New Look" silhouette. First shown in 1947; his suits and dresses revolutionized the way women dressed after the Second World War. Today, talented designer John Galliano carries on the legendary designer's legacy in Paris, where he creates dramatic couture ball gowns, chic prêt-a-porter, and luxurious accessories for Dior. Galliano's talent and his over-the-top runway shows have ensured that the brand remains strong and viable in today's world

When I launched myself as a designer, designers used to do a double designers shows in the sense that would be two designers would be presenting, you know, in a banquet hall, and it was all very organized. So I decided that I'm going to launch myself as a designer and I'm going to not do it with anybody else. I'm going to do a solo show. So all the headaches were on me and then I have challenged myself and I said, I'm not going to do it in a banquet hall. I'm going to do it at the Moody Gardens. Because as a kid I used to walk at the Moody Gardens and this beautiful monument. And I used to always go there and be mesmerized. 00:56 So I decided this is going to be the venue of my shoe. And to add to that, I say, I'm not going to use recorded music. I'm going to get real musicians. Because what I named my collection was a retrospective of the Indian fashion industry, so I went through ancient India, medieval India to modern India, and I went and approach to start, um, to the ECON. Soccer was in hurry, preset you. I got all of them to agree to do the music life for me. And then I was a little designer brand new out of the fashion institution, not knowing what I was doing, but I was presenting my collection at the garden. So I went through the necessary permissions. But the system is duff. So, um, apparently ludy gardens comes under many, many different corporations, so it became a very political event and I had to get permissions and licenses, which apparently I was not aware of. 01:57 I got a few thinking that that was all that I needed. So it became a huge challenge and a huge, um, the press went mad, especially Indian Express. They had me on the cover of every new, every newspaper for the next five days, which was super fun. At one level I had, I had no budgets to pay for publicity. So then I was on the front page and everybody was saying, who is this with dewberry, you know, we've never heard of barry and I became a household name with my very first show. So I really don't take any, any challenge as a problem. It's, there's no such thing as an impossible situation. And I think it's fun to experiment. It's fun to, you know, pave your own path and do something new. Or 02:47 when I was 02:47 in design school lives to go to the library and all I was looking for because I used to enjoy embroideries and I was inspired by embroideries. All I looked for books and Roswell, Assad and weren't many books, but you know, they used to have these uh, design magazines and they'd be a mention of embroidery by Francois lasage. So I've, I've went to London and I looked for books in libraries, but there was very little that I really found, and this was this strange, uh, but I think it was destined. I went to Paris, I think this was [inaudible] 93 or 92. And I was sitting with a very, very important person from Cartier in Paris and she said, is there anybody in the fashion business that you would like to meet? And the only name that completely lit up. And she says, she laughed at me and she said, you are you asking for the moon 03:42 He meets nobody. But, uh, she said, I'll give you his phone number and if you get somewhere, it's completely all luck. All I did for the next four days in Paris was go to a booth, make a goal to a for go have a coffee, go back to the booth. I did this. I think I must have made about 30 calls to him. And, uh, I didn't speak French and the secretary would pick up and she would just speak in French. I had no way to get to him. Finally, I tried really hard and I said to you, would you, do you know somebody who speaks English in the office? 05:04 So all these number ones that everybody was trying to say, I was the first here and number one here. And I like to, um, my competition is only with myself and I, I really mean that because since I began it, Dilla was in junior school, it was about my report card and I had to be the first in class, but when I hit senior school it all changed for me because, um, I was lost and I think I started getting creative and creative people are a bit mad and they don't see everything so rationally.
