The Rolling Stone Magazine 500 Greatest Albums of All Time - Review

03:57
In between publishing a magazine that tries to appeal to both 60-year-old political junkies and 13-year-old Justin Bieber fans - and deciding every year to keep KISS out of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - Rolling Stone publishes "500 greatest of all time" lists. Tyrannosaurus Rocks' Dr. Lester S. Carboni and Rick Majestic wade into the latest one and find some albums you probably didn't know existed, let alone made it onto a list so large it's hard to imagine not getting on it.

Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers | BY ARCHIE®

15:00
Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers Of All Time This is one the most difficult video I ever made. I did my homework and read about all of them. I didnt know how much important Bob Dylan or Buddy Holly or some country or soul,R'N'B singers are. But I learned a lot while making it. Enjoy.:) Important is: 1.When did You started career-more time to influence others and develop status in music industry. 2.How big You are in You music genre-how much You influenced it, or even better if You are pioneer of certain genre. 3.How much Your work made an impact on culture in general and music in general. 4.How many good artist have You influenced. 5.How much You influenced artists and music of other music genres. 6. Voice. Artists like Mary or Xtina even Bjork shouldnt be on this list. Artists like Sinatra, Streisand, Ella ,Armstrong, Billie Holliday, Sarah Vaughan,Mahalia Jackson should be. Otherwise positions are more or less very objective. Aretha as no 1 for sure. Why? She has colossal status in music, she influenced every female singer, she has longevity, she is greatest singer in her genre and she influenced also rock'n'roll artists and music, she is vocaly one of the best vocalists ever lived and she brought soul gospel to white peop .and she is pioneer of cont. r'n'b.

Never let it be said that I've ever given much thought to what Rolling Stone magazine thinks of any music I like, because it's usually derogatory. However, it did give me a topic idea. Here I'm joined by my good buddy Matt again, and we go through this list, stopping down on albums owned by one or both of us, vinyl whenever possible, CD when not.

Top 50 Rolling Stones Songs

14:32
The Rolling Stones are without a doubt one of the greatest rock n' roll bands of all time. With the classic line-up of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman, Mick Taylor & Ronnie Wood, they are known as the World's Greatest Rock n' Roll Band. The Rolling Stones were at the forefront of the British Invasion of bands that became popular in the United States in 1964 and were identified with the youthful and rebellious counterculture of the 1960s. Rooted in blues and early rock and roll, the band started out playing covers but found more success with their own material. The Rolling Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004. Rolling Stone magazine ranked them fourth on the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time" list and their estimated record sales are above 250 million. They have released 30 studio albums, with some of their best being "Beggars Banquet", "Let It Bleed", "Sticky Fingers", "Exile on Main St.", and "Some Girls". Still Going strong after 50 plus years, the band are not stopping anytime soon, truly a iconic band, and for that, I present to you of not just a top 10 or a top 20, but here are the top 50 songs that the band has made (in my opinion). Thank You all for Watching!! Stay Tune for More Rock n' Roll Lists more frequently, Like, Comment and Subscribe.. Peace Out! Love Ya!

Miss You - The Rolling Stones (1978)

03:31
"Miss You" was a 1978 hit song by The Rolling Stones, from their album "Some Girls". "Miss You" was written by singer Mick Jagger jamming with keyboardist Billy Preston during rehearsals for the March 1977 El Mocambo club gigs which yielded Side Three of the "Love You Live" album. Guitarist Keith Richards is credited for co-writing. Unlike most of "Some Girls", "Miss You" features several studio musicians. In addition to Sugar Blue, who according to Ron Wood was found while busking on the streets of Paris, Ian McLagan played understated Wurlitzer electric piano, and Mel Collins provides the saxophone solo for the instrumental break. "Miss You" became The Rolling Stones' eighth number-one hit in the U.S. on its initial release in 1978. In 2010, Rolling Stone magazine rated "Miss You" number 498 in its list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Considered a highlight of their output and the best of their post-"Exile On Main St." records, "Some Girls" revitalized the band's career upon its release and re-established The Rolling Stones as a vital rock and roll band in an era infused with punk rock and disco. It also became the band's biggest-selling album in the United States, with more than six million copies to date. "Some Girls" is ranked number 269 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. After gaining popularity in Europe, The Rolling Stones became successful in North America during the so-called British Invasion of the mid 1960s. They have released 24 studio albums in the United States, nine concert albums and numerous compilations. Their worldwide sales are estimated at more than 200 million albums. 1971's "Sticky Fingers" began a string of eight consecutive studio albums reaching number one in the United States, including "Some Girls". In 1989 The Rolling Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2004 they ranked #4 in Rolling Stone magazine's 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked The Rolling Stones at number ten on The Billboard Hot 100 Top All-Time Artists, and as the second most successful group in the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Rolling Stone Magazine 500 Greatest Songs of All Time (1-100)

