What are jQuery selectors 2. Different selectors in jQuery 3. #id selector in jquery What are jQuery selectors One of the most important concept in jQuery is selectors. jQuery selectors allow you to select and manipulate HTML elements. Different selectors in jQuery jQuery selectors allow you to select html elements in the DOM by 1. Element ID 2. Element Tag Name 3. Element Class Name 4. Element attribute 5. Element Attribute values and many more Id selector in jquery To find an HTML element by ID, use the jQuery #id selector Example : The following example finds button with ID button1 and attaches the click event handler. [html] [head] [title][/title] [script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"][/script] [script type="text/javascript"] $(document).ready(function () { $('#button1').click(function () { alert('jQuery Tuorial'); }); }); [/script] [/head] [body] [input id="button1" type="button" value="Click Me" /] [/body] [/html] Changes the background colour of the button to yellow $(document).ready(function () { $('#button1').css('background-color', 'yellow'); }); Important points to remember about jQuery #id selector 1. jQuery #id selector uses the JavaScript document.getElementById() function 2. jQuery #id selector is the most efficient among all jQuery selectors. If you know the id of an element that you want to find, then always use the #id selector. 3. HTML element IDs must be unique on the page. jQuery #id selector returns only the first element, if you have 2 or more elements with the same ID. [html] [head] [title][/title] [script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"][/script] [script type="text/javascript"] $(document).ready(function () { $('#button1').css('background-Color', 'yellow'); }); [/script] [/head] [body] [input id="button1" type="button" value="Click Me" /] [input id="button1" type="button" value="Click Button" /] [/body] [/html] 4. JavaScript's document.getElementById() function throws an error if the element with the given id is not found, where as jQuery #id selector will not throw an error. To check if an element is returned by the #id selector use length property. [html] [head] [title][/title] [script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"][/script] [script type="text/javascript"] $(document).ready(function () { if ($('#button1').length ] 0) { alert('Element found') } else { alert('Element not found') } }); [/script] [/head] [body] [input id="button1" type="button" value="Click Me" /] [/body] [/html] 5. JavaScript's document.getElementById() and jQuery(#id) selector are not the same. document.getElementById() returns a raw DOM object where as jQuery('#id') selector returns a jQuery object that wraps the DOM object and provides jQuery methods. This is the reason you are able to call jQuery methods like css(), click() on the object returned by jQuery. To get the underlying DOM object from a jQuery object write $('#id')[0] 6. document.getElementById() is faster than jQuery('#id') selector. Use document.getElementById() over jQuery('#id') selector unless you need the extra functionality provided by the jQuery object.

What's the difference between IDs & Classes? | HTML, CSS & JavaScript

04:46
When developing a website or web application, it's important to keep in mind the difference between an ID and a Class, and to know when to use each one and why. The primary thing to remember about this is that you should be using an ID for a unique element that only exists once on the document whereas classes are more appropriate for multiple elements that serve the same purpose. In this video I take you through this topic and how it affects not only your HTML markup but also your CSS code and JavaScript. Android Basic Calculator/colorful Using IntelXdk | Fully Tested On device.

