Little montage from the Avetts return to Charlotte, North Carolina, 9 April 2011, at the Bojangles Coliseum. My camera deleted the vids from one of my favorite parts of the night (Spanish Pipedream, Pretend Love, Murder In The City) but got most of the others. I hope the people on the ground will understand. Wild show! Scott, Seth, Bob, Joe and Jacob

Decided to add a pick-up to my cheap-ass starter banjo. Used a lapel mic from Radio Shack, and it picks up pretty good. Not exactly a wildly impressive technical feat, but anything looks more impressive when you put it in a montage, right. Can't really play it either but there's a demo of how it sounds at the end. Amp was a Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue, music from the legendary Ramblin' Jack and Derroll Adams.

Some photos and audio of Wilco doing Hummingbird, from A Ghost Is Born, at the Pageant in St. Louis, 5/17/08. Tweedy stuck the microphone right in our face and you can hear us singing along on one of the choruses. Photos are from the whole show, not just that song.

Byrne's Pub, Columbus, Oh, 7/20/05 Avett Brothers "Traditional" tune, often cited to Art Gillham, the Whispering Pianist, who did a version in 1925 for Columbia, though the Victor Military Band did an instrumental version at the Victor Talking Machine Company in 1916. Everyone and their brother (including Seth) have done it since and maybe/probably even before. Dollar A Song