04:18
The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time was the cover story of a special issue of Rolling Stone magazine published in November 2004, The song list was chosen based on votes by 172 musicians, critics, and music industry figures. With 23 songs on the list, The Beatles are the most represented musical act. John Lennon is the only artist to place multiple songs in the top 10 (as a member of the Beatles and as a solo artist). The Beatles are followed by The Rolling Stones (14 entries); Bob Dylan (12); Elvis Presley (11); The Beach Boys and Jimi Hendrix (seven each); and Chuck Berry, U2, James Brown, Prince, Led Zeppelin and Sly & the Family Stone (six each). The list includes just one song not in English ("La Bamba" by Ritchie Valens) and only three songs from the 21st century.the oldest song is "Rollin' Stone" by Muddy Waters The most recent is OutKast's 2003 hit "Hey Ya!" (#180). To make videos of the five parts of this list, I've decided to play only the name of each song - whenever it's possible - (thanks for the idea Mcguffin !), so it's pretty fast, the other videos you've already seen on Youtube (who are not by me) are from the German version of the magazine, but here's the official list. THE ROLLING STONES - WAITING ON A FRIEND - Tattoo You (1981) HiDef :: SOTW #68

Bergo '45 Song of the Week #68 - Dwight's Pick for 10/19/14: http://www.bergo45.com "Waiting On A Friend" by The Rolling Stones from Tattoo You (1981) Rolling Stones Records "You must have something known as Mojo to write a song this fine, and then bury it at the bottom of the album. Track #11...only Mick and Keith..." - Dwight Lewis This is a weekly dive into the musical mind of Bergo '45. Each week, a new song is chosen by a different member of the band. Check out the playlist to see all of the past selections. Grab a towel and give it a listen.... The Rolling Stones are an English rock band formed at Dartford, Kent in 1962. The first stable line-up consisted of band leader Brian Jones (guitar, harmonica), Ian Stewart (piano), Mick Jagger (lead vocals, harmonica), Keith Richards (guitar), Bill Wyman (bass), and Charlie Watts (drums). The Rolling Stones were in the vanguard of the British Invasion of the US in 1964 and 1965. At first noted for their long hair as much as their music, the band are identified with the youthful and rebellious counterculture of the 1960s. They were instrumental in making blues a major part of rock and roll, and for changing the international focus of blues culture to the less sophisticated blues typified by Chess Records artists. These included Muddy Waters, writer of "Rollin' Stone", the song that inspired the band's name. Their first single, "Come On" was released on June 1963 and reached number 21 in the UK hit parade. After seven successful albums, a period of musical experimentation culminated in the poorly received and largely psychedelic album, Their Satanic Majesties Request (1967). But the group returned to their bluesy roots with Beggars' Banquet (1968), Let It Bleed (1969), Sticky Fingers (1971), and Exile on Main St. (1972) which are considered to be the band's best work from their "Golden Age". Musicologist Robert Palmer attributed the "remarkable endurance" of the Rolling Stones to being "rooted in traditional verities, in rhythm-and-blues and soul music" while "more ephemeral pop fashions have come and gone". Jones first led the band, but his drug problem caused his demise and, after teaming as the band's songwriters, Jagger and Richards became de facto leaders. Jones left the band a month before his death in 1969, having already been replaced by Mick Taylor, who left in 1975. Since then Ronnie Wood has played guitar along with Keith Richards. Following Wyman's departure in 1993, Darryl Jones has been the main bassist. Stewart was removed from the official line-up in 1963 but continued as occasional pianist until his death in 1985. Other notable keyboardists for the band have included Nicky Hopkins, active from 1967 to 1982; Billy Preston through the mid 1970s (most prominent on Black and Blue); and Chuck Leavell, active since 1982. The Rolling Stones continued to release hit singles and albums through the 1970s, Some Girls (1978) and Tattoo You (1981) being their two most sold albums worldwide. In the 1980s, a feud between Jagger and Richards about the band's musical direction was patch up and the band made a come back with the hit album, Steel Wheels (1989). In the band's tradition the album was supported by big stadium and arena tours, a tradition continued through the 1990s and 2000s. During this period the band made the four highest-grossing concert tours to date: (Voodoo Lounge Tour (1994–95), Bridges to Babylon Tour (1997–99), Licks Tour (2002–03), A Bigger Bang Tour (2005–07)). The Rolling Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004. Rolling Stone magazine ranked them fourth on the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time" list, and their estimated album sales are above 250 million. They have released twenty-nine studio albums, eighteen live albums and numerous compilations. Let It Bleed (1969) was their first of five consecutive number one studio and Live albums in the UK. Sticky Fingers (1971) was the first of eight consecutive number one studio albums in the US. In 2008 the band ranked 10th on the "Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists" chart. In 2012, the band celebrated their 50th anniversary. All rights belong to their respective owners © Rolling Stones Records

