Hey guys welcome to City Soles TV. I'm your host, Scott Starbuck. We're here talking about a brand overview of a line called "Mezlan." Mezlan shoes are all handmade out of Spain. These are gorgeous, gorgeous men's shoes. I mean you're really stepping it up a few levels here. We carry another line of theirs called, Bacco Bucci. You may have heard of them. We've carried them for years. We also carry some Mezlan shoes here and there. This is the Mezlan custom line. They're all handmade. The leathers are gorgeous. I mean they're beautiful showstopper men's shoes. If you want to impress and be dressed to the tee, these are badass shoes. This purple hue with the black speckles on it is just amazing. It's shiny. It's really a seriously slick shoe. There's a treaded inlay on some of them. It's got soft nappa suede, which is really sophisticated and rich. These are awesome. I'd wear these with a pair of jeans in the summertime while barefoot. I'd wear them with a suit. They're amazing, very cool shoes. Like I said, they're showstoppers. These are shoes that strangers are going to for and go "Excuse me. Where'd you get those? Those are amazing." Mezlan: custom line here at City Soles. They are all handmade out of Spain. They're all leather with leather soles. They're stitched. They're just really gorgeous, gorgeous shoes. They're going to be your favorite cool shoes in your cool shoes closet. This is a Fashion Style Guidance Video on Wearing Leg Warmers. Hey guys, welcome to City Soles TV. I'm your host, Scott Starbuck, and we're talking about fall accessories and one of my favorite accessories is leg warmers, arm warmers, things like that. How to wear leg warmers, a lof of people just can't figure out how to put it together. This is one of our local companies called Limber and they're all handmade here in Chicago. What's great about them is they're reversible. This is a lot of great material. Black on one side and then this gorgeous crushed, stone on the other side. What you'll notice about these is that they're big at the top and small at the bottom, so most people would wear the big part on the top and the small part on the bottom so either you tuck this inside your boot or you scrunch and wrinkle it up. We're going to show you a couple of different ways to wear them and give you a lot of versatility. So let's bring out Rachel here and check out her in the exact leg warmers we were talking about. Let's check out her here in the exact leg warmers we're talking about. Switch around the black velvet on the outside and we put the small part on the top, which is really great, and then you can pull it down over the boot. I even love it way down low, like on the low part of the heel. Very cool looking, different way to wear a leg warmer and take your ankle boots and give them a different way to give them a taller, more lengthy look, more feminine and sexy long look. Just really make your ankle boots into something completely different. I love that look, it's very fun. Pull them over your boots and it looks cool with high heeled boots, pulling them over a high heeled boot as well and of course, you can wear them the other way with the skinny part on the bottom and we'll show you that next. Let's look at the other way to do the same leg warmers. We flipped them around and put the larger side up and the smaller side down. Now she's wearing them inside some nice, classic riding boots and you can wear them like this. You can either pull them up to here like this. It actually prevents the boot from rubbing on your leg and keeps this warm, you know the winds blowing down there. You may just have on leggings or wool tights or something so not as substantial as leggings or heavier jeans. That'll help a lot, fashion wise it's very cool. You can cuff it like this or wear them straight up. Lots of cool things you can do. Another accessory, same genre, is the arm warmers. Love these especially because of the little thumb hooks, keep them in place which is cool, gives you a half a glove feel. They come in a hundred different, crocheted, it has another material on the inside like a jersey cotton. This little multicolored thing can be a leg warmer or an arm warmer. I think these are a must-have in your wardrobe. You can jazz up any kind of outfit. Fun, bohemian, casual jeans and t-shirt to dressier fun stuff you can wear out on the weekend. Leg warmers, arm warmers, a must in your closet. There's some ideas on how to wear them. Another look that I love this season: everyday, cool, comfy, old school hiking boots. I love hiking boots. They're what I wore as a kid with bell bottoms on and a concert t-shirt, an army jacket and some hiking boots. I did not wear leg warmers. I left that for the 80's girls to wear. Cool, little scrunchy leg warmers here. Even wear them tucked in or pulled over the boot. I'm a big fan of pulled over the boot. I think it looks great. This also looks good and you can do it either way. Love the multi pattern, kind of jazzes up your solid tones that you're wearing and really takes it home in a fun way. That's our cool tips of the day, wear leggings or arm warmers this season. If you have any questions, call or email [email protected], I'll give you all my pointers, you can tell me I'm full of it, whatever you think. Have a good day and remember: if you're going to kick ass, you need kickass new shoes. And legwarmers. Thanks! Hey guys, thanks for watching. http://www.citysoles.com Hey guys. Welcome to City Soles TV. I'm your host Scott Starbuck and this is the Blundstone 510. This is a classic boot. We have carried these boots for 20 years. Blundstones are traditionally an Australian farming boot. They are made in Tasmania, a little island off of Australia. They are a blue-collar construction and farming boot. They are indestructible. Like I've said, we have had them for 20 years and the customer experience with this is customers buying them and then coming back 7 years