Subscribe to BBC News www.youtube.com/bbcnews One of the most beautiful railways in the world has had one of its most successful summers on record. The 20km train ride from Flam, at the end of the Unesco-protected Aurlandsfjord, through precipices and past huge waterfalls to a height of 866m at Myrdal, in Western Norway, is regarded as an engineering marvel because of the steep gradient. BBC News took a ride in the company of veteran guard Knut Kvamme. ViaRail "Canadian" Train Sleeper Tour

31:49
I have ridden Amtrak's long distance trains several times, and I have previously put together two videos on what to expect when traveling in 'sleeper' class (first class) on the western route "Superliner" trains. Recently I took a similar trip across Canada on ViaRail's famous transcontinental train called the "Canadian", from Toronto to Vancouver. This video shows what to expect in a sleeper car on this trip, as well as presenting the trip and its sights. My trip took place in the four days immediately following Labor Day in May of 2014. The westbound train starts at 10 PM in Toronto, then continues over the next three full days and part of the morning on the fourth day, so the trip includes five consecutive dates, and occupies about 3-1/2 days (going by hours of travel). I forgot to mention in the video that the rooms (except for the berths) all have en-suite toilets. In the roomettes, the toilets are covered by the bed when it is lowered.

Double-Decker Train "Moscow-Sochi" to Olympics-2014. "Real Russia" ep.72

10:15
This is the first time in the History when Russia hosted the Winter Olympic Games and surely we couldn't miss this main sport even in the World which we maybe will never see again in our life in our country. So we did our best and in spite of all the difficulties after relocating to Moscow and getting a new equipment found the funds to go to Sochi and to film all around behind the scenes of The Winter Olympic Games in Russia! We've late to book an airplane ticket but got a ticket for a double-decker train №104 which moves by the route Moscow - Sochi (Adler). Adler is the district of Sochi, Russia where exactly the Olympic Park is located now. And you know, we never got disappointed to get such an experience because this new double-decker train which people called an "Olympic Train" is not disappointed us at all. Because it differ from an old Russian trains this one is new. Have two deckers. Only coupe places. Personal light for every place. Power rosettes. Minimum of stops! And the main thing is Wi-Fi! To say honest, it is worked slow and sometimes not too good on a high speed but it's worked! We have an information that the train getting internet through the satellite, so that's why it works not too good on a high-speed. If usually the way Moscow - Sochi takes 32-34 hours by train, then this one delivered us for only 25 hours. http://youtube.com/user/realrussiablog http://facebook.com/realrussiablog "Real Russia" is the first independent English-speaking Russian channel that makes the deepest insight into the real Russian life with a No Fake and No Bullshit! The first Russian channel that is started to produce the videos in 2.5K format.

Jungfrau Switzerland via Interlaken and Grindelwald

15:56
Please subscribe: http://bit.ly/2pmdyeu Train trip to the Jungfrau Mountain at the Top of Europe, near Interlaken and Grindelwald, Switzerland. Europe's highest railroad line will bring you up to a spectacular world of perpetual winter, dominated by massive, snow-covered peaks reaching over 13,000 feet high and surrounding the continent's longest glacier. Many consider the train ride up one of the finest, most picturesque in the world, where getting to the top is half the fun. The journey from Interlaken to Grindlewald can be easily made on the Bernese Overland railway, and it travels on a scenic route through the valley and along the river and passes several villages. There are magnificent mountain views all along the way. The hundred-year-old rail line from Kleine Scheidegg to the Jungfraujoch is one of Europe's great engineering wonders, the world's highest subway climbing through four miles of tunnels inside the rock. The beginning of this 50-minute journey is not underground, and momentarily offers a great view; so sit on the right side of the train. The train makes two brief stops enroute to let everyone out for a walk through short tunnels to viewing stations, where you look through windows at the nearby mountain peaks and the landscapes far below. Upon arrival at the end of the rail line, you walk through an ice tunnel decorated with ice carvings and then approach a sight too amazing for description or film. You really have to pay your dues and go there in person to experience the exhilaration of standing at the top of the world, surrounded by Alpine giants of snow. The observation deck and snowfield are at 11,350 feet, flanked by the jagged peaks of the Jungfrau (13,642 ft.) and the Mönch (13,449 ft.), which form a valley that cradles the Aletsch Galcier, an endless field of snow that stretches 13 miles to the horizon. Plan on spending an hour or two at the top, playing in the snow and exploring the various levels and exhibits of the visitor center, then catch a convenient train back down the route you came. You return to Kleine Scheidegg, where you can change trains for a different return route that will take you through Wengen and down to Lauterbrunnen. http://tourvideos.com/

