Walmart has unveiled a new store-to-store money transfer service launching later this month, aimed at helping its customers send cash to loved ones and directly competing with outfits like Western Union. 'Walmart-2-Walmart' will be operated by Ria Financial Services, a subsidiary of long-established electronic payments company Euronet. "Walmart-2-Walmart offers a clear fee structure with just two pricing tiers: customers can transfer up to $50 for $4.50 and up to $900 for $9.50," said Daniel Eckert, senior vice president of services for Walmart, on a call to investors, analysts and press on Thursday morning. http://www.forbes.com/sites/clareoconnor/2014/04/17/walmart-unveils-walmart-2-walmart-money-transfer-service-between-its-stores-with-euronet/ http://www.wochit.com

Apple Watch App Will Track Glucose Levels for Diabetics

00:53
Already approved by the FDA, a new Apple Watch app is slated to debut in April to help diabetics make sure their blood sugar levels don't go too high or too low. The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday that the app, designed by medical products maker DexCom, will track and display the wearer's glucose levels on the watch in the form of a graph. The goal is to help diabetics easily and quickly read their blood sugar levels by simply glancing at the app. DexCom's glucose monitor uses a tiny sensor placed under the skin to measure glucose levels every five minutes. The app itself is expected to be available in April--the same time the Apple Watch itself will reach consumers. http://www.cnet.com/news/apple-watch-app-will-track-your-glucose-levels/ http://www.wochit.com

Converse Loses Trademark Infringement Lawsuit Against New Balance

01:05
Converse's legal battle with New Balance over trademark rights regarding footwear has been dealt a sever blow, as the International Trade Commission has ruled in favor of New Balance. In the fall of 2014, Converse asserted trademark rights regarding the toe cap, toe bumper and midsole stripe designs in its Chuck Taylor All Star sneakers. The broad trademark infringement case was filed not only against New Balance but also against 32 other footwear manufacturers and retailers. But this recent ITC decision has invalidated Converse’s Chuck Taylor trademarks, noting that numerous companies - including PF Flyers - have used similar designs for decades. In a statement released by New Balance, executive vice president Paul Gauron said, “While New Balance respects competitors’ valid intellectual property rights and enforces its own trademarks in footwear, no single company owns the exclusive right to make classic, athletic footwear with the combination of a toe cap, toe bumper and midsole stripes as Converse claimed in this case.” http://wwd.com/fashion-news/fashion-scoops/itc-rules-converse-trademark-infringement-lawsuit-10490602/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

India's Bajaj To Launch Four-wheel Vehicle But It's Not A Car

00:57
It's got four wheels and seatbelts, but Bajaj Auto, the creator of India's first quadricycle, would rather you didn't call it a car. Bajaj Auto is marketing the RE60 as a more stable and comfortable alternative to the three-wheeled auto-rickshaws ubiquitous on India's roads even though it looks like a small hatchback car and is expected to cost less. Weight, top speed and other specifications, including safety standards, mean the RE60 will not be classified as a car. But that didn't stop executives from India's top automakers such as Tata Motors from comparing it to a car and finding its safety features come up short. Rajiv Bajaj, the company's managing director, insists the RE60 is neither a car nor an auto-rickshaw. The government is even creating a new classification category for the vehicle, which is expected to be launched within months. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/reuters/businessNews/~3/4oHlgJyBTkU/story01.htm http://www.wochit.com

Roadshow reports that automaker Ford's latest round includes three safety recalls and one safety compliance recall. The recall covers nearly 500,000 vehicles across North America. Crossovers, vans, sedans, hatchbacks and trucks are all included. Only one of the recalls is an expansion of a previous recall. One of the recalls relates to the cooling system in the 2014 Escape, 2014-2015 Fiesta ST, 2013-2014 Fusion and 2013-2015 Transit Connect. Ford's second recall expands on an earlier recall involving door latches. It's adding another 211,000 vehicles to the mix, including the 2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion and the 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ. Signature or PIN? Visa Sues Wal-Mart Over Debit Card Policy Shift

00:53
Visa Incoporated filed a lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores Incorporated on Wednesday. Visa claims the monolithic retailer secretly began testing a protocol that eliminated the need for signature verifications for transactions paid for with a Visa debit card. The lawsuit comes about a month after Wal-Mart had sued Visa, saying the payments network operator was resisting the use of personal identification numbers by customers for purchases made on debit cards at Walmart stores. According to Reuters, a filing in a New York court claimed Visa said Wal-Mart did not disclose the PIN-only policy to Visa and noted a significant drop in debit card transactions at Walmart stores. Visa also received customer complaints on their inability to use their debit cards at Walmart stores without a PIN. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/Reuters/domesticNews/~3/d7F28zWtrdA/us-walmart-lawsuit-visa-idUSKCN0ZF2V8 http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