later and get another pair. They wear amazing. They're all one piece of leather, in which, the leather goes all the way around to the bottom and is seamed under the sole. The leather is actually waterproof. There is no seams here at all. The seam is cemented one making it totally waterproof, except for the elastic. That is pretty high up though. These come in mens and womens and are really easy on and off. Just slip these on and they are super comfortable and super durable. They come in a stout brown and in black, both color look the same since they are so dark. You can't even tell the difference. I have tons of fans of these. You will love them. You can wear them forever because they are so comfortable and easy. With pants on they are pretty cool. I also sell them to girls. They wear them in the summertime with shorts and stuff like that. For a really fun and easy shoe, Blundstone. They are $149. They are a great value. Mark my words, you will have them for years and they will be one of your favorite shoes in your closet. Enjoy. Thanks! =========================================== Don't forget to... This is a local business interview with Interior Define. Hey guys, welcome to City Soles TV, I'm your host, Scott Starbuck, and we're here in Wicker Park today at a new furniture store, Interior Define. This is the founder, Steve. Steve, tell us about your passion and how you got started here. Yeah, I mean we've been selling online mostly B to B for the last couple of years and we thought that we'd launch a consumer brand right here in the neighborhood. So we opened up the store back in February, we opened up the site back in February and things are going great. Awesome! In February, February's a scary time to open, it was the worst winter in fifty years or something! It was so cold. It was freezing but that's okay. You got a lot done at that point. We did, we had a soft opening let's just say, and people came in. It was great. Cool! So just couches, that's all you do is couches. Couch guru. That's right, man, we wanted people to have a great centerpiece to their living room. We do a great job with couches, we can personalize them, they're great prices, and so people can get it exactly the way they want it for a great price. So this couch we're sitting on actually, I'm a customer and a fan also, we ordered this. It comes in ten, twelve different materials and colors. What's the leave time? It's about eight to twelve weeks and it gets you a big degree of personalization so you can make it just the way you want it. Plus by not having inventory, we can actually not have warehousing costs and stuff so we can offer some great prices. So you wholesale the stuff also to other brands and other retailers? We actually mostly closed that down and we're focused on the direct to consumer. Awesome. So this couch, just to give you an idea, literally this is a 12,000 dollar Italian couch in many places, 1,700 bucks. I freaked out. I was like, this is unbelievable. And this is a solid piece of furniture, it's unbelievable. It's about eleven feet long, it's great material, it's really soft. You can put a chaise lounge on either side. It's super comfy and it looks great. And you have what, about twenty pieces in your collection right now? About fifteen. And they come in a whole bunch of permutations. There's leather, there's wool, there's all kinds of stuff. Exactly. But on the high end, what's the most expensive, like the leather one back there. That's gorgeous, that giant thing, how much is that? That's 3,500 bucks. 3,500 dollars, you can't buy one chair that's leather for 3,500 bucks. That's unbelievable. Yeah I mean that's why we got started. We want to give people a better option. That's a great value. Yeah. Exactly right. So I'm a happy customer, amazing stuff. Check it out. Where are you located? Where can they find you? Yeah, so online we're interiordefine.com and here in Wicker Park we're at 2027 West North Avenue. Just look for the train tracks and we are right underneath it. Literally right underneath it. We're like, hold on, let's shoot this video before the train comes by again! It's got a great, urban feel that gives a good feel to the store. I mean. I live right down the street in the neighborhood and we thought, what better place to be than right here in Bucktown? Another seven day a week entrepreneur. Steve, congratulations and welcome to the neighborhood! Thanks Scott! I'm excited for your concept and everything, it's amazing. So check it out at their website and of course here on North Avenue in Wicker Park, Bucktown. Thanks for watching! Hey guys, thanks for watching. Hey guys this is the Bucketfeet Slip On. Bucketfeet is a startup out of Chicago. They're all one of a kind artists from all over the world that make individual different patterns. So they commission an artist in Bogota, Colombia, or in Japan or Chicago or Italy, and they make an individual pattern, they make a run for men's and women's slip on's, and the artist gets back money for every pair that sells. They're all made by street artists from all over the world. It's all original artwork. The shoes are real lightweight canvas. It's all memory foam on the inside. It's really comfy. It's got a great little red sole that kinda pops when you kick your feet up. We love this line. They're a Chicago startup that's been around for about a year and a half, but they've really been getting their stride in the past few months, and they're growing at like a thousand percent a month right now. They represent about ten different countries in the world. They're super comfortable. They're super lightweight. You can throw these in the washing machine, and wear them barefoot or wear them with socks. They're great with shorts and jeans and everything. These are men's and women's slip on's. They're sixty five bucks. You're going to love these shoes. Remember, if you're going to kick ass, you need kick ass shoes. Thanks.

