Fin Whale The fin whale is the second largest creature on Earth after the blue whale. It has been severely affected by commercial whaling and now it is rare to see one. If you have seen one, consider yourself lucky! They can grow as long as 89 feet (27 m) in length and can weigh between 40 to 80 tons! The maximum ever recorded weighed in at 114 tons!! They can live to be over 100 years old if left alone. The fin whale’s body is built for speed and it can even go faster than the fastest ocean steamship. It’s capable of speeds of up to 37 km/h but can go short bursts of even 47 km/h, earning it the nickname “greyhound of the sea”. Fin Whales have a very unique coloring with the right underside of their jaw, right lip, and the right side of their baleen being a yellowish-white, while the left-side is gray, making them look asymmetrical. Fun fact, fin whales and blue whales make the lowest frequency sounds of any animals. When they were first recorded by submarines, scientists thought they were tectonic plates grinding. Kind of makes you wonder about what is causing other mysterious ocean sounds! 9.) Portuguese Man of War While this is often considered a jellyfish, the Portuguese man-of-war is actually not an “it” but a “they”! It is made up of a colony of organisms called polyps that work together known as a siphonophore. While the tentacles can extend 165 feet (50 m), the average is about 30 feet (9 m) long. Still nothing to scoff at!! Also known as “the floating terror”, their body is between 5 inches to a foot wide (13 cm- 130 cm). They are usually found in groups of about a thousand or more, and have no independent means of movement. They either drift on the currents or catch the wind, so even though you should be super careful of jellyfish, they aren’t ever out to get you on purpose! The tentacles on a man-of-war are extremely venomous and very painful if you get stung but they are rarely deadly. The venom is typically used to paralyze their prey, such as small fish and other smaller creatures. Also keep in mind that a man-of-war does not need to be alive in order to give off a powerful sting, even if it has washed up on shore and looks dead, it can still sting you! The Portuguese man-of-war floats around the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the Indian and Pacific. So keep an eye out if you are swimming around these areas! 8.) Giant Clam The giant clam is the largest living bivalve mollusk on earth. (Bivalve mollusks include clams, oysters, and mussels). Native to the warm waters of Australia's Great Barrier Reef, giant clams are capable of growing an average of 4 feet (1 m) in length and weighing close to 500 pounds (250 kg)! However, some species of clams have been known to grow as long as 6 feet. The large majority of a giant clam’s mass is in its shell, with the soft parts accounting for only approximately 10% of the weight. Giant clams are now endangered because they apparently are also quite delicious and have been hunted for centuries for its healthy protein. The giant clam has one chance to find its perfect home because once it chooses its spot, it stays there for the rest of its life. They can live up to 100 years or more, as long as they are in the wild. Most of the giant clams you see today have been raised in captivity and are really popular in large aquariums. Giant clams achieve their enormous proportions by consuming the sugars and proteins produced by the billions of algae that live in their tissues. This symbiotic relationship protects the algae and they are responsible for the unique coloration. No two giant clams are alike! 7.) Great White Shark According to National Geographic, great white sharks are the largest predatory fish in the world. They grow to an average of 15 feet (4.6 m) in length. However, there have been some who have grown to 20 feet (6 m) in length! In fact, the largest Great White Shark ever recorded in the wild was estimated to be 26 feet long, which is more than half the length of a basketball court. Combine this with a bunch of teeth, and this is why people get so scared. They are known to weigh up to 5,000 pounds (2268 kg). The heaviest Great White Shark ever recorded in the wild was estimated to weigh in at a whopping 7,328 pounds. . 10 BIGGEST Underwater Creatures In The world!

Japanese Spider Crab For starters, let's think about some sea creatures you'd see on or near a beach. What's the first thing you see? For me, it's a crab. They're always wandering around, and if you're not careful, you can step on one, and you'll regret it...trust me on that. 9. Giant Clams When you hear those words, "Giant Clams", you likely think about a movie you've seen, or a TV show that exaggerated the massive size of these clams. I'm curious though, which one was it for you? 8. Portuguese Man-Of-War The sea is truly full of wonders, and because of that, we're still trying to learn all the secrets that it holds. Take, for example, the Portuguese Man-Of-War. When you look at it, what species of animal do you think it is? A jellyfish? A good guess, but that's actually incorrect. In fact, the Portuguese Man-Of-War is a collection of organisms that work together to move and act. 7. Ocean Sunfish Sticking with the "oddities" portion of the ocean, let's talk about the Ocean Sunfish. This creature is affectionately known as the "Swimming Head". Can you guess why? That's right, it's because it doesn't have a tail. If you look closely at it, you'll see that it's literal all rigid, save for its mouth of course. 6. Giant Squid Whether on the land, in the air, or in the ocean, there are tales of massive creatures that roam the waters and have caused havoc for humans that have gotten in their way. The Giant Squid is most certainly one of them. In fact, many feel that the Giant Squid is the basis for the legend of the Kraken, which is understandable given how massive these creatures are. 5. Basking Shark Sharks are famous, and notorious for being some of the most vicious and aggressive creatures within the ocean. So it might just surprise you to learn that the Basking Shark is not only the second-largest fish within the ocean itself, but it's also one of most gentle sharks in the water. That sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it? 4. Whale Shark So, if the Basking Shark is the second-largest fish in the sea, what's the first? Well, that would be the Whale Shark, another creature that sounds like an oxymoron, yet this time works out when you think about it. After all, whales are massive, and this one definitely qualifies. True, it's shark nature is downplayed, just like the Basking Shark, but if we're focusing on size, this is one creature that lives up to the name both times. 3. Oarfish Speaking of wonders, let's talk about one that is so mysterious, so odd, and so rarely seen that when it first was taken in a picture, people actually thought of as a hoax. We speak of the Oarfish. This is a large fish that is actually the largest "bony fish" alive. In fact, the largest one found was 36 feet long. 2. Blue Whale So, we've already talked about the biggest fishes in the sea, but when it comes to mammals, there is only one candidate, the Blue Whale. In fact, the Blue Whale is so huge, that it dwarfs many man-made creations. This is a creature that is nearly 110 feet long! That's basically an 11-story building, and it probably weighs as much as that building, if not more! 1. Lion's Mane Jellyfish When we talked about the Portuguese Man-O-War, we noted that its tentacles reached at their peak 135 feet long. But noted that this was a rarity. In contrast, the Lion's Mane Jellyfish averages a tentacle length of 120 feet. And that's not including their bodies. Which means that the tentacles alone are bigger than the biggest creature in the sea via the Blue Whale.

