Our winter train ride adventure from Kingston to Quebec City via Montreal with Via Rail. With winter adventures on our mind we boarded a train from Kingston to Quebec City. After transferring trains we began the leg to Quebec City. What would a trip of ours be like without a little goofing off. The truth is we haven't traveled much in recent months and we were beyond excited to be heading somewhere. After transferring trains we began the leg to Quebec City. As many of you may already know, train travel is our preferred method of transportation. All snug and warm we could admire this winter wonderland without feeling the slightest bit cold. The scenery started to shift from farmland to forests and mountains. As the sun started to set we were mere minutes away from Quebec City with thoughts of Winter Carnival on our mind. This is part of our Travel in Canada series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Canadian culture, Canadian arts, Canadian foods, Canadian religion, Canadian cuisine and Canadian people. For licensing and usage, contact: [email protected] I'm not even sure how many locomotives this train had ... Railfanning Post Blizzard of 2015 Storm #3. Canadian National Railway locomotive 2304 (ES44DC) plows through huge snow drifts and gives me a big ass snow shower as it leads the daily CN manifest train 406 West (Moncton, NB to Saint John, NB) at Salisbury, New Brunswick. I'm not sure how the train crew can even see with all that snow on the locomotive's nose! Southern New Brunswick was hit with three major blizzards in less than a week, and there is more snow in the forecast. WINTER TRAIN RIDE from Quebec City to Kingston via Montreal

02:01
Our winter train ride from Quebec City to Kingston via Montreal travel video transcript. Making our return trip home to Kingston we departed from Quebec City. The Via Rail station here is one of the coolest train stations I've ever visited looking more like an elegant palace than anything else. Unlike our previous journey, we left early in the morning this time around sunrise. GEAR WE USE Olympus OM-D E-M5 II: http://amzn.to/1OchS7t Canon G7X: http://amzn.to/1YdjsYX Olympus 14-150mm II Lens: http://amzn.to/1Y79zeM Rode Video Mic GO: http://amzn.to/1WDKtVM Joby Gorilla Pod: http://amzn.to/1PgoY5F SanDisk 16GB Extreme Pro: http://amzn.to/25KEErs SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: http://thatbackpacker.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatbackpac... facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbackpacker twitter: https://twitter.com/ThatBackpacker SAMUEL: blog: http://nomadicsamuel.com/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomadicsamuel twitter: https://twitter.com/NomadicSamuel instragram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadicsamuel/ Cold and overcast, this trip had a much different feel as the winter wonderland views of our previous trip were replaced with blowing snow and limited visibility. I thought it would be cool to show you what a contrast it is traveling going from such conditions even though the temperature remained about the same. On this journey I enjoyed just relaxing and editing videos from our time participating in Quebec City Winter Carnival. It's hard to believe the amount of activities we packed in during such a brief stay. It's rare for us to be back in Canada during winter so we've been trying to embrace it as much as possible. I'm definitely keen on taking more train trips across Canada during the coldest months of the year – blowing snow, frigid temperatures and all. This is part of our Travel in Canada series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Canadian culture, Canadian arts, Canadian foods, Canadian religion, Canadian cuisine and Canadian people. Gornergratbahn │Zermatt - Gornergrat │The Matterhorn Railway │Train Switzerland │ Mount Matterhorn

21:11
Gornergratbahn - The Matterhorn Railway | Matterhorn Ski Paradise An amazing scenic trainride through the snow by train in Switzerland from the car free ski village Zermatt to mount Gornergrat. From the Gornergrat there is an spectaculair view over the swiss alps upon mount Matterhorn and the Monta Rosa Massif and the Gorner Glacier. The Matterhorn is also famous because of the TOBLERONE chocolate candybar with the drawing of the mountain Matterhorn in its logo. The narrow gauge tracks of the Gornergratbahn (The Matterhorn Railway) are aroud 9 kilometres long and from Zermatt you’ll pass the stations Findelbach, Riffelalp, Riffelberg and Rotenboden before it will arrive on Gornergrat at 3089m. The Glacier Express can bring you from Chur, Disentis, Andermatt, Brig and Visp to Zermatt in Canton Valais. Enjoy watching! Viel Spass! Train travelling in the Finnish Taiga in Winter

22:21
Even the residents of the taiga climatic zone sometimes need to travel by public transport as well. This time we test the Finnish Express Train with the Blue Coaches. These are dwindling fast, and this particular train won't be running next Summer [2015] any longer. Jump to 5:21 for some acceleration and a wheelslip. The weather is about the dullest and darkest you can get for a Finnish February, even the autofocus of my camera would not work properly. However, we bravely set to document the trip from Seinäjoki to Tampere on P404 Feb 25th, 2015 with the limited skill we possess. I have included some remarks within the video itself while it runs. Follow Finnish passenger times real-time on-line: https://www.vr.fi/cs/vr/fi/junat_kartalla and the various mobile apps.