http://www.citysoles.com Hey guys. Welcome to City Soles TV, I'm your host Scott Starbuck. A brief tip for the day is something that people ask me about all the time. It's how to get the stain out of suede shoes such as the salt stains or watermarks. Those are from the suede drying with that water mark. You shouldn't have to throw them away. Unless, they are really bad and you've abused them way too much. If you get the salt stains or watermarks on your shoes you can take silicon spray and spray it directly on the water stain. You should always spray your suede when you first get them to prevent this stain from happening. After spraying on the stain, take a bristle brush and scrub to help take it out. If it really extreme, you can take 50% vinegar and 50% water and try a little bit on a non noticeable stop to make sure it works and doesn't fade the color. This vinegar and water combination will lift the salt from the suede. This also works on leathers. Vinegar and water with some silicon spray, you should be good to go with the winter here or anywhere else in the world you may be. Thanks a lot. That is our tidbit. Have a good one! =========================================== Don't forget to... Subscribe to our YouTube channel: citysolestv =========================================== 2001 W. This is a Designer Interview with Robbie Hart of C4 Belts. Hey guys, welcome to City Soles TV. I’m your host, Scott Starbuck, and I’m here with Robbie Hart, head guru and founder of C4 Belts, and how long have you guys been around? We’ve been around for about 3 years. Almost 3 years now. Right on. I think we started carrying you in your inception. Pretty much, yeah, you guys have been awesome. You’ve been with us from the beginning pretty much. So this is the first time I’ve actually met you. Right? I miss you; you come in the store and deal with everybody else here. This is my second time in Chicago, I was here last summer as well. Right, it’s a killer town to visit in the summer. So where are you guys based, where are you out of? We’re from Atlanta. So three years, what was your inspiration behind the line? What got you into it? It was kind of out of necessity. Like, you need a belt, it’s a functional part of your wardrobe. I saw the trend happening with wristbands and watchbands, the colorful plastic. We started playing with that and thought, why not turn that into a belt? And that’s kind of how it got started. Cool! So give us a little run through. They can be unisex or men’s or women’s. They all come in one giant length. Then this buckle kind of unbuttons or unsnaps? Yeah, it just comes up like this. It’s really simple to interchange the product. That’s one of the features so you can mix and match and belt with any buckle. So you’re wearing the baby blue and brown, this used to be baby blue with yellow and we switched it out in a second so it would match my outfit better. I’m rocking the blue and black chrome, which is one of our new buckles. So you slide that down to try it on and see where you need it. And then you cut it. Get some scissors and cut it where it’s perfect for you. They come in fat and they come in skinny now, which would be women’s in general. They come in all different colors, super approachable. What are the price point for these? What do they retail for? 25. And the same with men’s. Both the same. 25 bucks for a new belt and they are attractive. Strangers compliment you on them and say hey, where’d you get those? The material itself is made out of thermal plastic, we have a lifetime warranty now. We’ll honor it at the store. If anyone brings it back, we stand by the product. You’ll have this forever. You can mix and match, buy a couple of different belts or buy one to start, and then you can also get other buckles. We sell buckles individually also and then you can mix and match, they’re fun. You were showing me these are some of the new patterns that are out and that are coming out. There’s camo, glow in the dark, patriotic American flag and some other prints and stuff like that. Awesome! So we’re going to get some of these in immediately. You can always find them at City Soles and citysoles.com, here in our Wicker Park shop or on the website. So how else can they follow you or learn more about your company? Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, everything at c4belts. www.c4belts.com. It’s pretty simple: letter c, number 4, belts. Come on in and check them out, he’s in town going to a trade show. These bad boys are awesome, we sell them like crazy, year round. So come on in, check them out, cool. Thanks, brother! Thanks for having me. Hey guys, thanks for watching. If you like what you saw, like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube, subscribe. We always have fresh content, new things coming out all the time. Shop Now: http://www.citysoles.com/department.asp?deptid=9561&sec=women This is a fashion style guidance video of the granny boots. Hey guys, welcome to city soles tv. I'm Scott Starbuck and were going to put an end to this evil name that people keep spreading around on fashion footwear, called granny boots. Granny boots only have that name because back when your grandmother wore shoes in the 20's the 30's everybody's grandmother at one point were wearing laced up oxford boots because that's what was in style. Trust me, when your granny was wearing these she was smoking hot in the early 1900's. It was a great name and now we just call it granny because your grandma just so happened to wear it. Lets change those names and find a better name for it. Lets bring out Rachael and Rachael is what were calling Edwardian footwear which is very thrilly laced up oxfordy. These are really kind of feminine Edwardian influenced. These handmade; little flowers, little grow-grain laces up the front, very fun Edwardian footwear, very sophisticated classy romantic feel to them. I love the rusted red wash. They come in another green and come in some other cool colors but really Edwardian look.. so lets look at a couple more granny boots and some other looks. Ill see you in a second. Alright lets see another look in this man tailored Edwardian granny boot thing Rachael has on. Same skirt by the way I don't know if you noticed that. But a new boot its like a modern take on an Edwardian look. Edwardian is roughly 18 to 1900's in the 1800's and then there's an Ontarian which is the 17 to the 1800's. But the Edwardian modern look. There's a nice wedge bottom. Just really interesting, I like the hourglass heel and the sculup look all the way around here is part of the Edwardian. Its a little more floo floowy than the Victorian . Laced up, these you really there just visual. The zipper gets them on and off. Great rich burgundy color and just kind of a cool way to also show that look that makes them feminine. Remember your grandmother was smoking hot, remember ? so one more look and i think the next one we will do Victorian. See you in a second. So the next feeling for this granny boot is Victorian. Victorian is not as fluffed up as Edwardian. Victorian in footwear is much cleaner and their clothing was much more fluffed up. But there footwear was cleaner. So lets bring out Rachael in a classic Victorian laced up boots, done by Shima Heira. Beautiful, beautiful boot but just really simple understated. They would wear this with there big hoop skirts. There all kinds of clothing but a Victorian laced up boot which is very sophisticated and this was 1700's to 1800's was the Victorian era in footwear like this. So this kind of sums things up for ya and its a way to take a man tailored Victorian look making it feminine\mini skirt\knee highs. Even with leg\leggings\tights. They would look cute with skinny jeans and things like that as well. So, all how you wanna put them together. I love the blazers with these specifically. So some great looks, some great ideas here at city soles tv. So remember .. "if your ganna kick ass, your ganna need some kick ass shoes." This was a fashion style guidance video on granny boots.

