RVing Maine with Kara and Nate

02:14
YouTubers Kara and Nate have been traveling around the world for the last two years, visiting 77 countries. They recently teamed up with Matador and Go RVing for a week in Maine, where they searched for the best lobster rolls, explored the dramatic coastline, and sailed a 1920s wooden schooner. For Kara and Nate, having the RV was a new kind of setup—a mobile office perfect for editing video and working as they traveled. They both had the same reaction: “We can’t wait to do this again.” * This video is proudly produced in partnership with Go RVing: https://away.gorving.com/ DOWNLOAD OUR APP APPLE: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/travelstoke/id983733875?mt=8 ANDROID: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.matadornetwork.travelstoke&hl=en MORE FROM MATADOR NETWORK WEB: http://matadornetwork.com/ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/matadornetwork/ YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/user/MATADORnetwork FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/matadornetwork ABOUT MATADOR NETWORK MatadorNetwork.com and its social channels are the #1 digital destination for affluent millennial travelers and adventurers. Kauai From the Air

02:32
As a photographer and a drone pilot, this shoot was insanely exciting because we were the first to get to do it: Never before have permits been issued for drone operations in several of the locations that we filmed on the island. So we were the first people to ever get to Kauai like this. We spent a mere ten days in Kauai and we spent the majority of our time filming people in action. Kauai hosts a crazy amount of outdoor activities, from surfing to kayaking ziplining to hiking to biking. Put that against a background of mountains, waterfalls, jungles, and beaches, and you get a pretty incredible view. It was an amazing experience, and an honor to be one of the first drone pilots granted permission to film the spectacular island of Kauai. And now (for the first time in some of these spots!), we present Kauai, from the air. Find more great content at http://www.matadornetwork.com

36 Hours in Oaxaca, Mexico

02:26
The state of Oaxaca is one of the most diverse and beautiful in Mexico. It would take a lifetime to fully absorb such a place...so naturally, we decided to try and cram all of it into 36 hours. The capital city sits in the Sierra Madre mountains, at the foot of Cerro del Fortín, and features some of the country's most beautiful colonial architecture and richest indigenous culture. We managed to stroll along the Zócalo, the city's central plaza, take in the markets and art, throw back a few shots of mezcal, and still make it out of the city for the gorgeous Hierve el Agua rock formations and to visit Santa María del Tule, a small town that's home to one of the oldest trees in the world. Was it enough? Well, no, not even close. But it wasn't too shabby an effort for 36 hours. Find more great content at http://www.matadornetwork.com

8 things that will surprise you about Arroyo Grande

01:37
Although often overlooked, Arroyo Grande is home to many unique attractions. For example, did you know that it's home to California's only swinging bridge? It dates back to 1875 when it didn't have any handrails. Or that traffic in the village center will often stop...for free-ranging roosters? That's only a start. Ghost stories abound in Arroyo Grande—one is said to haunt the pizza parlor in a downtown heritage building, and there are more ghosts at the Pitkin Estate on Valley Road. The area also lays claim to some celebrities, was home to America's first woman to receive a pilot's license, and has an amazing vineyard with a historic adobe on its property. A real sign of community, the owner of Doc Burnstein's Ice Cream Parlor—besides letting customers create their own flavors and sometimes adding them to the menu—hosts a day where the proceeds from his sales go toward helping kids working for him attend a local college. These are only a few of the things that make Arroyo Grande so special. * This video is proudly produced in partnership with SLO CAL and Visit Arroyo Grande. 36 Hours in Mexico City & Teotihuacan

02:42
Mexico City is a pretty solid candidate for the city of the 21st century. It's the perfect mix of the old and the new: the crazy mix of beautiful colonial, modern, and Mayan architecture, a ridiculous music scene, some of the best food on the planet, and countless quirky and weird subcultures all combine into a truly modern world city. We went to Mexico City to catch what it's all about on film, and what we found was one of the most vibrant, alive cities we've ever been to. Give it a watch. Or, better yet: go see it for yourself. Making Home with Alex Honnold