Riding the AMTRAK Adirondack from New York to Montreal (winter)

05:17
Riding the Adirondack, during the winter is arguably one of the most beautiful train rides one can experience in North America. The train begins by riding literally next to the Hudson river until it hits Albany. From there it diverges away from the river and goes into the Adirondack mountains: where breathtaking views of lakes, Vermont and mountains dominate the rest of the trip. Finally it enters Canada (by which point it is dark). - The most beautiful train ride in Europe is in Norway have a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqgiA2698Dc

Soo Line cab ride winter crossing Mississippi river at Sabula, Iowa, 1-1995

04:48
An in-cab video (January 19, 1995) of Canadian Pacific (Soo LIne) train 228 East. Recording begins with the freight train northbound (geographically) on a cold, snowy day a few miles south of Sabula, Iowa on the former Milwaukee Road tracks on the west bank (Iowa side) of the Mississippi river. That banging noise heard at times is the engineer's windshield wiper that was a tad out of adjustment and consequently the wiper blade was striking the window frame rubber gasket. Train was powered by two Electro Motive SD-40 diesel-electric locomotives with the CP 751 as the lead unit. Crew members were conductor, Tom Meirhoff and engineer, George Brinson. I, the individual making the recording, was taking a familiarization trip from Chicago (Bensenville, IL) to Davenport, IA and back as I had recently qualified to be a conductor on the Soo. The Soo's swing span railroad bridge crosses the Mississippi river between Sabula, Iowa and Savanna, Illinois.

The Highland Mainline - Edinburgh to Inverness (Pt 2. Bognor Regis to Wick & Thurso in January)

34:43
There is no better way to see the Scottish Highlands in winter. Sit back and gaze out of the train window at the ever changing vista, as we leave Edinburgh’s Waverley station, cross the magnificent Forth Bridge and climb through the snow covered Highlands to Aviemore, where we take a quick look at the Strathspey and Cairngorm railways. Our journey continues in glorious sunshine, the mountains sporting a coat of winter snow look stunning under a perfect blue sky, this is Scotland at its best. Descending down to sea level, we pass over the towering Colloden viaduct to our destination, Inverness.

Shimla Kalka UNESCO Toy Train - Indian Railways in 4K

03:27
Shimla, Toy Train, India: The 4K video captures the major attraction in Shimla - Kalka-Shimla UNESCO Heritage Railway. The route is famous for its scenery and improbable construction. Originally 107 tunnels were built on Kalka Shimla Railway Track and 102 remain in use. The longest tunnel is at Barog. The line has 864 bridges.Steam operation of regular trains ended 1971. The Kalka–Shimla Railway is a 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) narrow gauge railway in North-West India travelling along a mostly mountainous route from Kalka to Shimla. It is known for dramatic views of the hills and surrounding villages. Shimla (then spelt Simla) was settled by the British shortly after the first Anglo-Gurkha war, and is located at 7,116 feet (2,169 m) in the foothills of the Himalayas. By the 1830s, Shimla had already developed as a major base for the British. It became the summer capital of British India in 1864, and was also the headquarters of the British army in India. This route passes through a city named Solan, which is also known as mini Shimla. A festival celebrating the goddess Shoolini Devi, after which the city is named, is held each summer in June. The route winds from the Himalayan Sivalik foothills at Kalka to several important points such as Dharampur, Solan, Kandaghat, Taradevi, Barog, Salogra, Totu (Jutogh), Summerhill and Shimla at an altitude of 2,076 meters (6,811 ft)

YHT (Turkey's High Speed Train) Trip Review - Istanbul→Ankara

18:31
This is YHT(Yüksek Hızlı Tren-High Speed Train). The Ankara-Istanbul line is opened in 2014 but as some tunnels in Doğançay and Vezirhan are not opened, the train uses conventional line from Istanbul to Arifiye. Because of that, the 533km route takes 4,5 hours. Definitely not a competitor to airplanes. This route takes 45 minutes using airplane. I was on the car no.1 (Business Class) on the seat 2C. The video is long enough to enjoy every moment of the journey and short enough to watch continuously. If you're not happy with it, here's the timeline: 00:00 - Important info 00:29 - Embarking 01:20 - Departure 02:35 - Arriving at Gebze 03:59 - Awesome view of Gulf of Izmit 04:17 - Food 05:03 - Hitting 250km/h for the first time 06:09 - Arriving at Arifiye 07:42 - Doğançay conventional line 09:06 - Hitting again 250km/h before Eskişehir 09:35 - Restrooms 12:48 - Arriving at Eskişehir 15:55 - Arriving at Polatlı 16:24 - Suburbs of Ankara 17:53 - Arriving at Ankara Important note: Watch in 50fps! Switzerland Glacier Express Train St. Mortiz to Zermatt Review: Is it Worth the Money?