New Cancer Drugs Come At A Steep Price

01:15
Newer cancer drugs that enlist the body's immune system are improving the odds of survival, but competition between them is not reining in prices that can now top $250,000 a year. The drugs' success for patients is the result of big bets in cancer therapy made by big pharma. New drugs called checkpoint inhibitors work by releasing a molecular brake, allowing the immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells the same way it fights infections caused by bacteria or viruses. For cancers like melanoma, the treatments can mean long-term survival for around 20 percent of patients. Current checkpoint inhibitors each have a list price near $150,000 a year. A combination of drugs used for advanced or inoperable melanoma, has a cost of $256,000 a year for patients who respond to the treatment. The pharmaceutical industry holds that discussion of prescription drug prices has to take into account the major investment required for innovation and discovery of new lifesaving drugs. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/reuters/topNews/~3/8zgJrpzhMlQ/us-usa-healthcare-cancer-costs-idUSKBN1750FU http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

Johnson, a British citizen and HSBC’s global head of foreign exchange trading, is accused - alongside colleague Stuart Scott - of “defrauding clients” and of having “manipulated the foreign exchange market to benefit themselves and their bank.” Johnson and Scott are accused of weaving a “web of lies” when clients questioned them about higher prices they were forced to pay to bring back proceeds from an overseas transaction. Shire Finalizes Baxalta Takeover for $32bn

01:04
After confirming that including cash in its purchase price would not create a large US tax bill, London-listed drug company Shire has agreed to buy Baxalta for $32bn. Baxalta's board had initially turned down a purchase offer of 45.23 per share, prompting Shire, which is based in Dublin and managed in Boston, to directly appeal to shareholders to complete the deal. In the end, Shire offered a large cash incentive to close the deal. This is the just the latest takeover in pharmaceuticals, as older pharma giants push to buy newer, more profitable drugs from smaller developers. Baxalta specializes in treatments for cancers, immune system related diseases, and rare blood conditions. By purchasing Baxalta, Shire is fulfilling its goal of moving from hyperactivity medicine into a broader range of drugs. http://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/jan/11/shire-clinches-32bn-takeover-of-baxalta http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

Stock Market Spoofer Gets Three Years For Fraud

A U.S. judge sentenced high-speed futures trader Michael Coscia to 3 years in prison on Wednesday. According to Reuters, it's a lighter punishment than prosecutors had wanted for the first person criminally convicted of the manipulative trading practice of spoofing. Coscia also was sentenced to three years of supervised release. Prosecutors had asked the judge to jail Coscia for as long as seven years and three months after he was convicted last year of spoofing and commodities fraud. Spoofing is a practice in which traders try to give an artificial impression of market conditions by entering and quickly canceling large buy or sell orders onto an exchange, in an attempt to manipulate prices. According to multiple reports, Jay Z has bought a piece of Armand de Brignac, the high-end champagne brand commonly known as "Ace of Spades" that he helped popularize through his music. It is not yet confirmed exactly how much of the brand, produced by France's Champagne Cattier since 1763, he bought. Has Foxconn Begun Replacing Workers With Robots?

00:53
Foxconn has been designing robotic arms for use in its factory for years, but the precision has not been good enough for them to fully replace workers, until now. In one of its factories, Foxconn has deployed robots to replace 60,000 of its 110,000 person workforce. The company says the initial investment in robots will reduce labor costs considerably in the long run. Foxconn, which makes products for Apple, Samsung and Sony, denies that the introduction of robots will result in fewer jobs for humans. This appears to be a very strange claim, but Foxconn says it will continue employing people in some parts of manufacturing, as well as areas like research and quality control. http://www.geek.com/news/foxconn-has-replaced-60000-workers-in-one-factory-with-robots-1656337/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

The world's largest asset manager, BlackRock said on Thursday that it plans to move its headquarters in 2022 from midtown Manhattan to a massive new office tower in the fast-growing Hudson Yards district on the city's far West Side. Apple Reveals Drop In Sales Of ITunes Music

01:30
According to Apple's annual report filed with the SEC, the iTunes Store raked in more revenue overall in fiscal 2014 than in the previous year, but digital music sales have declined. According to Apple's latest regulatory filing, iTunes music sales took dip over the past 12 months. In an 88-page annual report, filed Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Apple said the iTunes Store overall raked in more revenue in fiscal year 2014 -- which ended September 27 -- than in fiscal year 2013, but that music sales have fallen. Apple didn't reveal specifics on how much digital music sales have declined. But on Friday, the Wall Street Journal cited "people familiar with the matter" who said that music sales at the iTunes Store have dropped 13 to 14 percent since Janaury 1. The Journal pinned the blame on growing competition from cheap music, such as free videos and $10-per-month unlimited subscription plans. http://www.cnet.com/news/apple-reveals-drop-in-sales-of-itunes-music/ http://www.wochit.com

Retail sales of marijuana for recreational use are now legal in California. Adults over 21 in the nation's most populous state can buy it in cities that agree to make it available. However, the rules are strict. The marijuana must be sold in sealed, child-resistant packages. The Dow Jones hasn't closed that low since February, but it opened the year in January trading about the 25,000 mark. But the biggest losses on Wall Street hit tech stocks. The FANG group of stocks, which includes Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, and Google, were down between 3-and-4 percent each, while Microsoft lost 2-percent on the day. https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/24/tech/tech-earnings/index.html http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