10 Biggest Sea Creatures

09:41
From an unbelievable monster squid, to the massive Blue Whale … Here are 10 of the World’s Biggest Sea Creatures! Lion’s Mane Jellyfish This is considered the largest species of jellyfish on the planet. The largest recorded specimen had a bell that measured more than 7.5 feet … and tentacles over 120 feet long. They use their stinging tentacles to capture and eat prey like fish and smaller jellyfish. They come in a variety of colors, and tend to favor cold water environments from the Arctic to the Northern Pacific Oceans. Both of those qualities were captured on film by Alexander Semenov … a marine biologist who took a series of stunning photographs featuring the massive jelly. He had occasion to take the pictures while diving in the remote waters of the White Sea Biological Station on the coast of western Russia. Diving in waters of minus-2 degrees Celsius, the environment is clear enough to see 40 meters underwater. That yielded these images that give the creature an alien look, as it's thin tentacles billow about, searching for prey. Did you know that larger specimens of these jellyfish are usually purple … while smaller, younger jellies are often lighter orange or tan. Monster Squids Giant squids are deep ocean creatures that are said to grow up to 43 feet long … that’s second only to the length of the Colossal Squid, estimated at some 46 feet and can weigh more than 1,600 pounds. They’re two of the largest living organisms in the world, and are often thought to be the real-life basis of the mythical Kraken. In 2015, Russian fishermen encountered a gigantic squid that tried to feast on a fish they were hauling to their vessel. You can see images of the squid captured from video. The men prodded the creature with poles and seemed to drive it away, but it kept grabbing at the fish with its beak. After battling back and forth with the immense creature, it finally gave up and swam away. But in all the confusion, it was never established whether the cephalopod was a giant squid or a colossal squid. We found this photo, but not a whole lot of information to go with it. It’s said to be a huge creature -- obviously -- that was caught in Cambodia. We haven’t been able to identify the location, but it does appear that the animal is surrounded by net fishermen … Although it seems those folks would need more than a net to capture a beast that size! We tend to think this picture may have been manipulated. For one thing, the creature seems to be laying on the bottom of what appears to be a rather shallow pond … so how would it be able to swim to that location? We’re not 100% convinced on this one … What do you think? Blue Whale This is an easy choice for the second spot … the Blue whale is the largest animal known to have ever existed! Because of their massive size, the animals are difficult to weigh … but the heaviest estimated weight recorded was around 191 tons, although experts feel the creatures could easily weigh 200 tons or more. The greatest recorded length for a blue whale was around 104ft. These animals have a diet made up mostly of krill … and they can put away some 40 million krill -- or the near equivalent of 8,000 lbs -- each day. Did you know Blue Whales belong to the same family as Humpback Whales? What sea creature could possibly be bigger than the blue whale? Well, the answer could be … the sea itself! That’s according to a study conducted by the University of Illinois. It suggests that the sea became a type of global ‘mega-organism’ that covered the Earth some 3 billion years before giving rise to the progenitors of all living creatures today. Scientists refer to this massive organism as LUCA (L-U-C-A) … it’s an acronym for ‘Last Universal Common Ancestor’. And the study indicates that LUCA is traceable to every domain of life … including animals, plants and fungi (fun-jie). Experts say it was this mega-organism that filled the Earth’s oceans, and became a type of global genetic exchange for cells that struggled to survive on their own. Those cells freely swapped their genes and proteins with one another for hundreds of millions of years, giving rise to a massive single organism … which eventually split into the domains of bacteria, eukaryotes (you-kare-ee-oats), and archaea (ar-kee-uh). As cells evolved ways of providing for their own existence, LUCA was broken apart … giving rise to the birth of all things living today! Top 20 Largest Sea Creatures that EVER Existed!

