In my opinion these books cover enough generic aspects of design, user engagement and behaviour to give you a better understanding of what to consider when providing a tangible solution to a problem worth solving. The books I cover here are: 5: Value Proposition Design - Alexander Osterwalder & Yves Pigneur https://amzn.to/2D3z3IC 4: The Art of Innovation - Tom Kelley https://amzn.to/2D4n6SV 3: Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products - Nir Eyal https://amzn.to/2D3B3k6 2: Don't Make Me Think - Steve Krug https://amzn.to/2D5nWit 1: The Design of Everyday Things - Don Norman https://amzn.to/2D4SCQE Of course, this is one man's opinion and very subjective. However, these books were very enlightening and useful to me. By all means, if you think other books should get a mention then please list them in the comments section and I'll look into them (if I haven't read them already). I hope you find this video useful and that these books help you on your entrepreneurial (and design!) journey. Web Design Books: 5 Fast Facts

02:28
See The 9 Best Web Design Books on Ezvid Wiki ►► https://wiki.ezvid.com/best-web-design-books Fact #1. If your intent is to become a professional web designer, self study is one of the best options. Specialty schools, professional tutoring, and apprenticeship all have a rather large price tag attached to them in comparison to books. They provide much the same knowledge, as well. Fact #2. Web design books are important for business owners and entrepreneurs looking to enter the growing startup economy. In this environment, cutting costs until investors arrive is usually a key factor. As a business owner, it may be better to learn basic concepts of web design before hiring an expensive designer. Fact #3. As the internet era took hold, the need for web designers exploded. This need is as present today as ever. Proper web design offers a business a consistent image, or brand. Over time, viewers begin to identify with this image. This brand awareness is actually a determining factor in whether or not a customer will choose a particular company. Consumers are much more likely to purchase from a brand they identify with. Fact #4. Controlling the customer journey is one of the most important aspects of web design. Most people put as little effort as possible into reading the contents of a site. This is why it's so important that the content and design match up. Proper web design will empower the content to catch the eye of the reader and keep them reading. Fact #5. Web design can also help to properly target the correct audience. Some target audiences respond well to a minimalist design. Others like things spelled out for them. Some readers require heavy logic and well-researched text. Others are affected solely by the emotional elements of web design. Understanding web design enough to create a site based around the target audience will ensure its success.

What Is Branding? | Graphic Design

02:59
Watch more How to Have a Career in Graphic Design videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/509208-What-Is-Branding-Graphic-Design This is a brand name. So, make the logo bigger is, like, the biggest joke of all time that a lot of us designers face, because people always want logos. And what are logos? They're not just a simple mark here or there with your name on it or a design with a smiley face or even something that you can just pull off of, like from a contest if there's a lot of contest sites online. A good logo is when someone actually takes a look at you and at your purpose, at your mission, at your target audience, at everything, and basically comes up with not just a logo, but your brand. And a brand is important because without a brand, a business doesn't really have an identity. So, just take note even the brand Adidas, how Adidas has like two different logos but you know them very well and Nike, Apple. Everything went through a process of being able to decide, okay, what's going to be a memorable mark. What's going to really represent us the right way. A designer that I love is David Airey and he wrote a really good book called "Logo Design Love." It talks about the process of creating a logo and creating a brand, which isn't just, like I said, designing, you know, beautiful pictures or designing pretty sketches and vectorizing them. It actually has a lot to do with researching the brand, researching who that person is, researching even their competitors to see does anyone else have this brand that might be mistaken for something else. I know that there's a lot of nursery schools that sometimes use the apple and then Apple gets upset and sometimes sues. And so, you have to make sure that you cover all bases. A lot of the process has a lot to do with sketching, so in David's book he talks about his whole process, like knowing the brand, even doing webs of the company, being able to determine, okay, this is a camera company, but they really are into saving the planet, so what can I do to kind of combine, you know, saving the planet with being a photographer? So, I'll do numerous amounts of sketches. The more sketches, the better. Once you do that, you're able to kind of pick out something that really sticks and then finalize it a little bit better. And then almost write a story. So, branding is not only is a mark, but it tells a story and it tells a story in which if you look at something, you'll be able to almost know exactly what that company does or exactly who that company is without even having a conversation with them. It's the thing that you're supposed to have that lures you in, or not even lures you in but gets you interested in what they're doing which is why branding is so important.