I love all kinds of music. And I go into every album wanting to love it, so that’s my starting point for every review. Keep in mind, though, that music is a very personal thing. An album may hit me personally in a very different way than it hits you. That’s complexly natural and unavoidable, which is why I try to include some personal context in my reviews. It’s so you’ll have a better idea where I’m coming from. In the end, it’s still just my personal opinion, which is inherently biased, and which you may or may not agree with. Hopefully, once in a while, we’ll find common ground. Rolling Stones Gimme Shelter Best Live ever 2018 Remastered by RollingBilbao Cover HD

06:52
"Gimme Shelter" is a song by the Rolling Stones. It first appeared as the opening track on the band's 1969 album Let It Bleed. Although the first word was spelled "Gimmie" on that album, subsequent recordings by the band and other musicians have made "Gimme" the customary spelling. Greil Marcus, writing in Rolling Stone magazine at the time of its release, said of it, "The Stones have never done anything better. The recording features Richards playing in his new open tuning; the guitar riff is widely considered to be among the most distinctive and recognizable in rock history. The recording also features powerful vocals by Merry Clayton, recorded at a last-minute late-night recording session during the mixing phase, arranged by her friend and record producer Jack Nitzsche. "Gimme Shelter" was written by the Rolling Stones' lead vocalist Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards, the band's primary songwriting team. Richards began working on the song's signature opening riff in London whilst Jagger was away filming Performance. As released, the song begins with Richards performing a guitar intro, soon joined by Jagger's harmonica and subsequent lead vocal. Of Let It Bleed's bleak world view, Jagger said in a 1995 interview with Rolling Stone: "Well, it's a very rough, very violent era. The Vietnam War. Violence on the screens, pillage and burning. And Vietnam was not war as we knew it in the conventional sense. The thing about Vietnam was that it wasn't like World War II, and it wasn't like Korea, and it wasn't like the Gulf War. It was a real nasty war, and people didn't like it. People objected, and people didn't want to fight it..." As for the song itself, he concluded, "That's a kind of end-of-the-world song, really. It's apocalypse; the whole record's like that.

The Rolling Stone Magazine 500 Greatest Songs of All Time (201-300)

04:28
The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time was the cover story of a special issue of Rolling Stone magazine published in November 2004, The song list was chosen based on votes by 172 musicians, critics, and music industry figures. With 23 songs on the list, The Beatles are the most represented musical act. John Lennon is the only artist to place multiple songs in the top 10 (as a member of the Beatles and as a solo artist).