From giant sharks to huge whales there are some amazing large sea monsters that have inhabited our oceans. You'll be amazed by this list of the Top 20 Largest Sea Creatures that EVER Existed! Thalattoarchon - As of this video, not a whole lot is known about the Thalattoarchon, considering it was only discovered about 4 years ago. Thalassomedon - If the Loch Ness monster was real, then cross your fingers that it isn’t a Thalassomedon. Giant Pacific Octopus - At up to 30 feet long, from head to the tip of its tentacles, and weighing anywhere around 130 to 165 lbs. Nothosaurus - The Nothosaurus were notorious predators during the Triassic era, as they are known to have been blitz hunters, in that they preferred attacking swiftly and by surprise to capture their prey. Giant Squid - Jaekelopterus - The Jaekelopterus is the kind of creature that you can usually find in science fiction stories. Tanystropheus - At 20 feet long and with a weight clocking around at only 0.4 tons, the Tanystropheus doesn’t look like it’s much of a threat compared to the other creatures on this list. Giant Oarfish - Oarfish are a pretty rare sight in the world today, which gave way to the superstition that there’s a disaster coming when they wash ashore. Liopleurodon - The Liopleurodon is the perfect poster boy for nightmares that could be found in the oceans prehistoric or otherwise. Dakosaurus - This monster from the Jurassic period is believed by experts to be similar to modern day crocodiles. Edestus - The Edestus is a prehistoric shark that lived around 300 million years ago, in an era known as the Carboniferus period. Shastasaurus - The Shastasaurus is another one of the Triassic period’s giant marine monsters. This 65-foot long reptile belonged to the Ichthyosaur family and weighed somewhere around 5 tons. Mosasaurus - If you've seen Jurassic world, you'll recognize this creature. Though, back when it was alive, it was a surface dweller, rather than a performing monkey at an extremely dangerous amusement park. Tylosaurus - The Tylosaurus is what you could call a close cousin of the Mosasaurus. young.Whale Shark - Whale sharks, if anything, hold the right to bear the title of “gentle giant.” Sperm Whale - Sperm whales can grow up to lengths of 67 feet and can weigh approximately 45 tons. Basilosaurus - Despite its name suggesting that it’s a reptile, the Basilosaurus is actually an ancestor of the modern day whale. Fin Whale - Fin Whales are known as the second-largest animal in the world, which is just right behind the Blue Whale – another entry in this list – in terms of size. Blue Whale - Blue whales are the largest animals known to man. Standing at around 90 feet long, with a weight reaching up to 200 tons, these aquatic marvels are also becoming rarer and rarer in the world today. Megalodon - Despite being slightly smaller than the blue whale, its maximum size is still heavily debated, and given its ferociousness, you'd probably be frightened into thinking it was bigger than any other creature in this video.

FRIENDLIEST Sea Creatures

10:06
The sea is home to one of the most significant parts of the animal kingdom anywhere on Earth. Even though there are numerous creatures that can eat you with ease, there are equally as many creatures that are ready to swim and play with you. Many of the animals that call the ocean their home are incredibly intelligent, playful, and are some of the friendliest creatures anywhere. Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 3. Jellyfish in Jellyfish Lake You should avoid most jellyfish from around the world due to their toxic stingers that can cause significant pain to humans. However, a small lake in Palau is home to a unique species of jellyfish that are missing these poisonous stingers. Thanks to the lack of stingers, these jellyfish make for one of the most peaceful creatures in the sea. The jellyfish that have survived in this lake has done so thanks to a unique metabolic process. By feeding on fast-growing algae, the jellyfish in this lake are capable of surviving on little food with no predators. As the sun moves across the lake growing natural algae, the jellyfish migrate from one end of the lake to another. These migrations when seen from above looks impressive and brings in many tourists. A trip to Jellyfish lake has been a fantastic trip many tourists have embarked on for many years. Recently, the government has temporarily shut down the ability to snorkel with these sea creatures due to a sudden drop in the population of jellyfish in the lake. Between the extreme drought and El Nino weather pattern in the area, the jellyfish population has dwindled to alarmingly low numbers. Hopefully, with increased rain and better climate conditions, these amazing creatures will flourish again. 2. Beluga Whale http://everythingchurchill.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/Beluga_051.jpg http://everythingchurchill.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/Beluga_07.jpg As with the Humpback Whale, the Beluga whale makes our list as one of the friendliest sea creatures. These massive white whales are beautiful creatures that are found in arctic to sub-arctic ocean temperatures. Due to their nature to travel in groups of 10 or more, these whales make for majestic animals that are friendly to all humans. Measuring in over 18 feet long, and over 3000 pounds, the Beluga whale is a fantastic sight to see. Thanks to its high pitched tweets, the Beluga whale is sometimes referred to as the sea canary. The Beluga whale also has the unique ability to mimic human speech through its high pitched sounds. In the wild, the cry of a Beluga whale has even been compared to the shouting of children. The first Beluga whale was brought into captivity in 1861, marking the first time a whale was kept in captivity. As with Humpbacks, it is best to experience Beluga whales from a distance to their large size. One of the most well-known places to view the Beluga whale is in the Northern Hudson Bay coastline. During June to mid-September, this bay becomes home to over 50,000 beluga whales. Local tourist companies offer small boats that can be taken out to the bay to view the whales up close. Even from the distance of a boat, these creatures can be seen in all their beauty as they breach the ocean’s surface and playfully swim beneath your boat. 1. Sea Otters Between their cute fur covered body, to their ability to play and problem solve, the Sea Otter is one of the friendliest creatures living in the ocean. Similar to Humpback whales, the Sea Otter was hunted for hundreds of years. It wasn’t until the 20th century that Sea Otters saw a massive spike in their population. After Zoos started to bring Sea Otters in for exhibits, the public fell in love with these friendly animals. Sea Otters are one of the smallest marine mammals, measuring about 4 feet long. While they are descendants of the weasel family, they are the heaviest members weighing in from 50 to 100 pounds. As with some sea creatures, Sea Otters are intelligent. Many Otters love to dine on clams and other shelled animals of the ocean. Since they do not have the strength to break the shells, many otters will store rocks under their arms as they hunt to help break the shells open. The best way to experience a sea otter is in a zoo or other aquarium. Many zoos offer dedicated exhibits that allow guests to experience first hand the friendly Sea Otter. These exhibits usually include allowing the guest to feed the sea otter and participate in a training session alongside professional animal trainers. A handful of zoos even offer guests the ability to swim with the sea otters for a short period, giving them the opportunity to play with these friendly creatures.