This is a local business interview with Violet Hour. Hey guys welcome to City Soles TV. I'm your host, Scott Starbuck, and we're out and about in Wicker Park today at the Violet Hour. It's like a hidden little Speak Easy. Let's go in and check this place out. It's amazing. SS: So I'm here at the Violet Hour with Alyssa. She's a cocktail liaison here at the Violet Hour. Alyssa, how long has this place been around? Alyssa: We opened in 2007. Back when we opened we were one of the first cocktail lounges in Chicago. SS: It's a super cocktail lounge. I want to center on that. It's like a Speak Easy in here. Alyssa: Well craft cocktail lounge, yeah. SS: Craft cocktail. Alyssa: And back in the day before 2007, there weren't a lot of craft cocktail lounges out there. We were actually one of the first cocktail lounges to open up for quality cocktails and a really nice environment to sit at. SS: It's an amazing experience here, to sit and watch a cocktail being made. Alyssa: Oh yeah. SS: There are fine touches to everything. I can't tell you how many places I've gone to that can screw up a simple martini. It's nice to see the craftsmanship and the care and the love that you guys put into it. Alyssa: Yeah, yeah. Definitely. Well you know we put all of our bartenders through rigorous training, and there is a lot of kind of dogmatic techniques involved. We like sticking to traditional cocktails and traditional techniques from the Prohibition Era. And as you'll see outside, we have kind of like a Speak Easy style vibe, too. There's a nice mural outside, no sign. SS: It's a secret to finding this place. You have to be cool just to know about it. Alyssa: Yeah, definitely! SS: But once you get in here, it's always packed. There's a line out in front over the weekends. Even on a Wednesday night there could be a line. How long have you been here? Alyssa: Oh I've been here for about three years now. SS: Yeah? Cool. Alyssa: Yeah, so I started back in 2011, and yeah I'm still here, so. I think a lot of people are kind of intimidated by the line winding around the block. But often times, they'll come in and they'll see that it doesn't look very busy because we actually do not allow standing room. So once you come in even on a Saturday night when it's jammed packed, it doesn't seem like it's that crowded. SS: Yeah, it doesn't seem five deep at the bar. People are sitting at the bar. All of the chairs are full and that's it. There's no over crowded-ness. Alyssa: Yeah. I think it's really special. You have your own personal space involved to have your own conversation with your friends, strong drinks to kind of lubricate the libations. SS: So tell me what you invented here. What did you put together, this one right here. Alyssa: Well this is not my invention. This is one of our signature cocktails. It's called the Juliet and Romeo. If I had to choose a flagship cocktail, it would probably be this one. I like to say it tastes like springtime in a glass. SS: Springtime in a glass. I like that it's the Juliet and Romeo. Alyssa: Ladies first. SS: Of course! Alyssa: Of course. SS: Well this is fabulous, you teaching us about this. Like I said, the process of every cocktail is an amazing experience, just watching that happen. Not just drinking them, of course. This is the coolest place to bring somebody for a cocktail if they've never been here. It's pretty awesome. Thank you very much. Where can they find you? Tell me about where this hidden place is. Alyssa: Well we're located on Damen. The exact address is 1520 North Damen. I don't believe we have any numbers on the outside, so it might be a little difficult to find. SS: That's okay. Alyssa: Look for the big mural that's ever changing on the outside right across the street from Big Star. SS: It's like the quiet side of Big Star. Big Star is crazy and loud, and this is just demure and quiet, and you'll have to find it. There'll be people in line on a Friday or Saturday night for sure. So thank you very much. Alyssa: Yeah of course. Cheers! SS: Good job, and any Facebook or Twitter or any dot coms? Alyssa: Yeah, you can find us at theviolethour.com. Our Twitter handle is violethour1, and Instagram is Violet Hour Chicago. SS: Check it out. You'll love this place. Cheers! Thank you.

