Check out this Fun Math Video on Multiplication Vocabulary. Kids learn what words are used when learning multiplication. We teach multiplication with a fun character that helps kids see the relationship between factors and products in multiplication.
This is great for 2nd and 3rd Grade students or any child learning multiplication in k12 elementary schools.
We have many videos that teach times tables, distributive property, commutative property and much more so check them out!

Partial products means we multiply numbers part-by-part. For example, 5 x 36 is done as 5 x 30 and 5 x 6, and those two parts are added. You can quite easily do these in your head when one number has two digits and the other has one.
This concept is very important, as it is the basis for the regular multi-digit multiplication algorithm studied in 4th grade.
I also teach it in my book Math Mammoth Multiplication 2 at http://www.mathmammoth.com/multiplication_2.php - available both as an inexpensive download ($5.10) and as a printed copy.

Dot products are a nice geometric tool for understanding projection. But now that we know about linear transformations, we can get a deeper feel for what's going on with the dot product, and the connection between its numerical computation and its geometric interpretation.

This problem went viral after it appeared on a Math Olympiad test for talented students in Singapore. It's not a trick question! Here's the problem, which I have very slightly re-worded for clarity.
Blog post (detailed text explanation): http://mindyourdecisions.com/blog/2015/04/14/when-is-cheryls-birthday-answer-to-viral-math-puzzle/

Official Solution: http://mothership.sg/2015/04/p5-logic-question-is-actually-a-math-olympiad-question-for-sec-3-and-4-students/
Albert and Bernard have just become friends with Cheryl, and they want to know when her birthday is. Cheryl gives them a list of 10 possible dates.
May 15, May 16, May 19
June 17, June 18
July 14, July 16
August 14, August 15, August 17
Cheryl tells Albert the month and Bernard the day.
Albert says, "I don't know when Cheryl's birthday is, but I know that Bernard cannot know either."
Bernard then says, "At first I didn't know when Cheryl's birthday is, but now I do know."
Albert concludes, "Now I know when Cheryl's birthday is."
So when is Cheryl's birthday?

Math is invisible. Unlike physics, chemistry, and biology we can't see it, smell it, or even directly observe it in the universe. And so that has made a lot of really smart people ask, does it actually even EXIST?!?! Similar to the tree falling in the forest, there are people who believe that if no person existed to count, math wouldn't be around . .at ALL!!!! But is this true? Do we live in a mathless universe? Or if math is a real entity that exists, are there formulas and mathematical concepts out there in the universe that are undiscovered? Or is it all fiction? Whew!! So many questions, so many theories... watch the episode and let us know what you think!

Either way - this trick allows you to multiply two numbers quickly and accurately, using a handy visual method - lines.
This method does not use any multiplication tables, making it accessible to all learners.
Part 2 of this video (how to multiply using lines with fives and zeros) is here:

The ancient Egyptians used a division method we call "partial quotients." It's a quick an intuitive way to do division.
Also check out how ancient Egyptians multiplied numbers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHXsKyVSPOU
Then read why this method works: http://mindyourdecisions.com/blog/2015/04/09/an-incredibly-easy-way-to-divide-numbers-ancient-math-secret-you-didnt-learn-in-school/#.VSbUyPnF98E
The problem 30 divided by 2 1/2 is documented in the Rind Mathematical Papyrus, Problem 76. The document is from ~1650 BC, which is more than 3,600 years ago.
Rind Mathematical Papyrus: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhind_Mathematical_Papyrus
I came across this problem in a text about non-western mathematical history, "The Mathematics of Egypt, Mesopotamia, China, India, and Islam: A Sourcebook" : http://amzn.to/1CuroWL
Today this algorithm is taught as the partial quotients method (pdf): http://everydaymath.uchicago.edu/teaching-topics/computation/documents/div-partial-quotients-ex-1.pdf

Since 2007, millions of people have watched videos on "how the Japanese multiply," also known as "Chinese stick multiplication" or "Vedic Math." With millions of people watching these videos, you would expect everything is known about this method. Surprisingly, there were neat tricks to be discovered! Last year I was the first person (to my knowledge) to apply the method for numbers with a digit 0 and for algebraic expressions like (x + 2)(x + 3). Here is a link to that video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SZw8jpfAk0
Now I have discovered another trick - you can rotate the diagram to solve even more multiplication problems! This is the first video to demonstrate a really amazing connection between arithmetic and geometry. I hope you find this worth sharing!
I wrote a book "Multiply Numbers By Drawing Lines" by request to answer many questions. Here is the origin of the book and details of its contents: http://mindyourdecisions.com/blog/2014/09/03/now-available-multiply-numbers-by-drawing-lines-book/
Here's my video "Multiply Numbers By Drawing Lines" that, to my knowledge, was the first to illustrate 0-lines and algebraic expressions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SZw8jpfAk0

This covers the main geometric intuition behind the 2d and 3d cross products.
*Note, in all the computations here, I list the coordinates of the vectors as columns of a matrix, but many textbooks put them in the rows of a matrix instead. It makes no difference for the result, since the determinant is unchanged after a transpose, but given how I've framed most of this series I think it is more intuitive to go with a column-centric approach.

Ask a friend to select a secret number. Tell them to multiply the number by 9. Let them cross out one of the digits (except 0), and then add up the remaining digits. You can guess which number was crossed out every time! Here is why.
This post explains the mathematical reason you can figure out the missing number: https://mindyourdecisions.com/blog/2015/02/11/proof-for-video-why-you-can-guess-the-crossed-out-digit/

Learn how to multiply polynomials. To multiply polynomials, we use the distributive property. The distributive property is essential for multiplying polynomials. The distributive property is the use of each term of one of the polynomials to multiply all the terms of the other polynomial. After multiplying the polynomials, we then simplify the product by combining the like terms and evaluating (add or subtract) them. As we multiply polynomials with more and more terms we often lean on helpful tricks to help us keep the product organized and remember the steps such as FOIL and BOX METHOD.

Here is another cryptarithm for you. Alphametics denotes cryptarithms in which letters form meaningful words, often in meaningful phrases. This particular problem though does not belong to alphametic but still is a popular viral math brain teaser!
Here is the problem. There is a 3 digit number. Let us call it XYZ, where x, y and z are the digits at each of the decimal places. This number has a special property! When you multiply these digits among themselves, their product is one fifth of the original number. In other words, the number XYZ is exactly 5 times the product of x, y and z. As you would have figured out by now, none of the digits can be zero, that is, x, y and z are three distinct positive integers between 1 and 9.
Can you solve this viral math problem?

This video is an exploratory video in which we loosely introduce an interesting variant on repeating decimals: namely 10-adic numbers, or repeating reversimals (this is our own name). These are decimal-like objects whose digits carry on to the left, rather than the right, but still in a periodical fashion. Surprisingly, the arithmetic with these "repeating reversimals" parallels that of repeating decimals, but is generally simpler, due to the way that carrying works in the Hindu-Arabic framework (namely it proceeds to the left).
We look at addition, multiplication, negatives and converting fractions to reversimals and back again. This is not at all a rigorous lecture, but just introduces a playful, yet curiously powerful, alternative to arithmetic with decimal numbers. It is a fun topic to explore if you have an interest in number theory or just patterns with numbers.