TOP 10 BIGGEST SEA DINOSAURS

11:29
Meet the 10 largest marine dinosaurs that inhabited the planet. It is worth mentioning that these are not exactly dinosaurs but marine reptiles, but they are known because they shared the same period as the dinosaurs, they even have the saurian ending in their names. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -SHASTASAURUS This genus of the Shastasauridae family and the ichthyosaurs order, it is the largest marine reptile ever found. -MOSASAURUS The mosasaur or mosasaurus is a genus of the mosasauridae family, a group of extinct aquatic lizards and carnivores that, as we have seen, also involved the Tylosaurus and the hainosaurus. -SHONISAURUS It was a genus of the Shastasauridae family that belonged to the Ictiosauria order that, like the order of the Plesiosauria, descended from reptiles. -PLIOSAURUS It is a genus of the Pliosauradae family and the Plesiosauria order composed of six species that lived between 155 and 147 million years ago, in the middle and late Jurassic periods in the seas surrounding what is Europe and South America today. -ELASMOSAURUS It is a genus of dinosaur that belongs to the Elasmosauridae family and the Plesiosauria order and that lived eighty million years ago, during the Cretaceous period in the Western Interior Seaway. -TYLOSAURUS It is a genus of marine animals that belongs to the mosasauridae family. Its name means lizard of great protuberance. -HAINOSAURUS It was a marine lizard genus that was part of the mosasauridae family. It lived at the end of the Cretaceous period. Its skull measured 4.9 feet and had jaws with more than 60 teeth. -THALASSOMEDON It is a genus of Elasmosauridae, of the Plesiosauria order. It lived 95 million years ago, during the Cretaceous period, in what is now North America. -STYXOSAURUS It is a Elasmosauridae family genus of the Plesiosauria order. It lived between 85 and 71 million years ago, during the Cretaceous period, in the seas that crossed and surrounded what is now the United States. -ALBERTONECTES His name means Alberta swimmer. It was discovered thanks to mining excavations that were being carried out in the Bearpaw formation, in Alberta, Canada. -KRONOSAURUS It measured from 29.5 to 34.4 feet in length and was approximately 6.5 feet in height. In total, it could weigh eleven tons. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- About Us: Trend Max is an education and entertainment channel dedicated to creating interesting Tops and Lists. The world’s largest creatures reside in the ocean, and its depths are home to unusual species whose surprising proportions are unknown on land. And yet, no prehistoric animal ever discovered has been bigger than a blue whale. It's scary to think how much of our ocean depths are still completely unexplored. The problem with a blue whale being the culprit is that the loudest sound ever recorded by a blue whale could only just reach the range of 1000 miles. FRIENDLIEST Sea Creatures Around The World!