03:13
The Alex Honnold you're probably familiar with—the rock climber who sets speed records free soloing some of the gnarliest walls in the world—is only one snapshot in the home movie that makes up the person. For one thing, he spends just 5% of his climbing time on those high-difficulty, high-publicity exploits. The rest is rope climbing, bouldering, gym climbing. But there's also what happens off the rock. No one, not even Alex Honnold, lives on the pitch. We live at home, the place we return to at the end of the day to relax, reflect, and recharge. In Alex's case, it's a home entirely of his own making: his camper van. Read more about behind-the-scenes life with Alex at http://matadornetwork.com/tv/rei-alex-honnold/

The local’s experience in Greenville, SC

03:18
Caz and Blaze are visitors, but they’re interested in the true local flavor of Greenville, South Carolina. To get a taste, they hit up the local farmers market, held every Saturday from March through October, where there’s live music and locally sourced food and artisan goods. They take in Yappy Hour, a monthly dog-friendly happy hour from April to October, where dogs are free to roam and you can enjoy the sweet sounds of local musicians. They also meet up with a couple of locals and discover their favorite hangouts, which include art galleries and the awesome restaurant Jamaica Mi Irie. For some physical activity, they rent some bikes and head out on the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail, a 19.9-mile traverse that follows an old train route. * This video is proudly produced in partnership with VisitGreenvilleSC: https://www.visitgreenvillesc.com/ DOWNLOAD OUR APP APPLE: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/travelstoke/id983733875?mt=8 ANDROID: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.matadornetwork.travelstoke&hl=en MORE FROM MATADOR NETWORK WEB: http://matadornetwork.com/ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/matadornetwork/ YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/user/MATADORnetwork FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/matadornetwork ABOUT MATADOR NETWORK MatadorNetwork.com and its social channels are the #1 digital destination for affluent millennial travelers and adventurers. The unexpected Las Vegas: Touring the Downtown Arts District

04:16
The Downtown Arts District in Las Vegas will surprise you with how many impressive local spots there are. On this quick bicycle tour around town we hit up a bunch of them, starting with Vesta Coffee for one of the best cups of coffee in town. From there we peruse the Arts Factory, which has over 26 galleries and studios. For lunch it's Esther’s Kitchen, where Chef James Tree is pushing boundaries on locally based fare and making sure every piece of silverware, art, and dishware in the restaurant is also made or sourced in Vegas. Next, we grab drinks at Jammyland, enjoying its comfy outdoor patio, followed by a full-on night out at ReBAR, where you can drink and browse antiques simultaneously, and take in awesome local bands at the onsite Funkyard. However you decide to do it, the Downtown Arts District makes for a great day in Vegas. * This video is proudly produced in partnership with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority: https://www.visitlasvegas.com/ DOWNLOAD OUR APP APPLE: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/travelstoke/id983733875?mt=8 ANDROID: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.matadornetwork.travelstoke&hl=en MORE FROM MATADOR NETWORK WEB: http://matadornetwork.com/ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/matadornetwork/ YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/user/MATADORnetwork FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/matadornetwork ABOUT MATADOR NETWORK MatadorNetwork.com and its social channels are the #1 digital destination for affluent millennial travelers and adventurers. Camping with Loki the Wolfdog

03:31
What makes a campsite feel like home? Part of it's the preparation you put in before your trip—choosing the gear and goods you know will make your camp most comfortable, packing up, planning your route and destination. Part of it's bringing to bear your experience and knowledge in setting up a solid camp spot. But perhaps more than any of that, what truly turns a campsite into home is the company you bring. For photographer Kelly Lund, that company is always his wolfdog Loki. Read more about their camp story: http://matadornetwork.com/tv/rei-kelly-loki/

Chiapas Diaries: Exploring the South of Mexico

The southern state is known for its vibrant indigenous culture, its Mayan ruins, and its natural beauty. We traveled to Chiapas and came back with this video diary. Rainforest Guardians: Spirit Bears and the Gitga'at Nation