I have explained how to create an Android application using intelXdk in which the app is built on HTML5 . I assume you have basic knowledge of HTML,JAVASCRIPT, AND CSS . # I have written the code to avoid wastage of time . # here is the code , copy and paste them according to the video . #connect your phone via a usb cable so that on every Ctrl+s , you can see the changes as live layout . #The code . // for Button Clearing // will clear all input fields . document.getElementById('result').value=""; document.getElementById('numFirst').value=""; document.getElementById('numSecond').value=""; // adding , substraction, multiplication , division // just change the sign of each accordingly . var num1 = document.getElementById('numFirst').value; var num2 = document.getElementById('numSecond').value; // these values have to be converted to integer to avoid concatination var result = parseInt(num1)+parseInt(num2); // setting the result field input document.getElementById('result').value=result; // for changing the background color document.body.style.backgroundColor="black"; // themesChange button // this is only changing backgrounds of the buttons in order to make it look colorful if(document.body.style.backgroundColor==="black"){ document.body.style.backgroundColor="darkcyan"; document.getElementById('numFirst').style.backgroundColor="darkcyan"; document.getElementById('numSecond').style.backgroundColor="darkcyan"; document.getElementById('result').style.backgroundColor="darkcyan"; document.getElementById('addition').style.backgroundColor="darkcyan"; document.getElementById('division').style.backgroundColor="darkcyan"; document.getElementById('substraction').style.backgroundColor="darkcyan"; document.getElementById('multiplication').style.backgroundColor="darkcyan"; document.getElementById('clearing').style.backgroundColor="darkcyan"; document.getElementById('themesChange').style.backgroundColor="darkcyan"; } // just to toggle the colors else{ document.body.style.backgroundColor="black"; document.getElementById('numFirst').style.backgroundColor="black"; document.getElementById('numSecond').style.backgroundColor="black"; document.getElementById('result').style.backgroundColor="black"; document.getElementById('addition').style.backgroundColor="darkcyan"; document.getElementById('division').style.backgroundColor="darkcyan"; document.getElementById('substraction').style.backgroundColor="darkcyan"; document.getElementById('multiplication').style.backgroundColor="darkcyan"; document.getElementById('clearing').style.backgroundColor="black"; document.getElementById('themesChange').style.backgroundColor="black"; } // the styling part // you can create an external stylesheet and add the link to the index.html page . // don't forget to put the css file inside angle bracket tags // youtube doesn't allow putting "style -- /style" tags . #numFirst,#numSecond,#result{ margin-top:20px; border-left-width:0px; border-right-width:0px; border-top-width:0px; width:90%; margin-left:20px; background-color:black; color:white; } #result{ margin-bottom:20px; } #additon{ border-width:0px; background-color:cornflowerblue; color:white; } #substraction{ border-width:0px; background-color:blueviolet; color:white; } #division{ border-width:0px; background-color:coral; color:white; } #multiplication{ border-width:0px; background-color:crimson; color:white; } #clearing,#themesChange{ background-color:darkseagreen; color:white; border-width:0px; } // Hope , I have helped you . // Thanks For watching and best of luck .

textContent vs innerHTML in the JavaScript DOM

04:38
Although commonly used interchangeably, there is a major difference between the textContent and innerHTML properties when working with Elements in JavaScript, and it's important you know what that is. The major difference is that when using the innerHTML property, the client browser will actually interpret the content as HTML markup, and apply that change to the DOM/Window. On the other hand, the textContent property will only change the the text, preserving any HTML markup. In this video I take you through a basic example to demonstrate that difference. [Javascript Tutorial] css id vs class attributes, when to use id and when to use class, difference

06:35
[Javascript Tutorial] css id vs class attributes, when to use id and when to use class, difference between id and class. css3 id vs class attributes, when to use id and when to use class, difference between id and class in css css benefits of using class over id, css3 benefits of using id over class, html id vs class, css id vs class, html class vs id, css class vs id, The Difference Between ID and Class, id vs class tutorial, difference between id and class tutorial,The Difference Between class and id HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript Tutorials , lessons with examples. Techsith.com id vs class more of a design related question and its a very important one. Overall you will be using more classes then ids. id: think of element that is unique. there is only one id per element. your html validateor would throw and en error if you do use it which means you will not be reusing the same style anywhere else. all the main containers in your HTMLs you should use id because you are not going to repete them . That doesnt mean that you cant use class there. advantage of using is for is as your main namespace. for css this way you can segregate work so your css doesn't messup. for example #leftContainer .button { color:red} which mean all the botton in the left containers are red. class: you can used them freely. any common styles you can define as class. as you can have multiple classes for the same element. and mix and match of the classes will make your css small . for example you can create two divs with same color but diffrent font sizes. Dont forget the attributes. actually id and class are attributes wich special meaning. and you can create your own custome attributes. like myattr. Platforms like angularjs uses them freely. overall i thin its better to use classes then ids especially when you working in a team envirement where you are responsible for a partial html . using id can be riskier if someone else is using the same id in the other part of the html . in css id has higher priority than class for example ...... JavaScript modules, CSS properties and JS code style: #1.21 the latest News (the Good Parts)