Check out the friendliest sea creatures around the world! Sea Lions Sea Lions have long been associated with friendly interactions with humans, so much so that they form a large part of Peruvian culture- having been worshipped by the people there and depicted in numerous artworks. They are highly intelligent animals, which means they can learn tricks to entertain crowds, and are quite curious so they will often swim up alongside humans and play with them in the water. They are also used by the US military to assist SCUBA diving teams look for underwater mines and, in some instances, detain divers who have accessed restricted areas until authorities can arrive. Sea lions and dolphins are used as combat marine units and sea lions especially, have excellent eyesight. Sea lions are hardy, smart, and trainable and they have the added advantage that they are amphibious and can easily hand things to their handlers. This all makes Sea Lions sound like gentle creatures, but it’s important to know that sea lions have another side to them. If they aren’t treated well or respectfully, they can become quite aggressive. This can also happen with male Sea Lions because they are very territorial during mating season. If it looks like you’re bothering one then stay away but, if not, they are one of the friendliest sea creatures you’ll ever meet. 9. Beluga Whale Beluga Whales are native to the Arctic and sub-arctic, and are uniquely adapted to the cold waters. They are white in color, don’t have a dorsal fin, and have an enlarged head, which contains an organ called a melon that is used for echolocation. Beluga’s were actually the first type of whale to be kept in captivity, with the first being shown at Barnum’s museum in New York in 1861. To this day they are still the most commonly seen animal in marine parks across North America, Europe and Asia- mainly because they are much smaller than other species of whale and easier to contain. They are also a hit with visitors because of their unusual colour and wide range of facial expressions. They are really curious about the people who visit them, and often perform in shows with trainers who they develop deep bonds with. Since 1992 it has been forbidden to capture Belugas in Canada because of concerns for the population numbers in the wild, so now most of them come from Russia. They are so popular that each one can cost as much as 100,000 dollars. Whale watching tours are a great way to see them in their natural habitat, but it’s important for the boat not to get too close to them because of the way it can interrupt their daily activities. Quite often they enjoy interacting with the boats so much that they get distracted from things like feeding, social interaction with their own species, and breeding. They get so caught up in the moment, they forget what they’re supposed to be doing!! 8. Whale Shark You might not think a shark with a five-foot-wide mouth and more than 3,000 teeth would be the friendliest of creatures, but whale sharks are the most gentle of all shark species. They pose no threat to humans at all, and are usually pretty welcoming to those who want to swim alongside them. Despite their huge mouth, their throats are only the width of a US quarter, and they only eat tiny micro-organisms. Their average speed through the water is about 3 miles per hour, so they are easy to keep up with, and in a lot of tourist areas they are used to the presence of humans in the water, and don’t really seem to be bothered. Cancun is one of the best places to swim with these giants of the ocean, where you’ll really feel small next to a 65-foot-long and 12 ton fish. There really is nothing quite like being surrounded by a few of them, and the experience draws tourists from all over the world. If you visit “Las Afueras” you’ll even have a chance to be amongst a feeding frenzy of hundreds of them, which is a spectacular feat of nature. 7. Manatees Manatees, or sea cows, are also known as gentle giants, and it’s clear to see why. They are fully aquatic and feed mainly on plant life that they sift from the water. They can grow to up to 13-feet-long, weigh about 1,300 pounds, and push their way through the water with their paddle like limbs. The Biggest Unknown Underwater Creatures On Earth

12:16
Top 10 most amazing animals found in the ocean Subscribe to TheHub http://goo.gl/87YJzG For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Remember those fishing trips with your parents when you were just a kid? You’d be amazed every time you caught something, and your parents would act impressed, too, even if it was smaller than your palm. At the time you’d find it hard to believe that there were creatures in the ocean bigger than that. Obviously, now that you’ve grown older, you’re aware of some of the huge beasts that grace our seas. Of course, there’s the blue whale or the great white shark, but have you ever considered some of the lesser-known creatures out there? We’ve put together a list of some of the biggest living things you’ll find in the ocean – although they’re not necessarily all things you would like to catch. For example, you most definitely do not want to come across a Giant Spider Crab while paddling at the shore, although chance would be a fine thing, as they don’t tend to swim to the surface. Or what about the Fin Whale? A far friendlier giant, it’s one you should try and see in your lifetime – if it doesn’t get hunted into extinction anytime soon. If you’re venturing further afield, and happen to be in Antarctica, you might be lucky enough to be greeted by a Southern Elephant Seal. You’ll be surprised to find out why it’s named that, too. Some other interesting beasts in our video include the Lion’s Mane Jellyfish, the Oceanic Manta Ray and the Whale Shark, but you’ll have to watch the video to find out the rest.

10 Shockingly Large Creatures That Actually Exist

07:00
top 10 biggest animals and creatures that will scare you Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Compared to the size of the Earth, humans are pretty darn small. It’s just a fact of life that we already know, but we don’t necessarily “see” it until we are next to something so much bigger than us. Regardless of whether you believe in a creator, in evolution, or both, humans and animals were created to be a certain size for a reason. So when we encounter a creature that is so large that it shocks you to the core, the world definitely takes notice. When it’s an animal that is supposed to be smaller, it’s even more shocking. Scientists then desperately want to intervene and they want to know more about how this animal could have grown to such large proportions. Was it because of genetics? Nuclear waster? An anomaly in the animal kingdom? These creatures certainly prove that we still have a lot to learn about the world around us. In this video are ten shockingly large creatures that actually exist. From creatures that were meant to be small, to creatures that are out of this world in their size, we have to wonder whether or not bigger is always better? Some of these creatures were intentionally modified to grow to their incredible size while others have genetics and Mother Nature to thank! You could even consider some of these creatures as additional wonders to the world. While we would like to think that we know everything about the world around us, we have only skimmed the surface. LARGEST Prehistoric Sea Monsters !