"The raven left every tenth bear white, just to remind us of when the earth was covered in glacier," says Marven Robinson of the Gitga'at First Nation in British Columbia, Canada. The white bears are known as Moksgm'ol to the people of the First Nations, and as Kermode bears to scientists. They aren't polar bears or albino bears—rather, they're black bears born with a double recessive gene that turns their fur white. Kayak Camping with Kalen Thorien

How important is it to find the perfect campsite when you're camping? For kayaker Kalen Thorien, there's no more crucial task when she's on a paddling mission. "I have this bad habit of wandering around for a while" looking for just the right spot, she says, "to the point where I've added on three or four extra miles, two hours' unnecessary walking to find a camp spot, because I'm really picky about my places. I'll sleep anywhere if I have to, but if I have the time and the resources to really find that zone, I do. Beyond Perceptions: A Jordan Journey

02:19
Jordan is one of those places that most Americans know nothing about. We remember that it was in the Bible, and we *think* that the one scene from "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" was shot there, but that's about all we have. We also have a vague notion that Jordan, and the Middle East as a whole, really isn't a great place for women travelers. Kara Mercer wouldn't agree. She took a trip along the Jordan Trail, and what she discovered was not hostility, but a staggering hospitality. The video she captured is downright breathtaking. Her trip took her out into the desert, where she was hosted by a Bedouin family. She rode camels over the dunes to the famous Wadi Rum wilderness and the Petra UNESCO World Heritage Site. She mingled with artists and fashionistas in the country's cosmopolitan capital, Amman. The trip looks incredible, and not just because Jordan's a beautiful place -- but because it's full of beautiful people, too. Kenya From the Air

04:42
SOMETIMES YOU STUMBLE ACROSS a place that seems like it got far more than its fair share of natural beauty. Places with spectacular wildlife, gorgeous scenery, and an almost absurdly beautiful culture. Kenya is one of those places. "I haven't scratched the surface yet," says Jamie Gaymer, a game warden at the Ol Jogi Wildlife Conservancy, "and there is so much out there in these remote places that has not been explored. And I have the opportunity to spend the rest of my life doing that." You've undoubtedly seen Kenya on wildlife and nature programs on TV. But we decided to go to Kenya and shoot it in a different way. We took to the skies. From drones and from planes, we traveled to the remote and beautiful parts of one of the most stunning places in the world and captured its wildlife, its landscapes, and all of its natural beauty from above. The result is one of the most beautiful videos we've ever done. Check it out. Special thanks to our friends at Ol Jogi http://oljogihome.com Find more great content at http://www.matadornetwork.com

Exploring Baja California, Mexico

"Baja California was somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit," filmmaker Joshua Cowan says. The sliver of land that stretches 775 miles along the western coast of Mexico is chock full of secluded spots that would be country-wide highlights anyplace else. Cowan hung out in hot springs, surfed on deserted, world-class beaches, went fishing in the bright blue waters off the coast, and trekked the peninsula's jungles. The jagged coastlines, the staggering landscapes, and the breathtaking sunsets are a sight to behold. Fortunately enough, Cowan brought along his camera. If you're into the quirky side of things, Bubblegum Alley is a must-see, and if beer is your thing you'll definitely want to tour the SLO Brew and taste their many craft beers. When it's time to escape the city head to Reservoir Canyon, a protected park perfect for unwinding only minutes away from downtown. The Cerro San Luis trail—part of the Mission Trail—is a great place to get some hiking, running, or mountain biking in. Further afield, for those more adventurous, is ziplining in Santa Margarita. And if you're looking for a truly unique overnight experience, check into the iconic Madonna Inn. It has 110 rooms with unique themes and names like: Love Nest, Caveman Room, and Irish Hills. In SLO CAL, slow will set you free! * This video is proudly produced in partnership with SLO CAL and the City of San Luis Obispo. Explore Fjord Norway: Viking Village