04:48
Hi! Let's talk today about Native #JavaScript modules, #CSS Properties and #JavaScript #code style. I'm Anatol and you are watching the Good Parts of the #FrontEnd #development. "Native #ECMAScript modules: the new features and differences from #Webpack modules" https://blog.hospodarets.com/native-ecmascript-modules-new-features (https://goo.gl/JEFbty) Serg Hospodarets in his article "Native #ECMAScript modules" invites you to take a look into the practical differences between the #ES modules and classic scripts. He also describes how to detect if the module script is loaded or the error occurred. "#ES7 and ES8 Features" https://node.university/blog/498412/es7-es8 (https://goo.gl/eWkb9G) Have you ever heard about ES8? No? Me neither. However #ES2016 has been released officially and #ES2017 is in line. Over the last three years, #JavaScript has become the most versatile scripting language, but before that nothing happened for many years. Therefore you can familiarize yourself with a brief overview on #ES2016 and #ES2017 features like String padding, Descriptors or #Asynchronous Iteration on #Node University blog. "What #javascript #code style is the most popular" https://hackernoon.com/what-javascript-code-style-is-the-most-popular-5a3f5bec1f6f#.v59l6wrcn (https://goo.gl/O1H5HS) A survey "What #javascript code style is the most popular" by Artem Sapegin has got unexpected results. Frankly speaking, not really, maybe just a little bit. Predictably #AirBnb preset has ranked first, but surprisingly at the top of the league, among #NPM projects you won’t find any lint rule. As for me, the main point here is what we declare and what we actually do in our projects. What’s about you? What code style do you prefer? Leave your comments down below. "Intro to Vue.js: Rendering, Directives, and Events" https://css-tricks.com/intro-to-vue-1-rendering-directives-events/ (https://goo.gl/aKgvha) Sara Drasner posted her own introduction to Vue.js on #CSS-Tricks. It comprises five sections and covers the following topics: Rendering, Components, #Vue command line interface, VueX and Animations. "A Beginner’s Guide to #Webpack 2 and Module Bundling" https://www.sitepoint.com/beginners-guide-to-webpack-2-and-module-bundling/ (https://goo.gl/6TI4st) #Webpack has become one of the most important tools for modern web development and now it has been reached version 2. 2 point 2 actually. In this post on Sitepoint you can read a beginner-friendly #Webpack 2 tutorial showing how to set up and configure #Webpack to transform and bundle all your #frontend assets. "Format console.log with #CSS and String Template Tags" https://egghead.io/lessons/javascript-format-console-log-with-css-and-string-template-tags (https://goo.gl/RkmX0B) Are you normally formatting your console log messages? The Chrome console allows you to format messages using CSS properties. John Lindquist described a simple syntax of formatting logs then refactored code into a template tag function. "Let’s Look at 50+ Interesting CSS Properties & Values" https://css-tricks.com/lets-look-50-interesting-css-properties-values/ (https://goo.gl/eUEvNB) Greg Hovanesyan encourages us to take a look at more than 50 interesting CSS properties and values. And it's not only about Flex boxes and Grid layouts. I found some new solutions to old problems here. You might like to keep it in your bookmarks. If you like this video give it "thumbs up". 41 JavaScrpt console.log - Javascript Tutorial 2018