08:49
From gigantic marine reptiles; to a whale that challenged Megalodon Here are 14 of the largest prehistoric sea monsters Subscribe to Epic Wildlife http://goo.gl/6rzs5u Let's Connect -- http://www.epicadamwildlife.com/ -- http://www.facebook.com/epicadamwildlife -- http://www.twitter.com/epicwildlife -- http://gplus.to/epicwildlife Liopleurodon Identified as pliosaurs, these carnivorous marine reptiles lived during the Middle to Late Jurassic. In its time, it would have been an apex predators in the waters that covered present day Europe. Growing more than 20 feet long, the animal’s skull accounted for about one-fifth of that length. Researchers think that might account for the beast being able to use its nostrils to detect the source of certain smells in its environment. That would have been a useful trait, since the critter seemed capable of propelling itself at high speeds in the water -- suggesting that it could have been an ambush predator. Tylosaurus This species of Mosasaur was closely related to present day day snakes and monitor lizards. The large marine lizards could reach lengths of close to 50 feet, and was distinguished by its long, cylindrical snout. Experts speculate that it may have been used for purposes of self-defense and/or combat to stun prey. Its long, eel-like body was built for speed and agility. The animal could cruise at a steady rate … then shoot forward in a quick burst of speed to overtake prey. It generally favored a wide range of prey, from marine reptiles to sharks to flightless birds. They were dominant predators in the waters of North America during the Late Cretaceous, around 75 million years ago. Mosasaurus (moss-uh-sore-us) Here’s a critter whose name has become a lot more familiar in recent years. The huge carnivorous marine lizard lived during the Late Cretaceous, around 66 million years ago. Growing nearly 60 feet long, the beasts could weigh an estimated 30,000 pounds! Their massive, conical teeth clamped into prey that ranged from sharks to dinosaurs of the time. Their fossils have been found across much of the globe … with experts saying they could exist in saltwater or freshwater habitats. Did you know these creatures are thought to be related to present-day lizards like the Komodo dragon? Megalodon (thumb) Our number one scary critter is just ahead … First, here’s an Honorable Mention. And we have a name that is no doubt synonymous with ‘prehistoric deep sea predator’. Megalodon has to be included on this kind of list. But the humongous ancient fish gets a fair amount of publicity from Epic Wildlife, so we don’t want to overexpose the beast. Still, it must be mentioned that Megalodon was about as long as a school bus, with lengths estimated to exceed some 60 feet. We’re not sure if the beast in the picture is meant to be Megalodon, of if it’s meant to represent a kayaker’s worst nightmare. While the animal had jaws more than 6.5 feet across, it couldn’t necessarily swallow one of those vessels whole. But it could have devoured a human in one bite. And researchers say they had one of the most powerful bite forces of all time. In their time, they were thought to have hunted down whales. They resembled a much larger version of today’s great white shark, and were wide ranging creatures … their fossils have been found around the world. Livyatan Melvilli Recall that we just mentioned how Megalodon hunted whales when it swam the oceans. This is one of the whales it could have encountered millions of years ago. And it would have provided a big challenge for that big shark. Livyatan Melvilli was named for Leviathan, the sea monster in the Bible … and for Herman Melville, the author of Moby Dick. The marine mammals were similar in size to today's sperm whales, measuring close to 60 feet long. Maybe more impressive was the size of their teeth … at 14 inches long, they’re among the largest teeth of any animal yet discovered. Along with Megalodon, it was an apex predator that roamed the same waters and hunted the same prey as its rival -- which included other whales. Which one would win a battle of these prehistoric super predators?

12 BIGGEST Legendary Sea Monsters

11:02
From the Kraken who’s waiting to be released! To the demon like merman with the body of a shark, here are 12 Biggest Legendary Sea Monsters Subscribe to American Eye NOW 6. Moby Dick This is the whale featured in one of the greatest American novels of all time by Herman Melville, Moby Dick or the Whale that bit off the captain, Ahab’s leg at the knee. This giant whale, is described by Ishmael as having a peculiar snow white wrinkled forehead with high pyramidical white hump. The rest of its body was striped with patches of white and gray. It was never mentioned exactly how large it was but this was claimed to be the largest sperm whale in existence. Sperm whales can grow up to 90 feet so we imagine maybe twice that size. A ferocious sperm whale was found off the coast of Chile, in the 1830’s that was rumored to have taken 20 harpoons to take her down. 5. Adaro Imagine mermaids being a little more demon-like and that’s basically what an adaro is. This creature is apart of mythology from the Solomon Islands and are described as a man will gills behind his ears, tail fins for feet, a horn like a shark's dorsal fin with a sword fish growing out of his head like see in this photo. Doesn’t sound too inviting! They’re supposedly very dangerous like you could imagine and they come from the evil side of a person’s spirit. They travel in tropical storms and along rainbows and prey upon unsuspecting fishermen. 4. Ogopogo Also known as the Naitaka, is a cryptid lake monster said to live in lake Okanagan, British Columbia and was spotted by the natives of the land, known as first nations since the 19th century. It’s described as being 40-50 feet long. A cryptozoologists thought that it’s possible that the tribes were misinterpreting common animals such groups of eels, otters, and floating logs. Another sighting occurred in 1926 by about 30 people who all saw the same exact thing, and believed it was a legendary creature. More people are just claiming that their logs again after a mysterious video was made public in 2011. Could all these mysterious sitings really just be logs. Would it be too farfetched to believe a prehistoric creature, undisturbed by man lives in an isolated lake? Ogopogo has become a hit in pop culture especially in the local area. 3. The Megalodon Now we know that megaladon’s do exist but the real question is, are there possibly a few still out there somewhere? Probably not but legends certainly seem to float around quite often that these monsters are still lurking the oceans, somewhere. If you’re not frightened by a giant, 60 foot shark we’re not exactly sure what will. This thing was roaming the seas about 23 to 2.6 million years ago with gaping jaw over large enough that a person could stand inside, like we see here. Each tooth is about the size of your hand and they had 276 of these. They could certainly swallow you whole in one gulp without even taking a bite.. This is considered to be the most powerful vertebrate predator in the history of all time. These guys ate whales for breakfast and sea cows for a snack. Fossils of whales show huge bites ripped out of them. This beast needed a massive amount of food to stay alive and it certainly got just that when it was able to spot a potential prey with also the most powerful bite of any known species. This thing was just as fierce as you could possibly imagine. 2. Aspidochelene This fabled sea creature is actually a giant sea turtle that appears as an island or whale at first glance. When sailors get too close to this creature, it then destroys their ship. There are a few cultures that refer to this creature including the Inuit of Greenland, that would tip over the boats into freezing waters, causing the sailors to die as well as the one in Chile, that just simply devours everything in it’s path. Also interestingly enough, the name of the island in the pacific called tortuga literally translates to turtle because the Spanish because of the shape of the island while coming in on boat.. This cargo ship you see here in this slightly photoshopped photo is in serious trouble and is heading straight for a massive turtle monster in the ocean! While exploring the oceans, it easy to see how the unknown could lead to legends especially to scare new shipmates. 1. Humanoid Mermaids These legendary creatures with the lower half of fish and the upper half of a beautiful woman, are thought to be a part of the lustful imagination of sailors who’ve spent too much time out on the sea. However, coming across one wasn’t such a good sign. They were often thought to be a bad omen and these creatures would distract sailors, forcing them to crash into a cliffside or rock. While it might sound like an interesting tale, there have been sightings of mermaids all around the world and date as far back as 2000 BC during the Babylonian times. Here we see the Babylonian deity known as Oannes, the fish god. As a part