Travelling from Almaty to Tashkent by Train

06:03
Experience of travelling by train from Almaty, Kazakhstan, to Tashkent, Uzbekistan (via Shymkent); on the National Railway Company of Kazakhstan (Қазақстан Темiр Жолы / ҚТЖ). On board the Soviet-style train, it was a close to 13 hour ride from Almaty to Shymkent. On the sleeper cabin (shared by four people), a mattress and pillow (with fresh sheets) were provided. It is advisable to bring adequate food and water on the journey. This is a cost-effective albeit less comfortable way of getting to Tashkent from Almaty: by taking a domestic train service to Shymkent, then taking taxi to the Kazakh-Uzbek border, crossing the border into Uzbekistan before taking another taxi to the capital, Tashkent. Note: private vehicles can double as a taxi, negotiate first with the driver on the price. A little spoken Russian will go a long way here. Thank you for watching. Deepti Bhatnagar travels to Interlaken which is the base for the Jungfrau region. The place is visited by the Asian tourists in summers and European tourists in winters. From here she goes to Grindelwald and then to Kleine Scheidegg. In Kleine Scheidegg she enjoys skiing and snow cycling. She also visits Wengen which is a car free city and explores the oldest cheese shop of Wengen. Canada: The Train Journey through the Rockies

06:05
Over a century ago the trans-continental railway was built across 3,000 miles of rugged terrain opening up Canada to settlement and tourism. Today it is considered one of the greatest train journeys in the world and the stretch of track most vividly remembered is the section through the Rocky Mountains. We explore Jasper National Park in Alberta before boarding the Rocky Mountaineer and travelling to Vancouver in British Columbia stopping overnight at Kamloops. En route we experience the spectacular mountain scenery, gorges, wild rivers and spot bald eagles and osprey nests. Our train ride from Toronto to Montreal with Via Rail Canada

02:01
Our train ride from Toronto to Montreal with Via Rail Canada. Sometimes it takes being away from a place for an extended period of time for you to truly appreciate it. Coming back home to Canada with Audrey, after nearly three consecutive years of traveling overseas, has rekindled our passion to explore more our own backyard. When we had the opportunity in our schedule to visit Montreal we jumped at the chance. Train travel is our preferred method of transportation, so we decided to go with Via rail. What I immediately noticed was just how much more comfortable it was to be traveling via rail as opposed to flying or taking the bus. Extra leg room. Check. Wifi. Check. Plugins for my computer. Check. The ability to easily get up and stretch or order food on demand. Check. Now that I'm in my thirties those little things make a big difference. The journey itself was phenomenal. The train tracks allowed us to explore scenic parts of Ontario and Quebec that we would have never witnessed had we been on the road. We passed by cities like Kingston and Cornwall along the way and my desire to explore some of the smaller cities in this region is now greater than ever. Overall, if you're thinking of doing the Toronto to Montreal route - or vice versa - I can't think of a better way than to do it by train. This is part of our Travel in Canada series. Train Ride from New York City to Chicago with Amtrak

01:53
Our one week in New York City felt like it was merely a couple of days. A whirlwind tour of the Big Apple left us wanting to linger; however, the lure of the Chicago had us hopping on an Amtrak train again for our longest train journey of our three week trip. With comfortable seats and plenty of legroom, we devoted many of the long hours we had to kill to reading books and catching up on work on our computers. The highlight of the journey for us both was the fancy dining cart. Although our meal wasn't cheap, it was quite the experience sitting in a nice dining cart and being served a three course meal. We don't splurge often but when we do we thoroughly enjoy it. GEAR WE USE Olympus OM-D E-M5 II: http://amzn.to/1OchS7t Canon G7X: http://amzn.to/1YdjsYX Olympus 14-150mm II Lens: http://amzn.to/1Y79zeM Rode Video Mic GO: http://amzn.to/1WDKtVM Joby Gorilla Pod: http://amzn.to/1PgoY5F SanDisk 16GB Extreme Pro: http://amzn.to/25KEErs SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: http://thatbackpacker.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatbackpacker/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbackpacker twitter: https://twitter.com/ThatBackpacker SAMUEL: blog: http://nomadicsamuel.com/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomadicsamuel twitter: https://twitter.com/NomadicSamuel instragram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadicsamuel/ The nice weather of New York faded by the time we got closer to Chicago. It started to rain quite heavily; however, the scenery was still fascinating and we ended up napping the rest of the way. These two trips with Amtrak certainly helped improve our opinion of overland travel in the United States. If we do another American road trip we'll definitely take the train again. The PA system says: "the train will stop at the Tappi-Kaitei station, but the doors will not open". The station was sadly closed recently, in order to make room for the Hokkaido shinkansen.

Train Ride from Montreal to New York City with Amtrak

02:22
Train Ride from Montreal to New York City with Amtrak. After an incredible week of exploring Montreal it was time for us to pack our bags and board an Amtrak train bound for New York City. Given that I've spent nearly the past decade traveling in some way, shape or form it is almost shocking that I've never spent any time in New York City. As I leaned back in my seat I felt adrenaline rushing through my veins as the excitement of finally visiting the Big Apple was suddenly becoming a reality. In fact, I've never been able to stretch out my legs on a train without touching the next seat. The only thing that was mildly inconvenient was that the wifi was sporadic throughout the journey. I suppose having the time to video edit and read my kindle, as opposed to mindlessly surfing online, was a more productive use of my time when I wasn't marveling at the scenery outside. What impressed me about this trip was just how scenic Upstate New York really is. I didn't have many preconceived expectations; however, I must admit that I didn't expect to spend most of our journey passing through lakes, forests and quaint little towns. As we approached New York city we started spotting mansions that looked as though they were castles! Being treated to a sunset was the ultimate way for us to end what was a very comfortable journey.