03:13
My Review of the Glacier Express Train in Switzerland, which goes from St. Moritz to Zermatt. We were on the train in December of 2014. The Glacier Express is a train which connects the two major mountain resorts of St. Moritz and Zermatt in the Swiss Alps. It is not an "express" in the sense of being a high-speed train but rather in the sense that it provides a one-seat ride for a long duration travel. In fact it has the reputation of being the slowest express train in the world. It takes 7,5 hours to journey across 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass on the highest point at 2,033 m (6,670 ft) in altitude. The entire line is metre gauge (narrow gauge railway). The Glacier Express is run jointly by two private Swiss railways, the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB) and the Rhätische Bahn (RhB), who also operate the regular local trains and freight trains over the same route. The panorama cars were introduced in 2006. I decided to take this trip after I have seen a scene of the Glacier Express in the IMAX documentary film "The Alps" The Glacier Express is an express train connecting railway stations of the two major mountain resorts of St. Moritz and Zermatt in the Swiss Alps. The train is operated jointly by the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB) and Rhaetian Railway (RhB). For much of its journey, it also passes along and through the World Heritage Site known as the Rhaetian Railway in the Albula / Bernina Landscapes. The train is not an "express" in the sense of being a high-speed train, but rather, in the sense that it provides a one-seat ride for a long duration travel. In fact it has the reputation of being the slowest express train in the world.[1] As St. Moritz and Zermatt are home to two well-known mountains, the Glacier Express is also said to travel from Piz Bernina to Matterhorn. The Glacier Express first ran in 1930. Initially, it was operated by three railway companies: the Brig–Visp–Zermatt Bahn (BVZ), the Furka Oberalp Bahn, and the RhB. Since 2003, the train has been operated by RhB and a newly established company, the MGB, which arose from a merger between the BVZ and the FO. The trip on the Glacier Express is a 7½ hour railway journey across 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass on the highest point at 2,033 m (6,670 ft) in altitude. The entire line is metre gauge (narrow gauge railway), and large portions of it use a rack-and-pinion system both for ascending steep grades and to control the descent of the train on the back side of those grades. Hey everybody so today I am doing a review of the Swiss Glacier express train that goes from St. Moritz all the way to Zermatt. It's an eight hour journey that crosses 291 bridges as well as 91 tunnels and we paid we were in first class. We paid about 250.00 dollars roughly Canadian a person so it's a little pricey but it's all relative in Switzerland. Ear buds are provide to you throughout the journey and basically there is this narrator that basically tells you all these stories along the whole journey with different interesting facts with how they built the trains as well as the landscape. And you're probably watching this wondering well is it worth the money to go on the train. Well in short answer yes and no. My wife and I are both from Canada so seeing mountains and snow is pretty common. We weren't blown away by anything we saw. And all the footage you see is everything I shot myself. The first thing I am going to say is that the weirdest thing is that it shouldn't nbe called the Glacier Express. That title is super misleading. When in fact on this whole 8 hour journey you only see one glacier and that's at the tale end in the small town Randa. You only see that one glacier for a minute or so and the rest of the train trip you're basically just seeing mountains as well as snow as well as streams as well as small towns and villages The other thing is that the service is not very good on the actual train ride. They do serve different meals that you can buy but they're quite expensive and you'll be waiting for your food for quite a while. You're probably better off bringing your own food and water. The other thing too is that eight hours is such a long journey that we thought we'd see so many different things along the way that after a while things got really repetitive like you're seeing the same mountains over and over again and seeing snow everywhere. It didn't have the same impact as it did maybe in the first hour of the journey when you're in hour 8. So I felt like the train ride could have maybe been condensed to maybe 3 hours and
trektheusa ● Alaska Railroad Aurora Winter train Anchorage to Fairbanks

03:30
Rode the Alaska Railroad Aurora Winter Train on October 10th, 2015 between Anchorage and Fairbanks Alaska. Simply one of the best hidden treasures in America! The Aurora Winter train only operates once a week during the winter months. It travels north from Anchorage to Fairbanks on Saturdays and south from Fairbanks to Anchorage on Sundays. This is also a flag stop for the Hurricane Turn area. The train will periodically stop to pickup or drop off people living off the tracks. There are no roads out here so the Alaska Railroad is their only method of travel and getting supplies. Be sure to bring a camera! The Aurora Winter train is generally a basic consist of 2 locomotives, a dining car, 2 coaches and a baggage car. Adventure Class is the only service on this train. The Goldstar serice with the outdoor platform is not used on this route. http://www.alaskarailroad.com A video by trektheusa Check out my blog which covers a lot of my travel adventures, product reviews and randomness! http://www.trektheusa.org

[HD] Amtrak Ski Train - Winter Park Express on March 14, 2015

00:58
On Mar. 14th and 15th, 2015, Amtrak ran a Ski Train called the "Winter Park Express" between Denver, Colo., and Winter Park, Colo., over Union Pacific's Moffat Tunnel Subdivision. Consist for the train including two Genesis GE P42DC's, including the Veteran's unit (Amtrak 42), four Superliner coaches and three coach-baggage cars. The reason for this excursion was for Winter Park Ski Resort's 75th Anniversary and also a demonstration in to see if there's demand for permanent service next season. There's demand apparently as the tickets for Saturday's trip sold out in ten, while Sunday's sold out in just four. Myself and many other railfans were trackside and I was able to catch the train in two locations for the trip west.