Consumers Can Now Sue Banks, Credit Card Companies

00:56
Under a new federal rule issued Monday, consumers could band together to sue their banks or credit card companies. According to the AP, it's likely to face resistance from Congressional Republicans and the White House. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau decided to ban most types of mandatory arbitration clauses. The clauses require credit card or bank customers to use a mediator when they have a dispute — often giving up their right to sue in court. Mandatory arbitration clauses are found in the fine print of tens of millions of financial products, from credit cards to checking accounts. http://hosted2.ap.org/APDEFAULT/386c25518f464186bf7a2ac026580ce7/Article_2017-07-10-APFN-US--Consumers-Arbitration%20Ban/id-b1cd9bbcdb0845e680b4a933ef431385 http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

How To Keep Your Job Safe From The Impending Robot Takeover

01:15
As Terminator protagonist Sarah Connor once told us, there's no fate but what we make. At the very least, we can configure it to our advantage. So it's time to take action to make sure robots don't take over the workplace, leaving humans out of work and with nothing to do. According to Digital Trends, one thing to do is to pick an intersection between technology and another field--like law, for example--and master it. Sooner or later, the world will demand workers with knowledge of both. Or at the other end of the spectrum, pick a field that demands lots of human skills, like touch and perception. Robots aren't likely to make the best original art, or shoot the best movies. Finally, you’ll need to continually pick up new skills to cope with the digital world. That means you’ll never be able to really say your days of education are behind you. Luckily, the growing number of online training programs means that accessing learning is easier than ever. https://www.digitaltrends.com/cool-tech/how-to-survive-ai-job-takeover-employment/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

British Airways Flight Attendants, You May Now Wear Pants--Sometimes

00:52
You'd be forgiven for thinking that, in the year 2016, female flight attendants working for British Airways would be allowed to wear pants. But female cabin crew who have joined the airline's "mixed fleet" since 2012 have been subject to a dress code that requires a skirt--unless they applied for a waiver on medical or religious grounds. According to Mashable, Unite, the union representing the crew, launched a campaign to change the policy and found that 83% of the union's members were against the policy-- both male and female. Unite regional manager Matt Smith said in a statement that now, “Female cabin crew no longer have to shiver in the cold, wet and snow of wintery climates, but also can be afforded the protection of trousers at destinations where there is a risk of malaria or the Zika virus." http://feeds.mashable.com/~r/Mashable/~3/vsf8odPe8l8/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

According to the Associated Press, more than 30 people who attended one of the motivational speaker's events have been treated for burns after Robbins encouraged them to walk on hot coals as a way of conquering their fears. Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said five people were taken to a hospital Thursday night, while the rest were treated at the scene for burns to their feet and lower extremities. The hot coals were spread outside the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center as part of a four-day Robbins seminar called "Unleash the Power Within." Walmart Founder Sam Walton's Son Unloads Shares As Amazon Takes Over

01:04
Rob Walton, who is the son of founder Sam Walton and served as chairman of Walmart until 2015, has unloaded shares of the retailer totaling $62.3 million, according to SEC filings reviewed by CNBC. Walton sold a total of 775,958 shares in two separate transactions on August 23 and 24.He still owns 106.3 million shares worth more than $8.4 billion. Walton is also still a member of the Walmart board. Since he sold less than 1% of the Walmart stock he owns, it's difficult to speculate what the reason for the sale might be. Investors fears are growing, however, as Amazon squeezes the retail market and pushes into more of Walmart's core businesses, like organic grocery. Walmart is currently the largest seller of organic food in the US, but it now has stiff competition as Amazon recently sharply cut prices at its new acquisition, Whole Foods. http://www.businessinsider.com/rob-walton-sells-walmart-shares-2017-8 http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

Do American Poultry Workers Really Have to Wear Diapers on the Job?

00:55
A report from international advocacy group Oxfam says poultry workers in the United States labor in a “climate of fear”, with some forced to wear diapers on the job. It says many workers are afraid to ask for permission to go to the bathroom. The report says a worker at a Simmons Foods plant in Arkansas told Oxfam that she and many others resorted to wearing diapers. According to The Guardian, a Tyson Foods worker says in the report that many workers at his North Carolina plant “have to urinate in their pants”. Simmons says the allegations are “troubling” and the refusal of bathroom breaks is not tolerated. Tyson says it is concerned by the claims but currently has “no evidence they’re true”. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/may/12/poultry-workers-wear-diapers-work-bathroom-breaks http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

Chinese Used Tiny Chips To Hack Apple, Amazon

00:44
Digital Trends reports Apple, Amazon, and government contractors have all been hacked by China. As part of the hack, China allegedly leveraged tiny microchips that targeted trade secrets and other intellectual property of American companies. The chips used in the alleged attack were the size of a pencil head, and were reportedly added to Supermicro server motherboards purchased and used by Amazon Web Services and Apple. This attack went beyond typical software-based hacks, as the chips had networking, memory, and processing power, and looked like signal-conditioning couplers. No consumer data is thought to have been stolen. https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/apple-amazon-hacked-by-chinese-chip/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com
