How to Install Tailwind CSS v1.0
Hi, My name is Andy Leverenz and I work as a Product Designer at Dribbble. For fun, I design, code, and write. Check out my blog called Web-Crunch https://web-crunch.com where I publish design and development tutorials with the occasional vlog. ==================== Tailwind CSS has become my favorite CSS frameworks to reach for lately. The focus of the framework is utility-first which means adding classes to HTML elements to style it collectively. This guide will get you teach you how to install the new beta version 1.0 of Tailwind CSS coming soon. This post is also the kick off of a new series titled Let's Build: With Tailwind CSS. In this series, I'll be creating UI components and projects using Tailwind CSS exclusively. We'll harness the framework and possibly extend it to create awesome looking UI from scratch. We may even clone other popular UI as an example use case too. ### Why Tailwind CSS? I hated the concept of purely functional/atomic/utility CSS at first but have now grown to love it. I originally hated it because of how cluttered it felt writing so many class names inside my HTML. It felt as though I was writing inline styles almost (you kind of are...). The beauty of the Tailwind CSS approach I found in these bullet points: - Less opinionated (Tailwind has its defaults but you can customize everything) - Configurable - Hardly ever need to hunt/find CSS in your stack - Hardly ever need to write repeated CSS in your stack. - Scaling is just easier - Prototyping is just easier - Less jumping between markup and CSS files Continue reading: https://web-crunch.com/how-to-install-tailwind-css ==================== 📰 Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/user/webcrunchblog?sub_confirmation=1 💎🛤 NEW COURSE: HELLO RAILS - Get notified Https://hellorails.io 💻 Previously published at: https://web-crunch.com/how-to-install-tailwind-css 💻 Check out the blog: https://web-crunch.com 🦄 Check out my personal site: https://justalever.com 🚀 Links: Weekly Newsletter: https://web-crunch.com/subscribe Twitter: https://twitter.com/webcrunchblog Twitter(Personal Account): https://twitter.com/justalever Facebook: https://facebook.com/webcrunchblog Dribbble: https://dribbble.com/justalever Github: https://github.com/justalever Medium: https://medium.com/the-web-crunch-publication 📘Check out my book on UX Design: "LUXD: Learn User Experience Design" https://web-crunch.com/books/luxd 📙 Check out my FREE book on Tumblr Theming: "Pro Tumblr Theming" https://web-crunch.com/books/ptt 💯 Need awesome web hosting? Selector Inheritance & Operators | Starting with Sass
This series is all about getting up and running with the basics of Sass. In today's episode, we will be covering Selector Inheritance and Math Operators which will help you make your CSS code more modular and scalable. Remember to Subscribe https://goo.gl/6vCw64 Extend/Inheritance ////////////////////////////////////// This is one of the most useful features of Sass. Using @extend lets you share a set of CSS properties from one selector to another. It helps keep your Sass very DRY. In our example, we're going to create a simple series of messaging for errors, warnings, and successes using another feature which goes hand in hand with extending, placeholder classes. A placeholder class is a special type of class that only prints when it is extended and can help keep your compiled CSS neat and clean. Operators ////////////////////////////////////// Doing math in your CSS is very helpful. Sass has a handful of standard math operators like +, -, *, /, and %. In our example we're going to do some simple math to calculate widths for an aside & article. Sass is the most mature, stable, and powerful professional grade CSS extension language in the world. In this series we will be covering the basics of Sass: Preprocessing Variables Nesting Partials Import Mixins Inheritance Operators CSS on its own can be fun, but stylesheets are getting larger, more complex, and harder to maintain. This is where a preprocessor can help. Sass lets you use features that don't exist in CSS yet like variables, nesting, mixins, inheritance and other nifty goodies that make writing CSS fun again. Once you start tinkering with Sass, it will take your preprocessed Sass file and save it as a normal CSS file that you can use in your website. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ////////// Sign up for my Monthly Newsletter http://jesseshowalter.com/newsletter - ////////// Website http://www.jesseshowalter.com - ////////// Subscribe: https://goo.gl/6vCw64 - If you want to support the content I make and buy me a cup of coffee https://www.buymeacoffee.com/jessesho... ////////// Social Twitter: http://twitter.com/iamjesseshow Podcast: https://anchor.fm/iamjesseshow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/iamjesseshow Medium: https://medium.com/@iamjesseshow -

CSS3 Tutorial for Beginners: 29 Guide To Pseudo Classes (Anchor, Links, Style)
CSS3 Tutorial for Beginners: 29 Guide To Pseudo Classes (Anchor, Links, Style) ★ SUMMARY ★ Hello and Welcome to another CSS Tutorial for beginners. In this tutorial what we're going to do is talk about pseudo classes. Typically pseudo classes are used for links, and they're basically fake classes or subclasses that you can use in order to stylize elements of your website that the user has interacted with. There are quite a handful of pseudo classes. The more common ones are things like: link, active, hover, visited, etc. As I said, they're usually used for links, which allow you to change the style of a link that's being hovered over or pressed or that has been already visited by the user and more. However, there are multiple other pseudo-classes that can be used for other elements as well. Why to use CSS selectors instead of adding styles inline
So far we've used the "style" HTML property to apply our CSS to specific elements. But, when we have multiple elements that share the same CSS, we can avoid the problems of copying and pasting identical code by using selectors. In this video we introduce you to selector basics.