07:33
The Full #Javascript #tutorial for #beginners : http://bizanosa.com/js Learn HTML, CSS and Javascript : http://bizanosa.com/sp/learn-html-css-javascript/ Javascript Tutorial 2018 This is a Javascript tutorial from scratch for any beginner. Use the above link to watch the full JS video tutorial.. Next Video: https://youtu.be/GSYM3YW852M Previous Video: https://youtu.be/9KfpcMJmpk8 Hi, and welcome back. So in this video, we looked at ‘document.write’ and we said that you should not use this. You should only use it for testing and for seeing something that you want to view a quick result for. Because if you use it, once your entire HTML has been loaded, it will wipe out everything. So don't use it unless you’re doing some kind of a test. So in this video, let's look at ‘console.log’. ‘console.log’ is a way for you to output or log information to the console. So if I come to the browser, this is our console. Most browsers have the console. For example, if you're using Chrome, you have the Chrome Developer Tools. Just go to the console of Chrome and you’ll be able to access this as well. I'm here using Firefox. And on Firefox, I'm using firebug. So on firebug, I just click on console. That will get me to the web console for Firefox. Now here in the web console, normally you'd see information about the webpage. For example, if there are warnings, there are errors, you’ll see them here. If there’s some information, you’ll see them here. And you’ll also see things related to the network. So basically, this is a place that we log information about lots of different things that concerns the current webpage. So this is used for debugging and if you want to debug, you will always use the web console on Firefox. In my case, I use the web console and I'm using Firebug for that. So if I come here and down here you can see, I have this short note about the web console or the browser console. So, whether it's Chrome, whether it's ‘IE’ that's Internet Explorer, whether its Firefox, Opera, they all have a tool that you can use that is similar to Firebug, web developer tools that you can use on that browser. And in most cases, you’ll find each of them have a web console where you can see things that’s related to the webpage. So this is mostly used for debugging and it logs information about a webpage. If there's any information, errors, warnings, network information, JavaScript, CSS, etc, all that can be logged in the web console. So the web console will enable you as a programmer to interact with that webpage on the browser, right. You can just go to the web console and you saw, you saw me write this earlier on. So this is a way for you, you can interact with the webpage. If I do an alert, maybe ‘alert(2*3)’, if I run this, you see it will enable me to interact with the webpage. So, there are lots of methods that can be used on the web console. But we are mostly interested in ‘console.log’ which will enable us to log information to the console. Actually this is the one that is mostly used by most JavaScript tutors. If you look at most tutorials online, even on MDN and I'm currently using, I’m mostly using the MDN documentation for this JavaScript course. So you'll find that most of the examples are given using ‘console.log’ as the method of output. So let me do an example of this so that you can see how you can use the console for yourself. So if I come back here, in the last video we looked at that. Now let's look at the ‘console.log’. So I’ll just uncomment this. And if I do this, if I run this on the browser, it's going to give us this output. It’s going to log this into the web console. So if I come here and I reload, ok. I have to click there. If I click on ‘All’ which shows me everything, it will log that into the console. This is the information that has been logged into the console. Now if I come back here, let me comment that and uncomment this. You can even do mathematical operations and it will be logged into the console. So here, I do have ‘(100*4)-250’ and we want to see the result of this. So if I run this, if I come back and I reload, you see it, it will log the result of that. So the ‘console.log’ is a very quick way for you to see your results and examples and there's so many more methods that can be used. So we have the ‘console.log’, you can also have something like ‘console.info’. So if you want to show some information, these are things, methods that are available on the console. 96 For in Loop example in JS - JavaScript Tutorial 2018