This is a Fashion Style Guidance Video on How To Make Big Shoes Fit. Hey guys, welcome to City Soles TV. I'm your host, Scott Starbuck. We're doing a how-to series on how to do different things with shoes and how to make shoes that are too big fit and how to make shoes that are too big smaller. There's lots of occasions you might have shoes that are too big. The one we know the most is women are obsessed with fashion and style and they'll fall in love with something and it'll be a half size too big, sometimes a whole size too big. They'll want it so bad they'll frickin buy it because they love it so much. Then they're going to slip in their heel and you're going to be sloppy. What do you do? If it's a dressy shoe, a pump like this, we'll take cork pads, they'll go down inside the shoe, and I trimmed one so you get some scissors and put it on the bottom of the shoe and just trim it to match the bottom of the shoe. Then you can put it inside the shoe and it fits well, and that'll help take up room. What I like to do in a shoe like this that has a leather lining is actually pull up the lining, put the cork underneath the lining, and put a dab of glue on there and stick it down so you never have to see that cork thing again. You can easily shrink a shoe if it's an 8 and a half or 9, you can definitely make a 9 fit a size 8 with a couple of cork pads in them. Foam pads are really more made for comfort but they do take up some room. In maybe a bigger shoe, I'm a big fan in boots and things like this, of like a whole, length inside on the sole. I actually try and buy my boots a little big or just enough so they can fit an insole and they're better supportive. A lot of shoes don't have that support built into them. They don't know what you need. You may have a skinny heel or wide foot or whatever so a ton of different foot products out there that are going to help it fit better. Different inserts for different things. Let's say you're at home and you've got to wear your friend's boots that night and they're too big but you want to wear them when you're going out. You can literally take an insole out of an old pair of sneakers, the insole, nice, rubber, foam thing and stick it inside. It'll help take up a whole size and make them comfortable and bouncy as well. You can wear them out and it'll be comfy and take up a whole size. The cork pads on the inside of shoes, one of our biggest things, take a shoe that's way too big, looks like you're playing dress up in mom's shoes, and add some pads on the inside of it, take up some extra room, and make them work and go out. Thanks a lot and enjoy that tip. Remember: if you're going to kick ass, you need kickass shoes. That was a Fashion Style Guidance Video on How To Make Big Shoes Fit. http://www.citysoles.com

Check out the Fender Stud by J75 here: http://www.citysoles.com/product.asp?lt=d&deptid=9644&sec=men&pfid=CSN01891 Hey guys. Welcome to City Soles TV. I'm your host Scott Starbuck and this is the Jump J75 and the style name of this shoe is called the Fender Stud. This is truly a badass sneaker. It says I'm tough. There are studs on the sides and studs on the toe. Fender Stud's come in an awesome bright red and are also in black. This is a high top sneaker with a lot of punch, there is a lot you can do with this thing. It has a tag right here that can be taken off. There is velcro here for you to use but you don't have to. Most people won't even lace these all the way up. You can tuck your skinny jeans in there. They are comfortable because they have a cushion lining. This is an amazing line. They had an army boot that we had for three seasons and it has been amazing. We blew out of them. I think these are amazing sneakers. They are under $100 at $99 making them really approachable. I guarantee strangers will compliment you on them. Enjoy your Fender Stud by J75. Thanks.

This is a brand review of Bangs. Hey guys, welcome to City Soles TV! I'm your host, Stott Starbuck and this is the Spring Summer Line 2014 of Bangs. Bangs is a canvas shoe company. High tops and low tops, both men's and women's. They've got a great little story behind them. There was a young woman named Hannah who was a bartender in South Carolina and she took a trip to China. She was hanging out there, teaching English, and she saw that these were street shoes. People were wearing these on the streets like crazy. Low tops and high tops, they were much more rustic than this. She redefined them. She brought back a pair for herself and everybody loved them, of course. She started ordering them and getting some made for her and her friends. She went back to China, re-did the pattern a little more cleaned up version. Nice canvas, rubber bumper on the toe, little cap toe, rubber bumper all the way around and a nice little foam canvas lining. They're a great company and not only is there a cool story behind them but some great looks. I love the green high top, I think those are my favorite. All these colors come in men's and women's. There's 4 or 5 basic colors: white, tan, black, khaki, and green, and then red and blue in the low tops as well as white, khaki, and brown. The cool thing about them is that they really stand for change. It says right here, financial empowerment. Walks like a shoe, stands for change so stand with me. They invest money and give money back of all their profits. Part of their profits goes to Kiva. Kiva is: leverage is a worldwide network of micro finance institutions under the belief all people, even in the most remote areas of the globe, hold the power to create opportunity for themselves and others. So there's money and micro financing available to some of these underprivileged and difficult areas and help them empower and change their world, change their economy, provide food for their children, and get fresh water to their villages, things like that. Bangs gives money back from their profits to Kiva so it's a great thing. Every pair you buy, money goes back to Kiva. Bangs: really cool company, amazing street shoes. They've got a punk rock little feel to them. A pair of black high tops with your denim shorts in the summertime kicking around in the hood, I think they're very cool. So, they run pretty big. They're about a half size big in American sizes and full sizes as well. Women's 6 to 41 or to 11. If you're a 6 and a half I would go with a 6. If you're a 9 I'd go with an 8 and a half, so pair back a half size in both mens and womens because they run about a half size big. Great shoes, great story behind them, they're standing for a great cause, and you're wearing some cool shoes. Real approachable price-point wise, the high tops are $60 the low tops are $55. It's a disposable price point. Get them and wear the heck out of them a couple of years from now, then get another pair (or another color)! Remember: if you're going to kick ass, you need kick ass new Bangs. Thanks! Enjoy! Hey guys, thanks for watching. Hey guys welcome to City Soles TV. I'm your host, Scott Starbuck, and we're out here today at Footwear News Platform and Magic, all the shows. Come in and check it out. We'll show you some of the amazing lines that we're looking for spring and summer 2015. Check it out. SS: All right we're here at Liberty Fair, and this is Christian, the North American brand manager for "Ohw," a really cool line that we had coming in for fall and winter 2014, and we're looking at the spring and summer 2015 line now. So Christian tell me about the line and the inspiration and what you guys are all about. Christian: So pretty much it's a UK based brand. This is our third season in the U.S. We kinda have this whole look that's sporty with an athletic out sole with a traditional top. Kinda like here we have the gatling. You know you have the traditional top, leather, suede. Then we do all of our big soles in house. So it's all produced in house. SS: So they're made in? Christian: In our factory. SS: In Britain? Christian: No. So our factory is actually in China. But it's not one of their Chinese factories. We actually give back to the community. It has high wages. It's on scale with factories that you'd see in Portugal. SS: They're not killing children downstream from the factory or anything like that? Christian: No none of that. We actually have like a whole video on iPeace right now showing the whole background, the factory, and what's going on. So, it's pretty cool. SS: Awesome. So, men's only? Christian: We're doing men's, but definitely women's are something that we're entertaining the idea of. SS: Cool. So they're lightweight, really approachable price point wise, too. Christian: Yeah, so everything is like $175 to $75 so having the factory really allows us to bring the materials but still keep the price points competitive SS: All right, so who are the designers? They're British based? Christian: So Steven Gill who owns the brand, he's been in the industry for I don't even know how long. SS: Since he was born? Christian: Yeah, so he was like on the board with like Doc Martin and a whole bunch of other brands, and his factory also does a lot of production for Timberland as well. So he's in the mix. SS: So this is his like cool, little baby that's just off the beaten path, which we love at City Soles and citysoles.com. We try and seek out the little lines that are not all over the place Amazing stuff. They're super comfortable, great, lightweight, but not over saturated. You only have how many? Christian: A handful of retailers including you. SS: In North America. So anyway, check them out at City Soles and citysoles.com. We'll grow the line. You'll see more for spring and summer 2015, and you're going to love them. "Ohw" is what's it's called it's "who" spelled backwards. O-H-W. It's so cool that it's spelled backwards. Thanks man. Christian: All right brother. SS: Thanks for watching.