Business & Personal Branding Book | Power Branding Secrets

02:18
Business & Personal Branding Book | Power Branding Secrets http://www.powerbrandingsecrets.com/ answers the question, "What is branding?" I wrote Power Branding Secrets to help small businesses, entrepreneurs and startups to develop brands that grow into enduring, profitable enterprises. My purpose is to revive the ultimate Power Brand – America – and thus her economy. A small band of tireless entrepreneurs, energetic innovators, and emphatic voices can reignite the American small business culture by retooling their branding and business protocols and filling in the gaps of omitted know-how. Building a Power Brand requires proven and tested know-how, hard work, ingenuity, creativity, humility and a tremendous amount of bull-headed determination. Power brands are meticulously and systematically built. The elements of a Power Brand form into a previously unidentified triangle described and discussed in detail within his book. People within our society are quite conscious and concerned about their personal status and how they are perceived by others. They prefer to purchase branded products and services that showcase their status and position in life to their friends and to the world at large. Customers rely on branded products and services in order to be recognized and respected, as well as to reassure their own self-worth. They prefer to purchase from established brands, even when the price for doing so costs more than a non-branded product or service. A Power Brand is a highly effective device that catapults brand awareness above that of competitors, thus creating a definitive edge for your marketing, business development, and revenue. Moreover, a Power Brand permits customers to see a product or service as something more than utilitarian. Your brand becomes a part of something significant in their lives and is interwoven into their sense of well-being, providing a richer existence. Power Branding achieves previously unrealized benefits for your business or startup and it achieves these by telling people four important factors: Who you are. What you do. How you do it. The Tidy Books Story - From the violin workshop to global kid’s design brand

02:48
The Tidy Books story began with 3 year old Adele, who couldn’t find the book she wanted - it was ‘Babar the Elephant’ that time - and her mum Geraldine who suddenly understood that kids need a bookcase that simply makes sense to kids. When Geraldine set to work that night in her violin workshop back in 2004, she began a business which embodies her belief that designs for kids should be practical and beautiful. https://www.tidy-books.co.uk

The single biggest reason why startups succeed | Bill Gross

06:41
Bill Gross has founded a lot of startups, and incubated many others — and he got curious about why some succeeded and others failed. So he gathered data from hundreds of companies, his own and other people's, and ranked each company on five key factors. He found one factor that stands out from the others — and surprised even him. Which Mac to Buy in 2018? MacBook vs Air vs Pro!