06:46
The Full #Javascript #tutorial for #beginners [#JS]: http://bizanosa.com/js Learn HTML, CSS and JavaScript http://bizanosa.com/sp/learn-html-css-javascript/ JavaScript Tutorial 2018 96 For in Loop example in Javascript - JavaScript for Beginners. This is a Javascript tutorial from scratch for any beginner. Use the above link to watch the full JS video tutorial.. Next Video: https://youtu.be/GUHJxP5CZfs Previous Video: https://youtu.be/0Sv16CB_JWE So let’s go in to the browser and then we do an example of a for-in loop in JavaScript. So if I come back to the browser and then I open Scratchpad, so let’s start by an object. So we’ll create an object. Let’s call it ‘var character’ and let’s say we are thinking in terms of a character in a TV show. So the “name” of the character will be “Joey”. Then, the TV show, let’s just call it “show” will be “Friends”. And the “age” of the character is “30”. So we know that if you’re writing something that is words, you always enclose them in quotation marks. But if it’s a number like this, you don’t enclose it in quotation marks. So there we have our object. Now, we want to iterate using a for-in loop. And we say that a for-in loop, number 1, for-in, it will bring back the name or the key. So let’s see what that means. So if you say ‘for’ and if we look at the syntax, you’ll create a variable to access the object, so a variable to access the object. So how you do that is you just come back here and let’s say we want to create variable ‘c’, ‘var c’ in character. So, it will iterate through this character. And then, if we alert, if we alert ‘c’, we do expect that ‘c’ is going to iterate through everything in this, through all the properties and we say that the property, that’s a property, that’s a property and that’s a property. And then that, that is a key, that’s a value, that’s a key, that’s a value. And so, we say that for-in brings back the name. So if we see the value of ‘c’, it’s going to give us “name”, “show” and “age”, if we iterate through the object using a for-in loop. So if I run this, Control+Z. Come down here, alert(c). If I run this, it will bring back “name” and then the next name is “show”, then next one is “age”. So it brought back “name”, show and “age”. Let’s use something that we already know. Let me just comment out this one. And before I go any further, before I comment it, let me copy this code because I want to put it in the snippets so that you can take it and use it and change it however you wish. And now, if you want to bring back the value of this, you can use, let me just comment this one and then we do a different alert down here. Alert, and you remember how to access, you remember how to access the value in a property. And you do it using the name ‘character’, using the name of the object. And then, in this case we’re going to use the square brackets notation. So, you remember that if you want to access the value in an object, you can use the square brackets notation or you can use the dot notation. In this case, since this is a variable, we’re going to use the bracket notation. And what this will bring back to us, it’s going to iterate through all the properties and it’s going to show us the values. So we can even make it better and say let’s use something that we already know how to use which is the template literals. So with the template literals, we can say ‘c’ if you want to show the value of ‘c’. So we’ll just use dollar sign, curly braces and ‘c’. Then we say ‘c’ is, and then character[c]. Contrl+X. Let’s put this one also inside, inside of that. So what this one will tell us is ‘c’ is, so if I run this, it will tell us “name is Joey”, “show is Friends” and the “age is 30”. So the most important thing you have to understand about the for-in loop is that it will iterate through enumerable properties. If a property is not enumerable, you can make it non-enumerable, but we’re going to look at that later on when we look at objects in great detail. So right now know that if you’re using the for-in loop to iterate through objects, it will bring back, the value it will bring back for you will be the name, ok. It brings back the name, the name, not the values. So these are the values and these are the names and this entire thing is a property. So let’s continue on in the next video. . JavaScript Cookies

Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/02/javascript-cookies.html In this video we will discuss 1. What are cookies and why are they needed 2. How to write a cookie and read it later Why are cookies needed Web applications work on HTTP protocol which is a stateless protocol. This means after the web server has processed the client request for a web page, the web server will not remember anything about the client that made the request. Let us understand what this statement means with an example. 1. Design a web page with a DropDownList. 2. When the user selects a color from the DropDownList we want to change the background color of the page to the selected color. 3. We want the web application to remember the user's preferred color. On a subsequent visit to the same page it should display the page with the background color that we previously selected. 4. Now close the browser. Open a new instance of the browser and navigate to the same page. Notice that, the page does not remember the color we selected earlier. This is because web applications work on HTTP protocol which is a stateless protocol. This means after the web server has processed the initial client request, it does not remember aynthing about the settings the client made. There are several ways to make a web application remember these settings. One of the easiest and common ways is by using cookies. What are cookies Cookies are small text files that a browser stores in the visitor's computer. A cookie is basically a string of name-value pairs separated by semi-colons. How does a cookie look color=red;expires=Fri, 5 Aug 2016 01:00:00 UTC; In the cookie string above we have 2 name-value pairs. The expires attribute specifies when the cookie is going to expire. By default cookies are deleted when the current browser session ends. If you want to store the cookie on the client computer even after the browser session has ended then specify either expires or max-age attributes. The color attribute is set to "red". How to write a cookie : Use the document object's cookie property to write the cookie. document.cookie = "color=red;expires=Fri, 5 Aug 2016 01:00:00 UTC;" How to read a cookie : Use the document object's cookie property to read the cookie. var cookieString = document.cookie; Here is the complete example which remembers the user color preference [select id="ddlTheme" onchange="setColorCookie()"] [option value="Select Color"]Select Color[/option] [option value="red"]Red[/option] [option value="green"]Green[/option] [option value="blue"]Blue[/option] [/select] [script type="text/javascript"] window.onload = function () { if (document.cookie.length != 0) { var nameValueArray = document.cookie.split("="); document.getElementById("ddlTheme").value = nameValueArray[1]; document.bgColor = nameValueArray[1]; } } function setColorCookie() { var selectedValue = document.getElementById("ddlTheme").value; if (selectedValue != "Select Color") { document.bgColor = selectedValue; document.cookie = "color=" + selectedValue + ";expires=Fri, 5 Aug 2016 01:00:00 UTC;"; } } [/script]