Shop Now: http://www.citysoles.com/department.asp?deptid=9560&sec=women This is a fashion style guidance video on cuban heels Hey guys, welcome to City Soles TV. I'm your host Scott Starbuck and we're doing a whole series about shoes and the styling of shoes and things like that. Today we're going to talk about Cuban heels. If you look at a classic boot or shoe, for instance, it has a heel that goes straight down. Cuban heels start to be under-slung a little bit, and cut underneath. This is just a very minimalized Cuban heel. I think this is a better example, where it's cut underneath in the back and still gives you the same support but is a different visual. There are some western boots in the marketplace that are über cut in like a Cuban heel. This is a great example too, how this is cut in. Let's bring Rachel out here and look at a different type of Cuban heel. You think of the Cuban heel as a sort of Western type of influence, but this I would consider a Cuban heel also. Check these out, nice, awesome little sexy feminine pointy shoe. They've got a great under-slung heel. So, sideways Cuban heel, great little zipper in the back. A lot of people don't really know what the Cuban heel is, so I wanted to explain that in our informational video here. And remember, "If you're going to kick ass, you need kick ass shoes!" -Scott Starbuck Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/citysoles Twitter - https://twitter.com/CitySoles Pinterest - http://www.pinterest.com/citysoles That was a fashion style guidance video on Cuban heels

Hey guys this is the Mezlan Rocco. Mezlan's custom line consists of surreal, beautiful, amazing shoes taken up to the next level. These are all handmade out of Spain. They're very sophisticated. The leathers are gorgeous. This is really nice, boxed leather. This is not your dad's loafer. These are badass loafers. This has a nice wingtip finish here. There are nice little kilted tassels. This is a great slip on. Nice elastic tongue underneath there, so you can slip them on with socks or while barefoot. These would be amazing to dress up a pair of jeans or a suit. These are seriously smart, amazing shoes. I love the blue rub off here. There is a nice finish on this blue shoe. They put a black finish over it, and rub it off. So the blue comes through the black. It's really an amazing process. They're really cool. They're not too flashy, but they're just enough to where people go "Wait a minute. Those are frickin' cool, bro." These are gorgeous, gorgeous shoes. Like I said, they're shoe stoppers. People will stop you and go "Where'd you get those? Those are amazing. So enjoy your custom shoes by Mezlan and custom shoes by citysoles.com. Remember, if you're going to kick ass, you're going to need some kick ass shoes.

This is a footwear designer interview with Sitrana. Hey guys, welcome to City Soles TV. I'm your host, Scott Starbuck, and I'm here with Eric Pitzer, the co-founder and partner in Sitrana. Sitrana, it says in here, "hecho a mano?" Yeah, yeah, sure. Hecho a mano, that's handmade in Spanish. Hecho a mano, see I'm learning every day, something new. Handmade in Spanish, and where are they from? You guys are from? Yeah, absolutely. We're based out of Santiago, Chile. We have our workshop there. I have my business partner, he's a 32 year old Chilean guy. Half Italian, half Chilean. He founded the company about 4 years ago. Does he have the footwear making skills in his background? Is it a family thing? You know, I would say he has more of an artistic background in design. It's more in his blood than really in his training. Chile as a whole, they have a shoe-making community. Artisan Community? Yeah. Absolutely. They're fabulous. So you guys seek me out or seek out City Soles, came in last fall, right? They stock me online and sent me a free pair of shoes so I was sold as soon as I got my shoes. I got them on right now, actually! So they have a great hand to them, actually. They're hand done, they're an oiled leather, and they really break in. They've got a nice feel to them once they break in. They only get better. The more and more you wear them, the more you break them in. So this is like, your first shot at this, right? Honestly, yeah, as far as putting shoes in stores and going at it, yeah. I started building shoes in 2010, I met him in 2011, I read about him in the newspaper, and just really appreciated his work. So you live in Santiago? I live in Santiago, I'm from Cincinatti, Ohio. Ohio! Represent! Absolutely. And just really appreciated his work. Everything is handmade, the leather is all from Chile as well. So did you guys seek out an artisan factory, and he designed? Actually, we built everything from the ground up? Really? Yeah. It initially started by seeking out a workshop to make shoes, and