03:02
Fjord Norway is the actual source of most of the images you likely associate with "Norway" in general. The region runs along the country's southwestern coast, comprising a dramatic landscape of fjords, mountains, cliffs, and islands, as well as some truly special cultural and culinary centers. For this exciting partnership, Matador dispatched a small crew of our most talented Ambassadors to traverse the region and do what they do best, be that kayaking world-class whitewater, trekking the regions epic trails, or simply photographing scenery that seemed be pushing to new levels just around that next curve in the road. Scroll down to see the stories and media they came back with. To see more articles, photos and videos from this epic destination go to http//:matadornetwork.com

Scotland: Borders, Midlothian and Edinburgh

02:41
With a history that predates the written record, covered in ruins from another time, and decorated with more "modern" castles and estates, Scotland is a land fit for fairytales. It's beautiful and enchanting. This is particularly true of the country's South East, the regions of Midlothian and the Scottish Borders that sit between Edinburgh and the border with England. This film lovingly captures the allure South East Scotland has on the imagination -- emerald hills flanking stone fortresses, mist-filled forests crisscrossed with ancient trails ready for exploring. It doesn't seem real, but here's the thing: Scotland and its mountains, castles, and villages are very much real and easy to visit. Check out the video above and start planning your dream trip to Scotland. Turkey's Turquoise Coast in 4k Hyperlapse

03:22
If you've had the pleasure of visiting Turkey in summer, then you're likely aware of the awesomeness of the Turquoise Coast: the stunning beach and lagoon at Ölüdeniz, the small-town time capsule that is Kaş, Kaputaş Beach and its perfect little slice of sand. But we guarantee you've never seen the Turquoise Coast like this. Matador filmmaker Piotr Wancerz made a whirlwind visit to the country and, after a quick stop in Istanbul, jetted over to the Turquoise Coast to capture some hyperlapse footage of this incredible region. Follow along as he travels from the international metropolis of Turkey's largest city, down to the Mediterranean at Ölüdeniz and its eminently paraglidable mountains, over to Antalya and its historic Aspendos theatre, and so many incredible spots in between. Camping in the Redwoods with Meg Haywood Sullivan and Charles Post

04:05
If you've walked in the redwood forests of Northern California, you know there's nowhere like this on Earth. In the old-growth groves, trunks as wide as 25 feet rise like pillars out of the ground; sometimes a tree is so tall it's difficult to make out where its first branches break out from the trunk high above your head. To camp here -- to make your home amongst the redwoods -- is practically a spiritual experience. Naturalists Meg Haywood Sullivan and Charles Post know this, which is why California's coastal redwood forests are their favorite place to pitch a tent. Winter adventure inspiration: Jasper, Alberta

First up, a geography lesson. At the confluence of the Athabasca and Miette Rivers, Jasper sits in one of the most beautiful valleys in the world. This is the epicenter of the Canadian Rockies, a hub for some of the raddest winter adventures you can possibly imagine in and around Jasper National Park and the surrounding ranges. This video gives you just a taste of winter options: trekking in Maligne Canyon, driving the Icefields Parkway, exploring Mount Fryatt and the Columbia Icefield, stargazing in Jasper's Dark Sky Preserve, and carving lines at Marmot Basin ski resort. Costa Rica: Enter Adventure

02:33
If you're watching this video in your cubicle at work, throwing frantic glances over your shoulder to make sure no one finds out how you REALLY spend your workday, take note: Costa Rica is waiting for you. Put in a vacation request, book a flight, and get down here. That's what Matador Ambassadors Ben Weiland and Mark McInnis did earlier this year. And you can see they're absolutely stoked on what they found. Costa Rica is set up for all kinds of adventure -- cruise down to the southern reaches of the Pacific coast and surf Pavones, load up the truck and find secluded waterfalls in the rainforest, explore the epic caves of Barra Honda National Park, choose your own perfect and completely secluded beach (there are more here than you could ever enjoy in a lifetime). Yosemite in Winter