Tutorial PHP: How to build an HTML tag builder (free source code)

02:24:43
Are you searching for a way to reduce the implementation and maintenance time of your web interfaces? Maybe you should consider the automatic creation of HTML tags. Firstly, the automatic creation of HTML tags allows to significantly reduce the code lines in your views. For example, a simple PHP code line such as: echo HTMLBuilder::createTag(HTMLTag::TEXT_COLOR, 'GRADIENT', ''); Allow to generate the following HTML (encoded to be valid on YouTube) : <div class="input-group"><div class="input-group-prepend"><span class="input-group-text" title="Click here to access an online gradient generator."><a href="http://angrytools.com/gradient/" target="_blank"><i class="fas fa-paint-brush"></i></a></span></div><input type="text" id="GRADIENT_TEXT" class="form-control" name="GRADIENT_TEXT" onblur="autoExpand(this, true); visualizeColorBox(this);" onfocus="autoExpand(this);" oninput="inputGradient(this);autoExpand(this);" maxlength="150" pattern="^(?:#(?:[a-f\d]{3}|[a-f\d]{6})|[a-z]{3,20}|rgba\((?:(?:1\d{2}|2(?:[0-4]\d|5[0-5])|\d{1,2})%?,?\s?){1,3}(?:0\.\d|[01])?\)|(?:repeating-)?(?:linear|radial)-gradient\((?:-?\d{2,3}deg,\s?|[a-z]+-[a-z]+,?)?(?:#(?:[a-f\d]{3}|[a-f\d]{6})\s?,?|[ ]|(?:\d{1,2}|100)%,?|rgba\((?:(?:1\d{2}|2(?:[0-4]\d|5[0-5])|\d{1,2})%?,?\s?){1,3}(?:0\.\d|[01])?\)\s?,?|[a-z]{2,20}\s?,?)+\));?$" title="Color hexdecimal code, color name, rgba color, or WC3 gradient. Max 150 character." defaultwidth="715"><div class="input-group-append"><span class="input-group-text"><input type="color" id="COLOR_TEXT" style="border-style: hidden;" onchange="var textbox = document.getElementById('GRADIENT_TEXT'); textbox.value = this.value; visualizeColorBox(textbox);"></span></div><div id="GRADIENT_TEXT_DIV" class=& Not only, you simplify the management of your views, but you also speed up your capacity to write more. Moreover, the automatic creation guarantees the consistency between your different interfaces which is essential for ensuring a great user experience. Indeed, your software must always respond the same for similar action, otherwise, it will be hard for the user to guess out how to use it properly which is quite frustrating. Finally, and this is probably the most important point, the automatic creation of HTML tags by a PHP class means that, if you ever need to change something for a reason or another, you only need to make the fix once to apply the change throughout the whole software (or even over multiple projects). I cannot emphasize enough on this: the most important expenses on a software is not the initial development. It is maintaining the existing features of the software over an extended period of time. More centralize your software is, the more your monetary expenses and development time will be reduced when it comes time to maintain your software. You can use the source code of this project freely without any copyright regardless of whether it is a personal or professional project. Don’t hesitate to like, comment and share with your friends.