he found that they were copying his designs. And as a guy who really respects what he does and all that, he founded his own workshop and founded his own shoe-makers and we have five shoe-makers that work with us. They say the sincerest form of flattery is somebody that's knocking you off but still, you want to be able to build your own line before people copy it. They're gorgeous. They're all handmade, all leather, leather lined, leather soles, I mean they're beautiful, beautiful shoes. So let's look at some of the patterns. We've got a ton of men's patterns. By the way, the number one thing, and we think it's because of the red lace, is this shoe with the red laces in it, so we started getting more with red laces in it. They come with a natural lace and a red lace but it gives it kind of a pop, it's something really cool. There's actually some women's patterns, too. Absolutely. Yeah we've launched our women's line just this year, actually. This is the matcher that kind of matches the men's shoe here. We're having a really good reception with the women's shoes obviously, they sell like hotcakes to the ladies, and they really like the shoes. So we're really happy. Nice, man-tailored, sophisticated look. This is my favorite shoe in the line, actually. I love the zipper. I want this in men's, by the way. Alright! Yeah, I'll make a note. I totally would wear this in men's. Just a great little feel, love the shoes. I love the story behind the company. A small company out of Santiago, Chile. Literally, how many customers do you have in North America? Right now, two. That's awesome! We love that story. So you know for a fact you're getting something that very few other people have the privilege to have, and we love that at City Soles. We want you to wear stuff that looks like it came from here and that you can't find anywhere. So check us out, here in Wicker Park in Bucktown, and at citysoles.com of course. Free shipping, free return shipping of course and as always, we guarantee all our shoes for compliments. So Sitrana is guaranteed for compliments because they're cool and different. Does Sitrana mean something? Is that a Spanish term? Yeah, actually there is a little bit of history behind the brand. Yeah, the name Sitrana is actually a family name, an artistic family name of his grandfather when he was young. In the 50's he was a singer and traveled around South America as a singer. It's very common in Chile where artists have artistic names. His grandfather's artistic name was Victor Sitrana. So the name comes from that. www.citysoles.com

Shop Now: http://bit.ly/1tK6ZIu Hey guys welcome to City Soles TV. I'm your host, Scott Starbuck, and this is Area Forte, my favorite men's and women's line in the entire store. I've gone back to Italy. I import them directly from Italy. These are made in the Marche region of Italy where all the shoe factories are, some of the best shoe factories in the world. They're handmade. Amazing beautiful-ness. I love the styling. They're very moto style, motorcycle ready, killer, tough boots. I actually wearing these today. Great functional zippers on this guy. They're double. Just get them on and off. They're all handmade, leather, leather lined. Just really fabulous stuff here. This is my favorite one right here. Great little boot with a great little tread for the winter in the coming season. These are show stopper shoes. These are going to be your favorite pair in your closet. You're going to have them for the rest of your life. They're amazing. Area Forte: full, European men's sizes, so men's 42 to 46. I'm a men's 11. I get a 44. A men's 12 is a 45. They run pretty true to size. If you're in between sizes, let's say a 10.5 or a 9.5, I'd go up. So a 10.5 would go to a 44, which is an 11. A 9.5 would go to a 43. Outside of that, you're going to love them. They're amazing kick ass shoes. Enjoy.

Shop the Oetzi Troop Vibram here: http://www.citysoles.com/product.asp?lt=d&deptid=9644&sec=men&pfid=CSN01894 Hey guys, this is the Oetzi Troop Vibram. We've had the Oerzi Troop boots for couple of seasons. They are great boots. They upped the ante and put a thicker lugg vibram sole. This has an excellent rubber sole. They are really durable, I love this construction orange. One thing I love, aside from the overall look, is the cork fit sole. It is a cork insole that is like a birkenstock on the inside of your boot. It is super comfortable and they will be your favorite boots ever. Oetzi has low tops and high tops but the Troop is one of their classics. They spiced it up with the lugg bottom and added the red laces. It comes with the natural laces but I love the red. Enjoy these. You are really going to love these. And, they are price guaranteed. They are so fun and comfortable. Enjoy your Oetzi Troop Vibram sole. Thanks.