React Inline Styles and the Future of CSS
Writing and maintaining CSS for large applications (and large teams) can be challenging. Teams often have trouble with brittle selectors, naming collisions, specificity, and pile-ups of dead code. After seeing these issues first-hand on large projects, we built Radium: a JavaScript library for styling React applications with inline styles. In the context of a React application, inline styling elegantly solves many of the issues with large-scale CSS. It also gives you the benefits of a CSS preprocessor like Sass, with extra power for expressive styling. In the screencast below, I compare the benefits of approaches like Radium to some upcoming and proposed additions to the CSS specification that will help make scalable CSS easy in the future, whether you’re using React or not. I’ll also cover: CSS Modules Shadow DOM CSS Variables and Custom Media Queries Native CSS Extends

Drupal 7 Sweaver Module: Change your theme style with no CSS code
Drupal 7 Sweaver Module: Change your theme style with no CSS code Daily Dose of Drupal episode 185 Video on Code Karate website - http://codekarate.com/daily-dose-of-drupal/drupal-7-sweaver-module-change-your-theme-style-no-css-code The Drupal 7 Sweaver module makes it easy to change the style of your Drupal theme without having to write any CSS code or dig through any template files. The Sweaver module provides a simple to use designer toolbar that sits at the bottom of the page and allows you to instantly change the look of your Drupal theme. The interface itself is not perfect, there are a few bugs with the toolbar, however it's still incredibly useful. You can change fonts, borders, spacing, backgrounds and much more. Plus you can even add your own CSS properties to extend the module to do exactly what you need it too. You can also easily save and load different saved styles making it easy to change the entire look of your site at a moments notice. If you are already an experienced Drupal themer, this module is probably not for you. However if you are just getting started with Drupal or don't know much about CSS, subthemes, or theme template files, this module might save you a lot of time. Here are the basic steps for using this module: 1. Install and enable the Drupal 7 Sweaver module 2. Use the style tab of the Sweaver design toolbar at the bottom of the page to change your theme style without CSS. You will need to click the element on the page that you want to style. This will turn on the style options for you to change. You can configure the font, borders, padding, margin, background, width/height, and much more. You can also upload images using the images tab on the Sweaver toolbar. 3. Once your style is the way you like it, you can click the Save tab to save your design. You can also choose to publish it to your Drupal site. This will allow all users to see your design (Note: you may need to clear the cache for anonymous users to see your design because of caching). 4. You can save and load multiple designs using the Drupal Sweaver module So check out the module and let me know what you think. I would always recommend going the Theme route if you know what you are doing, however this is still an option for those who want to stay as far away from code as possible. Happy designing... no... happy Sweavering!!! Firebug CSS Demo WordPress Meetup CLT
Clayton Allen, @CEO_Allen walks our WordPress group through Firebug in WordPress. For more information on Firebug or to get a firebug free download for your browser see getfirebug.com Chat notes from our session Ganti M 13:10 I started using it from last couple of weeks. @brettbum 13:16 that's new to me. didn't know you could see the padding/border etc around an image Ganti M 13:18 had lot of trouble figuring out the Div, Class and ID and which one do you make change, that is applicable to that page So you need to go and write at the bottem of style.css file @brettbum 13:21 Here are 3 plugins for wordpress for any theme if you do not want to touch your style.css file Most recently supported http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/my-custom-css/ Not recently supported http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/pc-custom-css/ http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/best-custom-css/ Ganti M 13:21 Thank you Brett @brettbum 13:22 np some themes like woo themes have their own built in system essentially, some don't Ganti M 13:23 I started using iThemes, Builder Responsive and it has a style manager, which accepts special CSS. iThemes Builder is excellent and I really like it Steve F 13:26 I prefer to put all styles directly into *.css files. plugins and themes put all that data into the database which means extra queries and slower sights id / class div / span @brettbum 13:26 good point Steve When I'm developing I use the plugin, once I have things figured out, I generally lock it down in the main style sheet Steve F 13:26 you should only have one id per page where as class can be repeated Ganti M 13:28 Thank you steve. iThemes Builder keeps all the CSS info in the child theme Style.CSS file and is not in the database, as far as I know Ganti M 13:35 Thank you Clyton. Steve how do you change the page ID, is it WP assigned Shuttr Down left group chat. Shuttr Down joined group chat.