02:46
You haven't had the full "Yosemite Experience" until you've seen it in winter. While Yosemite's summer season drives its popularity, the park transforms into a winter wonderland after the leaves fall and the great bulk of the tourists leave. With few crowds among winter's perpetual stillness, the off-season presents an opportunity to see the park in a way summertime visitors never will. If you're willing to bundle up and brave the chill, you'll discover something truly special. Blanketed in fresh snow, Yosemite in winter is the perfect place to snowshoe or ski wild, nearly deserted trails. You may even find yourself completely alone while standing under famous Yosemite Falls. Check out the video above as ecologist Charles Post and photographer Meg Haywood Sullivan take us around the park and show us the true, 100% Yosemite Experience. Sayulita Diaries: Fun on Mexico's Pacific Coast

02:46
Compared to Puerto Vallarta, its neighbor to the south, Sayulita is a small, unassuming town. But since the 1960s, it's transformed into a worldwide surf destination, thanks to its pristine beaches and chill community. One of our film teams took a trip down to Sayulita (which is now hailed as one of the crown jewels of Mexico's ascendant Riviera Nayarit), and what they found was amazing: beautiful, colorful buildings; good beer; delicious food; awesome local crafts; gorgeous hidden swimming spots; and, of course, world-class surfing. 7 Days in Slovenia

08:12
Welcome to Slovenia. This small country (the size of New Jersey) sits between Italy, Austria, and Croatia, and as you’ll see, is one of Europe’s raddest places to travel. We gave ourselves a week. Starting off in Lake Bled, we swam in one of the most postcard looking lakes you’ve ever seen before heading off to sail in the Adriatic. From here we explored the Soča Valley — a region with turquoise blue rivers and limitless adventure options. Farm to table food and family-run wineries are a way of life in Slovenia, and we were stoked to spend time with world famous chef Ana RoŠ from HiŠa Franko restaurant as well as Aleš Kristančič, the storied winemaker of Movia vineyards. Don’t overlook this country when thinking of your next travels to Europe. Elevated Perspective: Jordan From the Air II

03:21
The modern nation of Jordan straddles the African Rift Valley Fault, forming the geological boundary between the African plate and Arabian plate. The tectonic forces of those plates moving against one another through endless eons have conspired to create an otherworldly landscape of sand and stone. The ethereal empty beauty of Wadi Rum, the mind bending rock formations of the Dana Nature Reserve, the slot canyons of Wadi Gweir, and the tranquil desolation of the Dead Sea all stand as tribute to the earth-shaping forces at work. Jordan's rugged landscape has been a haven for humankind since time immemorial, and over the centuries those who have called this land home have left their mark. From the ancient Greeks and Romans who built temples, coliseums, and roads that still stand today in places like Jerash and Pella, to the Nabataeans and the wonder that is Petra, and through to the bustling modern city of Amman, Jordan's landscape today is a rich tapestry of its past and present. Here's how to tour it all. * This video is proudly produced in partnership with the Jordan Tourism Board North America. http://www.myjordanjourney.com/ JTBNA FB: @myjordanjourney Twitter: @jordannortham Instagram: @myjordanjourney #MyJordanJourney USAID BEST FB: @siyahajordan Twitter: @siyahajordan Instagram: @siyahajo #siyahajordan and #USAID_BEST DOWNLOAD OUR APP APPLE: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/travelstoke/id983733875?mt=8 ANDROID: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.matadornetwork.travelstoke&hl=en MORE FROM MATADOR NETWORK WEB: http://matadornetwork.com/ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/matadornetwork/ YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/user/MATADORnetwork FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/matadornetwork ABOUT MATADOR NETWORK MatadorNetwork.com and its social channels are the #1 digital destination for affluent millennial travelers and adventurers. Destination Art: Explore Edmonton with Kyle Huber