The one longer claw is actually as long as the creature’s body itself. #9 … Angler Fish -- This deep-sea creature is fairly well known for a deep sea denizen. So what’s it’s angle? The fish has an appendage growing out of its forehead that has a light on the tip. It uses this to attract prey, then devours them with its gaping mouth. #8 … Sulfur Lake -- Located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, this lake is notable for two features: It’s actually located underwater and it’s made entirely of molten sulfur. This area is teeming with creatures that seem uniquely designed for this location, like crabs and shrimp. #7 … Vampire Squid -- This bizarre creature doesn’t have fangs but it can put on a light show. It produces its own light through spots on its side and through glowing tentacle tips. When threatened, the Vampire Squid will eject an ink that glows. #6 … Frilled Shark -- Because they’ve been around so long, this animal is sometimes referred to as a living fossil because it’s changed so little over millions of years. Known for a mouth filled with 300 backward-facing, trident-shaped teeth aligned in 25 rows, it can consume prey half as long as its body. It prefers depths around 4200 feet, so it’s rarely seen. But one was captured in Japan in 2007. #5 … Alaskan Whale Deaths -- 30 whales beached themselves on Alaskan shores in 2015, and 29 of them were fin whales. Toxic algae was ruled out as the cause of death, since no other species stranded themselves on shore. Experts believe that all the whales died at the same time, but the mystery of this mass whale death still remains unsolved. A full-fledged investigation is expected to take years to complete. #4 … Milky Seas -- Sailors in the past told stories of encountering “milky, glowing waters”. In 1995, a British merchant ship documented that the waters appeared pale and milky-white. Scientists have determined that the cause of the glow is luminous bacteria. The bacteria starts lighting up in order to attract fish. Once the bacteria is ingested, the bacteria can live inside the animals. #3 … Mariana Trench Mystery Shark -- It’s a misnomer because footage of this shark was actually taken in Suruga (soo-gear-uh) Bay in Japan. And estimates that it measured 60-feet long turned out to be false, as was the notion it could be a Megalodon. It’s thought that this is either a six gill shark, which can grow up to 25 feet … or a Pacific sleeper shark, which can survive at depths as low as 9,000 feet. #2 … Giant Oar fish -- This creature can reach lengths up to 56 feet, and weigh up to 600 pounds. These creatures are largely unknown, but are thought to have been the reason for many sightings of sea serpents. Living in deep waters, Oar fish don’t spend much time on the surface. But in 2013, two of the animals made news when they washed ashore on California beaches. Scientists think that strong currents pushed the fish toward shore and they were battered to death by swells. #1 … Colossal Squids -- They can grow to nearly 50 feet long with 10 arms and eyes over a foot in diameter. These deep sea dwelling creatures are the largest known invertebrate in the world. Not a whole lot is known about them, but evidence suggests they’re loners and eat an enormous quantity of large fish. The largest colossal squid ever captured really lived up to its name: It weighed almost 1,100 pounds and was caught in New Zealand in 2007. 10 Creepy Sea Creatures You Didn't Know Existed