10:40
Which MacBook model to buy in 2018: my complete guide to each Apple laptop & which one is right for you. Best deals on MacBooks: http://geni.us/macBook MacBook Pro: http://geni.us/macBookPro MacBook Air: http://geni.us/macbookAir Blog post: http://mytechmethods.com/guides/which-macbook-to-buy-2018 In this video I'll explain which MacBook to buy in 2018. Apple laptops are some of the best laptops. I've owned a Mac laptop for almost 9 years. They're very high quality, from the trackpad to the software to the retina displays and more, but also usually more expensive than other laptops but it's worth it if you know what you're getting. Currently there are 3 MacBook models: MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro. MacBook * Apple's 12" screen laptop; Base model starts at $1299 * Only MacBook available in 4 different colors: rose gold, space gray, gold, and silver * Base model has 7th-Gen 1.2GHz Intel Core m3 mobile processor; configurable to dual-core i5 or i7 * 8GB RAM (up to 16GB) and 256GB SSD (up to 512GB) Get MacBook if you * Care about looks more than performance (sexy; IPS Retina display with 226 ppi; colors) * Want something ultra portable and mobile; Apple's thinnest lightest laptop (2 lbs and up to 10 hours battery life) * Want the smallest screen of any Apple laptop (12" diagonal) * Only run basic applications, nothing too CPU dependent (base model has mobile processor) * Don't need a lot of ports (only 1 USB-C port for charging/input/output) * Don't mind having a crappy webcam (only 480p) MacBook Air * Base model starts at $999 * 13.3" screen; 8GB RAM; 128GB SSD (configurable to 256GB or 512GB) * 5th-Gen Intel dual-core i5 processor (can be upgraded to 2.2GHz Core i7) Get MacBook Air if you * Have the lowest budget (Apple's most affordable laptop) * Care about battery life more than anything (up to 12 hours; longest battery life of any Apple laptop) * Want a small lightweight laptop like the MacBook but with more ports (great for students and travelers) * Don't mind having a mediocre display (it's not an IPS Retina display; 1440x900 not even Full HD) * Don't mind having silver bezels (has fairly large bezels relative to its size) * Run the same basic applications that the MacBook is good for and if you know you don't need more than 8GB RAM (this is Apple's only laptop that is limited to 8GB) * Need an HD webcam (720p) * Don't need a lot of storage space on the laptop and you utilize Cloud storage or external drives (base model only has 128GB storage) MacBook Pro * MBP is special because it comes in a number of different configurations * Comes in silver or space gray and 2 screen sizes: 13.3" starting at $1299 (non-TouchBar) & $1799 w/ TouchBar. 15.4" starts at $1999 (2015 non-TouchBar model) & $2399 w/ TouchBar * All MacBook Pro models have IPS Retina displays (13" has 227ppi; 15" has 220ppi) and all MBP models can expect 9-10 hours battery life * 13" comes with 8GB RAM (configurable to 16GB); 15" comes with 16GB RAM * 13" starts at 128GB SSD (configurable up to 1TB); 15" starts at 256GB SSD (configurable to 2TB) * 13" starts with Intel 7th-Gen Kaby Lake dual-core i5 (configurable to dual-core i7) * 15" 2015 non-TouchBar comes with 4th-gen quad-core; 15" TouchBar comes with 7th-Gen Kaby Lake quad-core i7 Get 2015 15" MacBook Pro if you * Want an awesome laptop for under $2,000 (some say it's the best laptop ever made) * Want Mag-Safe * Want all the other ports besides USB-C (HDMI, SD slot, USB-A, Thunderbolt 2) * Don't mind having an older processor (4th-gen) * Want 15" size but no Touch Bar Get newest MacBook Pro if you * Want the best performance and fastest speed of all the Apple laptops (for professional work; 15" Touch Bar has the best specs out of all MBPs) * Need the most internal storage (only Apple laptop to be configured for 1-2TB of storage) * Want the best/brightest display out of all Apple laptops (The newest 13" and 15" MBPs have 25% more colors than sRGB and 500 nits of brightness; 2015 MBP has sRGB and 300 nits; 13" has the most ppi) * Run CPU-intensive or graphics-intensive applications like gaming, HD video editing, 3D modeling, CAD, virtual machines, hardcore Photoshop (For best graphics performance get 15" which has dedicated Radeon Pro GPU with up to 4GB memory) * Don't mind having a slightly bigger laptop compared to the other MacBook models (having said that, the 13" is a very compact and portable laptop) * Absolutely want TouchBar/TouchID (even though 13" MBP doesn't have it) * Are okay with having USB-C ports (USB-C to USB-A adapters are a must-have) * Have a large budget (expensive; can go over $4,000 for certain configurations) Subscribe! http://goo.gl/RqU0nl Twitter http://Twitter.com/slye Facebook http://Facebook.com/MyTechMethods Instagram http://instagram.com/slye Share this video! https://youtu.be/darOS3kBtfQ Thanks for watching my video: Which #Mac #Laptop to Buy! #MacBook vs Air vs Pro Royalty-free music: Artist: Nicolai Heidlas Title: Real Ride