01:52
Kyle Huber, a photographer and visual designer, and his friend Tommy Lundberg team up with local Annaliza Toledo, a graffiti artist and muralist, to explore the Edmonton art scene and the Silver Skate Festival. For 28 years, this event has combined sports, heritage, and art into a 10-day extravaganza. Most memorable for Huber is the time spent wandering around the massive ice castles—art pieces unto themselves—and the nightly burning of a sculpture. But a close second is Baijiu, Annaliza’s favorite downtown restaurant and cocktail bar, where the flavors, presentation, and atmosphere are all on point. Edmonton, Alberta, has a cutting-edge art scene that embraces arts of all disciplines. From graffiti, murals, and festivals to avant-garde dining, the creativity knows no bounds. Our advice is to expect the unexpected, and definitely arrive hungry and ready for adventure. How pro photographer Travis Burke expresses his creative voice

Outdoor adventure photographer Travis Burke loves to hit the trails at one of his favorite places: Moab, Utah. According to him, there's no other place like it; every image from the area is instantaneously recognizable. What started out as a normal day to capture the sunset quickly led to him spending the entire night. It's in these moments that he finds his iconic creative style of Dark Sky photography, inspiring him to continue to capture moments most don't. Turkey's Black Sea Mountains from the Air

02:43
THE BLACK SEA REGION of northern Turkey encompasses a mixture of miniature biomes that gives unique separation to both the culture and geography of this part of the country. Access inland from the coast is limited to a few deep and narrow valleys because of massive mountain ranges that form an almost unbroken wall separating the coast from the interior. The coastal side of the mountains are speckled with dense forests and an abundance of flora and fauna. The famous Tea Gardens of Rize and the Hagia Sophia Museum in the historical city of Trabzon are great places to spend the day. Rivers cascade through the rocky gorges of the north-facing mountains, where rafting and hiking to remote waterfalls are popular activities. The high mountain lakes and villages of the Haldizen Valley and Soganli Summit near the town of Uzungöl are quick escapes from the coast and perfect for a mountain bike ride. The peaks force the clouds to disgorge, leaving central Anatolia, on the interior side of the coastal ranges, in a permanent rain shadow desert. Here, the remote villages of Sırakonak and Yedigöller require a tolerance to winding one-way roads but provide access to cerulean desert lakes, waterfall oases, and some amazing Ottoman architecture (including the ancient Haho Monastery and Tortum Lake and Waterfall, featured in the video). In the eastern side of the Black Sea region, the Kaçkar Mountains tower to an impressive 4,000 meters. The glaciated granite range has contrasting southern slopes patched with green summer cow pastures, fruit orchards, and honey farms near the beautiful towns of Şavşat and Ayder. The high mountain lake of Karagöl and impressive valley views in Şavşat can make you feel like you're in the Alps, as fat dairy cows munch grass and produce the country's best milk and butter. The geothermal town of Ayder, which sits below the Kavrun Plateau, is the jumping-off point for trekking into the Kaçkars. The Black Sea region is a real anomaly, guaranteed to break any stereotypes you may hold about Turkey. With the short summer season ensuring the area sees few package tourists, most foreign visitors are the adventurous type who come here to get off the beaten track. Here's a taste of what you'll find. Montreal: Festival of Lights

01:49
There's something inherently cozy about outdoor winter festivals: hot drinks, warm fires, dark wintry nights, and everyone stuffed into thick puffy coats with wool hats pulled below their ears. And perhaps no winter festival is cozier, livelier, or more atmospheric than Montréal en Lumière. Montreal's festival of lights brings warmth, glow, and outdoor fun to 2+ weeks of the city's winter. It transforms the Quartier des Spectacles and its Place des Festivals into a hive of happy people enjoying delicious local food, free outdoor family activities, and art, art, art. From music and theatre to dance and light installations, the festival celebrates a rich collection of local and international artists. In short, there's a lot to do throughout the festival's schedule of events. As chef, lifelong Montreal resident, and host Jean-Michel LeBlond implies, it's difficult to describe the event in words. Luckily, this video captures everything there is to see and do at Montréal en Lumière.