04:33
Did you know any of these amazing and scary deep sea creatures? It's hard to believe these bizarre animals exist. Subscribe: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg 'Hatchet Fish' footage by Filmic Art : www.filmicart.com For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Description: There is a vast world below the ocean that we have yet to discover in its entirety. While we seem to know nearly everything about the land, the sea still leaves much to be desired. As you go down into the depths of the ocean, you’ll notice a lot will change. For one, you’ll begin to be immersed in darkness. Second, the pressure will change. So, the creatures that have been discovered deep in the oceanic depths are quite different biologically, and they can be quite terrifying to look at. But once we begin to understand them, we can start to learn more about our existence, and even come closer to curing diseases and solving some of the world’s most complex mysteries. However, the sea creatures that have been discovered recently have shown to be just downright creepy and terrifying. You probably recall the Angler Fish, especially if you’re seen the Disney movie, “Finding Nemo”. If you didn’t realize that this fish is the real deal, get ready for new additions to your nightmares. It wasn’t a work of fiction or some messed up fantasy of some Disney Imagineer. The fish that we see in this video is actually female, and the male is a small weakling, wandering the sea to find a female with her pheromones. The male then attaches itself to the female and becomes a parasite. Every part of the male merges with the female except for the testicles, which the female uses to impregnate herself. Jokes aside, this is quite a fascinating process despite how creepy it is. Similar to the angler fish is the Viper Fish, which has a natural extra attachment that illuminates in the darkness of the sea with the purpose of attracting prey. The blob fish is a creature that you wonder what God was smoking or shooting up when he decided to create the blob fish. This fish has no bones, and literally just hangs out on the ocean floor and hopes that food comes to its mouth. Whether you want to worship the blob fish for its epic level of laziness or wonder how in the world the species is still in existence with such an apathetic demeanor, it’s still creepy to look at. Then we have the goblin shark, which is pretty much like the underwater version of the alien from the movie “Alien” due to its protruding mouth. The goblin shark has a large snout and needle-like teeth that are sharp and deadly. For a completely random sea creature, we have the Christmas Tree Worms, which really look like tiny walking fir trees that come in different colors. The branches or hair-like appendages help them breathe as well as consume phytoplankton. Then we have the sea pig, which looks nothing like the pigs we have on land. But instead the sea pig is a multi-tubed foot sea creature that is closely related to the sea cucumber. It eats by pulling water and absorbing organic food. Quite innovative, even though it looks creepy. For more creepy sea creatures, check out the rest of the video for more. SCARIEST Ancient Sea MONSTERS That Ever Lived!

Liopleurodon Just imagine what it’s like to swim alongside a creature that’s many times your size!! Pretty intimidating but still nothing like these guys. The Liopleurodon was one of the largest sea monsters that ever lived. At about 80 feet long, it was the alpha predator in the shallow waters during the late Jurassic period, where it hunted crocodiles and giant fish. 9. Kerygmachela Kierkegaardi The K Kierkegaardi is a strange creature that lived about 540 million years ago, and recent discoveries of their fossils have led to a completely new understanding of how animals’ brains have developed!! 8. Dakosaurus Dakosaurus lived during the Jurassic and Cretaceous eras about 145 million years ago. The species is often referred to as ‘Godzilla’ because of the deep shape of its skull, but it was more like a large crocodile that lived in the saltwater of the oceans. Growing up to 16 feet long, it had paddle shaped flippers to help propel itself through the water, as well as a fluke at the end of its tail to provide extra power. 7. Ichthyosaur Ichthyosaurs lived during the Triassic period until around 90 million years ago, when they mysteriously became extinct- about 25 million years before the event that wiped out the dinosaurs. Meaning ‘fish lizards’, Ichthyosaurs are actually thought to have evolved from a land reptile that moved back into the water, but it’s not yet clear what its precise ancestry is. 6. The Tully Monster If you were asked to design the strangest animal you could, then I bet you wouldn’t come up with something as weird as this odd looking creature, called the Tully Monster. Fossil findings suggest that it lived in the shallow waters of the Eastern United States about 300 million years ago, with remains having been found in the Mazon Creek fossil beds in Illinois. 5. Kronosaurus The Kronosaurus was a short necked pliosaur that lived during the Cretaceous era, just over 100 million years ago. They grew to around 32 feet long, 9 feet of which was its huge head- big enough that it could fit an entire human inside it! Remains have been found in Australia and Colombia, where it would have been the alpha predator of its time. 4. Anomalocaridids If you’re squeamish about creepy crawlies, then this next ancient sea monster is probably going to be your least favourite of all. Anomalocaridids were shrimp-like creatures that, for millions of years, were the largest predators in the oceans. They had soft jointed bodies, and spiny limbs to allow them to catch small prey like worms. 3. Tylosaurus The Tylosaurus- a name which means “knob lizard”, was one of the largest mosasaurs to ever live. They swam in the oceans during the Cretaceous era, about 70 million years ago, and grew to up to 50 feet long. They were different to earlier species of mosasaur that propelled themselves through the water with flippers and, instead, had giant tails that would do all of the work. 2. Luskhan Itilensis The Luskhan Itilensis is a new species of Pliosaur that was only recently identified in 2017 from fossils found 15 years earlier in the Volga river in Russia. Rather than being dinosaurs, they were actually distant relatives of turtles- with 4 large flippers, big heads, powerful jaws, and very sharp teeth. 1. Leedsichthys Growing up to 55 feet long, the Leedsichthys is thought to be the largest fish that has ever lived. (So this answer was actually pretty tricky!!) It’s difficult to know much about it, though, because only fragments of this giant creature have ever been found. At one point is was believed to be twice the size, but even the recent reduction in estimates based on new finds makes it bigger than today’s whale sharks, and by far the biggest bony fish that’s ever been discovered.