This is a product review of Bangs Hi Top. Hey guys, this is the Bangs high top. Bangs is a company that's all made in China, they're based in Brooklyn, NY actually. Hannah, the founder, is from South Carolina and is now living in Brooklyn, NY. She's starting to scale her company. It's a great little startup concept, they're all made in China. She lived in China teaching English to children and noticed that these were being worn in the streets as street shoes. She refined them, cleaned them up, and has them being produced in China, then brings them to America. Men's and women's high tops come in like five colors: green, khaki, black, white, blue red, six colors. They run about a half size big so if you're a mens 10 and a half I'd go with a 10, if you're an 11 I'd go with a 10 and a half. Same with women's. If you're an 8 and a half I'd pair down to an 8. So a half size big across the board, men's and women's. You're going to love them. Barefooted, with little socks, great little lightweight comfortable sneakers for the summer. Real approachable price-point: the high tops are 60 bucks. Remember: if you're going to kick ass, you need kick ass new shoes. Enjoy! That was a product review of Bangs Hi Top. www.citysoles.com

This is a Brand Review of Hari Mari. Hey guys, welcome to City Soles TV. I'm your host, Scott Starbuck, and it's summertime here in Chicago and all over the country. We're talking about flip flops. Everybody's got them; everybody wears them. Hari Mari is a new company we brought in this season and we like to buy what I call substantial flip-flops that you're going to have for a while. You're not going to blow these suckers out and step on a pop top, cut your heel and head back home for margaritas. You're going to wear these and they're going to last and be really awesome. Men and women's Hari Mari, they have a great thing: every pair that's sold they give 3 bucks to pediatric cancer, which is, a heartfelt organization and I think that's a great deal. They come in camel tan in men's and also the gray that I have on. Nice little substantial rubber bottom here. Comfortable little arch support, there's a heel counter on the inside that gives you a little more support. They're great little flip flops. These, like I said, are substantial flip flops that you're going to wear longer, last longer, and feel better. Little bit of break in time to them but they're great shoes and you're going to love them. They come in men's and women's. Women's are a little thinner strap. Gray and the camel, I actually like this gray, it's almost like a faded black. These are a great color for anything. You know flip flops you can just throw on with anything. Jeans, shorts, bathing suits, anything and wear the heck out of them. Check them out here and at citysoles.com. Hari Mari's give $3 to pediatric cancer for every pair bought so they're cool shoes, enjoy! Thanks. And they're true to size. Full sizes only, men's 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and if you're not sure what size you are or in between sizes, whether it's a women's 8 and a half or a men's 10 and a half, go up half a size. Women's 8 and a half go to a 9, men's 10 and a half go to an 11. That's what I am, I'm a 10 and a half and I've got on a pair of 11's right now. Enjoy and have a great day. Thanks! That was a Brand Review of Hari Mari. http://www.citysoles.com

Shop Now: http://bit.ly/1AGK314, http://bit.ly/1qKJ1R0 SS: All right we're here at capsule. This is the elite of the elite little shows in this whole big crazy thing of footwear and fashion. We're here with PS Kaufman. Paul is the founder and guru designer and everything for these amazing shoes. Paul, tell me a history about the shoe thing. You know, we've both done this forever. Paul: Sure. We've actually probably known one another three decades. It's crazy. I originally was a designer, creative director I guess, of Nanna, which is the brand from the eighties and nineties. They're very successful. They brought Doc Martins to the U.S. SS: Small company. You may have heard of them. Paul: Maybe so. I spent many years designing Docs. We created our own collection as well. That also result in Chloe Sevigny, the actress, buying a vintage pair of mine in Texas. I read a story about that. She mentioned that it was one of her favorite brands, so I eventually hooked up with Opening Ceremony. SS: More small brands that you may have heard of also. Paul: We did a collaboration with them, which took me back to the original factory that was making the shoes. I talked into this factory. Literally, I got goosebumps. The sound, the smell, everything was really different about the way the shoes we used to make. SS: So the inspiration for your new line is your history in this. Paul: And also in the way the shoes are made because the process was invented in the eighteen hundreds so it's a really unique way, a dying way, unfortunately, of making shoes. And so, that inspires a lot of the references that I have: the eighteen hundreds, early nineteen hundreds SS: Romantic. The romanticism. Paul: At the same time as that kind of crazy, just, how messed it would have been to live then, and how hard it would have been to live then. My first collection I wanted to cover in mud because it would have been like walking in mud. SS: Yeah, the streets of mud. Paul: The streets of Leadville, Colorado. Mining town, miners, dance hall girls, that's what inspired me to get this thing off the ground. SS: These are all handmade in Mexico, right? Paul: Yes, yes. SS: In an area we both know, Leon. Paul: Yes. SS: And you do some amazing finishes and burnishes. Like you were telling me about this guy. This was an orange leather. Paul: Yes. SS: Then you washed it. Paul: Yes. SS: Then you dyed it again and washed it again. Paul: Yes. SS: And THEN came up with this amazing finish. Paul: Yes, and what's great about it is that it just gives it so much extra life. Leather's already like an amazing, beautiful quality and character. It gives it so much personality. So when you add the washing, it gives it the flexibility and character. SS: And you wash the as a whole not just as a hide. Paul: Yeah, the shoe as a whole. Once the shoe is made, we're painting it, washing it, in this case two times. SS: So it has an amazing patina to it, and you guys are hand painting these, the metallics. So we have stuff for fall and winter 2014 and there's spring and summer 2015 after that. Paul: This particular paint job is three steps to give it that feel. SS: Yeah, You were showing me. We walked in, and you were like "there's still stuff under my nails from doing this." Paul: Exactly. Well I have to say that one of the great things about what we do is that we're really, really involved in the process of getting the shoes made. SS: It's a passion. I mean you have a passion about it. Like you said it's a dying breed of passion and artisan quality footwear. It's sad. It destroys me as well as you that everything went out to China, and there's very few craftsmen left in the industry. You know? Paul: Well what's great and what keeps me really motivated and passionate about it is because of the way they're made, these things will last forever. And people will realize that, hey it's a little more expensive, but in the end you'll feel better. They last longer. These are comfortable. There's cork under the foot bed. SS: Strangers will stop you on the street and say "Where the hell did you get those things? They're amazing." So I want to come to the factory. I want to bring him and film in the factory. It'd be cool to see some of the process and stuff. Paul: Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's amazing. SS: Paul, you're awesome. And the line's super cool. They're available this fall at citysoles.com and of course at our store in Chicago. We're psyched about them for spring and summer 2015. Paul: And for those of you men who have maybe been looking at my website, There'll be men's styles available as well as through City Soles. We're super excited to finally be in Chicago. SS: I'm excited to have you. And he put on his Playboy shirt today. He had that in the interview. Paul, you're amazing. Thanks, man. Thanks for watching.
